10561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exciting Bitcoin Projects! on: August 17, 2016, 06:27:13 AM

It is good that we are seeing new ways of doing things thru bitcoin. But is it just me or what was supposedly the biggest projects in the bitcoin world seldom used when released. Two examples of these are Bitsquare and Open Bazaar. After release I have not heard any news of them anymore. I checked Bitsquare and there is only small volume traded over there. Is this a sign that bitcoin as a currency is irrelevant and it is treated more like a commodity?
10562  Economy / Exchanges / Re: OKcoin - illegal business/money laundering - Judge rules on: August 16, 2016, 04:34:26 AM
This is not surprising. I suggest checking the volume created by LTC. What is the basis of all that volume? LTC is mostly considered "dead" by the community. There is no active development, no projects built on top, no nothing and yet it has maintained a high amount of volume. Some have suggested that it is the coin of choice by the Chinese money launderers.
10563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Takara Bitcoin Game Lets You Collect BTC And Counterparty Tokens on: August 16, 2016, 04:30:48 AM
Well of course someone has to drop for someone else to pick up. Because this is also available for Counterparty tokens, this game has opened up a new market for some tokens built around this game. Like a community of treasure hunting enthusiasts can use it for fun.

This not about getting free bitcoins like most of us are looking for here. It is a fun game created for anyone who wishes to play it.
10564  Economy / Speculation / Re: What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 16, 2016, 04:25:34 AM
This is not a brag and it is not a prediction. I am just trying to tell everyone what is happening right now. Bitcoin has to go down a little bit more and be accumulated at a lower price before it can go up again. It is still a seller's market right now so why risk buying now when you can buy at a lower price?

Also I can be wrong because there could be a pump coming. But with all the variables staying the same we might not see this go up above $600 for a while.

10565  Economy / Speculation / What did I tell you? BTC will stay down under $600 on: August 16, 2016, 04:10:38 AM
I have been saying this many times and falls under deaf ears. BTC will stay under $600 until the end of the year. But right now most of the people here are still in denial. Once they realize that it will really stay under $600 they will start getting angry. So expect many bearish threads and "bitcoin is dead" threads to come. Cheesy

I have not heard of him. But my condolences to him and his family. It is so sad to see someone go at such a young age. RIP.

I just want to share this one here just in case you have not heard of this one before. It is a game like Pokemon Go but it is more like treasure hunting with BTC and Counterparty tokens. This should be fun to play. Get it here https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/takara/id1009304559?mt=8

10568  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Safe wallet for a newbie on: August 16, 2016, 03:54:27 AM
I am reading the forum daily and am registered here a few days ago.
What do you people suggest for a safe wallet for a newbie, I am not that tech guy , just the average joe with computers.
I have read that Blockchain.info is one of the best wallets, but I have also read that there are a lot of other wallets that they call local wallets like Bitcoin core Multibit Electrum and Armory also phone wallets. Which is one you can sleep safe at night ?

For me personally Blockchain is still the best.
If you use 2 step authentication with then, have Antivirus program up to date on your computer and don't share your password you will be safe with them.
Of course, there is no such thing as ''absolute'' security on Internet but if you don't keep to much funds in one wallet youn will be ok.
Other idea is to keep Bitcoin offline.

I do not recommend using a web wallet. A better choice is Multibit or Electrum. They are very easy to use, safe and there is no need to download the whole blockchain. I suggest any newbie should take their time to learn and use these wallets.

Then later they can use web wallets and mobile wallets.

10570  Economy / Economics / Re: Merging of bitcoin and banks on: August 14, 2016, 12:53:05 PM
Many have said that bitcoin will destroy and will bring an end to banking institutions but i read this article and find out that bitcoin will not destroy banks instead it will empower them.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/blockchain-empower-banks/

I will qoute some

"R3 has managed to organize every major western bank together on a project designed to imitate blockchain technology as it exists in Bitcoin. These firms are open-minded as to how this final form will take, even suggesting they could re-invent security altogether in pursuit of new banking systems.

Financial institutions are not going to surrender their industry. And consumers will appreciate easy-to-use more efficient systems of the future in banking."

So is it feasible or not?

Bitcoin was designed so that there would be no need for banks. We ourselves will have absolute control of our money. If you decide to use it or not is up to you. Let us just say that BTC is a safer alternative compared to banks but it is not out there to destroy them.

With R3 saying that they will utilize blockchain technology, surely that will be beneficial to them and their clients. They could even invent new types of products and services. So there's no problem. Actually it is good for society as a whole.
10571  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your predictions for 2016 on: August 14, 2016, 12:44:09 PM
I think the bitcoin's price will increase by the end of this year, may be it will reach 1000$ in this time. And this will be really profitable for the bitcoin's holders.
Well we don't know if it will reach at $1000 because many hack acitivity happens this year that can affect the value of bitcoin..
But it can be possible to happen because we dont know what will happen in the future just lets hope that the price of bitcoin will be increase more. in few months..

I am not sure too how much it will reach, but i believe the Bitcoin price will rise surely in the few next months , and it will reach good price by the end of 2016.

2016 should reach $1,000 after a halving. but hackers bitfinex driving prices down, but the price of bitcoin very quickly recovered to $600. maybe the end of the year, the price range can only touch $700-800.
yeah the bitfinex hack made the price down. Now it has recovered better and the price of bitcoin can be expected to rise to $900 by the year end and will reach $1000 over the next 6 months.

While I'm hoping that it'll reach $1000, I think it's more realistic to think that it'll just hover around $700-$800 at best within 2016. Maybe $1000 is for another year. For now, it remains too optimistic to be a clear goal.

Even $700 - $800 by the end of the year is optimistic. Expect this to go down further to the lower $500's or the high $400's. BTC is weak for the time being and it needs to consolidate at a lower price for now. But I am sure many of you will be happy to get an opportunity to buy cheap coins. Smiley
10572  Economy / Speculation / Re: End of the 2016 - BTC Price Prediction on: August 14, 2016, 12:40:22 PM
i am sure that bitcoin rise up its price to 800 to 900$ at the end of 2016 ,bitcoin is really going to increase its value too much faster than other crypto currency.

It will stay below $600 until the end of the year. BTC needs to consolidate for now and the longer it does the better it will be. I would prefer to see it rise slowly than see it rise fast because of a manipulated pump from the whales. Slow but sure growth is better and safer.
10573  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price going up? on: August 14, 2016, 12:30:02 PM
bitcoin hopefully rise continues. the current price of bitcoin has increased, although slightly. for some traders the current rise is a joy.
they take every dollar that can be obtained.
i agree with you bitcoin going to increase its price to huge ,and bitcoin getting more stronger because a large number of people interested in bitcoin and want to invest their money in bitcoin .

Sadly this will not be happening this year. BTC will stay below $600 until the end of the year. There is no strong buying going on just strong selling that happens at random.
10574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #BitcoinSurvey2016 report published on: August 13, 2016, 07:59:29 AM
How big is the sample size? Maybe the sample is not that big that's why they got 40%. One sign to test if 40% really does gamble is to observe the gambling sites traffic. I think if it is really 40% we would see more traffic than what we have now. Bitcoin is always a hoarders coin. Only a small % of users spend it.
10575  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin @ $592.. we are crashing on: August 13, 2016, 07:48:27 AM
it is not a crash but it is normal because many miners abandon mining bitcoin while they moved to other profitable project so 400 $ by the end of this year is definitely possible price.

Really lol??

Other profitable project and then what? It will just add more troll coins in the making. Bitcoin is only crypto that can last for a long term. Other coins are just for short term profits.  So a serious miner will just put efforts on bitcoin even the rewards are drop.
Yes i agree with you bitcoin is only long lasting project but with halving everyone knows that mining bitcoin is not profitable anymore .

Even with halving and miners profit reduced to half, there is no stoppage of mining. Bitcoins prices are still going up . The people who have setup large infrastructures for mining are not going to give up and it is still profitable to them.
That's all what we are waiting to happen which is the price increase, I think it could happen this year and there is no major crash really as the price is backing up already, it takes a little time before we will sit comfortably to $600+ as the previous price before the fall back.

I am sorry but we have already have seen the major move up happen. It was followed by a fall below $600 because of the Bitfinex hack. Now I do not think that there will be any major moves up or down. We will continue to stay under $600 until the end of this year and some parts of next year.
10576  Economy / Speculation / Re: New ATH by July 2017 on: August 13, 2016, 04:58:25 AM
But what happens if it does not happen? Then we are back here again predicting that it will surpass ATH in 2018. It is better to predict with plausible supporting fundamental theories and some technical analysis.
Pushing the ATH back a bit like what's happening right now isn't a terrible idea, and estimating that the ATH will show up sooner rather than later is somewhat good for the mind, as it gives a sense of hope. While it's quite likely that the ATH will be broken and replaced by 2020 (the next halving), anything sooner than that is gladly accepted as a prediction, although it should be treated with skepticism.

That is true. I expect BTC to stay below $600 for a while longer. Even longer than what everybody else thinks. Most of the speculations here expect another pump before the end of the year but I think it will stay below $600 until the end of the year or more. So expect to see bearish threads coming from anxious people.
10577  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would the bitfinex ''hack'' be the trigger of the next major rally? on: August 13, 2016, 04:44:08 AM
The major sell-off at the beginning of the late 2013 bubble looks similar. Both sell-offs are after a bear market and in a beginnig of a bull market.

What do you think?

Update, my prediction:

It looks similar because in general these patterns occur more or less in different markets. A major rally may or may not happen after the dump but will not be the trigger of the next rally. It triggered the dump that happened before the next rally should be the right statement.

The next rally will not happen until next year. Bitcoin traders and whales have a much harder time manipulating BTC today than compared to 2 years ago.
10578  Economy / Speculation / Re: Testing 600 again on: August 12, 2016, 03:20:26 AM
I do not know what you people are on, it must be denial but this will go back below $600 and stay there. It is possible that it will not go above $600 until next year. The recent rise of bitcoin that started the end of May is really fast. It was pumped by the whales and was dumped leaving us caught up in the mess and hoping it will go up again.

Now that's some bearish shit!

Bearish? Please check and analyze what is going on. Look at the BTC/USD chart it is exactly what is happening. I know all of you do not want to hear things because they are "bearish" but please take time to know the truth. It was testing $600 again only for some dumpers to gain the opportunity to unload at a better price again. It is better to not do anything and wait at the bottom to get in at a good price.

10580  Other / Politics & Society / Re: A slap to the FBI. Online drug sales triple after Silk Road closure on: August 12, 2016, 02:36:22 AM
I don't think it is the FBIs fault by closing down Silk Road. If they had left it open, Silk Road would be three times bigger (or more) by now and drug sales would still have trippled.

The only thing now is that there are numerous places where people go to buy rather than one, which makes it more difficult to keep an eye on.

All business is shifting online. You order your electronics and even groceries online now. Those numbers probably also trippled in the same time. Would anyone really expect the drug trade not to follow a similar trend? In a few years every post office might have drug dogs to pick the packets out..

That is not the point. The point is in over 50 years of their "war on drugs" the illegal drugs industry keeps getting bigger and bigger. The cartels are getting richer and are increasing in political influence. What they are doing is not effective and they are only wasting tax payer's money. What good did getting Ulbricht in prison bring? Nothing.
