3.2 MYBITCOIN LLC is not a bank and the MyBitcoin System does not operate as a bank and therefore MYBITCOIN LLC nor the MyBitcoin System are in any way subject to any form of banking regulations in any jurisdiction.

I am so glad I didn't sign up for this.

Does that include Social porn stars ? Smiley

Vegetta and Jessie Kang/King or whoever are back?!?
1163  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is Bitcoin tanking this afternoon? on: August 03, 2011, 01:17:56 PM
I like how hackers, social engineers, and/or douchfags, have made the issue of over mining a non issue lol
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DO NOT SELL TO BOTS OR BUY FROM BOTS on: August 03, 2011, 01:16:18 PM
Rather than be Anti-bot, I am for better programming to avoid such occurrences.
occurrences? of what? bots? or stupid people like tasty?
i don't understand what you mean.

Bots themselves and the occurrences of their use so easily.    The markets need to find out what specific things the program looks for and find ways that it cannot be exploited.

This could probably done with some type of 'over verification' process, where people have to re-enter passwords multiple times to make one trade.

It's the solution only people who are actually invested in Bitcoin long term will love.  Traders and bots will hate it.
1165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Freedom and Responsibility - or: why you FAILED if you lost money in MBC crash on: August 03, 2011, 12:56:59 PM
Earlier this year...

"Let’s Make Some Predictions...
Finally, there will be massive breakage in bitcoins. If your laptop crashes and you didn’t back up your bitcoins, well, you’re SOL. If someone steals you laptop that has 10,000 bitcoins on it you won on Bitcoin Poker, you’re SOL. Lost your USB drive with 500 bitcoins on it after a night out on the town? You’re SOL."
I would like my dollar to be able to be 'backed up' in the sense that I can destroy what is in my wallet in front of me physically, and know the value can still be recovered.

Laptop theory is same with or without Bitcoin, including many user names or passwords that you used on that laptop and etc etc.   If you kept all your user names and passwords secure, then no doubt the wallet with digital money on your hard drive is secure too, no?

Lost your USB drive = lost your wallet.

Loved that link though.

Thanks for this heads up, interesting.
1168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [UABCI] September 27, 2011 U.S. Department of the Treasury to regulate BitCoin on: August 03, 2011, 12:46:49 PM
Very against this UABCI

It is a scam.  I feel sorry for all who fall prey to your posts.

This is not a joke post.

Sadly, I believe Matthew N. Wright and whoever his cohorts are, really think they might be doing good (well not all of them, one of them must know the scam).  Will not comment further at the moment.  Bitcoin is the most amusing soap opera ever.
1169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MtGox is fine people on: July 31, 2011, 06:28:11 PM
I see what they're doing!

They're trying to flood the system with their own HIGH PRICE orders to buy their own LOW PRICE orders.

Nice.  I would consider that an exploit of bad code.  There has to be a way to avoid that.

*** Initial announcement - more details will be made available within the next hours. ***

To our beloved Mt. Gox Clients,

During a planned system upgrade which introduced diverse support for multiple currencies, our locking mechanism did not operate as intended. As such, trades in the order book continued to execute during the upgrade.

Our team was able to spot the erroneous trading and immediately froze the system. After the upgrade was complete, we reverted all of the invalid trades to their original state. Following this, as an added precaution, we emptied the order book and recreated all of the open orders in order to rebuild the order book back to its original state.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we look forward to answering any more questions you may have through our support system. We firmly believe in transparency in our firm and wish to give thanks to all of our beloved clients for allowing us to serve them as the world's leading bitcoin exchange.

Problems, solutions, informing people as soon as possible of the situation.  +1 Gox.
1171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some conspiracy theories.... on: July 31, 2011, 04:48:22 PM
It strikes me that the enemies of Bitcoin, so far, could rest on their heels and allow incompetence, naivety, exhaustion, etc to do the job.  Occam's razor suggests to me that factors such as these are responsible for the most severe issues...so far.
Bitcoin users will continue to do themselves in until smarter (obviously not book smart, we have enough fo those) people come in and start playing the BTC game.
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Conference on: July 31, 2011, 04:44:11 PM
toddbethell, until I see your name attached to anything of relevance to the community (more than an idea here and there), you have to be one of the biggest, and best, trolls on the forums.

I believe you are real person with real agendas, unfortunately most of those agendas seem to deal with whining and unrealistic solutions to problems you are creating yourself.

I also look forward to seeing if you are tied to the current MyBitcoin soap opera in any way Smiley

So many great threads to read through when you stop checking the forums daily.

btw todd, my post is semi-fucking with you.  That Bitcoin Conference is definitely starting to sound like OnlyOneTV conference (I know not your words), however trying to change the conference with this post in a public area, makes no logical sense.

Also,  http://fastscanning.com/ has one catchy logo.

1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: something's up on: July 31, 2011, 04:21:45 PM
I love when things like this happen, because of the way Bitcoin works, it is in front of all our eyes, and all everyone can do is speculate.    Honestly amazing as all hell the smart people behind some of the ventures and random things creating value to Bitcoin, and yet security, the thing we all talk about the most, is the last thing people seem to care about.

They just put in in third party sites (insert the millionth FlexCoin commercial post this week here) rather than educating themselves it seems.

Also, MagicalTux post's of system upgrading not going as planned plus MyBitcoin shit CONFIRMS CRAZY SHIT IS GOING ON SELL SELL SELL EVERYONE NOW FEAAAR.
1175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: mybitcoin down or just me? on: July 31, 2011, 06:36:42 AM
I'm sorry to tell you guys this but there is a robbery in progress from mybitcoin.com. Do not use this service ever again!

Please supply source.

joking....lol.....I have no idea what is going on.

God damn trolls are getting lazy
1176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything is Amazing and nobody's happy. on: July 30, 2011, 07:22:09 PM
Most views regarding Bitcoin based on users of this forum are sadly not far off.   I have faith though Smiley
1177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / E-Wallet/E-Bank versus a Laptop you have JUST for Bitcoin on: July 30, 2011, 07:15:37 PM
How much money do you have invested in one of these online services?

What would be the cost to own one laptop that you personally have taken measures to secure?   It obviously wouldn't have to be a top of the line laptop. in theory just anything that could connect to the Internet decently, right?

I am trying to deduce what that price would be about where it makes more sense to invest in learn a little more about security than to put faith in services that are backed by their word alone.
1178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ideas for Bitcoin businesses on: July 30, 2011, 07:12:20 PM
These are just the ideas that I can come up with off the top of my head. Bitcoin is the biggest opportunity for startups since the WWW.
If only it was attracting more trustworthy people Sad
1179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: July 30, 2011, 07:03:04 PM
That conference sounds awesome.

I love the lack of MyBitcoin on BitcoinMe now Smiley
1180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TradeHill - Why we no longer accept Dwolla and an open letter to Ben Milne on: July 30, 2011, 06:53:42 PM
The info they have required from people has been how they have operated with trust, Tradehill is dealing with a ton of real cash that they need to be 100% sure is protected.

I am sure as time goes deals can be worked without with Tradehill and Paxum in ways that Dwolla seems to be working out with Gox, and that can make fees go down and possibly ID requirements for whiners, to go down.

I think people need to let that 'this is all anonymous' shit go once they want to bring 'real world' money into the picture.   At least for now.  In the name of security :/
