Nobody is denying the complexity of the various factors involved in determining the price of a coin (or the price of anything really). Running costs are relevant in short term decision making. Trying to disprove this point by: one: expanding the scope of the discussion and: two: by giving an example of the good the Asic's did to Bitcoin over the years (long term) isn't really convincing. Vaious other factors should be taken into consideration if you'd want to get into this subject. There's always an example that suits your point if you conveniently leave out vital factors.

I'm not interested in giving you a lecture of basic economic theory, but do some research yourself, I'm sure you'll get the basic's down soon enough. I'm gonna leave it at that. Happy Easter.

Asic work for BTC,yeah,You can buy alot of thing with BTC. not with EMC2,Very risky to say it gonna be okey with asic when nobody can buy thing or only use them ! Now the thing is hold your coin and it gonna worth alot more in future,Okey , but its only look ponzy scheme now. EMC2 have this problem, like  so far many atl coin, its useless for now,I trust in Dev and foundation, but we need more to create infatuation over time !

Don't be afraid to innovated!

People have the delusion that being accepted by merchants creates value. It does not. Directly anyways. One of the only ways it does create value is by the marketing being accepted gives (there's a couple other minor factors where higher liquidity might create value in an otherwise relatively low liquidity commodity).

And you seem to say EMC2 doesn't have use like most other altcoins. Emc2 has more use than most altcoins. Most altcoins see a rise from hype driven by new clever ways to create artificial value (multipools creating artificial demand, large premises like country coins creating artificial market caps, etc). Emc2 actually has a use, which is beyond "spending". It's also targeting a little bit outside of crypto world. Those 2 things are really good value drivers.

Being condescending doesn't make a point. Also you wisely state how it's convenient to just keep the information that's relevant to your point. Check what you're doing. As opposed to me where I did mention that variable cost means something, but so little in this matter.

You can argue that going further in the scope is just a long road, but staying over simplistic is a great way to be wrong. No where in history of crypto has efficiency being a driver for value. I said your point is useless, and it is until there is evidence that it's right. Russells teapot.

The price are terribly low for what you mine, the big minimum is 1ksat and we can't handle this :/  I put this on the easter,we will see after the long weekend!

Asic miners have much lower running costs (electricity), they can afford to sell at these prices (with a profit).
efficiency is not the biggest factor here. Startup cost (cost of ASIC, that have no long term resale value). The ROI needs to be hit early or else you get burned.

Asic startup costs (just like GPU's) are sunk costs. In the short term decision making, only variable costs (electricity) as opposed to integral costs are considered.
If electricity cost was at all relevant, bitcoin price would have lowered considerably and constantly with ASIC. It did the exact opposite, it boomed. It's very arguable what really causes that, it may be the arms race that ASIC are where more and more money injected into hardware means it would elevate the price equilibrium, or it could be other fundamentals. But either way, it shows how LITTLE electricity cost is relevant to value.

No matter the terminology you use, facts are facts, words need to be used correctly and with everything in consideration.  The fact electricity is a variable cost means very little. One of the only use of determining variable cost is profit optimization. But there is so much more than that to the matter. The arms race effect trumps a lot of stuff here.

Any suggestion of changing the coin supply is extremely foolish.

It's like if the federal bank decided to tomorrow remove half of all money in circulation. It would perturbation buying power and value. 2 things you don't do to someone's money.

We are just offering some suggestions, because the devs are initiating some events to communicate with community.

If you call suggestions foolish, i think your remarks only speak for yourself, who is nothing but vulgar.
it was suggested, and denied, for way more valid reasons than the suggestions propose. That's it that's all.

I'm jumping ship of any coin that would even contemplate changing coin supply for very obvious reasons.

You guys talking about good "long term news" but "bad short term news".... There is no such thing in markets. Markets adjust as knowledge about it is made public.

Unfortunately, people don't see the true value of being an NPO at this stage.

Btw, seriously, the "announcement of a news" has no reason to be. It can only have negative effects. Announce something or dont, don't announce an announcement.

Nice ! Best one so far. This is what they call a "vector" right ? I like the simplicity and think it's recognizable too. Can you make a more coin- like version of it, just for kicks ?

Something like this?

Well yeah, more 3d looking. Can you change the colors back to what they were and leave the 3d effect ?
I actually like the color much more appealing. Coins are "shiny". Bland blue/green isn't that appealing.

So I would say, keep the color and drop the 3rd effect :p

I guess ill get the ball rolling.... Could of went all out with gradients, shadows, textures, etc., etc., but kept it simple.
Wanted to preserve original logo and reason for hot pink color change was to attract more female users (green made
look dull anyways)
. More professional looking and friendly as well. Thoughts?
Constructive criticism btw.

I think the idea is to move towards something more professional in the sense that a little godzirra grabbing a plane isn't exactly professional. You want something that is "coin/symbol". Also, I think baby blue isn't touching that goal either. As well as white background being not very eye catching.

The fuck are talking about? All you have is a trash name and a post that took 2min30sec to write? :S
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EMC2] Einsteinium | UPDATE WALLET!!! | FORKING NOW! on: April 08, 2014, 10:38:19 PM
Shit updated my wallet, did something wrong and my 22k emc gone  Sad?

I drag wallet.dat out of emc folder and then put it back, (in the \appdata) after downloading the new wallet, and balance is 0 after syncin.. first time trying to upg. to a new wallet, guess i fucked something up :/
I can't say if something can be done.  But the proper procedure is to ALWAYS BACK UP WALLET. And then just install the update. No touching of anything necessary.

And in the event that something bad happened while updating wallet (not sure I ever witnessed a wallet overwriting wallet.dat while updating), well you have your backed up key anyways.

Now... in your wallet, do you still see your old receiving address, or its a new one?

It's a new one, well I guess lesson learnt the hard way huh?
I just edited my post, please re - read to confirm.

Also, do you still have the original wallet.dat you dragged? Or you simply just drag and dropped back in, therefore have no copy of it?

Yeah that's how I did it, and drag and dropped it back in so nop, no copy..
Is it possible that the wallet.dat got somehow fucked, if I did drag it into appdata while the new wallet was still syncin?
If it was syncing what may have happened is that the old wallet.dat didn't copy over because of restricted access while in use. Nonetheless, copying while syncing is def what screwed it up. HOWEVER. Keep that wallet.dat (copy it). Delete the whole file and delete the wallet .exercise file and reinstall. Before even opening it copy paste the old wallet.dat back into the new appdata.

Also. Does the wallet.dat have a different timestamp than the rest of the files in the folder or a different one ( by the second)

The timestamp is shows it's the new folders .dat file, but I'll give it a shot one more time, pretty sure I fucked it up somehow along the way.. no big deal, I guess I can buy 'em back Smiley..

Thanks for the help anyhow =)

yeah if the timestamp is in line with the new wallet.dat it probably means it's lost.

However, I believe when you drag and drop something it gets saved to a hidden clipboard. Will google that. Maybe it's recoverable from that action.

And to resume, you

Copied wallet.dat to desktop
Installed update
Copied wallet.dat back into appdata (and confirmed you wanted to OVERWRITE A on prompt)
Synced?

(ANY discrepancy in what I resumed, please note, anything can make a huge difference)

You know... let's just update AFTER the fork.

Wonder how many pool/crypto site maintainers don't check their emails every day...

Actually, debrause is part of the dev team. He has been moving since before we decided that we needed to push the update sooner then later. Because he was moving he had no phone or internet to stay abreast. Hes now back on the case as they just installed his new internet.

But a lot of others do not check emails and its getting annoying.
Fair enough, but as you may have guessed I was really aiming that to the people that it concerns more than derbrause himself.
