Not sure if this is relevant, but the My transactions window ends up with duplicate transactions listed some old transactions from last week are duplicated. I was having a lot of problems sending, i think due to system clock and 15 seconds issue.
December 30, 2013 5:24:37 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 2 1 - December 30, 2013 7:25:03 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 11 1 - December 30, 2013 7:32:50 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 10'000 10 - December 30, 2013 7:39:10 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 90'000 90 -
Hmm... other than the duplicates in My Transactions, it seems that it is still moving forward:
36888 4747512364439223888 January 9, 2014 3:37:14 PM GMT+02:00 1 4 + 1 128 B 2 1819073736885755019 233 %
This seems to be an issue with NRS display? Just a bit worrisome about negative recent blocks, so many orphans and unconfirmed. Is this normal?
I think it's just the display who is wrong. But it's still function properly. Happened to me. If you want the correct display, just refresh the page Looking closer, the timestamps on the actual transactions are different and are all after the duplicates. December 30, 2013 7:50:26 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 90'000 90 10+ December 30, 2013 7:41:53 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 10'000 10 10+ December 30, 2013 7:41:53 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 11 1 10+ December 30, 2013 5:26:31 AM GMT+02:00 2269220637361284198 2 1 10 Wait. Definitely something strange, the transaction IDs are the same! 90000: 2908061711788780811 vs 2908061711788780811 10000: 11922435045177123841 vs 11922435045177123841 11: 8324684714258161869 vs 8324684714258161869 2: 11874188389536146018 vs 11874188389536146018 So definitely a bug of some sort. The same transaction ids are duplicated in the display. They are listed at the top of My transactions, with 0 confirmations but having identical transaction ids as the real transactions. To confuse things even more, the timestamps are different, each actual transaction is in the future relative to the unconfirmed ones. additonally, I also remember sending a lot more smaller test transactions and they just disappeared without warning, probably due to the system clock being wrong. All during this timeframe. We need a warning when that happens The client could just not display transactions without confirmations, or only display one with unique transaction ID, but I think this indicates some sort of lower level confusion that needs to be investigated. James I think client and/or java process lost blockchain somehow and this is not the refresh browser problem. The same problem I mentioned in my previous posts. I have the same problem, refresh of browser didn't help, needed to restrt everything. After restart everything works, but it shouldn't be the way.

What is the longest anybody has been able to run NXT server, before having to restart it?
James
Max 10 hours. Never generated a block, allways error.

1. Shutdown NXT 2. Install version 0.5.1 3. Delete all .nxt and .nxt.bak files in NXT root directory 4. At that same location create a new file blockchain.nrs 5. Start NXT and wait for a while until blockchain downloads, like 15 minutes
Wait a second... you guys still see blockchain.nrs in that folder? I read somewhere in the past, what You should not worry about blockchain.nrs. Somebody can confirm am I right? After checking, running, restarting everything so often there came one thing in my mind: could it be connected with the operating system, in which java and client runs? Could everybody, posting problems with some crashes and need of restarting, also post operating system, client version? I presume most problems happens in Windows

Today I needed to restart client and java process 4 times. F5 doesn't help. client is 0.5.0. In command prompt windows sometimes are errors, sometimes not. After last crash and after F5, client gives "java.lang.NullPointerException" error after entering password. Something weird. Checked task manager, java uses 500 MB of memory after last time client crashed. No errors in command prompt window.

Hi, today some strange things had happened. I was writing earlier, that I had no luck two times to forge the block and after this recent blocks goes minus with error in command prompt window. Today that happened two times, but without any error in command window and I had to restart everything. What it could be?

I have "discovered" a serious flaw in NXT. The IMF exists to stop the opposite attack on fiats, eg. massive short selling. CfB says this attack is well known, but I didn't know about it and so maybe you don't know about it either. I was told to post it publicly, so here it is:
**** I have come up with non-standard attack, call it financial attack.
Short term, this "attack" would be considered as fantastic by most NXT'ers and it consists of simply buying up all the NXT. Crazy, expensive?
Consider you are large govt with fiat of trillions of dollars, billion dollars is lunch money. They can easily win the "war on NXT". What happens if large scale accumulation of NXT occurs with $10 billion budget. How much of NXT will be left?
All accumulated NXT can be destroyed by sending to genesis acct permanently crippling NXT market. Or it can be converted to many darkNXT accts so nobody would even realize it is happening. I am assuming if we started seeing a lot of NXT being sent to genesis acct, we would notice, but so far no darkNXT detection is implemented. Without realizing, 90%+ of NXT could be destroyed with $10 billion.
Actually at $10 NXT, who wouldn't sell their NXT, so how much NXT will survive a financial attackers $10/NXT bid, especially if it was done cleverly to avoid detection? 1% left? Maybe even less. With .01 precision, smallest increment will be 10 cents even without any more price increase. NXT would be useless for microtransactions, until support is added for microNXT.
James
P.S. Solution is to not destroy NXT when sent to genesis acct, just have it automatically put into community fund. Also, PREVENT darkNXT at the protocol level. I guess evil financial attacker could simply destroy their key though so even with darkNXT fixed, there is no solution to this attack.
+1 This question was turning in my mind also.

Bad luck, two times had a chance and both time didn't succeed. This is not bad luck, this is a my habitude But question remains: if I don't need to restart java console, do I need only reload client side in browser? Because after this accident, recent blocks became with minus sign ant still minus quantity increases, looks like client lost the chain. If the recent blocks became negative, it is a bug then. We haven't seen this bug recently and I thought it's gone, but apparently not. Next time this happens please report any errors from the console. If reloading the page and restarting the browser isn't enough, then you also have to restart the java process indeed. Jean-Luc, thank You for response. What do I need to change in web.xml, in order to have some log file, which will keep information of what is going with console process and saved on disk? I saw somewhere in this thread, but it was long time ago. Or it will be enough to you to have the snapshot of the running console window information inside?

Had a problem: I had two chances of forging the block, but both time it was not forged, recent blocks became with "-" sign and get the error in java console. Had to lock account and restart the process.
What error did you get? If other than the normal "Generated an incorrect block..." error, please post the full error message here. Error was like "Generated an incorrcst block...". Just to know about my luck or there is something I need to fix. Then it's just bad luck, but that doesn't require a restart. Bad luck, two times had a chance and both time didn't succeed. Hi, I'm new here.
Had a problem: I had two chances of forging the block, but both time it was not forged, recent blocks became with "-" sign and get the error in java console. Had to lock account and restart the process. What does it mean: I'm not so lucky or there is another problem? I use 0.5.0 client in windows.
Thank's for answer

Hi guys, i found very interesting info Agrarian Justice From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Thomas Paine, 1792. Agrarian Justice is the title of a pamphlet written by Thomas Paine, published in 1797, which advocated the use of an estate tax and a tax on land values to fund a universal old-age and disability pension, as well as a fixed sum to be paid to all citizens on reaching maturity. It was written in the winter of 1795–96, but remained unpublished for a year, Paine being undecided whether or not it would be best to wait until the end of the ongoing war with France before publishing. However, having read a sermon by Richard Watson, the Bishop of Llandaff, which discussed the "Wisdom ... of God, in having made both Rich and Poor", he felt the need to publish, under the argument that "rich" and "poor" were arbitrary divisions, not divinely created ones.[1] Contents [hide] 1 Proposed system 2 Philosophical background 3 See also 4 Notes 5 References 6 External links Proposed system[edit] In response to the private sale of royal (or common) lands, Paine proposed a detailed plan to tax property owners to pay for the needs of the poor, which could be considered as the precursor of the modern idea of citizen's income or basic income. The money would be raised by taxing all direct inheritances at 10%, and "indirect" inheritances – those not going to close relations – at a somewhat higher rate; this would, he estimated, raise around £5,700,000 per year in England.[2] Around two-thirds of the fund would be spent on pension payments of £10 per year to every person over the age of fifty, which Paine had taken as his average adult life expectancy, with most of the remainder allocated to making fixed payments of £15 to every man and woman on reaching the age of twenty-one, legal majority. The small remainder would then be able to be used for paying pensions to "the lame and blind".[3] For context, the average weekly wage of an agricultural labourer was around 9 shillings, which would mean an annual income of about £23 for an able-bodied man working throughout the year.[4] Additionally, "a one-time stipend of 15 pounds sterling would be paid to each citizen upon attaining age 21, to give them a start in life."[5] Philosophical background[edit] The work is based on the contention that in the state of nature, "the earth, in its natural uncultivated state... was the common property of the human race"; the concept of private ownership arose as a necessary result of the development of agriculture, since it was impossible to distinguish the possession of improvements to the land from the possession of the land itself. Thus Paine views private property as necessary, but that the basic needs of all humanity must be provided for by those with property, who have originally taken it from the general public. This in some sense is their "payment" to non-property holders for the right to hold private property.
