How's RC2 testing coming along?

Dev, does any exchange will start the FACTOM trade when we release?

Yes there will be, we are in talks with a few but we should be able to have ShapeShift and Cryptsy to start with.

Cryptsy ?!  oh dear..  Why not poloniex ?

Bittrex, Cryptsy, Poloniex, and ShapeShit.io should be the 4 to start with.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: August 23, 2015, 08:27:25 PM
The coin distribution is a very important thing for the future of a cryptocoin.

You are demonstrating why Bitcointalk is generally a waste of time for developers to participate in nowadays.  All you care about is Factoid distribution and proving that you are right but your opinions and accusations are not backed by facts or logic.  Your concerns have been repeatedly addressed by the Factom team.

Factom is much more than a cryptocurency network and it's distribution is far less important than it's potential development capabilities.  Most cryptocurrencies have no use other than as a currency, but Factom puts them to use as an anti-spam mechanism, reward mechanism for federated servers, and a mechanism to price data entries into the Bitcoin blockchain.  Factoids are an integral part of the economic system and their value has yet to be determined.  Factom has been heavily scrutinized by the Bitcoin community and they are very aware of the expectations of Factoids to remain valuable in the marketplace - and have spoken about this repeatedly in interviews.

You have also suggested that Factom engaged in investment fraud by using funds from the presale to purchase tokens in the crowdsale.  #1 this is why they used Koinify and #2 this would be blatant fraud and easily traceable if either party was ever subpoenaed for records.  This does not make sense given the high esteem with which Paul Snow (and Factom) is held in by the Bitcoin community.

Right now, the beta release is all we are interested in and after that we will have data to analyze about Factoid distribution.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: August 23, 2015, 05:25:48 AM

The scam was perpetrated against the crowd sale buyers who are unable to sell at a profit and must hold the coin in hopes of a miracle.

As a long-term follow of the Notary Chains project now known as Factom - and a crowdsale investor that was well-informed about the pre-sale of Factoids, I would appreciate if you did not speak for me and stop insinuating that Factom has ever been dishonest or lacking in transparency.

I have watched this thread since the launch of Factom project and I don't recall you being involved until you showed up to start spreading FUD.  I don't care about making money on Factom.  I purchased tokens to support this project and I am not worried about losing money because I have a job and make plenty of money.

Stop this "investor scam" bullshit.   Factom is about building applications on top of the Bitcoin blockchain.  It is one of many projects in the works that will strengthen the Bitcoin price because it utilizes Bitcoin spends in order to hash entries into the blockchain.  This means that Factom will increase transactions and thus has the potential to increase fees that can be rewarded to Bitcoin miners.

A distributed peer-to-peer data layer on top of Bitcoin is f*cking awesome man.  What the hell is wrong with you?
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official][2] Developments & Discussions on: April 20, 2015, 04:16:21 PM
I don't think last drop was manipulation, just someone who was holding a good ammount of cann dumped his or her coins. Perhaps it was because the lack of consistent news by D9 and the false hype around 4/20.

Or due to the fact that CannabisCoin will never = 1 gram.

The world is already skeptical of anything with "coin" attached to it.  You can thank Josh Garza and every other scam artist out there for that.

It's not going to happen folks.  By the time cryptocurrencies become commonplace, dispensaries will be issuing their own cryptocurrencies that are legitimately backed by cannabis and concentrates on Ethereum, Ripple, and other networks.

No self-respecting legitimate business would back the value of a cryptocurrency that they did not issue in the first place.

Happy 4/20 stoners.  Thanks for the pump and dump.

Have a great year!

From what I have read, Ty Doan the founder of CannabisCoin is growing a lot of Cannabis for Herbal Wellness Center in Phoenix Arizona and is building connections to market CANN in Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona

Alright! That is something I can work with Smiley Do you remember where you read that? Maybe I am just blind, but I cant find any usefull information about this in the OP. I can see some announcements, but no links to a "roadmap" regarding this matter.

That's the basic gist of what I've found through the twitter feed and occasionally checking this thread: https://twitter.com/cannabiscoins
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official][2] Developments & Discussions on: April 19, 2015, 06:12:45 PM
Alright.. I have been thinking a lot about this recently...

What is the main "magnet" for people to buy CANN?

1 CANN for 1 gram of marijuana is not realistic! Even if the dev is growing his canndy.. I doubt he is growing millions of grams! In a dutch coffeeshop a good quality weed already costs you about ~8-9 euro Roll Eyes

This is not meant as fud, but purely interest! I am a well known figure in a few regions in the netherlands, cannabis related of course  Wink I cant see this happening.. I really cant. Why would someone sell his weed for 1 cann? if he can sell it on the streets for at least 5$ a gram  Huh  It doesnt make any sense to me at all! I also spoke to a few coffeeshop owners if they are willing to accept CANN or BTC as payment. They all answered no. Because they will lose money on it, since its cryptomarkets. And not 1 coin has a stable value. I told them later on in the conversation there are multiple auto exchange platforms available, but that would mean interference from other companys to do the trading. Marijuana related "companys" dont like interference  Wink At least not where I come from Wink

I do hold a small stake in cann. I have around 30K atm. Please give me good reason to stock up more, besides the "upcoming 420 pump" Wink

Thank you,

Banzai

My understanding is that the situation in the USA versus Europe/Netherlands is quite different.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/ondcp/state-laws-related-to-marijuana

Because sale of marijuana is not legalized under federal law, the banks are often unwilling to harbour bank-accounts for the different dispensaries, shuting them down or freezing them since they do not want to be assosiated with federal illegal crime. However, if the dispensaries take payment in CANN, they can then sell it for BTC or $ on exchanges which are then transferred to the bank providing a loophole. After all, it's dificult to thrive as a business today if you can't have a bank-account. If Cann can establish itself as the payment and weed of choice through this loophole the potential is rich.

My 2 sat.

Thank you for your reply Smiley There is indeed a big difference.. However... the sale of marijuana is not legal at all in the Netherlands, it is "tolerated". So a few coffeeshops have the same problem with banking  Wink You cant explain all that money just by selling cups of coffee and tea right?  Grin

Thank you for sharing your vision, I understand what you mean.

It still did not solve any question marks I have around the "canndy" sale (nice name for a strain btw! good choice Cheesy )

There is nothing illegal about transacting in Bitcoin or CannabisCoin in the United States, or any other cryptocurrency for that matter.  Can you sell products in CannabisCoin? Absolutely, you just need to pay taxes and follow the laws.

Does anyone know who this 2.4M CANN wallet belongs to ?

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cann/address.dws?CVfAFF6UzaR8z4zE3aQLerCmQSLnxvrFm9.htm

I was hacked/RAT'd for 3200 CANN and they ended up there after the thief empied his/her Bittrex account.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cann/address.dws?CTSFTDzKSonarDJgpuRxukPrECXrby1eSe.htm

That's F'N weird dude.  That address has mined inputs as well.

Too many rogue addresses with millions of coins Sad

Whales are trying to scare small traders with high volume sells, they didn't get enough at recent dump. I predict that trades are not over for CANN. Probably another peak at 3k expected.

maybe, maybe not.

there's only 5 BTC of buy support to 1600 satoshis.  Anymore big dumps and we will probably see the price back down to ~1500 sats
Moving BTC and gonna be praying for that to happen...

that makes two of us Smiley

3 of us

the chart pattern tells me... this is not coming back anytime soon. Lets see, but don't expect recovery. more likely it will dump even more Sad

Wrong!!! It will recover and stay @2500

2 million CANN was dumped in 20 minutes...   someone is making a living just trading the CANN market... that's for sure

Brutal dump!

Love to see the weak hands falling in the trap when whales continue to accumulate Grin

You are calling someone with almost 900k coins a weak hand, I don't think so.

Still, why dump so hard now? Perhaps he bought around 4000 sat and is trying to salvage some value? Not a very smart whale if so.

Perhaps, someone was still in profit, so he sold his coins instead of waiting for 420 pump, which may come or not, or he dumped because of reason you mentioned.

If you look at the 4/20 pump from potcoin last year, you will notice that it dumped the day before 4/20 and that was that.

117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLO] Florin 0.8.7.4 | The original transaction message coin on: April 18, 2015, 06:05:57 PM
Quick note about the Florincoin protocol:

This protocol is stated to have a total coins of 160 million.  However, the protocol doesn't appear to actually do that.  This network will continue being mined long after 160 million coins are produced due to the protocol specifications:

https://github.com/pascalguru/florincoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L839

Just basic mathematics.

MAX_MONEY= 160,000,000

https://github.com/pascalguru/florincoin/blob/master/src/main.h#L40

However, this is not the actually maximum that will be produced by the network this is only the maximum that can be sent in a transaction.

This is not a problem for the function of Alexandria, am I reading this code correctly or does this cap it off at 160,000,000 ?

Or does this fix it?

https://github.com/pascalguru/florincoin/blob/master/src/main.h#L526

I fail to really see how this will generate any sort of significant income for the Rainforest Foundation.

This project has no revenue generating capabilities and there is no innovation.  It's just greed, plain and simple.

@blocktechceo @metacoin

Can you explain how the exchange will happen.  There was something said about being able to buy Florincoin with Bitcoin directly in the Alexandria wallet.  How does this work?  Shapeshift.io?  APIs?

Initially we wanted to go thru shapeshift, but they said Florincoin didn't have enough volume to justify the effort to add it to their system, so we did it internally. It's a very simple process, just click "buy more" in the Alexandria wallet and a new btc address will be generated and provided to the user - a script watches the new address, and when a deposit comes into it, it looks up the exchange price, averaging the 3 current exchanges and sends flo to the users address. it's a 1-confirmation thing, so with BTC it should take 10-20 minutes to load up a wallet to be able to publish content.

That's awesome.  Can't wait to check out the beta test!

If you have time, keep us updated with screenshots and more info as you guys make progress

This is obviously going to be translated into many languages (hopefully hundreds) at some point, will users be able to select a language in the Alexandria wallet down the road?
