Question: Why Satoshi Nakamoto didn't secure his e-mail in the proper way? Changing passwords from time to time etc... he knew that many of h@x0r5 will try to compromise it...

This is very kinda not good but I don't think that hacker doxed him indeed.

Perhaps Satoshi is not just a one person ... think about it, Satoshi is not still alive or this is not just one person.

Why would he abandon his e-mail account if he knew that it is connected with other accounts. He is a genius, right? He should think about those simple little things too. This is why I think now that it cannot be the one person or Satoshi is dead Sad Sad

We should force those journalists from Motherboard to tell something more about this h@x0r, they manage to contact him.. I know they won't tell anything... but they know something for sure.

Regards.

Good security is hard, tedious, and ongoing. a hacker with moderate skills only needs a little bit of skill and luck to catch one mistake and you are compromised. Ross Ulbricht was a genius as well and eventually was doxed.

Posting his own email address on the forum ...

Guy must feel terrible at the moment! He is finally confronted with reality and that will change him forever. Hopefully, he will gain all the learning lessons that can be taken from this. He got what he deserved and kudos to him.

0.01 BTC says the kid does no time for this, but does time for something else down the road.

I agree, A very probable sequence of events. Just saying, we were all young and have done some stupid things. Instead, care to make that 0.01 BTC with Rock-paper-scissors on counterparty? Never enjoyed betting on lives :-)

You and I are not the ones gambling.

Apparently it's the same guy who tried to blackmail Roger Ver for 37 odd Bitcoin:

edit: or this guy is involved/sticking his oar in.

If there's one guy who knows about doxxing, it's Roger Ver.

From the evidence it seems that the hacker knows his real identity. The hacker gained access to Satoshi's "real" gmx email address which then had his satoshin@gmx address as an alias. If this is true the real Satoshi Nakomoto's identity will be soon revealed. We have been able to cross reference the purchase order to a bitcoin talk thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=193129.0 around the exact date so the email looks legitimate.

 Shocked

So the guy who hacked the gmx account also ordered an FPGA.  Nothing on that Cardreaderfactory invoice has anything to do with the creator of bitcoin.

$12,000 in usd to reveal satoshi's real name...apparently

Up to 8 USD already.

Dumbass hacker should have posted two donation adresses:  one to dox, one not to dox.

Hacker is a piece of shit for not respecting a persons privacy.

I'd donate to the hacker if he was willing to commit Seppuku

14 USD
1189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshin@gmx.com is compromised on: September 09, 2014, 03:21:14 AM
I don't know if it's very safe for the hacker to claim that he knows Satoshi's identity...
If you dont know, why bother posting?

Thanks, man.  Thread needed some erudition.

Just want to say I love the concept myself. Why not aim high?  Anyway, when Bitcoin and Alts go mainstream next year, let's just see how well those of us that bought in now have done. I think it is worth the risk.

The question is, how much is it worth the risk?

Whats the risk? Its all backed by invested funds in escrow. So the risk is probably at most 20% since some is going to be used to buy coins, trade, etc.

What the upside potential? Who knows. But its probably a lot more than 20% Wink

Now, Jon, those are wise words.  But don't you think it would be best to let people know you're talking from a marketing perspective, and not a financial one?
1194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: satoshin@gmx.com is compromised on: September 09, 2014, 01:51:17 AM
At least it is clear that the 'I am not Dorian' post was not by Satoshi. That made no sense at all.

How is that clear at all?
The sourceforge account is now known to be compromised. We can assume it to also have been compromised at the time of the Dorian fiasco, lest we think SN has suddenly become sloppy, even though the risks of sloppiness are more apparent now than ever.

Assuming the account was already compromised also helps to explain the 'I am not Dorian' post, which would be nonsensical if written by SN. For if  Mr. Evil was convinced SN was Dorian, Satoshi's saying via sourceforge that he is not Dorian would be totally useless for dissuading Mr. Evil from hurting Dorian. It makes no sense for SN to break his self-imposed silence in order to make a post that simply cannot achieve its apparent objective. Or, if you want, it's like Satoshi asking his enemies to trust him. He wouldn't.

But what if Dr. Evil built a fake town.  Then when the bandits rode in, they'd think it was the real town, but we'd know it was the fake town, but the bandits would think it was the real town.

Satoshi is unhappy with the progress of the bitcointalk.org forum refurbishment with donated funds held by Michael?

Satoshi is concerned with the over-serious tone of BCT, and wanted to lighten things up.

Except what on the face of it could be taken as a serious criminal death threat will probably open up probable cause for a massive expansion in the search for Satoshi by LE ...

I'll short that.

When satoshi walked away, he could have done a little better job of locking the door behind himself.

Hey James, did you want to setup a irc for this ipo? Staff it with mods that can watch it 24.7 this should help you free up your time and allow people to volunteer to answer people's questions.
We did but the IRC peoples are refusing to give us control. So the lack of this very useful thing is due to the IRC staff. I suggest to make some user request to them, I have no time for such things

They are saying that maybe SuperNET is not going to be around for long

I like the IRC and I am using it at times, but if they are feeling that SuperNET is not allowed to have the #SuperNET, then how am I to feel like using them?

Maybe they dont want me to use the IRC anymore? If so, this is quite an effective way, to make an insult like this.

James

P.S. yes I know this is childish of me, but for the  IRC mods to say that they cannot release the #SuperNET to the SuperNET is quite ridiculous and if this is how ridiculous their policy is, then it makes me wonder what other ridiculous things they are doing. Dont you agree?

We think whatever you think.

node-cryptonote-pool code update

I've committed some code to allow miners to connect and to look up stats on web page with aliases. For example, use -u @clintar in your miner instead of the long address, or enter @clintar in to the "Your Stats & Payment History" field.

It is live at cncoin.farm

Is there currently a way to look at blockchain stats? Things like daily transaction volume and historical transaction and usage history? New wallet creation? etc.
I don't know of anything with that much info. Just what chainradar.com has.

Is there anyone in the community capable of coding a blockchain explorer where we can see such stats? I think its very important as a community to be able to see the stats of our growth as we start our marketing efforts. The more we grow the more we can tell people and show people how much we are growing. Smiley

Jon, as soon as you get a BBR whale to donate for community development, you can plan a mktg2009 budget and offer a bounty for the blockchain explorer.

So in addition to your solicitations for help, be sure to post solicitations for BBR.
