1001  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: June 14, 2011, 11:32:41 PM
I have two rigs mining but this is my main one:

Two 5870's.  One is overclocked at 1120/500 → 469 MHash/s.  The other has a minimal overclock (900/600) → 376 MHash/s.

Serious question:  Why do you have so much radiator surface area?  Do you need that much area to dump the heat?  Is your water temperature running near ambient temps?  Did you have to add more radiators because your delta was getting too large?  I ask because back in the day when I designed my own water cooling system (before you could buy them in a box) I was able to get away with a radiator about 250mm x 120mm.
1002  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GUIMiner just doesn't work for me :[ on: June 14, 2011, 07:54:15 AM
The one box I use the CUDA miner on took forever to start getting work.  All day long I was in my firewall config console inspecting packets, opening ports, trying different stuff.  Then I went back to GUI Miner and BAM, it was hashing.  I dunno what's up with it.  As long as it says it has allocated it's probably working.

Usually people don't list in their car ad that their car isn't stolen and they bought it legally.  I've also never seen a car ad with only one picture in the last 5 years.  Just sayin'...

From what I have read that is just the way MSI Afterburner works.  No config hacks can change that behavior.
1005  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: CPU effect on 2x 6870 mining operation? on: June 14, 2011, 07:23:57 AM
I ususally run a cheap dual core

That cheap dual core, unless you live in a college dorm, or don't have to pay for electricity, costs you more money in electricity bills then it will make for you. And if you are living under your parents roof. It costs them more money then you will make from that CPU.
He meant just to get the system running.  Not to mine on the CPU.

"-v -w128" should net you a nice little boost.

So I just bought The Real Plato a tank of gas for bitcoins and talked to him for about an hour tonight.  I would love to tell the story in his main thread, but I'm just a newbie of course  Wink

My name is Matt, and I'm a Bitcoin mine-aholic  Grin  Just bought The Real Plato a tank of gas for bitcoins and thought I would tell the story on the main forums.  Gotta post in newbie section first I guess.  Spammers are gay.
