401  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Let's form a bounty management team interested in representing bounty hunters on: May 28, 2018, 09:01:40 AM
It's going to be impossible to impose ICOs/bounties to pay in ETH, especially if they don't have the funds. This is why most ICOs pay in tokens - to reduce their costs. In a way, it's like free promotion and advertisement for them. I get the sentiment but it will be unlikely to enforce this even with forming a bounty management team. This may be the most viable option:

Who would be willing to join such campaigns with this restriction?
I think you approach this from the wrong point of view. Instead of making demands to the campaign, you should be able to offer something. If you'd manage to get many real people with real accounts and real friends to join, you'll have something valuable for campaigns, which means you can make demands.

Which may be hard to achieve because most of those who want to join campaigns are desperate and resort to creating fake accounts and spamming just to earn extra.
402  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Does holding long term can be worthy despite of unpredictable market? on: May 28, 2018, 08:42:30 AM
I am still eager to think more positive ways despite how unpredicatable the market is. We couldn't control it actually because if there's an option to manipulate the current market, I woudl really love to do that. We're bound here to earn profit so the desire is always there , but since the current situation remarkably stressing us out, maybe we must stay calm for the main time.

Holding for long is not something general. For some people one week is too long for them and to others its six months. For other coins, I wouldn't consider just holding long period without bothering to check the status of the market especially coins that are not popular the next thing you would see is by the time you want to check what is going on, the coin has been delisted and if you had a huge amount kept, you have just lost a huge chunk of money. But for bitcoin and the some of the high volume coins, real long-term always pay off no matter how one spin it. When I looked back the amount of btc I have sold when I get the transaction history of my wallet, I imagine how rich I would have become if only I had been strong enough not to have sold at the time when I did. In all we all need to establish when "Long-term" begins.

Establishing when "long-term" begins is another thing.

I imagine for those who acquired bitcoin a long time ago and are now seeing how much they have gained must be having a hard time whether to sell or to keep on hodling. A year may be considered already as term while others plan on selling their coins by the time they retire.

Long term hodling will be worthy despite of the market depending on the coins you have. It's really the hodlers responsibility to determine which are worth for long term investment. The unpredictability should not be a factor if you plan on selling once the price hits a desired amount.
403  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-26] South African Police Investigate $80 Million Bitcoin Ponzi Scheme on: May 28, 2018, 01:57:00 AM

SHITE like this, gives Bitcoin a bad reputation.  Angry Angry Angry

Bitcoin haven't revolutionized the scamming and other activities, there are way more scams and ponzi schemes featuring bank payments than those that are focused around Bitcoin. People who are aware of them understand that it's not a problem exclusive to Bitcoin, so Bitcoin's reputation does not suffer here. Those who are pointing out scams to criticize Bitcoin are usually already prejudiced against it, so it doesn't matter much.

Actually, many of these scams make people think that bitcoin/crypto = ponzi scam or hyip schemes. Even when there many other form of these scams found in different areas or with the use of fiat, and is hardly any different with the ones used with crypto, most people get the wrong idea. These kind of news get associated to crypto negatively and it does give a bad reputation.
404  Economy / Economics / Re: Should we teach children to have businessman mentality or be successful employee on: May 27, 2018, 11:03:21 AM
I am in favor of teaching the children to be business oriented. It will make them more independent and knows how to earn money at an early age.Anytime they can apply for any job but if they know how to manage a business they can have both.
here on the Philippines McDonald's are offering summer programs for kids as service crew for them. To teach them how to make burgers and greet customers. It left me to realize that this is employee mentality. Why not reach a child to bake cookies so that he can have additional income even when Summer breaks.

Some great businessmen and CEOs are successful because of the experience they’ve had. Not only do they know how to be good leaders, but they know how it is like or have experienced how it is down the lines. I don’t see anything wrong with being taught to be a good employee.

From what I know, in Uniqlo (famous retail store) you’ll first have to go through sales first before getting up the ranks. No one gets to be manager before going through those levels first.

Of course, having your own business is different altogether. The hard part of entreneurship is coming up with something that’s unique or new to the market, and of course making it survive. There are a lot of businesses that fail because of poor management.
405  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-19]High School Students in the Netherlands Are to Pass an Exam on Bitco on: May 20, 2018, 06:32:22 AM
That's actually quite surprising. If you haven't been somewhat notified about these type of questions, I can understand that people will struggle with them, even if they have heard of it in the media or whatever.

I'm sure that a lot people here on this forum don't even know the very basics of Bitcoin, so how can we expect that from complete strangers? A lot of the average joes are only hyped about the potential returns.

They have no idea what the underlying technology is and how it functions in basic terms. Making money is their only incentive right now, and I seriously hope that it will change eventually. We nearly all started like that, right?

That’s quite true. Many here in this forum don’t even know the other components or functions of bitcoin or cryptocurrencies itself because they mainly focus on how to generate money from it.

Hopefully this new school requirement in the Netherlands would lead to more scholarly discussion about bitcoin and crypto. It’s not a surprise that not many have knowledge about it because there’s not that much sources of information to get from. Aside from some websites or blogs, there should be scholarly articles and journals related to crypto for people to take it seriously, and not think of it as merely a scam or easy way to get rich.
406  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin may continue to move higher on: May 07, 2018, 07:49:57 AM
Although the correction continues to occur in the crypto market, I will still remain confident that bitcoin still has a chance or potential to move higher. Bitcoin prices so far are still hesitant, imo. I think we'll see the next increase and probably will be close to $15k at the end of the month.

It wasn’t just a correction. We have been experiencing a bearish trend for quite some time now, but it’s fortunate to see that the price has gone up. Since the price has been down, the price may still increase for the upcoming days. Still a long way before hitting about $15K again or another ATH. Anything could still happen at this point, so we should still expect the best and the worst.

408  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-06] Azerbaijan to Tax Crypto Incomes and Profits on: May 06, 2018, 07:52:08 AM
It is good to know that they are taking a positive stance towards cryptocurrencies by having an association especially dedicated to cryptocurrencies. I do hope that for those countries who are deciding to ban crypto would just build an association like them to combat those fraudulent actions involving cryptocurrencies.

Unfortunately, other countries would just prefer to impose a ban rather than to deal with these cryptocurrencies. It's sad that they don't even make the time first to understand or learn about crypto which potentially would benefit their country instead of ridding it totally. A nation's government should have the prerogative to make decisions for the betterment of their country, and sometimes making a ban is not always the best.
409  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Rampant Scams Getting Serious on: April 30, 2018, 04:37:26 PM
Yes, it's great that you're trying to help by creating some awareness but I'd have to agree with this:

Greed is greed, my friend. People should be more educated about Bitcoin, but this will not help with the scams that much.
Someone will come up with a new altcoin or something and promise easy money and people will jump to it because they are naive and greedy.

Same with pyramid schemes. Everyone knows about them, but they are still very popular under a different name of "multi-level marketing".
They use the same stupid trick in crypto space as well. You really need no skills to change a face of the same old trick.
Bitconnect was the same thing and yet was very popular.

You can't fix this mate. Some people are greedy and stupid, they always will be. You can't help them with every little new shape that the same old scam takes.
Until they learn that you can't earn without work, they are helpless.

Even with all the education or awareness made, it's not going to help if people will keep on believing that there are easy ways for them to get rich. These kind of people will go through extreme extents just to have money and this is why they fall for scams.
410  Economy / Services / Re: [ENDED]BITPLAY SIGNATURE /AFFILIATE CAMPAIGN | PM eth add. [3 weeks] [ENDED] on: April 26, 2018, 12:05:07 AM
If they had the intention of running a signature campaign for 3 weeks, they should have at least had some funds set aside. I don't see how paying for the one week that was already consummated should be a problem even if they have suddenly decided to stop the signature campaign (which is very unprofessional by the way since it has already started - even if their findings were that other marketing strategies are more effective or profitable, they should have researched on this before starting the campaign).

They should at least pay the btc equivalent of what they owe to the participants, and not with their tokens since it does not equate with value. The users didn't participate in this campaign just to be paid in tokens and it wasn't what was agreed upon. Even now that there are delays with the token payments, it shows how unprofessional they are since they do not stick to their word. Who would continue to deal with such people/dev team?
411  Economy / Services / Re: BITTO.TECH - [PAUSED] FOR 2 WEEKS - SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN on: April 25, 2018, 11:47:06 PM
The campaign hasn't even started yet it's already paused - and the campaign manager didn't even give a good reason why. He didn't even fulfill his word of updating the spreadsheet or let us know who the accepted participants are within 24 hours as he has promised, then comes around only days after. Wearing the signature shouldn't have been a requirement in applying if he wasn't planning on announcing the participants immediately as he had said.

His other campaign has problems with payment too. Lot of red flags here. It's a good thing thing it hasn't even started otherwise we might encounter even more problems.
412  Other / Meta / Re: I am flabbergasted that it actually happens on this scale on: April 23, 2018, 07:23:52 AM
It's crazy how they have the time to participate in that many campaigns. They probably use bots because it's just physically impossible to handle that much accounts in several different ICO/bounty campaigns. It would have been fine for people to earn from bounties but this has made others spam everywhere (not only in this forum but in other forms of social media such as "tweeter") and they have taken too much advantage of this earning mechanism.

414  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: how often do you check BTC price and how to cope with stress? on: April 19, 2018, 02:36:07 PM
I have to admit that it’s actually stressful to check the price every  now and then especially if you’re itching for the right time to make a sell. To cope with the stress, I check out the recent news on crypto and see what may have affecred the price. This allows me to understand why the price behaves the way it does. If there are any good news about btc, I can expect the price to go up and it helps me ease up a bit even while the price is low.
415  Economy / Economics / Re: World debt hits new record: good for BTC on: April 19, 2018, 02:22:35 PM
I don’t see how this is good for BTC, or good for anyone in fact. If the world debt continues to increase and the government is unable to spend, then this would affect everyone even for those who use bitcoin and maybe bitcoin itself will get affected badly. When it reaches up to the point where the govrnment runs out for public spending  then many sectors of society will be affected such as education, infrastucture, industries etc. then shit hits the fan when this happens.
416  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-17] Mastercard to Apply Blockchain Tech to Fighting Fake Identities on: April 19, 2018, 02:18:06 PM
Finally, the blockchain is being utilized resourcefully. Other companies should do so as well, as there are many uses for blockchain tehcnology. It’s nice to see that Mastercard has embraced this technology instead of just shunning it. This would facilitate towards the improvement of the security of the data of their customers, which has been a problem these days. There are too many frauds and scams these days due to how easy it is to recover data.
417  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: For bounty managers, suggestions for deleted Facebook crypto related posts on: April 18, 2018, 01:56:23 AM
Now that most cryptocurrency ads is restricted in facebook, ICO is facing difficulty too landing on facebook's timeline of bounty campaign participants.

I suggest that every two days you check your participants posts so that the chance of making it in your spreadsheet to record would not go to waste. It is just hard to think that your effort is going nowhere.

And anymore suggestions from bounty hunters are also good to help bounty hunters.

Do you have evidence for itvmste. As si have checked and got the information about the Facebook ads. They only vanishing the sponsored channels and pages I do not this will complete bunty side.
I believe still we will be able to promote the project with the simple share of high friendlist account in Facebook. Hence they will get the more number of views.

Other than just sponsored ads, it's possible that even posts from users which relate to promoting or advertising ICO content. There's no verification to this but Facebook has not specified.

Also, Facebook may have some bots that automatically shuts down a post with banned content. The post would eventually be put down in just a matter of seconds or minutes, just like when a video is put up with copyrighted music. It would be useless to check even within the span of 2 days.
418  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is more like “a psychological experiment than a serious investment" on: April 18, 2018, 01:48:30 AM
He's probably trying to say that Bitcoin is only a figment of one's imagination, making it psychological. I don't see where he gets it from and what makes him think that Bitcoin has no application in computer science, but it's obvious that he lacks knowledge about bitcoin. Many even suggest that it's the other way around and that bitcoin has nothing to do with economics but is more technological because it involves coding. Before making such statements, he should do his homework first.
419  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-04-16] Buyer Loses $278,000 USD in Bitcoin Robbery on: April 17, 2018, 01:24:44 AM
Security issues aside I don't think it's unreasonable for the Singaporean police to examine the source of the funds in this case.

The buyer was purchasing about 35 BTC which is unusual.  It is even more unusual to purchase the BTC using cash in a hotel room.

Usually this type of Over the Counter (OTC) transaction would pay using a wire transfer and some sort of escrow service to make sure each side holds up their part of the arrangement.

Singapore is a major financial center which has a higher usage of crypto than in the West so I'm sure the police were wondering why this 'business transaction' was processed in this manner.

Other than theft, it's possible that another illegal activity may be underlying to this transaction. It could possibly be money laundering or money to be used for the purchase of illegal material such as drugs etc. The amount is too huge, even for a big time investor. Even if it were in fiat, the authority would find the amount to be suspicious and even if the theft did not occur, it should still be looked into.
420  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Germany Approves Cryptocurrency As Legal Means Of Payment on: April 17, 2018, 01:19:21 AM
I don't believe this is going to happen. It seems to me that all governments will go the other way. They will simplify the procedure for enrollment of Fiat from the exchange of cryptocurrencies. This will make it possible to control the income of citizens but will not allow the use of cryptocurrencies as a currency. This will not jeopardize the economy.

Yes, it may be too early to "denationalizing the production of money". Even when it's positive news for crypto and bitcoin users within the country, it may not be possible to adopt this at a nationwide level. Germany may be trying to advance however they may be jumping a bit too far. Fiat is still the most convenient to use as of the moment and unless technology immediately advances and develops to help facilitate the use of crypto as a currency, then it may not be realized yet for the moment even if their government wants to.
