Law Enforcement Takes Down the Biggest Darknet Market on the Deep Web

The Biggest Darknet Market on the Deep Web Has Been Shut Down By International Authorities

On July 11 Bitcoin.com reported on the Alphabay darknet marketplace going offline for over a week. In that report, we detailed a theory of a global “deep web” law enforcement task force that seized computers in Quebec and made a connected arrest in Thailand. On July 13 according to the Wall Street Journal and sources familiar with the international authorities — Alphabay has been shut down.

Founded in 2014 the marketplace Alphabay was a successor of the Silk Road and grew to be even bigger by 2017. Alphabay, like many darknet markets, was known for selling illicit narcotics and fraudulent credit cards. Wall Street Journal reporter Robert McMillan details the investigation was conducted by law enforcement agencies from a few countries including Thailand, the U.S., and Canada.

11122  Economy / Speculation / Re: I will not Die Untill Bitcoin will reach at Least 50K on: July 14, 2017, 09:01:03 AM
Something is not right with the mindset of OP beacuse such wiered statement come then only . It's good that you should be assertive but with the research done than its helps you to even know your goal easily . 50k per Btc is something unimaginable at this time and does not seem to even cross 20k in coming time .

I guess the OP is still very positive about bitcoin and he see down the road that bitcoin can reach $50K in the future. But realistically, its really hard to imagine bitcoin reach this price. I don't know what will be the factors that will affect market, but I doubt it can be touch. I think we need baby steps and target first $3000 then $10000 before saying that $50K is attainable. But hey, everything is possible and we might see this in 10 to 20 years.  Grin
11123  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-13] You can't buy much online with bitcoin, says report on: July 14, 2017, 08:11:05 AM
I am not too worried with this news as i am not into bitcoin to purchase things and i do consider it as an asset class but if i am having the capability to purchase things with it ,then it is great,i am happy about it,the price of one bitcoin is worth more than an ounce of gold does not mean that it can be considered only as an asset because we can divide one bitcoin into units,so it is not a big issue. Wink

I agree. Currently, bitcoin is not meant to do micro transaction because of couple of reasons. Namely high transaction fee and slow confirmation time and of course the volatility of price. That's why bitcoin is now used as investment instrument by most people. Bitcoin has still a long future ahead and maybe one day we gonna see that it will be universally accepted as payment method.
11124  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Internet Marketing on: July 14, 2017, 06:27:56 AM
marketing if unique thing and awesome
What do you mean by unique and awesome? Marketing is needed for almost all products or services that we are offering. And in marketing there is something unique that you will do. In internet dont try to market with pop up ads because its annoying.
Hahaha. That's true, pop up ads are very annoying, there are a lot of pop up ads that are very annoying and I told to myself that I don't want to visit that site!!! Because it'a very disturbing. Maybe you can make your own sute and then share your link so you can make your marketing.

We all hate popups and they are really annoying. And I really hate if you visit sites that has popup and yes I wouldn't visit it again as well. I don't used popups to advertise or promote projects. I would rather used social media to promote it. Or just posting on forums or blogs. A lot of ways to really market your project and popup is not the best one for me.
11125  Economy / Speculation / Re: Still Believing That Bitcoin Can Rise High? on: July 14, 2017, 05:55:45 AM
I don't have much knowledge about bitcoin and from the person who introduced me to bitcoin I came to know that bitcoin has overcome several hurdles in this time period from the day it existed. So never panic and just trust in it and the increase in price happens without doubt.

You are right. Bitcoin has proven time and again that it has the ability to recover from any crisis. If you are not here during the post March ETF decision, bitcoin price fall below $1000 and a lot of people has lost faith in bitcoin and sold their coin. But when April comes in, the price quickly recovered and even reached ATH at $3000. So without a doubt bitcoin can and will overcome this obstacles.
11126  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODL on: July 13, 2017, 01:40:51 AM
I had sold some of my bitcoins earlier but I have still some in my cold storage.

I will let those remaining bitcoins I've to be hold for better and will just hold it further more.

I'll wait until the price gets at $5,000 or $10,000 before selling it.

I'll not be touching my cold storage until $100k
Hodl to the brink of death...

You sure about that $100k? You will be having a long journey until waiting for that time.

With the current price I had still enough for profit taking already and I won't be feeling sorry on it.

Will wait for sometime after these drama's are already done.

We see a lot of market speculators and other people predicting the price to reach $100K in the future. Well nothing is impossible to bitcoin, it has already proven that it can increase the price dramatically. But with $100K I don't know how long will it take the touch that price. It will probably took us another 5-10 years to get that price. So its better to really hold bitcoin for long term.
11127  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Trading VS Bitcoin! on: July 12, 2017, 11:01:37 PM
Both are profitible ,you choose one that fits you the best Cheesy
Yep both are legit in generating money and its up to you on how you are going to manage investments. At first I'm not that good in trading I guess up until today but I learned a lot from the  market and thats why trading is one of the most popular way to make money.
Well its really depends on how you take it seriously both really profitable if you know how to play and how you maximize your capabilities. Trading really works but also holding bitcoin for some time will give you good earnings, its about chooses and good understanding.

Trading is always working but for a beginner he needs to learn it first on how to do it but for those experts or has enough background on it already, they can easily make money from it. Holding is always being done by all of bitcoin holders and there's nothing new about it, everyone has their own wallet to hold bitcoin.

Holding is good but the best way to grow your bitcoins is by investing in trading as it will help you in growing your bitcoins in long term and with holding you will be never increase the amount of bitcoins so to earn good profits you should start investing money in trading.

But others want to be on the safe side and just put investment in bitcoin and just watch how it grow. In trading there are risk than others don't want to put themselves. You will see a lot of thread started by newbies asking about what's they gonna do because they lost that much in trading already.
11128  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can i get my bitcoin back? on: July 12, 2017, 10:31:56 PM
He lost 0.58 so nothing major, he can still see the balance on the blockchain so he no doubt he'll be watching that balance grow in the future, he remembers it was worth around $110 at the time.

.58BTC? its worth 10x by now if his initial investment is $110. And just like what others have said, you need your private keys to retrieved your friends bitcoin. I also have lost bitcoins in the past, and the only thing that cheers me up is that I can earn that bitcoin back. It will took me months though to be able to at least break even with my investment.
11129  Economy / Economics / Re: Rothschild: Get Ready For One World Currency By 2018 on: July 12, 2017, 09:29:04 PM
If the United States has a "Shadow Government" like so many speculate, it would be the Rothschilds.

I'm saving this thread because this is all very fascinating to me, I am going to see if there are any connections between this and Bitcoin.

Yes, the article look very fascinating indeed. And the author has predicted that by 2018 we would have one currency. If you look at bitcoin right now, somewhat all of us wants it to be globally mass adopted, meaning it could be used by people regardless of what country they are. So bitcoin is laying out how we can have "one world currency".
11130  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-12] After Black Tuesday, Bitcoin Price, Altcoins Showing Signs Of Recov on: July 12, 2017, 09:07:21 PM
Maybe they want to exaggerate everything that crypto related specially all about bitcoin. The signs of recovery is nothing new to us, but for those who are thinking of investing, then this article would shift some of them into a positive mode. We may never no, maybe this news will encourage them in a way to invest. I just hope so.
11131  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cryptocurrency getting Crashed on: July 12, 2017, 08:47:14 PM
Why Cryptocurrency getting crashed in last somedays?

Very simply, bitcoin crashed because people no longer believe in it, they are worried about its future when the hardfork happens. If people still believe in it, the value of bitcoin will never decrease.
i think people still believe on bitcoin and that is the reason that the price of bitcoin is not getting decreasing and is still trading so much stable i am sure that it will continue increasing and we will see no bad effect of 1st August on the price of bitcoin.

But currently the price is on the green. does it mean that people faith in bitcoin has comeback just like that? I agree the uncertainty of the event in Aug 1 is still unknown. But if you have fully trusted it, you will understand that their will be temporary setbacks along the way. We need optimism and be positive specially in this moment and not panic and sell your bitcoin.
11132  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin heading to $4,000 on: July 11, 2017, 11:28:44 PM
I'm sure the $ 4000 price will soon be reached in this year, even though the current price drop but the price will rise again. So do not rush to sell because a week again the price will go rise.
Though down I'm sure it will not be lower than $2000 and the decline is now stuck at $2300 and I'm sure the price will go up again, but for $4000 I'm not sure it will happen this month, maybe it will happen after the implementation of segwit2x. No one knows just a prediction.

BIPxxx, segwitxx...all this drama will rest unsolved for a long time imo meanwhile their indirect impact on the bitcoin price is very probable. Hope it goes up..

True. There is a probable that bitcoin goes down after the Segwit2x activation. It's still far from the said date but look at how the investors react, the price is going down to $2300 more else if we are getting near the date. However, we all know that once it goes down, there's no way to go but up so I'm expecting a recovery after the price dip in Aug 1, if ever there is a dip.
11133  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin go under 2000 dollars until august 1? on: July 11, 2017, 10:12:10 PM
We don't know what's really gonna happen on Aug 1. In my opinion, there will be a slight dip but I'm not sure if it will go down to sub $2000. Currently the price is $2300 and we are still farther from the said that. The price dip has started this Monday, So from $2600 to $2300 is a dip of $300. We need to be vigilant and observed the market trend before making our move closer to Aug 1 date.
11134  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-10] Will Bitcoin Tear Itself Apart? on: July 11, 2017, 09:51:30 PM
It’s time for bitcoin traders to batten down the hatches.

The notoriously volatile cryptocurrency, whose 150 percent surge this year has captivated everyone from Wall Street bankers to Chinese grandmothers, could be headed for one of its most turbulent stretches yet.

Blame the bitcoin civil war. After two years of largely behind-the-scenes bickering, rival factions of computer whizzes who play key roles in bitcoin’s upkeep are poised to adopt two competing software updates at the end of the month. That has raised the possibility that bitcoin will split in two, an unprecedented event that would send shockwaves through the $41 billion market.

While both sides have big incentives to reach a consensus, bitcoin’s lack of a central authority has made compromise difficult. Even professional traders who’ve followed the dispute’s twists and turns aren’t sure how it will all pan out. Their advice: brace for volatility and be ready to act fast once a clear outcome emerges.

QuickTake All About Bitcoin

“It’s a high-stakes game of chicken,” said Arthur Hayes, a former market maker at Citigroup Inc. who now runs BitMEX, a bitcoin derivatives venue in Hong Kong. “If you’re a trader, there’s a lot of uncertainty as to what happens. Once there’s a definitive signal about what will be done, the price could move very quickly.”

(Detailed summary of key dates and potential outcomes at bottom.)

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-07-10/bitcoin-risks-splintering-as-civil-war-enters-critical-month

Nothing really in this article. Everything has been discusses here in our forum. Currently there are a lot of uncertainty surrounding this date and the only strategy left is to really hold if there is a hard fork splitting bitcoin. So better hold and secure your bitcoin and have your private keys. Don't let exchanges hold your bitcoin because you don't have control over it.
11135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Switching to Etherum on: July 11, 2017, 07:10:30 PM
Hi guys!
It has been a few crazy months for bitcoin and its price. Did that affected your gambling activities? Are you considering switching to for example Etherum?
What do you think is the greatest advantage and disadvantage of bitcoin gambling?
Yours OshiHugo, oshi.io casino CM

Why should I in the first place? Bitcoin or any other cryptp is still 1:1 when I used it on gambling so no difference at all as price doesn't matter to me in terms of my gambling activities.  I don't mind using either bitcoin or ethereum when doing gambling.

Switching might not be the right term but using other crypto alongside with bitcoin (only concerned I saw is the transaction time).
I prefer to use dogecoin however .
First of all dogecoin or any other altcoin has far lower fee than bitcoin and secondly it has faster confirmation compared to bitcoin.
It is the reaso why we have to switch to other altcoin but not to ethereum only i guess right?

This. I would rather use dogecoin than Ethereum because it has a faster confirmation time and lower fee. It just I'm having a hard time converting from dogecoin to bitcoin though. That's why sometimes I would rather play with bitcoin but as usual, the only reason not to is the high tx fee. But yes, dogecoin is really a good alternatives for me.
11136  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-07-08] Bitcoin Price Fall Is Not Real - Marc Kenigsberg on: July 11, 2017, 06:50:56 PM
A very small number of investors left the crypto currency. Mostly afraid August 1 beginners. But I am sure that after this date people's interest in crypto currency will greatly increase. And I still hope for a price increase. So I keep my coins

In some cases people are afraid of what might happen, but the main point is that the more experienced/wealthy investors are just waiting to act depending on the scenario. Don't forget that if the price does indeed happen to fall down significantly, it will be a great moment for plenty of investors and other people to enter the market. People are waiting for the right opportunity, and rightfully so. But on the other hand, the situation might not be negative at all, where the activation of Segwit gets pushed through effortlessly with no split as result. People here like to hype things up, but this has gotten out of hand. 1st of August is NO doomsday. At worst it might result in a short term bear market, but hey, we have been through so much drama already, that we'll swallow all this negativity without any problems. No pain no gain.

Agreed mate. This is a perfect opportunity to enter the market and grab bitcoin will the price is low. Maybe some investors opt out to exit by now because of the uncertainty about Aug 1. But when everything cools down and the price is going strong, I'm sure they would came back for more. I guess they don't want to pour cash, they are investors and of course they will only go if the market looks positive.
11137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ether still struggling? on: July 11, 2017, 05:22:55 PM
Food for thought.

This chart was drawn by an economics professor named Jean-Paul Rodrigue & is widely used in finance/economics to depict stages of a bubble.

This is a six month chart of ethereum.

They look very similar to me. Although I could be wrong on that.

I've been saying ether is a bubble for weeks now & can't claim to be unbiased.

Very nicea analysis. Yes, I also been saying that Ethereum is a bubble and now it has already burst that a lot has been trapped already. I don't know if the Vitalik news really has a negative impact on Ethereum. This is already confirmed as fake news. Maybe it just follow bitcoin path as other have suggested, or their are really good reasons for the price to really dip.
11138  Economy / Speculation / Re: HODL on: July 11, 2017, 05:04:14 PM
Bitcoin gets dumped - HODLERS NOT AFFECTED

 Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

That's right, we are bitcoin lovers, so we should not feel worried about what's going to happen in the future. We should keep bitcoin even if its value declines, because it can continue to grow in the future.

Unlike you, I'm not here and giving predictions, it is useless. I only perform by action. Instead of here and looking for ways to ask others, I'm buying a bit more bitcoin, I believe I can get more profit from it in the future.

In this trying times, traders took advantage of it. They see it as a perfect opportunity to get bitcoin because the price is currently down. And I don't feel worried at all because of the price crash. I will just hold and not to listen to people telling to sell on our bitcoin. I have hold on it for a time being and this dip won't make me doubt that the price can still recover in the next coming days.

ConsenSys, Nation of Mauritius in Talks to Create 'Ethereum Island'

Ethereum startup ConsenSys is actively exploring a partnership with the African nation of Mauritius that could create a so-called "Ethereum Island," a hub for blockchain technology innovators that would seek to branch out into Africa, Asia and beyond.

Joseph Lubin, founder, and a team of other top executives from ConsenSys – the New York-based decentralized application builder – toured the island July 5–7 to meet with the nation's Board of Investment, the Bank of Mauritius and other private and public sector authorities.

Mauritius, located 700 miles east of Madagascar, has established itself as an offshore financial center and is actively looking to do same with regard to blockchain and related technologies. Late last year, it began the process of establishing a regulatory sandbox license in an effort to attract blockchain innovators.

11140  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: @Philippines An addicted gambler gone wild on: July 10, 2017, 07:30:36 PM
This is no joke that 42 year old has a bank debt worth 4 million and being addicted to gambling is wrong but getting addicted to gambling with someone else funds is surely not acceptable. I don't really know how will the vank recover their funds but all gamblers please gamble with your own funds not with a loan

This is absolutely no joke. And yes his debt with the banks may have also contributed to him mentally that's why he do this crazy things. As far as the bank is concern, this is considered lost already. For all we know more people has bigger loans than that and the banks will just simple ignored them. Because they can easily recovered it somewhere. His gambling is really uncontrollable, and I hope everyone should take this as lessons learn and not go to situation of this person.
