1041  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My experience with bitcoin ATM. Had to wait as was in use. on: August 11, 2017, 11:44:15 PM
There's not a single bitcoin ATM in my country so I haven't tried using one ever. Having a bitcoin ATM seems convenient to have especially for bitcoin users like us but the fees and waiting time makes it a bit discouraging. That sounds like a long time for you to wait for confirmation. If that's the case, wouldn't it be easier and more convenient to just use an exchange wallet instead?
1042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally Bitcoin is in the schools for students to explore on: August 11, 2017, 08:54:50 AM
That sounds great! I hope the other countries would do the same. Education is key to success and I think if we spread more information about Bitcoin, it would provide more opportunities especially to the youth. Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology are concepts that should be given more notice and recognition worldwide.

As users, let's continue our support for the promotion of Bitcoin!
1043  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin for all levels of society, without any difference on: August 11, 2017, 08:11:11 AM
Bitcoin is decentralized so that whoever you are from wherever you are rich or poor, you are free to use bitcoin for any purpose. Bitcoin is freely used for anyone. anywhere

What is your response with this opinion?
Its true but for it to become practical, some basic essentials should be satisfied.Bitcoin users should be able to have a laptop or pc and i think its hard for very poor people to satisfy this requirement.next, access to internet which could not be expected to be available in all parts of the world in today's situation as under developed countries don't have good internet facilities.Unless these requirements are met, bitcoin could not be expected to be used by people of all levels of society.

Yes! Come to think of it, even if Bitcoin is open to everyone and available for use to all classes in society, those belonging in the lower classes do not have the resources to access Bitcoin.

Just imagine, you need to have internet and a device such as a laptop/computer or cellphone for you to gain access to Bitcoin. Of course those from the lower class do not have the luxury to have these things. Also, there are other expenses such as having to pay for transaction fees and the like.

To be frank with it, Bitcoin is available to everyone and to all levels of society but sadly not everyone have the means to.
1044  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: For the record, being rich =/= being happy on: August 11, 2017, 08:00:52 AM
That's true, there are a lot of rich folks who have a lot of possessions and can afford anything but are not happy or satisfied with their life. The world revolves around money but we have to keep in mind that there is more to life than getting rich. Some people's end goal in life is to become rich, and spend a lot of effort and time to earn money. Money is unarguably a necessity but really it is not a measure of one's success.
1045  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM locations on a rapid increase... on: August 11, 2017, 05:16:40 AM
BTMs are a scam. The prices they want per Bitcoin is way above the real market price. It would be better to wire transfer money to an exchange that will cost $10 at most.

Why move Bitcoin backwards by making ATMs? Mobile wallets and NFC technology should be the new norm.

Just understand that Bitcoin ATMs aren't put up to help people buy and sell bitcoins. They put them up to make profit, as most businesses do. I still agree though, the fees are abysmal. They should atleast lower them to a reasonable fee percentage. I think their main target audience are the people who are new to bitcoin, and if alot of bitcoin ATMs are being opened, it looks like their strategy is working.

Where are these bitcoin ATMs showing up anyway? In the United States I assume? Not a single bitcoin ATM on my country as of now.

I wanted to ask the same, where exactly are these bitcoin ATMs sprouting up? Because where I'm from, there's not a single bitcoin ATM in my country as of now so I'm not sure how it works and how high the fees are.

I initially thought that Bitcoin ATMs would be convenient for the Bitcoin users, and would serve as a handy exchange. I didn't think that it would be a scam and I instead thought that it would function like the ATMs of a bank, providing convenience to the bank account holders. However if the fees too high, then that is unfortunate.
1046  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Getting Scammed: Go to Police or Cut Losses and Move On? on: August 10, 2017, 01:14:10 AM
Legally speaking, you would have to make a police report so that the criminals in question may be put to justice. But if you just want people to be aware of these kind of scams, then it would just be best to expose them as you did by posting here in this forum. Since you are not concerned in getting your money back, which is as well might be hard, then I don't think you need to go to the police.

The choice of course would be up to you. International law and jurisdiction is sometimes tricky, especially with cases pertaining to crimes and scams like this. With the evidences you mentioned, it may be hard to prove your case much less gather the security cam footage. My advice to you is to be cautious next time and to warn your friends and fellow btc users.
1047  Economy / Economics / Re: Is trading just educated guessing? on: August 10, 2017, 12:47:47 AM
Can you really be sure you will profit unless you have insider info?
No, you don't necessarily need insider info to be a successful trader, but it helps, a lot. Wink
Trading is not about guessing, of course you can do that too, but don't forget that we have market indicators, news and expectations.
You said it - you need to be educated - and when you are educated enough you will have higher chance of making good trading decisions.

Obviously, having the need for insider info means that trading is more than just guessing. I agree that it is not needed but it could help the trader in determining the best time to buy or sell. From insider info, the trader may be able to make predictions out of it. More than just guessing, you have to research and learn the trends for you to make good trading decisions. There's a risk to trading, kind of like gambling, but it has lower risks of losing or winning.
1048  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Bounty campaign - Lately waste of time and energy on: August 09, 2017, 02:21:32 PM
This is real talk and its really a waste of time if a certain ICO wont able to pay you out or if they pay they do only give amounts which is very small which isnt really worth for our time and effort. I would really suggest to limit the participants so that bounty distributions or partitions would really be sufficient and would really be worth it for their promoters unlike on dont having limits i can say its not really worth to join in.

Yup, it's true. Some of the campaign managers are also very sloppy, and are not that very organized. Some don't even use escrows so the payments are not trusted. I agree that bounty participants should be paid even when the project fails or when the payout for the token sale is not met. It is unfair for the participants who have exerted effort and wore their signatures for their campaign.

I guess that one should just learn and research on the ICO first before participating so that you don't waste your time and effort.
1049  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin business idea on: August 09, 2017, 01:05:23 PM
I'd probably open an online shop that would allow the Bitcoin users to purchase a variety of items such as clothes, shoes, accessories and other assorted products. Something like amazon or eBay but the payment system accepts BTC. I think that this provide more options for the BTC owners of where to spend their bitcoin and at the same time, it would attract other people to use Bitcoin.
1050  Economy / Economics / Re: Would bitcoin help teach kids about saving? on: August 09, 2017, 04:12:57 AM
So I have 2 cousins. One of them doesn't save and is a huge spender while the other is a saver and spends only once a year. So would bitcoin be a good way to teach them about saving? Since, mining bitcoin is the only way to make alot of bitcoin, I would use a alt wallet to show them what happens if you spend and don't save. What do you think?

I think it can be a good example for them when you will be telling them about saving especially when they will be using digital currency to save. But if you will be giving off bitcoin as an example, you must give them an explanation about how the price change and how volatile their price is.

I agree, Bitcoin could be a good example for them. What's good is that BTC is a digital currency, so they won't be able to spend or use it without some help. Ever since I used Bitcoin, I became conscious of my finances and expenses. It has taught me to become more mindful of my savings and expenses. This could do the same for kids, although I think that Bitcoin may be too technical and advanced for them. Mining might be too much for them to grasp, but it might be good to show them how to save and to start as early as now. Or you could open up a bank account for them to make them save up themselves.
1051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are you using bitcoins for? on: August 09, 2017, 03:03:02 AM
I'm not a miner, an investor, nor do I do any btc transactions in the black market. I've been keeping my BTC earnings so that I start with trading in the future. For now, I've been trying to educate myself on how to trade while at the same time I've been saving up my BTC earnings. I also intend to keep some of my BTC for long term investment.

When the need arises, I exchange some of my BTC for extra cash or to spend on some needed expenses. There are a lot of ways to use Bitcoin, but I think its best to invest it.
1052  Economy / Economics / Re: Best way for steady income on: August 07, 2017, 01:07:33 AM
On this forum you can get a steady income from signature campaign but that won't be enough for living as the payouts are not too high but you will surely earn something if you have a higher rank account and if you are a part of good campaign but you cannot rely only on it for earning money.

It's true that you can generate good income from signature campaigns, especially when you have an account that has a high rank but you shouldn't rely on it that much. Signature campaigns can't be counted as steady income because they may not last long. A signature campaign may end in a month, or even less. Just consider it as side income. To have a steady income it would still be best to look for a job, because this would give you a fixed salary.
1053  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: cash out as minor on: August 07, 2017, 12:36:07 AM
For one to withdraw large amounts of money from a bank, I think you would be able to do so even if you are a minor so long as the account is under your name. There are some banks, however, that don't allow minors to open an account under the name unless it is linked to one with an adult. If you were to withdraw a large amount from an exchange wallet, I think you would need some verification. I think that this would depend on the policy of your wallet, so you might want to double check on that. Perhaps if you break down your withdrawal to small amount, a minor might be able to do so.
1054  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your way of spreading Bitcoin knowledge? on: August 07, 2017, 12:25:37 AM
Unlike you, we don't have debit cards for bitcoin here in my country. It's initially hard for me to introduce Bitcoin to family and friends, much more with strangers. I try sharing about Bitcoin to them through word of mouth, and by showing them my coin wallet and this forum. I would tell them about the benefits there are to Bitcoin, and introduce them to trading and investing. I also have a twitter account to retweet about Bitcoin news and information but it doesn't have that much followers.
1055  Economy / Economics / Re: transition FIAT to DIGITAL? on: August 06, 2017, 05:34:12 PM
It will take much time before the world shifts toward mass use of a digital currency and Bitcoin will replace fiat money as a currency. Currently, many countries have recognized Bitcoin as a currency and I think that this is a great step towards it. For this to happen, I think that it should be first be made available to everyone. Everyone should have access to it, and technology should advance to allow convenience for every user.

It may take several years first before this may happen, but I think that a shift towards a cashless society and the use of digital currency would revolutionize society and its use of money.
1056  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: So I want to get into trading. on: August 06, 2017, 11:45:06 AM
It's hard to tell and predict whether and when the price will go up or down, but so far the trend of BTC price has been increasing. Decide for yourself when is the best time to buy, because the price is really unpredictable and experiences frequent fluctuations.

If you want to start out trading altcoins, I suggest you research thoroughly on what altcoin to buy and invest on. It's inevitable for you to make an investment for you to able to get into trading, so I suggest you either earn a bit first or borrow. Also, be prepared to lose some because there are always some risks in trading.
1057  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: regret by not believing in BITCOIN? on: August 06, 2017, 10:56:25 AM
I haven't heard about Bitcoin as early as 2009 but my first encounter with Bitcoin was in 2015. However, I started out with Bitcoin just this year. Back then, I already made a wallet but I could not fully understand the concept of Bitcoin so I eventually lost interest for it and simply ignored it. Had I already made some investments back then, I might have earned much more especially with the much higher price for BTC.

It's not unlikely for one to be skeptical back then when Bitcoin was not yet that popular as now, but there's no need to regret it because you can start now. Bitcoin still has a long way to go and has high potential to grow even more.
1058  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hotels accepting bitcoin on: August 05, 2017, 11:40:08 PM
This is a good step from the casino owner. If this is successful and move without any issues for quite some time then surely bitcoins demand will grow exponentially. Because this hotel business is very big in worldwide. But if they implement it correctly and don't face any issues then it will be big news for bitcoin holders and traders. Earlier Fiverr was also accepting bitcoins but they stopped after some time so if these guys also do the same mistake than it will be a big setback for using Bitcoin in mainstream businesses.

I agree, this benefits both the casino/hotel owner and its customers. It's good to hear that more in the industry are accepting Bitcoin now. Perhaps this hotel is trying to keep up with its consumers because they probably encountered Bitcoin or there may be a lot of tourists that use Bitcoin. Other than being a great investment, Bitcoin is becoming more and more adaptable as a currency. The casino business should have allowed its guests to gamble using Bitcoin as well, because there a lot of Bitcoin holders and users who gamble.

More power to Bitcoin! May it be accepted in many more industries as well to allow ease and convenience to its users.
1059  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to earn Bitcoin without investment on: August 05, 2017, 04:32:47 PM
I've been earning bitcoins without investment by joining a signature campaign, which is one of the many ways to earn Bitcoin. You can also check out other sites that offer to pay Bitcoin in exchange for services such as freelance projects, graphic design or data entry jobs. There's a section here in this forum that offers some services so you might want to check that out because there's a lot of options for you there to earn some Bitcoins.

Among the various ways mentioned here, I think these are the best ways as compared to faucets or gambling.
1060  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading Bitcoin for real estate? on: August 05, 2017, 02:51:15 AM
For me, buying real estate is a good investment. If I were to buy one now at a cheap location but is located somewhere that is developing and has the prospects of appreciating over time, then I would have the option to sell it at a much higher price in the future. Also, I could have it rented out and this would give me passive income. Or maybe I can use it as a collateral.

I don't have enough Bitcoin yet to do this especially at present since land is expensive especially at urban areas but in the future I plan to do so because buying land and property is a good asset.
