[Not sure what you've been smokin', but I put it on the list 2 days ago.  Kiss (or was it later?)

I was posting the above, then I re check, I see the edit and norml was listed, but there was no way I wasn't going to not use that gif, not now not then not ever.  Double negatives.

I am not optimistic about the majority voting this as a cause to donate for, but I can hope people would look past their personal ideals and remember they are in this for the promotion of Bitcoin, and I have no doubts I could easily argue why Norml not only deserves it more than most any of the other charities listed so far, with a big point imo, is the user base fact.  This is peanut butter and jelly here.

If you go down the list of charities suggested so far, ask yourself "Would Against Malaria Foundation use Bitcoin?"    who knows and who cares.   Exactly.   Where when you see Norml, it's probably the only organization that would not only take Bitcoin, but possibly take it upon themselves to educate their donators on Bitcoin, something I cannot see all other sites doing, at most putting up their 'We Accept Bitcoins' png

More Bitcoin users means more Bitcoin users can donate.  Again, check the lists of charities people, is there another one listed that will truly promote Bitcoin on top of actually changing the world itself, which in turn effects ever other charity listed Smiley
262  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: The Bitcoin Theme Song! on: December 24, 2011, 10:48:05 AM
Bitcoin needs a new song marketing attack that no one is on yet.  I suggest a ring tone campaign.  Go back to your 'jingle' idea, but focus on just a true jingle.  A catchy phrase over just a few notes of memorable music, not a full song, just a jingle.

Now, make it a ring tone campaign.  Make it where it isn't annoying, make sure to offer up downloads and formats for every single phone type possible, be fairly serious on this, wav, mp3, wmv, etc, let people know it's for everyone.

I would think there would either have to be a humor slant or the jingle would have to be that good sounding where people will hear it off of a Bitcoin users phone, and want that tune too.

I think for any non creative people who would take this on, the quickest and easiest route to go on this would be some kind of parody jingle.  Take a catchy song that people hate, flip it and make it one they like.  Just a general rule about music, if there is a huge popular song that everyone listens and bobs their head to but everyone claims to hate, that is the song to parody, those people are wanting to hear that music with different words, give it to them.

Enjoy this marketing idea that is unexploited, it is for you Bitcoin, but I'd like to see someone try to tap this market, I don't have the product to sell to match with this thought, but I can see it working with Bitcoin going along the idea of music spreading awareness.

264  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Bitcoin-accepting organizations' acceptance/usage of GoDaddy which supports SOPA on: December 24, 2011, 09:42:57 AM
I have read enough for the past couple of hours, the too little too late sentiment regarding GoDaddy is sticking with me strongly.

I am going to look at the options people are making available, and I have no spare cash so if this is something that will cost me anything, than I am fucked here until next week sometime, but what are the best options?  I have seen some links for pages to make transferring off GoDaddy so simple, but they are all down.  Not that I can't figure out the back end of GoDaddy to transfer shit out of there, but I am lazy and enjoy reading large jpgs of text that offers things in five easy steps.

Funny, Gawker dox'd GoDaddy CEO

Parsons stars in a self-help video blog, released bi-monthly on his website. His sidekick in the elaborately-produced videos is a busty blonde named "Leann" who inexplicably breaks into fake gangsta slang at random times. Episode #35 of Parson's blog is called "How to grow STEEL BALLS (even if you're a woman)."

Parsons cannot get enough attention. He loves publicity so much that GoDaddy called off an IPO in 2006 because of a "quiet period" which meant Parsons would have had to cancel his Internet radio show and stay off TV and radio. "For us, the quiet period that came along with the I.P.O. filing has been suffocating," he wrote on his blog.

He once wrote about how he was a fan of abusing Guantanamo Bay detainees because it was "incredibly mild" compared to what the terrorists were up to. Then he backed down after public outcry.
Parsons' YouTube account features a 7-minute trailer to his 2009 wedding video. His wedding video has a trailer. And it looks to have been shot for IMAX.

Parsons lives according to 16 principles, including such revolutionary mantras as "take things a day at a time" and "solve your own problems."

Parsons' Twitter handle is Drbobparsons. But his bio states "Not a real doc." In fact, Parsons received an honorary doctorate of "Humane Letters" from the University of Maryland.

He has a giant diamond stud in one ear.

If Archive.org can get support, why not Norml?  Noticed no mention in the other thread  Cry

If there are votes for causes, should there be votes against causes?

I know if religious people are willing to accept marijuana users, I would be willing to donate to any cause for the promotion of Bitcoin, but if there are others that have reservations because of personal issues with an organization, or what defines a charitable organization, I would like to exercise that right too, as I do not want any of my Bitcoin to go toward any groups that have strong affiliations with a God or religion of any kind, especially if it is in the name of the organization.

I agree it isn't the size of your hashes, it is how you use it.      Does someone have a timeline to compare where Bitcoin was at it's conception against where Solidcoin/IXCoin/Litecoin/etc is at currently.  Like when Bitcoin was six months old, what things were going on with it compared to where Namecoin was six months in?   Userbase, coin generation, actual usefulness in the world.

Atlas has been trolling everyone for a while, except the forums all knew and troll him back.  But both sides know this right?  Everyone just has a lot of free time right?   I mean I know I do when I can semi keep up with this stuff.  Does Atlas still post on those scam forums that the Goons had linked to back in the day?
272  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free Bitcoins on The Bitcoin Show Next Monday sponsored by Coinbits.com on: December 18, 2011, 01:28:43 PM
A lot of bad people use cash.  A lot of bad people use Visa.  I do not think we can sanitize cash, credit cards or Bitcoin.  People you will not like, who have done things you don't like, or even have done illegal things will use Bitcoin.  That is the way it is.

Exactly, no need to factor in things like past history when dealing with investments in new currencies and screw taking a second and allowing yourself to rightfully judge a business based on it's advertising choices.
273  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Physical Litecoins on: December 17, 2011, 07:57:54 PM
And he also made me some transparent acrylic coin!

I want one of those.   Shocked    What is the cost that goes into the acrylic coins?   Or I guess the better question, what would be the dollar selling price to one of those as a novelty, without any LTC attached to it if that isn't determined yet.
274  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free Bitcoins on The Bitcoin Show Next Monday sponsored by Coinbits.com on: December 17, 2011, 12:50:45 AM
If a site I used was going to be advertising on The Bitcoin Show, I have the same feelings RaggedMonk does, and will definitely always keep in mind Coinbits using The Bitcoin Show as a platform for acceptable advertising.   I don't use Coinbits regular enough to have a strong opinion on that, but I think you should be happy if anyone would care enough about your site to bring up such concerns.

Everyone groans when a big business pulls out of some kind of advertising campaign based on personal politics, but that groan is so short compared to true business lost and the view of your company if you do work with someone that would have such a questionable record.

Wow, https://flippa.com/2651866-forbitcoin-com-established-bitcoin-site-fully-automated-bonus-domain   Forbitcoin going for only a grand, you too could own the email address and info of 2000+ Bitcoin users

This auction is for Forbitcoin.com, a Fiverr Style Bitcoin website with over 2100 users.

This was my teams brainchild back in May/June 2011 ... so I got my team to build these kick ass sites up, do some major promotion, and got a ton of users & traffic through google rank & SEO. We rank well on both sites for "earn bitcoin" and "free bitcoin". Forbitcoin has about 2000+ users, and a sister site Freebitcoins has about 17,000+ users (all with email addresses) and we have twitter and facebook followers for both sites, as well as supporting blogs and domains that will be included in the sale. *Note: Freebitcoins.org is going in a separate auction soon... watch for it!

I think I may have read when this was going for sale, I forget

Satoshi Polanski.

http://www.youtube.com/user/vlogwrap/videos not sure if anyone checks the Bitcoin Show statistics or the value of preaching to the choir when you all view that as the only media outlet that will report on Bitcoin related things.
277  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does anyone keep track of all Donations the are made to Charity Organizations? on: December 16, 2011, 10:30:03 PM
I was reading things in the archive.org thread but was wondering in a general way is cashing out all donated funds not a necessary thing to ensure that a certain set rate is established when people donate their Bitcoin?

I guess it could be up to each organization, but is this something that all of you who are approaching these places making sure they really understand this point.  I know the market has been steady as of recent, but that means shit, and I'd hate for a bunch of people to "loose faith" in Bitcoin or even just in helping causes because whatever said cause did not realize what they were given was worth $3000 today, and $300 the next minute.

Sorry again for not replying in the archive.org thread, but I thought this would apply to more if people are checking the blockexplorer and showing they are sitting on Bitcoin, making it pretty valueless unless they at the very least exchange it for that fiat right away.   Sorry for all you hardcore that wish for all donated funds to be spent directly back in Bitcoin, I say one step at a time and make sure no one feels like they got ripped off because of ignorance.
278  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin mining, Issues. on: December 15, 2011, 01:18:56 AM
There are a lot of Linux builds where people shouldn't fear it as much, highly graphical interface, and if you aren't afraid to type or copy and paste code every once in a while, it's not bad.  You can dual boot in Windows, I did it with Ubuntu.

Well hopefully all users will keep in mind they put in a pledge for a purpose, and now approaching the first possible donation, we are able to see these little issues that need to be mended.  Growing pains, keep the faith, Gage will make good Smiley
