11501  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Reference] Lending board spammers and scammers. on: April 27, 2021, 12:08:14 PM
a newbie who is asking for 80% collateral to fund loans.
80% of the collateral will be granted to you.
It looks like he's asking 125% collateral, not 80%. If you send him 0.1, he (may or may not) send you 0.08.
11502  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ViaBTC accelerator minimum fee on: April 27, 2021, 07:21:50 AM
Confirmed. My native Segwit transaction needed about 16 sat/vbyte to be accepted.
11503  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Mobile Electrum Wallet don't have fee adjustment option on: April 26, 2021, 01:38:11 PM
My computer has no anti virus so I'm worried that my computer has a malware to hack my wallet.
I don't have Electrum on mobile, so I can't help you there, but on your desktop you could consider burning a Linux LIVE DVD that has Electrum preinstalled and runs only from RAM.
It's not very convenient if you use it often though.
11504  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Opinions on Phoenix Wallet? on: April 26, 2021, 08:09:36 AM
I assume they are taking the fee out of your channel balance, so it will be beneficial for you to have the fee they pay on the funding transaction be lower.
The fee is 0.1%, with a 1000 sat minimum. I paid 1000 sat, ACINQ paid almost double that amount to open the channel.

Quote
I think in the future, it would be more common for channels to be funded via both parties sending coin in the same transaction.
More inputs means higher total transaction fees. I can imagine a future in which for LN users don't open their own channels at all: you just buy LN balance at an exchange, the exchange opens large channels, and you use their channels for buying coffee.
I know some people won't like that level of centralization, and I'm not a huge fan of it myself, but if that's what it takes to reach mass adoption, I can live with it. And if you really want, you can always pay the additional on-chain fees to connect your own node.

I saw estimates of exchanges holding a couple hundred billion dollars worth of crypto. Adding a few bucks for custodial coffee payments shouldn't be a problem.
11505  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 26, 2021, 08:03:22 AM
So why go through all the hassle and public ridicule? I don't believe it's all just ego-driven. In fact, Craig Wright knows very well that he is not Satoshi, and that he is a liar.

My theory is that they are secretly being paid under the table (by the Wall Street corrupt) to continue FUDing and being antagonistic toward Bitcoin.

The message is clear: Bitcoin needs constant negative press, constant FUD, and prominent "enemies", essentially forever.
Hey Wall Street, if you want to pay me to say something bad about Bitcoin, please make me an offer! I accept Bitcoin Cheesy

please add a word "only"
That was implied Wink
11506  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Opinions on Phoenix Wallet? on: April 26, 2021, 07:29:59 AM
If I am understanding correctly, you sent coin to ACINQ, and upon this transaction confirming, they opened a LN channel with you that involves you having outbound capacity in the amount of the coin you sent (less any fees they are charging you), and possibly some inbound capacity for you.
All correct!

Quote
If this is true, there is no risk to ACINQ because your "deposit" has already confirmed. Allowing a LN transaction to be processed when the opening transaction is unconfirmed is opening up risk to the counterparty to the channel only, and no one else in the LN network. This is probably a setting that should be set to "disable" by default though.
At first, I was very disappointed they opened a channel with such a low fee.
When I found out I could just use the channel, I was pleasantly surprised. Even though it's more or less custodial until the channel got confirmed, from a user's perspective it's very convenient.

On PhoenixWallet's Telegram channel, I read they disallowed opening channels for new users for a while. High on-chain fees don't really work with chain-related LN actions.
11507  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lightning bitcoin payment on this forum on: April 26, 2021, 05:14:24 AM
There's no need to close the channel each week, they can just keep it open.
Doesn't that require your client to remain online (connected to Lightning Network) to keep the channel open for the duration of multiple weeks?
If you're thinking about a malicious node broadcasting an older channel state, then yes, your LN client should be online once in a while to prevent that.
I assumed most people keep their devices online most of the time anyway.
11508  Economy / Gambling / Re: RED or BLACK | 50% Chance to win| Provably Fair| Instant Withdraw | 24hFreerolls on: April 25, 2021, 06:11:30 PM
I'm pretty sure there's a bug in the Freeroll tournament: a new round started, where all players had 100 FUN. Right at the start I entered 100, and vincabk played at the same time. The pot ended up as 101 FUN, one more than my balance.
I won, and gained 100 (total balance: 200 FUN). But we disappeared from the Leaderboard, and instead of 1x/20 there were only 11/15 spots left.
Screenshot after this happened:
Image loading...

It seems wrong that multiple players can add to the pot. Like I've seen yesterday, for example when I add 150 FUN (but didn't play), another player ended up playing with 150.7 FUN. I haven't been able to screenshot that yet.

I think a user can prevent others from playing by continuously resetting the bet-timer.

That is exactly what I am doing, but my screen is completely different to what you have uploaded for me.
As far as I know, Blockchain.com doesn't allow to export private keys anymore. You'll need to get them from your seed phrase.

While you're hunting Forks, don't forget the others.
11511  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lightning bitcoin payment on this forum on: April 25, 2021, 03:07:16 PM
2. No wallet yet support multiple payment.
I've thought about it before: technically, it would be possible to create a campaign that pays a user within seconds after each post (with manual quality check to kick out abusers)! Scraping posts is easy, if you add a LN-node, each participant could receive near-instant payments.
LN isn't really designed to send payments to multiple users at once, but there's no need for that if you automate the individual payments.
11512  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lightning bitcoin payment on this forum on: April 25, 2021, 01:12:52 PM
I have not used lightning network before
Well, there's your problem!

Quote
I will like campaign managers to give some valid reasons they are not yet using lightning network
How about you start using LN first, before demanding others to do so?

I think in the next BTC paying campaign I will consider an LN payment if I can convince the devs of whatever the project is.
Good luck getting 50 payments request from 50 users to be paid before they expire! I'd like to see this happen though, it's better than creating dust inputs.

I need a custodial wallet that allows
1. Mass payment like using Electrum I can pay more then one address in one transaction
Talk to BlueWallet, they're active on Telegram and might be willing to add a feature for this.

Lets say your signature campaign wanted to do this, they have to:
1. Open a channel for this week/month 's payment which means sending an on-chain transaction to that channel (fee #1)
2. Send out the payment to each user on LN (a tiny LN fee for each tx)
3. Close the channel since there won't be any payment until next round (fee #2)
4. Each user (or at least most of them) that receives the payment has to close their channel and move the coins to their wallets (fee #3)
This means using LN in this case replaced 1 on-chain fee with 3 on-chain and a tiny LN fees which makes no sense.
Users shouldn't open a channel to the campaign manager, but to a node. There's no need to close the channel each week, they can just keep it open.
If the users plan to move the coins on-chain each week, then indeed using LN makes no sense. For small amounts, even exchanging from LN to some altcoin is cheaper on fees than using on-chain Bitcoin.

After using LN for a while, with both BlueWallet and Phoenix Wallet on Android, I really like it! I have no need to move funds back on-chain anymore.

Something to think about for the campaign manager: without on-chain evidence, what will you do when someone claims not to have received his payment?
11513  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 25, 2021, 11:50:40 AM
Every time I say that I regret using BTC for purchases, I can't help but feel like I'm "betraying" Bitcoin by not supporting its use as money. Laszlo Hanyecz comes to mind. At the same time, Bitcoin has become so important and so valuable as an asset, that spending it on petty purchases just doesn't feel right anymore. It's like cutting a piece of gold from a gold bar to pay for your weekly supermarket shopping. I'd rather use fiat for that. Perhaps, there may come a time when the mere ownership (and not the spending) of Bitcoin will grant the owner special privileges. Bitcoin is just too precious to spend, unless absolutely necessary.
Easy fix: buy back the Bitcoin you spend Wink It comes with conversion costs, but rewarding companies that accept Bitcoin by actually paying with Bitcoin is how we increase adoption.

I got this answer:

Hello. The Letter of Guarantee you provided is signed with different address. Your letter signed by 1CrypMix3194qKbmZBeM2TRxgBu1gorrB4. Our public address 1CrypMixXWtTjYGCM5ZJmyQYP1Y39P7aLM was created back in 2016 and has never changed.
If their server was hacked, they have to give us our money. This is FRAUD!!!!!!!!
If the server is hacked, obviously the attacker can change the signing address as mentioned on the site. That makes it difficult to know with certainty which is the official signing address. At this moment, cryptomixns23scr.onion/faq.html shows 1CrypMixXWtTjYGCM5ZJmyQYP1Y39P7aLM, and was confirmed in this unedited post:
What you can do to make sure that the Letter of Guarantee has been generated not by third side besides checking the signature is to check the signing address provided in the Letter of Guarantee on the blockchain explorer. Our original signing address has been generated back in 2016 and has 32 pages of donation transactions on about 40 BTC in total and has never changed:

https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/1CrypMixXWtTjYGCM5ZJmyQYP1Y39P7aLM
This address (1CrypMixXWtTjYGCM5ZJmyQYP1Y39P7aLM) was posted in this topic in 2016 by several users.
I'll leave neutral feedback with this information.

The /][banned mixer] and cryptomixns23scr.onion domains are registered back in 2016 and have never changed!

Stay vigilant!

11516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donate to Cobra (pending court battle against Craig Wright) on: April 25, 2021, 09:06:33 AM
(Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum - Wasn’t sure where to post - Feel free to move if necessary)
Maybe service section or bitcoin discussion section but honestly speaking I am not too sure too. The reason for those two alternative board is because surely this is not a forum related issue.
I'd say this relates to the foundation of Bitcointalk! There's also https://bitcointalk.org/bitcoin.pdf.

I guess he's going after Bitcoin.org because it doesn't have deep pockets like Bitcointalk, and because the owner is more or less anonymous? That's low Crack, even for you!

Further reading: gmaxwell's topic So, you want to get sued by a scammer?

Obviously, any ruling by a court saying that CSW is satoshi doesn't make that statement true, although it would make it important to make it clear that you are stating an opinion when saying that CSW is not satoshi.
I trust signed messages:
Big news regarding Faketoshi and his ownership regarding Tulip Trust addresses.

Someone signed this message from 100 addresses with BTC mined in 2009:

"Craig Steven Wright is a liar and a fraud. He doesn't have the keys used to sign this message.

The Lightning Network is a significant achievement. However, we need to continue work on improving on-chain capacity.

Unfortunately, the solution is not to just change a constant in the code or to allow powerful participants to force out others.

We are all Satoshi"

Satoshi is gone for good. If he wanted to cash out, he'd have cashed out already. If he wanted to reassure the world that those coins are gone, he'd burn them by moving them to some known black hole address. The fact that the coins are still there after all that happened with bitcoin and finance and multiteradollar marketcap can have two explanations:

1 - Satoshi is gone for good
2 - Satoshi likes to keep bitcoiners on their toes

I lean towards 1.
Third option: Satoshi is in jail.

There is more than enough gold mined already to be used for industries for centuries.
It should be considered a worthless asset as it's too dangerous and too polluting to mine.
When talking about Bitcoin, I often hear the argument: "What if a whale sells everything, the price would drop!". With gold, I've never seen anyone worry about that, while most of the gold is owned by very few entities.

in case your site goes offline. What would the users do in case such an event happened?
In that case, all they can do is kick themselves for trusting an anonymous website with their money!
a custodial cryptocurrency wallet
By my definition, anything custodial shouldn't be called a wallet (maybe with the exception of LN wallets in which some parts of the wallet are custodial). A wallet, by my definition, gives you and only you access to the private keys.

Anyone can of course choose to use an anonymous custodial service, but they should be very aware of the risks.
Depending on the user's needs, some people may like that an anonymous site owner can't be forced to follow KYC regulations. I don't like being forced to send a selfie to an unknown site to get my money back.

Nummix is a transit wallet with a dynamically adjusted service fee (the wallet is not intended for long-term storage)
There's always the risk of selective scamming (for some reason some people send ridiculously large amounts to anonymous websites) or an exit scam when total deposits get high enough.
I do however like what you've built. I probably won't be using it myself though for reasons mentioned above.

is this thread considered doxing?
Maybe. I've reported it:

Potential doxing (image of person in link). Move to Investigations (at best)?

When in doubt, just report it! Let the Mods decide, a bad report isn't that bad.
