Yes that is not down. That is why I said it is moving sideways - slightly down. I hope you can also see it from my point of view and avoid this petty argument. But I think we both would agree that for the time being BTC will not go above $600. For how long it will stay under $600 will be different for most people, but mine is until the end of the year. That is because there could be another fall in price that will take it at the low $500's. That's where we should all start buying in my opinion.

Ok, I have read some people answered that BTC would get its base value from gold if there was no fiat. So what does that mean? Will each satoshi be backed by a fixed amount of gold? Will it be the Gold Standard all over again.
Therefore again I will ask, "If there was no gold where will BTC base its value?"

are you really asking this? there is always a range for any price, for bitcoin this range is slightly bigger than other markets like gold or forex. and right now this range is around $570 and unless it goes to $550 you can not call it sideways or "slightly down"! and even $20 is not unusual for bitcoin. What would you call it right now? Is still going up currently? Please look at the chart and tell me what it is really doing. It is going sideways and slightly down from where I am looking. |

I think when OP wrote this, we were dropping to something like $518 or so. I bought a little on the way down, made some money on the way back up. Not much--I should've kept buying, but oh well.
This wasn't a trend. It was just the usual bumps we see in crypto all the time. Now as to the current level we're at...it's a damn good time to buy, I'd say.
It good no doubt about it now jyst buy cuz price is going up for sure this year and there will be no error in this Price is recovering and slowly goes up and buying now us best option There is still a possibility of it going down. So the better option is to watch and observe, save money and be ready to buy at lower prices. This is a time for bargain hunting especially in times like these when the market has low volatility. |

I think Gavin does not need a blockchain for his idea of a payment platform. Maybe what he needs really is a database? Or some sort of private blockchain where he can do whatever he wants in it. But that defeats the purpose of why a blockchain is a "blockchain".
Anyhow maybe bitcoin is not where he is supposed to be and maybe he will fit right in with other development teams like the one in Ripple.

This is not a brag and it is not a prediction. I am just trying to tell everyone what is happening right now. Bitcoin has to go down a little bit more and be accumulated at a lower price before it can go up again. It is still a seller's market right now so why risk buying now when you can buy at a lower price?
Also I can be wrong because there could be a pump coming. But with all the variables staying the same we might not see this go up above $600 for a while.
You should know that bitcoin is a crypto currency, and if in this time, it is down, so why you worried about it, also bitcoin is under $500 to $600, so it is not too much low price which we take tension. Also the time is not far when bitcoin will be going to up. But one think is clear, that bitcoin is not going to dead, so use you sense and look at the reality, nothing is wrong. I never said there is something wrong about it. Please reread what I said and try to understand what I am trying to say. I also never said BTC is dying. Yes I use my common sense because when I look at the price of bitcoin, there is no sign right now that will make it go over $600. This could go on until the end of the year or longer because people will get anxious and start to unload because of their impatience. There is also the miners to think about. They need to sell their BTC mined to continue and maintain their operations, the same with the bitcoin merchants and businesses. |

No. I would prefer to put money in a stable altcoin than short on margin. Trading on leverage is the fastest way to make money but also the fastest way lose your money. Believe me, I have tried it once and only once. Never again.
But let us get back on topic. How can you deny that BTC is going sideways-slightly down right now and could stay under $600 until the end of the year or later. I am not saying that it is a bad thing. It is actually good because it needs to be accumulated first before it can go up again.

Not much has been going on with Bitcoin's price for the past 3 weeks or so now. How stable do you think this price point is?
Bitcoin is not really known for its stability. Sooner or later we know it will move again and hopefully it moves up. But in my opinion it needs to go down slightly in order for it to get accumulated more by strong hands before the day traders get to pump it again increasing volatility again. Many people see that a downward price direction as bad. It's not, it needs to go down so it could go up in my opinion. |

This is a hard questoin and its impossible to happen that there is no fiat.. but if there is no fiat we compare the btc value in other things like gold we will base in grams how many grams of gold for btc..
But how do we determine how many satoshis we pay for each gram of gold? Who decides? How do we decide? |

Let say that you have 1 cow that has $ 300 value
if 1 BTC = $ 600 so 1 BTC can be trade for 2 cows
This was exactly what the answer I was looking for. But when there is no fiat there would be no "1 BTC = $600". How could we determine how much BTC there really is in one cow? How does the market decide? |

All I've heard about cloudmining is that you do not get to ROI usually. Some of them even become ponzi schemes and then close down eventually. The difficulty rise and the competing miners make it tough to profit so I would say just stay from it.
There's only one cloudminer I have heard good things about and that is Genesis mining but I have yet to try them.

I have been saying this many times and falls under deaf ears. BTC will stay under $600 until the end of the year. But right now most of the people here are still in denial. Once they realize that it will really stay under $600 they will start getting angry. So expect many bearish threads and "bitcoin is dead" threads to come.  Talk is cheap, while there are still four months remaining till the end of the year, anything can happen... Are you ready to put your money where your mouth is?  So how much are you going to stake exactly? How can I put my money where my mouth is when I said BTC will not go over $600 until the end of the year or maybe more? I will buy lower when BTC is at bargain prices. Right now especially after the Bitfinex hack I'll wait it out. |
