10541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What secure wallets needs 2fa before sending on: August 20, 2016, 02:31:37 PM
Blockchain.info requires SMS verification before logging in, that is some sort of 2FA.

They need to extend it to the sending of Bitcoins too, but if the 2FA was bypassed or compromised at login, no form of 2FA will help, when transactions are being send. You might link that to another mobile phone to strengthen the 2FA, if you want double protection.

In some countries SiM swap & duplication is quite common, so this is not 100% bulletproof.

I do not see how most of us would be needing such security measures. I see that most of the people in this thread are signature campaigners and newbies with less than one BTC in their wallets. No hacker will waste time and effort on our wallets. Cheesy
10542  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 20, 2016, 02:22:53 PM
In case you didn't notice bitcoin's price is always going up near end of a year. This cycle is so far constant and present every year - just check bitcoin price charts.
So claiming that bitcoin will stay under $600 at the end of this year in August is either trolling/wishful thinking based on pure fantasy.

I disagree. In the year 2014 there was not really a meaningful increase at the end of that year. Also your conclusion that BTC will increase at the end of the year just because it has increased in the past is lol. What kind of an analysis is that? Even if there was enough data to establish a statistical correlation, which there aint, between a price increase and the months of Nov and Dec, remember correlation is not causation. There will always be times of prices staying low in Nov and Dec.
10543  Economy / Economics / Re: What would it actually take to make BitCoin the most used currency in the world? on: August 19, 2016, 01:11:43 PM
What would need to happen to the global economy to actually make Bitcoin take over in place of National Currency like, USD, CAD or EURO?

So many people on here are banking on this happening one day, many even openly use this as a reason to invest in coins like Monero.
So I ask you, what do you think it would it actually take to make that happen?

WW3? An Asteroid, Alien Invasion?

Start by making BTC scalable and capable of handling thousands of transactions per second without bloating the blockchain too much and without further centralization of mining. Until then stop asking such questions and be happy with what we have. BTC is still awesome.
10544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Rakuten have purchased Bitnet to start a blockchain lab on: August 19, 2016, 01:03:36 PM
Who is Rakuten? What is Bitnet? And at what local bitcoin meet up, and where?

Please give more details so that we could all assess the information. It would also be nice if you could provide urls of the story if they are available.
10545  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The Bigest Bitcoin Open Souce Project in the world (now opend) on: August 19, 2016, 12:59:39 PM
This honestly sounds all too sketchy. I am sorry OP but we have seen people getting scammed over and over. It is nothing against you. Please also improve the grammar, diction and spelling of your original post if you want to be taken seriously.
10546  Economy / Speculation / Re: [Weekly Report] Bitcoin price weekly prediction on: August 19, 2016, 12:53:51 PM
My answer is no. Bitcoin will not change drastically in price next week. It will stay the same and it will be stable. But there will be small pumps coming randomly. Those pumps will be mostly bull traps so be careful when you decide to trade them.
10547  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price hovering around 570-580. Is it a good move to buy? on: August 19, 2016, 12:50:26 PM
In my opinion, no. Wait for a better price to buy. Bitcoin's latest rise is over for now so it is time for it to fall again. This all part of the normal cycle so do not worry.
10548  Economy / Speculation / Re: This price (~$575) is normal and good, and here's why... on: August 19, 2016, 12:47:18 PM
OP, that is a good assesment. It is also a reason to think that BTC will stay below $600 until the end of the year or more. The problem now is when will BTC rise again? According to your assesment it was because of the anticipation of the halving that BTC rose to $700+. So maybe the next rise will be after 4 years in anticipation of the next halving?
10549  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 18, 2016, 03:17:11 PM
your prediction is just a random number with no reason to come true and if it comes true and stays below $600 randomely you will come here and gloat about it but if it goes above $600-700 then you will disappear from the face of the forum and never say a word.

No, it is not a random number. It's not like I was blindfolded and played pin the donkey and the lucky number pinned was "$600". This is real, look at the charts, this is not a random guess.

Also it would not help the price to rise if there is more drama coming.

"State-sponsored Attackers May Compromise Bitcoin 0.13.0 Binaries" http://themerkle.com/state-sponsored-attackers-may-compromise-bitcoin-0-13-0-binaries/

"The upcoming Bitcoin 0.13.0 release is triggering a warning on the Bitcoin.org internet site. Since most people download the wallet software from this website, there is a big incentive for anyone who managed to sneak in malicious binary files. While the talk about state-sponsored attackers may be slightly exaggerating, it is not unlikely someone will try to do some damage."

10550  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 0.13.0 Binary Safety Warning on: August 18, 2016, 02:50:34 PM
Potential drama or is this something really serious? "State sponsored attacks" sounds really serious and I wish that someone who knows something posts what's really going on here.
10551  Other / MultiBit / Re: Are MultiBit addresses reusable ? on: August 18, 2016, 02:39:49 PM
You can reuse any address provided to you in the request screen but for privacy reasons we suggest you use a new one for each transaction.

You can see previously used addresses by drilling down into any transaction and viewing the transaction details (double click on the transaction in the Payments screen). The last screen in the wizard is the payment request that has the address in it.

I am recently using Multibit HD. Instead of starting a new thread it might be better to bump this one up since my query is about the same topic.

Anyway, I assume that used addresses cannot be seen in Multibit HD except by viewing the transaction details? So if I want to save my used addresses I would have to do this manually and copy it somewhere else?
10552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NSA Hacked - Bad publicity for Bitcoin on: August 18, 2016, 03:06:23 AM
So yeah , It seems like a group associated with the NSA has been hacked "Equation-group" => http://fossbytes.com/nsa-hacked-by-shadow-brokers-equation-group/

Quote
The hacking group has  leaked some private hacking tools and exploits. The hackers are also asking for 1 million bitcoin (about $568 million) in an auction to release all the files.

Here are my three scenarios :

1. Satoshi Nakamoto is NSA and he is going to pay the 1 million Bitcoin.
2. NSA will buy 1 million Bitcoin and give us a nice increase in the price.
3. NSA won't do shit . (which is the thing likely to happen in this case)

If Satoshi's dormant wallets starts to move funds will that increase the demand for BTC or will that cause a collapse. My feelings are mixed on that one.

I do not think the NSA will do something like pay the hackers. That will only fund their group and they will encourage them to do more hacking. The most likely move for them is to look for the hackers and they should be scared. So the hackers right now has to options, hide and be offline forever or use those tools stolen to do more hacks.
10553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OpenBazaar , a failure ? on: August 18, 2016, 02:55:21 AM
I made a topic similar to this one few months ago, now I once again checked the OpenBazaar stats and It looks like they are the same (If not worst)

I've been checking the stats almost daily but there is absolutely no progress : https://bazaarbay.org/stats/day

The question is : Can we consider OpenBazaar as a failure in the crypto currency world ? and why ?

I have been thinking about this too! Maybe it is because the system is still being developed. You can see that making a user to be online 24/7, 365 days every year for the store itself to be online is not a good implementation for the platform. There should be a solution for this soon.

My other thought was what if they already found a solution for the user not to be online all the time. Will Open Bazaar be a good platform to start a Silk Road type store dealing with drugs and other illegal items? I heard it was started as Dark Market and had that in mind.
10554  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the price: Halving day 2020 on: August 18, 2016, 02:48:21 AM
I predict that on the day of the halving in 2020 the bitcoin price will be $1666.

In all seriousness I think BTC price by the halving on 2020 will be on about $1000. I know some of you are expecting a lot of upside but it will really be disappointing for most of us because bitcoin at $1000 will show signs of being a little low for us compared to our very optimistic expectations. But that is reality and we must accept it fully.
10555  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 18, 2016, 02:39:33 AM
Bitfinex could be the new MtGox. Everyone knows it is a trap putting coins there yet there are still many people using it. Maybe the volume over there is faked. But I do not remember there was mention of MtGox volume as faked. Does anyone know what exactly happened at MtGox? It would be nice to be enlightened about it so we could compare it with the current situation with Bitfinex.
10556  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin down to 500? on: August 18, 2016, 02:34:46 AM
Is the bitcoin price crashing? $500 is a huge drop for bitcoin.

Will the bitcoin price go lower than $500?

I believe it is capable of going lower than $500 if there is another big dump that will be caused by another hacking incident. Most of you will think that lightning will not strike again should always expect the worst when dealing with bitcoins. We have not seen everything yet in the bitcoin scene. But I also think there is strong buy support under $500 and it should also be considered as an opportunity to buy cheap coins. So I do not think it will stay under $500 long. But under $600? It will until the end of the year or more.
10557  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 18, 2016, 02:31:03 AM
Bitfinex won't survive this, not a chance.

Can you please explain more? I would like to pick your brain about it. They have issued tokens, lol, to pacify and appease their customers. Do you think this will last them enough time to raise funds so that Bitfinex can pay them in full? Or do you think Bitfinex has no intention of paying their customers in full?
10558  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 17, 2016, 07:14:47 AM
you said the price will not pass  $600  til the end of the year but you did not say any reason that may convince me. I do not like people how speculate a limit because usually the market proofs they were wrong at the end

It could be a variety of reasons. We do not exactly know what. The same with when the price is rising, all we ask is "Why is it rising?" but we do not really care because it is rising. It is the opposite with the price falling. When it is falling we have to know the "why?"

But for me it has something to do with the Bitfinex hack. It really has again destroyed confidence toward BTC. I do not know how Bitfinex can last and pretend that everything is ok. Another reason could be the Chinese whales who pumped BTC are maybe closing out their positions. There was 2 pumps. The first was October 2015 and the other one is May this year.
10559  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 17, 2016, 07:06:24 AM
The thing about predictions like this is they will make every opportunity to make noise about how right and spot on they are with what they predicted. But if we reach $600 again, they could easily say "I was wrong". $600 is actually not a price too high to reach even before the end of third quarter. Let's just leave these naysayers be and let them enjoy their predictions while they last.

But that is not the point. The point is it has to go down first before it can go up again. Right now not enough buyers want to buy at these prices that's why it is staying under $600. If the price will go below $500 will you buy or not? Of course you will buy because it is cheap and you know that it will not stay that cheap forever. But at the current price it could stay this way until the end of the year. So there is no hurry buying now because by the way things look it can still go back down at $500 or near it.
10560  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 17, 2016, 07:01:28 AM
This is not a brag and it is not a prediction. I am just trying to tell everyone what is happening right now. Bitcoin has to go down a little bit more and be accumulated at a lower price before it can go up again. It is still a seller's market right now so why risk buying now when you can buy at a lower price?

You're saying that it will go down further, that's a prediction.
What you wrote on OP is half bragging.

Why buy now?  Well, I don't know about the others, but a small drop of $50 means little to me because I'm going really, really long.

No I am not bragging. It is only an opinion. So in my opinion it is better to wait and then go buy at a better price. Why? Because of course like everyone I want a bargain for my money. I means I can buy more later than if I buy today. From the look of things a lot of other people are waiting too since the price action of BTC is almost flat.
