1161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][rICO]Antshares Blockchain Mainnet is ONLINE! on: April 14, 2017, 10:44:14 AM
Isn't the symbol ANS? I see some referring to it as ANC

from the whitepaper:

100 Million AntCoins could be generated, representing ALL of the right of using the Antshares Blockchain. ANC will be generated by every new block. With the set slowly-decreasing pace of generation, ANC will be generated from 0 to 100 Million within approximately 22 years.

ANC are used for

•Accounting Charge payment

•Extra Service Charge payment

•Bookkeeper Nominee Deposit as collateral

Ok but lots of exchanges  for and coinmarketcap use ANS: for example: https://api.coinmarketcap.com/v1/ticker/antshares/
Anybody know why the are using ANS outside of the whitepaper?

ANS and ANC are two different things, ANS is Antshares, ANC is Antcoins. Having Antshares on an address makes it possible to get Antcoins. Once a block is mined, each address that holds ANS will get ANC according to its ANS balance.

you are also able to trade ANC here: https://19800.com/market/cny_anc
but few volumes

So should an investor keep their ANS on an exchange so they will be more liquid? If I brought them in to a wallet as ANC would I be able to easily convert them to ANS? It seems difficult to sell ANC directly.

Nice is Vitalik interested in games?

I really like the fact that you can utilise C# and MS .net framework for development. Blows my mind.

Well if the development part is not easy enough organizations may not want to be part of it. Otherwise they would likely have to pay for some high priced consultants just to take advantage of the complex blockchain space. Easy entry means more likely to use, and this is good for Stratis.

DCR crash soon waiting  Undecided

Really, lets hear your detailed analysis as to why.

You guys heard about the new Sia integration with Nextcloud ? (corporate focused opensource dropbox alternative).

https://cointelegraph.com/news/sia-integration-with-nextcloud-gives-users-decentralized-backend

About Nextcloud's clients which will now be able to integrate with SIA:

That explains the recent price increase. Good to see Sia making some solid partnerships.

Price is going down which is good , will buy this cheaper .

It is not good, I lost money if the price goes lower. I bought massive Strat from 37k-43k. I should have bought more when the price was 8k, but no 8k price any more.

You have poor risk and money management. BTW nice to load more Stratis.

Cost averaging Stratis would have been a smart investment strategy. It feels safer and less risky.

cost averaging is more likely to be thee safest and smartest way when it comes to trading.

In general, cost averaging is the worst thing one can do in trading. Now, I'm not saying this applies to all trading, and may not apply to Stratis, in this moment

But it is very important, very important, to note that buying more as the price falls is perhaps the worst thing a trader can do, as a general rule.
Pyramiding into positions as the price rises (perhaps with a trailing stop) is perhaps the best.

But altcoins in this very immature market may for the time being be an exception. Or they may not.

Cut your losses and let your profits run is a proven strategy, in general.

Yea, usually when I decide I want in, I usually just buy all in then. Since I don't trust most exchanges I just want to trade quick and get my coins in my local wallet. So I do it all at once.

Exciting to see that GAME has reached above 40k now! I wonder where it will end up Smiley

So far, so good, we recently reached an ATH according to the charts I was looking at.

Current STRATIS Rich List Shows about 100 wallets have the funds needed to acquire a MasterNode  Cool

Hopefully they will support MasterNode pools so those of us with less then the required MN amount can pool our funds together to benefit.

Hi, noob question here. I previously bought a few tickets with success and earned some subsidy but now the wallet says I have insufficient funds to buy a ticket while I have enough spendable DCR in my wallet. Any idea what I might be doing wrong/is going on?

I would think if it says spendable, then you should be able to buy tickets. Try closing and restarting your wallet as it sometimes needs this to refresh. Also it takes 256 blocks (~1 day) for your stake reward to be returned and spendable.

Thanks, I guess although it says my DCR are spendable it needs more blocks to pass before I can buy tickets again. It now says need expiry beyond next height....

I am facing similar problems regarding stake mining / ticket purchase:

It worked quite fine for me during the last few weeks but recently two strange things keep happening:

1. I have the funds (108 DCR) to buy 3x tickets @ 33,12 DCR (it shows as "spendable" in my account). But when I try to buy 3 tickets I get an error "insufficent funds". Even for two tickets I seem to not have enough. I can only buy one. Why is that?!

2. Often I buy a ticket and and a few hours later the DCR I "spend" to buy the ticket are back in my account and I don't have a mining ticket. Huh

Thanks for any help.

What ticket fee did you specify? You want to stake with a fee close to the average

can you help me to create a conf file?

what I have to write in conf file to get more nodes?

Anyone know how many coins people got in the Airdrop ? And how often the airdrop happens ?

It was a one time deal to attract interest in the project and grow the community. Also it seems the devs are just good people for doing it. I think it was successful and now miners get their chance. I was lucky enough to get in the airdrop, but at the time it was tough to tell how well it would really progress. Later I realized it's potential and would have bought some months ago had I not had some already.

1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Epic Monster Moon on: March 22, 2017, 06:47:53 PM
i bought at 62(did not even know about this thread) not very happy now but i have a question:
where do you think siacoin could be in 1-3 years?
Could we expect a 10.000 X or maybe just a 2-10x type of increase?
Many people complain about the ICO 24B is this something that will stop it from reaching prices over 1$-10$ like the big coins, or that could be possible?

What i am asking is: could such a coin ever be 10-100$ or do you find that unlikely?

Thanks

Of course it could. Sia is basically looking to be a cheaper, robust, and much more secure version of the Amazon Cloud, dropbox, icloud etc, and maybe eventually your cloud DVR. It is very early in it's life and still very much in development. But if it succeeds I would expect the coins to be much more valuable. By getting in now, you are basically getting in at the angel investor stage. What I like to compare is market cap. If it reaches 1$ a coin it has a $22 Billion market cap. That is about the market cap of SNAP today. And if Youtube decides to use them for back-end storage, hold on for the ride of your life. If it becomes the worlds default storage option I couldn't even imagine what price it would be. Yet this is what they are building for.
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Siacoin Epic Monster Moon on: March 21, 2017, 05:48:58 PM
very interesting, do you know sth about the coin quantity ? 24 billion coins seems a little much , you know why that many and if they plan to do something against the inflation?

Siacoin requires a large number of coins as that is what it uses to for payments, collateral and so on. Also a number of coins get lost(burned) permanently in the system process. Since it user base could be huge and decentralized a large number of coins are justified. Now that being said the price of the coin reflects that large # of coins. Look at the market cap to see it's value.

Can someone post some nodes, can't sync

I think more people need to be staking to keep the chain zinging along.

Whats the average rate of return when it comes to staking?

OP has it at 5%/year

That's the rate of increase for the coin supply. I'll have a look at the repo to see what the stake reward is based on.

edit

I'll do it tomorrow.

Well this is a bundle of fun.

Basically, it's 5% per year

Code:
static const int64_t COIN_YEAR_REWARD = 5 * CENT; // 5% per year

But it looks like there is a change to encourage people to be online

Code:
// miner's coin stake reward based on coin age spent (coin-days)
    int64_t nSubsidy;
    if (IsProtocolV3(pindexPrev->nHeight))
        nSubsidy = (pindexPrev->nMoneySupply / COIN) * COIN_YEAR_REWARD / (365 * 24 * (60 * 60 / 64));
    else
        nSubsidy = nCoinAge * COIN_YEAR_REWARD * 33 / (365 * 33 + 8);

    if (fDebug && GetBoolArg("-printcreation"))
        LogPrintf("GetProofOfStakeReward(): create=%s nCoinAge=%d\n", FormatMoney(nSubsidy).c_str(), nCoinAge);

    return nSubsidy + nFees;

So that you don't just earn 5% on your balance, but 5% on your balance if you keep your connection open. Well, something like that. I didn't go all the way down the rabbit hole.

Looks similar to CBX's PoSP, but with cbx the block reward is fixed.

So I am a newbie to staking. Should I be staking with my coins in my wallet?
So you are saying 5% more coins per year if staking.

Will I only get a reward if I keep it open 24/7/365?

I think this code saying if you are staking 200 days a year you will get 200/365 * 5% reward? So in this case it would be like 2.74%

Thanks
