I will order a spare fan as my ant hill will continue growing so I will more than likely being needing spares anyway.  Is Ebay the best choice?  What is a fair price after shipping?

Anyone have these?  Are they any good?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-Antminer-120mm-Fan-5000rpm-20in-cables-4pins-connector-BEST-/131665902676?hash=item1ea7e63c54:g:EiwAAOSwnH1WXl-D

I'm not familiar with the brand.  Others here may be.  It's a damn good price for sure for 3.4 Amp 5000 RPM fan.  I paid $24.00 w/free shipping for each of 10 units on Amazon from one seller in mid summer for 5,000 RPM; 250 CFM @ 3.4 Amps specs.  Now you will pay about the same but will also pay for shipping for about $30.00 each fan on Amazon.  I like the price of the one you found.  I'm just not sure of the durability.  Only time will tell.

How much are you making on kano pools daily avg. thinking about switching but what to make at less 0.032 btc daily.

I've started keeping up stats with rewards with the CKPool Monitor created by Zach.  The stats don't lie.  You see the stats in AMOUNT PER TH/s in each column.  I have not been at kano long enough for the 30 day and 60 day column to catch up with the 7 day and 14 day columns yet.  Which means the 30 day and 60 day columns have insufficient data at the moment.  Give it more time...

You'll notice the 14 day column average per TH/s is 0.00832183 BTC and the 7 day average is 0.00813792 BTC.  I gave the 14 day first because it's more sufficient data over a longer period.  Also, I have not had all of my hash added to the pool.  I actually took my hash away a couple of times and brought it back.  Both times was for about 24 hours.  YET, I still got paid while I was away when blocks were found.  I came back the moment a block was found.  I've determined it's best just to keep all your hash there during slow times and good times.

On NiceHash at the moment, one gets paid in PPS at a rate of .0047 per TH/s.  Now compare that to .00832183 over 2 weeks and .00813792 over the past week at kano.is

I have 104.5 TH/s pointed to CK/Kano Pool.  It was 94.5 TH/s but I pointed another 2 x S7's at the pool yesterday.  Also, I needed to add the data of the most recent block found at kano.is to the chart below.  I felt this was sufficient enough for now for you to get an idea.

The reason my payout for the last block was less than previous even though I had more hash is because the pool had increased in hash rate.  Also, the difficulty increased as well.

1163  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Just lost about 7PH/s on: January 03, 2016, 11:48:44 PM
Back down at 33 PH/s - will "luck" take a turn for the better again like it did last time a substantial amount of hash left the pool?

The one miner with 13.5 PH/s pointed 6 PH/s of his hash elsewhere.  Every time they do that, the pool finds more blocks.  Which has me wondering if that particular miner is withholding blocks when all of his hash is here to get people to move to other pools.  They do it for only a certain length of time before deciding to take their hash back to another pool to earn more coin and use the hash they left here to earn more coin.  Once they see people coming back to the pool again, they bring all their hash back and withhold blocks again.  Who knows for sure though?  Can only speculate...

I'm convinced to point my rigs elsewhere.  I got sick of mining in the blind with no updates from pool operators as to anything going on or taking place at the pool.  The code they use is not "open" for others to see it; which makes one wonder why?  They make no attempts to post updates in the forum or even on their website.  The occasional b/s posted on Facebook.  Why Facebook instead of their on "News" section on their website or in the forum?  There code used for the pool kept private is what turns me off the most.  It makes one wonder if they can actually be trusted.

I can appreciate the other pool I switched to in which the developers frequent the forum and provide updates almost several times daily as to activities going on with the pool.  The code they use is "open" for all to see so that you know there is no b/s in the mix.  With their code out in the "open," you also see if they know what they are doing.

That's my two cents...

DOES SCREECHING FAN count as a failure?  Also the lack of any response or care for my issue probably could be categorized as a failure regardless of what batch.    Other than that my Batch 8 are running fine for a week.  Still have another 1 to be power up tomorrow, hoping for the best.

Unfortunately, I don't think "screeching fan" will count.  Maybe it will.  It's hard to say what they would do...
1166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Collecting Data on B8 S7 Failure Rates on: January 03, 2016, 07:54:12 PM
I have one batch 8 that hashed fine for a while then check on them one day after all my rigs failed over from number 1 pool to number 2 pool.  It was hashing at approximately 3,000 GH/s on the number 2 pool.  Eventually, number 1 pool came back up and was "Alive" again but still only 3,000 GH/s [Meaning, 2 boards hashing instead of 3].  I did not see any "x" or "-" for any blades.  I rebooted several times and I simply "save and apply" several times with no success of 4,700 GH/s again.  I disconnected that rig and hooked up another rig to take it's place.  That rig is sitting to the side at the moment.  I'm planning on getting back to checking that rig again later this evening or tomorrow to see if it still has the same issue.  I'll keep you updated.
1167  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pics of Huge Hosting Mine Under Construction, (Dec 2015 Update: We've moved) on: January 03, 2016, 07:43:08 PM
I actually PM'd ASICSPACE last week and offered him the opportunity to increase his sales by way of me stopping telling people the facts about how his place is a ripoff, and my compensation for this service, which could ultimately increase his business, would have been 2 BTC.  He offered me a discount on one of their hosting plans.  First of all, I don't have any ASICs, and second of all, I sure as hell wouldn't send them to him if I did!  He didn't even offer me a tiny fragment of a BTC, claiming he couldn't afford 2 BTC.

What an asswad.

So you saying you tried to blackmail them into paying you?  That is pretty lame to say the least... to ask for payment to stop you posting info.  If you had lost money on it then I could see it.... but not losing money and trying to force money just is bad.

I am really surprised you posted about this.   Do you do this to others as well?

He's spews useless crap out of his mouth all the time.  I had him on ignore for a while.  I took it off of ignore to see what he had been saying in this thread.  It turns out to be pretty much of the same as in other threads.  Hence, why he's back on "ignore."

Really sucks since you weren't expecting the bill, but holy shit you've got it good. An S7 import into Canada is ~$300 and never free. You guys have it customs free 99% of the time, and when it isn't it's a pittance.

Hope you can get it resolved with the appropriate entity none the less!

Thanks, Prelude.  I hope to get it resolved easily without having to pay upfront.  If UPS makes threats of late fee charges without up front payment while submitting claim for me, I'm done with them.

Unfortunately, I cannot talk to anyone about it until Monday.

Can anyone else who received shipments via UPS from China provide the "Duty Class" number UPS provided in an envelope mailed to you?  I could use it during my dispute with customs.

dmwardjr I only had 1 miner sent to me in Indiana by UPS from Bitmain and have not received anything from UPS about any money due.

On another note has anybody received the computation from B1 yet. I provided my wallet information as was requested but have not seen it come thru yet.

That's usually the way it goes with only about 3 or less.  Same here.  I've had only one miner and even 3 miners sent at one time without additional charges from UPS.  However, when I had 5 x S4's shipped, I had additional charges.  When I had 6 x S5's shipped, I had additional charges.  When I had 9 x S7's shipped, I had additional charges.  And of course, when I had these 23 x S7's shipped I had some serious additional charges.

Keep us posted on how it goes DMwardjr.  That's a huge bill so if you're able to get them to hold the charge for 6 months or win, that's almost another S7 right there!  =)

I'll keep you posted.

Does anyone know if it is a UPS agent who assigns the HST import codes to packages or if it is a customs agent for the government who assigns the HST import code to packages?

That's a good question.  I know in my case it would be UPS as I have contractual agreement that assigns them as acting broker for export/imports.
It could also be Bitmain that is assigning HST codes.  I know when I export large volume via other freight companies, I'm required to select HST codes as exporter on customs documentations.

I'd contact UPS before paying the bill.  With Fedex I contacted them prior to paying.  They said they would file a grievance claim on my behalf, during which payment would be put on hold and would incur no additional late fees.  They did say it could take up to 6 months to resolve the change.

thank you very much!!!

Can anyone tell me what the deal is IF I do not pay it?  But still file a claim...

I saw you are from Alabama, what part?  I am just south of Nashville...

Also not dutiable, but that doesn't mean that they wont take it up front, and dealing with UPS' post entry department makes SCOTUS decisions look rapid.

Please clarify what you mean with that statement???

Does this mean I might can handle it with UPS since they are the one's wanting me to send the money to them; which means I won't have to deal with Customs?

Yes, assuming you have a UPS account of any appreciable volume, their post entry department should handle the customs claim for you, though there is a very limited window in which to file it, and as mentioned, time frames for recovery can be long, think next calendar year and don't count on the funds.  Wink

You mean they will not give me the funds back if I pay them now?
1176  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 03, 2016, 05:38:08 AM
Wow, that's a lot for duties/customs.
All the s5's I ordered via UPS never resulted in duty/custom fees.  I was under the impression the express shipping included most duty/taxes with UPS.
Most of my S7 purchases I used Fedex as the shipping rate was lower than UPS, about 8 bucks per unit.  I ended up paying $8 bucks duty/customs via Fedex on the first few orders.
Then batch 5, 20 pieces someone screwed up and put $128k for value - but even with that, they were only requesting $440 duty/tax.  Should have only been $160 based on correct declared value.
Last batch 8 order - 10 pieces I decided to go back to UPS because I never had duty/custom fees before with them.  That could be because I have an import/export contract with them in place though.

I was SHOCKED, to say the least...   Shocked

I'm still trying to determine if it is an employee of UPS who assigns HST codes for imports or if it's someone from the government?

Who is it that assigns an HST code for imports into the USA?

Is it UPS or is it someone with the government?
1178  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 03, 2016, 05:33:19 AM
Probably not a bad idea.  It means I would have to purchase different wire shelves to go on top of my IBM 2880's.  I would then set the S7's on top of the wire shelf that is resting on top of the 2880 PSU's.

You could just cannibalize one and make a single rack with 10 shelves instead of five... At the price you really can't go wrong, and then you can get higher density without much hassle.

That's one fun thing about the Avalons - I use 2 per 2880, and I just put it on top of them, so makes setup a breeze.

Agreed...

And I was going to buy 3 of these and cannibalize one to make 5 shelves on each rack.

I just thought I would let you know that HomeDepot is having a great deal on the best metal rack in the business.  It has 3 support braces per shelf.  The deal is good up until January 31, 2016 or until supplies last.  Amazon has it for $311.00.  Sam's Club has it for $249.00.  HomeDepot is selling it for $169.99 plus tax.  If you have it shipped to a local store and pick it up there yourself, you will have no cost for shipping.  It will cost you to have it shipped to your house.  Here's the link:  http://www.homedepot.com/p/Gladiator-4-Shelf-73-in-H-x-77-in-W-x-24-in-D-Welded-Steel-Garage-Shelving-Unit-GARS774SZG/204280487

While not as heavy duty, I'm a big fan of these baker's shelves:

http://amzn.to/1NYiBVI

It takes two to equal the same capacity as that one, but it comes in at $120 so you could almost buy 3 for the same amount - plus it has five shelves instead of 4.  For miners like the S7's, they're more than capable of holding them.  The only time I've used ones like you listed is when I had a ton of scrypt miners that were huge and weighted a ton, then I didn't feel really good about the bakers racks, even though technically they say they can hold the weight.
