1061  Economy / Speculation / Re: GBP/USD 1.23 on: October 12, 2016, 04:49:04 PM
Honestly GBP is very risky right now.
No one know what is going to happen with rules and regulations after Brexit.
The value might jump back up or it might continue to drop.
Hopefully there is someone here who can offer some good Forex advice.
1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Big LTC crash soon on: October 12, 2016, 03:19:23 PM
Still surprised nothing is going on with this coin.
Announcements of new software wallets, Trezor may come out with a hardware wallet soon,
and still no one wants Litecoin...
Price has even gone down a bit.  Undecided
1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 12, 2016, 03:14:37 PM
It would be a little easier to take what the shitcoin article says about Monero at full faith
if he didn't follow it up with an endorsement of Counterparty.
It sounds like you have an agenda when you do such a big promotion of one coin over another.
(Obviously the article is a lot of personal views but still.)
1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] -NEW BURST OP- MINE ANY FREE SPACE-(HDD MINING)- ATs, AE, P2P MARKET+MORE! on: October 10, 2016, 06:14:52 PM
Very interesting idea 'Proof of Capacity'
I'll be reading through the posts, but maybe someone can answer one question-
does having more free hard drive space give you an advantage in your ability to mine faster/ more coins?
1065  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Zcash!? on: October 10, 2016, 05:47:00 PM
Inb4 Zionist illuminati conspiracy theory posts flood the topic
1066  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Real or BS? THMINERS.COM realeases new 60TH Bitcoin and 1200MH Litecoin miner. on: October 10, 2016, 05:03:29 PM
Idk how anyone could take Cointelegraph seriously after the "Monero Loses Darknet Market in Apparent Exit Scam" article
More than half of the stuff in that article was totally false, clearly FUD propaganda.
Joel Valenzuela and Cointelegraph are obviously using their platform to push their agenda and manipulate the markets towards coins they are invested in or partnered with.
1067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Rare Pepe Gets Blockchained, Made Into Tradable Counterparty Tokens on: October 10, 2016, 04:53:39 PM
Its definitely an interesting Proof Of Concept.

http://shitco.in/2016/10/09/rare-pepe-fomo-and-the-alt-pump-dump-cycle/
I've been a bit interested in Counterparty and this article makes some good points,
but its hard to know what to believe when someone tells you
"this one coin (XMR) is shit, let me tell you why this other coin (XCP) is way more amazing!"
That makes me almost certain that someone is pushing an agenda.
1068  Economy / Economics / Re: How good are you at managing your money on: October 10, 2016, 12:53:20 PM
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
  And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
  If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son.

1069  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] The Epic 420 Alliance Joint Force - United we stand! on: October 10, 2016, 12:36:57 PM
I made a little bit of money on POT coin but damn I guess I should have held some.
I actually bought a bunch at 1420 satoshi and sold for a profit later but I never thought the price would go this HIGH!
Get it? Its a weed joke!
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can mining rigs be monetized by renting them as render farms? on: October 10, 2016, 12:27:14 PM
Its not a bad idea, but you would need to be very professional and be able to provide customers some sort of guarantee their work would remain confidential/ untouched.
Since I'm assuming you are talking about rendering image/ video files etc,
people may be hesitant to hand over files that contain intellectual property that they have worked on to a source they are un-familiar with.

If you could prove you are trustworthy there may be a need for this type of service,
its definitely an interesting idea.
1071  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Community Call for Claymore Zcash GPU Miner Development on: October 10, 2016, 12:21:40 PM
I would definitely mine a few coins.
Zcash is interesting.
It has a lot of hype right now and its probably a good idea to get at least a few coins early.
1072  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: COD Infinite Warfare's size is 130GB, and people cry about 85GB of blockchain? on: October 10, 2016, 12:16:45 PM
A big blockchain causes issues-
it makes it harder to set up new nodes because of the long download time
it makes it harder for any program/ app that wants to download the full blockchain
more network traffic is required for each full node

Storage space (hard drives etc) is cheap
But having to send this information over the internet again and again requires a lot bandwidth
We need more full nodes to maintain additional customers and a huge blockchain makes it hard to set up new servers
1073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase has partnered with Paypal - Officially! on: October 10, 2016, 01:39:07 AM
If you aren't willing to use PayPal, what other methods are there to get your money from Coinbase?
It seems like a very easy platform to buy and sell coins,
but is there any way to actually get the money from your Coinbase account into a bank or fiat currency?
1074  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: October 10, 2016, 01:35:13 AM
Every bot was coin fu fighting

One got freaked out and was bouncing up and down like a yoyo. Lol

Yeah I was watching some coins on Poloniex today and the buy/ sell orders were going crazy.
Hundreds of bitcoins worth of orders opening and closing every second or two lol.
1075  Economy / Trading Discussion / Keeping track of your investments- spreadsheets, programs, what do you use? on: October 09, 2016, 04:10:43 PM
Hoping I can get some suggestions as to what people are using to keep track of their investments when buying Bitcoin, Altcoins, etc.
Are you putting things in an Excel spreadsheet/ Google document?
Are there programs that you are using to keep track of what you invested?
Do you remember everything in your head?
I know some exchanges have a buy history but some do not or don't have a very easy to use interface.

I only trade with a small amount of Bitcoin and several Alt-coins, but I need to stay organized and keep track of my investments.
1076  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you tell in public that you use bitcoin? on: October 09, 2016, 03:12:08 PM
I work with computers, so most people at work at least know what Bitcoin is.
I've been talking with some people recently about Blockchain technology,
because I believe it will be very big in the future.
If you can invest in the right startup, you stand to make a lot of money. One of these blockchain startups is going to be the next Microsoft/ Google.
(Or at least get bought by one of those companies lol.)
1077  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: October 09, 2016, 02:38:00 PM
Ripple is definitely an interesting coin.
Its the total opposite of most coins, by the fact they are working with banks, have a centralized database they have some control over, etc.
This business model is either going to fizzle out, or explode and the price of coins will skyrocket.
I'm going to do a small investment and see what happens, I guess.
1078  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do exchanges manipulate order books, add fake transactions? on: October 09, 2016, 01:40:17 PM
I seem to remember someone ex OKcoin saying the exchange had its employees trading away with accounts provided for them. No idea whether that's just bitter lies of course.

There were multiple sources from OKcoin employees saying they were told to move coins around just to make the volumes look higher.
Probably when the site first started to generate traffic and make it look more popular and encourage more people to trade there.

Its obvious if you look at any exchange and pick a coin with high volume, there are tons of bots doing trading.
Who is running these bots and for what reason is hard to say.
1079  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will price be at around $700 by end of october on: October 09, 2016, 01:32:42 PM
A lot of alt-coins are having issues and people are pulling their investments out.
People will probably also start spending a bit more towards Christmas and the demand will rise a bit.
I think $650 near the end of the year is a pretty safe bet.
1080  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FACT CHECK: Bitcoin Blockchain will be 700GB in 4 Years on: October 09, 2016, 01:29:49 PM
I've done a bit of reading on segwit and how it would reduce transaction times, but I never read anything about it reducing the total size of the blockchain.
If someone could give a quick explanation on how this works it would be greatly appreciated.
