Surprised noone else has stepped up saying they have one of these bad boys - whether for sale or not. Makes me think more rare than I first thought, or in the hands of people who may not 'really' know what they have, and who arent active 'coiners'. The distribution channels for these were not the normal for cas coins - generally meet in person, hand to hand exchange, potentially people from mainstream media - whether financial, technology, or just general news. I would love a link to any news articles / paper based media where these coins were pictured as part of the story, would add nice provenance to the coin. If anyone has one, I would appreciate it.
If they were mostly given away to media, I am sure they probably opened them up to see how they worked before throwing them away. You're probably right or they're sitting at the back of a drawer or in a box in the attic and forgotten about. It wouldn't surprise me if there were very few in hand with someone that frequents here or has any interest in crypto. I think you've got yourself a little gem there monkeynuts  . |

The vat cost is going to suck! As far as I'm aware VAT is only applicable if he's buying from a business, shouldn't have VAT if its a private seller. Could be wrong though I'm not sure about this to be honest. Unfortunately for us all in the EU, you are wrong. Whatever you buy that is valued over 25€/25$ outside EU will be charged VAT + carrier fees for doing the paperwork when it arrives in EU. VAT applies on the value of the item and on the value of the shipping, and of course on the fees charged by carrier company (DHL/FedEx,UPS...). Only if you use Airmail, you can sometimes go through without paying VAT (usually works quite well on smaller packages). I even had to pay VAT and fees on some of my own breakout boards sent back by Holybitcoin for RMA. Simple example, you buy an item that is just 25€, with 15€ shipping on top, you will end up paying an extra 23€ 8€ VAT on item + shipping, 15€ fees to the carrier company (average value for FedEx/DHL) And the worst is that if you buy something with free shipping, the carrier company will still make you pay VAT on an arbitrary shipping value they will add over the item value. So something that is 25€ with free shipping can sometimes translate into an extra 23€ VAT + fees too. Ok I didn't know that, thanks very much for taking the time to explain it to me . |

Coins like that are sort of tough to price market wise. I would pay a few BTC for one, but not sure how high I would go. You're right, coins like that are very tough to put a price on. Honestly it's what the individual is willing to sell it for. There's no multiplier or previous sale to really go off of. What I would be willing to pay is slightly higher than a few BTC depending on condition. They're unique and a good addition to any collection in my opinion. I agree they are tough to price. Does anyone know how many there are? I suppose unless one was put up for auction or for sale we'll never really know. I would go along with previous suggestions of a few BTC but again its what someones prepared to sell or buy for really. I really doubt that Monkey would sell a coin like that off, I know I would keep that. Finding such a coin will be pretty hard to do as the people that have them are probably serious collectors. I wouldn't sell it either unless I really needed the money and / or the offer was too good to refuse. |

I think it will have to sync first. No, synced or not does not change anything if OP has no password. I don't have a passphrase? Are there any other ways to recover the coins?
So its not your wallet? No, you cant recover anything if you dont have the password. Ah ok I did wonder why OP created a brand new account just to ask this question . |

I am pretty sure this is a Scam - I asked him to invoice me and send his address etc to send the shipping labels. He simply sent his Paypal address and that is it. So I sent a 50 cent payment to him and googled the name on the account- funny thing is no one existed anywhere with his name.
Hmm. If it was a scam why such high prices? Because cheap prices make it look even more like a scam. |
