1001  Economy / Economics / Re: Can a deflationary currency really work? on: March 12, 2018, 10:34:15 AM
What are the incentives to spend your money if it always goes up in value?
Does this not stunt economic growth?

If there was only one currency, and it was deflationary - yes, it would stunt economic growth.

But we have loads of world fiat currencies, and about 1500 cryptocurrencies, many of why have mild inflation built into them. Such as Ethereum and Doge.

The currency that "wins" on the payment front will likely be a mildly inflationary crypto.

You missed out North Korean sanctions busting via ze evil bitcoin:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-09-11/north-korea-hackers-step-up-bitcoin-attacks-amid-rising-tensions

Some people are going to be gutted if Trump manages to pull off a peace deal.
1003  Economy / Speculation / Re: Literally everyone FUDding Bitcoin just wants to get cheaper on: March 12, 2018, 09:35:05 AM
Yes - and there is a way to make a profit from it. Everytime you see FUD, set a low buy order, at least 15% below the resistence line, just in case there is a flash crash. You will end up buying some cheap coins which you can immediately offload when the price bounces up. Then rinse and repeat.
1004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in darknet on: March 11, 2018, 09:26:04 PM
Why don't you just purchase camera's on the clearweb though? Not sure if you still can, but I think you can still purchase items on Amazon using bitcoin through purse.io.

https://purse.io/
Oh bro don't give that shit. don't mind please .
this is not trust able site, i read review about this site on facebook page . all the people who ordered from this site no one get their product on time. and many more problem.

People can always buy amazon voucher codes from Gyft and then purchase their camera from amazon.com like everyone else
1005  Economy / Speculation / Re: all markets follow the bitcoin price trend on: March 11, 2018, 06:59:11 PM
Currently you can't buy alts without bc. So that's why their prices are so linked.

Once there more ways to buy alts with fiat, you'll be seeing less of a price dependency

Actually there are loads of alts you can buy with fiat (dollars or euros, or korean won). Ethereum, litecoin, bitcoincash, monero and others can all be bought directly.
1006  Economy / Speculation / Re: Momentum remains weak, price will dip again. on: March 11, 2018, 06:14:38 PM

Well he has been dumping it since December that's why the price goes down from the December high. And he will continue to dump as it was reported he still have like 1.7B to dump. If he we dump it in the next couple of months they bitcoin will be go down and another good buying point.

Its turning ugly but what can we do? Nobody can talk this guy out from completely dumping and putting pressure on the already volatile market.

He doesn't have $1.7 bn to dump!

MtGox went bankrupt in August 2014, when the price was $487 per bitcoin, which meant the total liabilities were about $400 million.

The trustee has sold just enough to meet all those liabilities. The rest of the coins belong to Karpeles who won't dump them.
1007  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kobayashi and his malicious sellout 400 million USD on: March 11, 2018, 05:35:51 PM
I believe his job is to get the best price possible to reimburse those that lost out in the bankruptcy. If he didn't do that he would he would be negligent and get fired. His job description doesn't include any consideration to what effect that has on Bitcoin.

This. And it's good that he waited till Dec 2017 to sell instead of selling in say Dec 2015 when the market price was $170 and the sale would have tanked bitcoin to zero.
1008  Economy / Speculation / Re: Momentum remains weak, price will dip again. on: March 11, 2018, 03:02:00 PM
According to the following, it's a good time to buy bitcoin:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckjones/2018/03/10/the-bitcoin-misery-index-bmi-is-flashing-a-buy-signal/#5be3e7a46a22

Tom Lee, Fundstrat Global Advisors' Head of Research, introduced a Bitcoin Misery Index, or BMI, on Friday. Lee describes the BMI as a proxy for how investors feel about Bitcoin’s “price action.” It is a numerical index that ranges from 0 to 100 and incorporates the win-ratio, or percentage of days that Bitcoin is up, and the upside less downside volatility.

The way to view the BMI is similar to the Relative Strength Index (RSI) or Moving Average Convergence/Divergence (MACD) that equity technicians use to determine if a stock or Index is oversold or overbought. When the reading is low, such as close to or below 30 for the RSI, it tends to show an oversold condition. When the reading is high, close to or above 70 for the RSI, it tends to indicate an overbought condition (see the chart at the end of this note for these indicators as they relate to Bitcoin).

Lee’s trigger points for Bitcoin are 27 for a Buy signal and 67 for a Sell signal. The BMI is currently at 18.8, the lowest point since 16.2 in September 2011 .
1009  Economy / Economics / Re: FINANCIAL TIPS on: March 11, 2018, 02:41:18 PM
Well, here is my tip:

Buy a house, and then overpay the mortgage as much as you can. You want to get to the point where you own your home outright and don't have to pay either rent or mortgage. The psychological safety you feel when you get there will be priceless. Once you own your property outright, then start diversifying into other assets.
1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bcash fanboys learned the value of BTC in these hard times. on: March 11, 2018, 01:57:21 PM
Nobody has "betrayed" anyone.

In a free market, anyone can fork a coin (it's all open source anyway), and anyone can support any coin they want. That's what freedom is all about.

It's not like we're living in a Stalinist society where people are told what to do!
1011  Economy / Speculation / Re: sunday dumping on: March 11, 2018, 01:02:04 PM
Bitcoin does seem to go down on a Sunday night.  We'll have to wait and see if it does that again.  It's going up now at this minute.  I think it will drop again back to under 8.5k tonight.  But as usual it's anybody's guess.

Whose Sunday night, that's the question.

At the moment it is 13:00 GMT, it's 8 a.m. in New York, the San Franciscans are still asleep, but it's 10 p.m. in Tokyo.

So any "sunday dumping" you have noticed has been done in Asia.
1012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has a forked cryptocurrency ever been more valuable than the original? on: March 11, 2018, 12:40:28 PM
The answer is YES.

Ethereum is a fork of Ethereum Classic, and is much more valuable than the original.

There is no law saying the original coin must be the most valuable -that is decided by the market. In the case of Ethereum, Vitalek Buterin backed the forked coin and market money flowed to it.
1013  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin down ( Mt. Gox is dumping ) on: March 10, 2018, 05:03:49 PM
Well, I don't think the fact that Mt. Gox is creating selling pressure could be the only reason of the price falling. If there's a downgoing market sentiment then it's not just Mt.Gox that should be blamed. After all, the ones holding balances at the now bankrupt exchange should be compensated.

The truth is, everyone was selling in December. That is why the mempool was so full - everyone was trying to get their coins to teh exchange to sell.

I feel sorry for this poor trustee - as usual people like to find scapegoats.
1014  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you believe is needed for crypto currencies to be mass adopted? on: March 10, 2018, 04:56:03 PM
People need to be able to use it in their daily lives. That's why the move in Arizona to allow people to pay their taxes in cryptocurrency is so important. Once you have an ecosystem where you can pay for everything in crypto, there is no need for exchanges to convert to fiat at all.
1015  Economy / Speculation / Re: Copper - the forgotten hedge against inflation on: March 10, 2018, 04:26:51 PM
Honestly speaking, I really have no idea that you could invest into copper.  Shocked I'm very new when it comes to metal valuation and as you can clearly see, I don't have any investment that include those metals. If what the video's saying is true, it will be worth it to check copper and assess its value (whether it will be a good or bad investment) in the coming years. Diversification really help you get over in this kind of market that we have now (cryptosphere). Thanks for sharing this one.  Wink

You just invest in copper mininhg companies. Most of which are in Chile (25%), USA (16%) and Australia (6%)
1016  Economy / Speculation / Wall Street Analyst Creates ‘Bitcoin Misery Index’ For Traders on: March 10, 2018, 04:24:04 PM

Wall Street strategist and co-founder of Fundstrat Global Advisors Thomas Lee has developed a ‘contrarian index’ that lets investors know how ‘miserable’ Bitcoin (BTC) holders are based on current prices, CNBC reports.

The index is called the Bitcoin Misery Index (BMI) and was designed as a trading tool for investors to take advantage of volatility in BTC exchanges. BMI is calculated on a scale of zero to 100, taking into account factors such as volatility and the number of winning trades out of the total. When the indicator is low, the buying opportunity is at its best, and vice versa.

“When the bitcoin misery index is at ‘misery’ (below 27), bitcoin sees the best 12-month performance. A signal is generated about every year,” Lee explained to CNBC in a Friday report. "When the BMI is at a 'misery' level, future returns are very good."

At the moment, the Bitcoin index is at 18.8, which is an absolute minimum since Sept. 6, 2011, the report said.

1017  Economy / Economics / Re: The men behind our future! on: March 10, 2018, 04:15:03 PM
You forgot to mention Satoshi Nakamoto. Our future is connected to bitcoin and the blockchain.
Perhaps you should mention Edison and Tesla. All the computers, smart phones and internet can`t run without electricity.I don`t know why you are making this thread. We all are paying tribute to the fathers of the modern technology every day.

All Edison did was produce the lightbulb and lobby politicians to lay electric cables everywhere.

The real hero of the electric story is Italian physicist Alessandro Volta, who invented the early battery in 1800, and then produced and sent a current.
1018  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Qarnot unveils a cryptocurrency heater for your home on: March 10, 2018, 04:02:59 PM

French startup Qarnot unveiled a new computing heater specifically made for cryptocurrency mining. You’ve read that right, the QC1 is a heater for your home that features a passive computer inside. And this computer is optimized for mining.

While most people use laptops, back in the golden days of computer towers, you could heat a room with a couple of desktop computers. And heat is still one of the biggest challenges when you’re building a data center. You have to cool thousands of computers that run 24/7.

Qarnot started thinking about edge computing for data centers back in 2010. The company has built three generations of computing heaters with multiple CPUs and sold them to construction companies looking for heaters for their new buildings.

At the other end of the equation, companies such as BNP Paribas, Société Générale, Air Liquide and Blender rent those servers for their own needs. In other words, Qarnot has built a decentralized data center.

1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where have all the cypherpunks gone? on: March 10, 2018, 03:58:50 PM
You sound a lot like the people who lamented that the internet, which was supposed to level the playing field and allow the little guy as much power as a big corporation, got taken over by bigger and bigger corporations, to the point that the old style small blogger with their own lovingly tended domain, has just disappeared.

This is how adoption looks...
1020  Economy / Economics / Re: Israeli PM: Bitcoin Could Replace Banks on: March 10, 2018, 03:46:51 PM
Bitcoin might replace the payment processing part of banks. But I doubt it will replace the lending side. And lets face it, most of what banks do is lend money (business loans, mortgages, car loans etc). The economy would collapse if lending disappeared.
