The correct HTC for miners should be:

8471.41.0150

Which is:

8471
Automatic data processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, not elsewhere specified or included.

41
Comprising in the same housing at least a central processing unit and an input and output unit, whether or not combined.

50
Other

Also not dutiable, but that doesn't mean that they wont take it up front, and dealing with UPS' post entry department makes SCOTUS decisions look rapid.

That's what I was telling my wife.  It better describes it.  I was also wondering why they had it under 8523.51.00 because it's so vague.

Thank you!!!

Can anyone else who received shipments via UPS from China provide the "Duty Class" number UPS provided in an envelope mailed to you?  I could use it during my dispute with customs.

I just so happen to have one right here from the last couple I've got to pay fees on, and they're 8542.31.0000, listed the same "BITCOIN MINER".  I only got 3 in this shipment, and the fees were $32 ($7 Disbursement fee and $25 Merchandise Processing Fee).

Thank you!!

Here is a previous shipment of 9 x S7's with the Duty Class Code Number: 8523.51.00 Semiconductor media: Solid-state non-volatile storage devices....................... No............. Free  Which see:

Here is a copy of the bill from UPS on that shipment of 9 x S7's with the classification of 8523.51.00.  Notice there was no "Duty Amount" because it was FREE on this shipment.

Here is the code number and what it represents:

This time they want to charge me 2.6% under classification 8543.70.9650:

Which see:

The whole damn thing just pisses me off.  I think someone in customs that day saw "BITCOIN MINER" and was like, "What the hell is that?"  I'll just label it under "Other" and charge 2.6%.

You can bet your ass I'm disputing this with customs.

I say pay it, but then dispute it at the customs agency if you think you shouldnt be paying it.  i mean, could be worse, i have a 330$cad bill for just ONE (canada).  disputing it, but we shall see what that does...

Yes, I'm paying it to avoid the 6% late fee for every 2 weeks it's late.  However, I'm most certainly disputing it.

im confused. why did you get this bill? when i ordered my S5's i dindt get a bill like this....are you in the USA?

Yes, I'm in the USA.  I live in Alabama.

EDIT:  I added another screenshot above with another page of details.

This pisses me off...

I got a bill in today from UPS for $889.63 for the 23 x S7's batch 8 I received on December 22, 2015.  It would have been nice to know this before my purchase.  I'm not using UPS to ship from China anymore.  No consistency at all.  I've had a $17,000+ purchase, $9,000+ purchase and $7,500+ purchase from China using UPS before and never had anything but brokerage charge ranging from $39 to $69.  This time it's $890.00.  This sucks!  I can still pay it no problem.  It's just not appreciated when it comes as a complete surprise.

Hi everyone,

I just thought I would let you know that HomeDepot is having a great deal on the best metal rack in the business.  It has 3 support braces per shelf.  The deal is good up until January 31, 2016 or until supplies last.  Amazon has it for $311.00.  Sam's Club has it for $249.00.  HomeDepot is selling it for $169.99 plus tax.  If you have it shipped to a local store and pick it up there yourself, you will have no cost for shipping.  It will cost you to have it shipped to your house.  Here's the link:  http://www.homedepot.com/p/Gladiator-4-Shelf-73-in-H-x-77-in-W-x-24-in-D-Welded-Steel-Garage-Shelving-Unit-GARS774SZG/204280487

ASICSPACE is a bunch of thieves and liars.  If you're planning to send them any gear to mine with, you might as well send it to me.  At least I will tell you straight up that I will keep all the profits mined with the gear for myself.  Which makes me honest compared to them.

And a concrete building will keep heat in, not dissipate it faster!  Like DUH!!!!!!!

For once, I may agree with you, timk.  LOL

If people required compensation for losses incurred due to poor management in a poor facility and did not get that compensation, this place should not be trusted if it is in the hands of ASICSPACE.  He had his chance and mucked it up.  Plain and simple...
1190  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pics of Huge Hosting Mine Under Construction, (Dec 2015 Update: We've moved) on: January 03, 2016, 01:11:41 AM
Let me be clear...

I do not know all the details of what actually happened at the old place with the high ceilings.  I hate to see LordPaco get pulled into the middle of this by offering his place for someone else to use for hosting.  i'm sure he's getting kickbacks; but still...  I imagine he feels sorry for the guy.  I know ASICSPACE helped him out for a couple of months by hosting his rigs for him while he put his place together.  That's what makes me believe he feels sorry for the guy in some way and trying to help him out after ASICSPACE helped him out.  But that's only because LordPaco is a good fellow.  I just hate to see him allow his reputation to be linked to someone else with a terrible reputation.

He shouldn't feel obligated to help him out if the guy did not see to it people were properly taken care of in terms of any loss incurred from the other place with terrible cooling.  LordPaco, should host rigs himself without involving the other guy.  However, he probably does not want the extra responsibilities that come along with taking care of other peoples hardware.  He has enough to do with his own gear.

I'm curious what LordPaco has to say about the whole matter if he cares to get involved in the forum with it.

1192  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pics of Huge Hosting Mine Under Construction, (Dec 2015 Update: We've moved) on: January 02, 2016, 07:47:44 PM
I never had rigs hosted at the old place.  However, I have communicated a lot in the past with LordPaco.  This is his place...  I know he had ASICSPACE host his gear while he set up his present location that ASICSPACE has gone to now.  It's hard for me to believe LordPaco would allow a crook in his midst.  It sounds like a series of unfortunate events and several miners got caught up in the middle of it.

If someone wants to have them host their gear, they may want to PM LordPaco to confirm.  He's straight up and has helped me out quite a bit in the past.  Just contact LordPaco and I think a lot of things would get cleared up.

That's my two cents.

The cool thing is, with, like 7+ PH/s, even 200+% blocks take, like, a day! LOL
 Smiley

About 16 hours on average for a 100% block at present hash rate and difficulty.  This equals 3 blocks every 2 days or 6 blocks every 4 days.  However, you want to look at it.  Don't let it get you down and out that this block took a while.  It doesn't mean all of them or even most of them will be this way.  Think positive...  Grin

Thank you DMwardjr for letting me know about the alerting tool!  Works like a champ and no more need for me to look every 15mins.  =)

We found another block after 1 Days 21 Hours 39 Minutes ! Approximately 264 %Diff - Found @ 2016-01-02 10:37:03
Block # 391403

Thanks for using CKPoolMonitor

Please be sure to login and verify your apikey and/or BTC address are valid.

ant just hit 6 or 7 in a row, wth Huh

we need 2 a day will be yummy n good enuff but wouldn't mind more

we need 1.478 blocks each day at present hash rate of 7,636 TH/s and present difficulty of 103,880,340,815

OR

3 blocks every 2 days

OR 6 blocks every 4 days to maintain 100% average.

Odd that I have been waiting since 12/24 for an s7 shipped from Denver.
Something needs to give.
Maybe chicken for breakfast.

LOL...  It will arrive soon.  But yeah, holiday shipping has everything out of whack at the moment.
1198  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 02, 2016, 04:52:40 AM
Agreed, its as if they are aggressively overclocked at factory - which is why I think there will be greater failure.  Higher temps, higher voltages = more burnouts.  Summer may be rough for S7's without underclocking.
Out of my 10 batch 8 Units, I initially underclocked 4 to 650.  The hashboard that failed was only running around 65 - maybe 67 at peak, so I had not underclocked it.  I've downclocked them all now to minimize failure.

Sounds like a plan.  The low temperature tonight is 32 degrees fahrenheit.  It's in the 30's now.  I have all of mine back to 700 MHz except for one.  It's at 675 with temps at 62, 59 & 61 on all 3 blades.  The other 3 rigs that has higher temps than others are in mid to upper 50's.  I'm wondering if the one's I have with higher temps are as another member mentioned about different fans installed.  I'm thinking about checking out the fans tomorrow to see if there is a difference.  If there is, I'm replacing the less effective fans with the 5,700 RPM Delta fans I have laying around.  They are extras I have on hand to replace fans in S4's if they were to fail.  I sold all of my S3's, S4's, S5's and SP20's.  Well, I still have one S5 remaining.
1199  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: January 02, 2016, 03:56:07 AM
I noticed these run much warmer than the previouis batches.  Obviously due to the 700mhz.  I had underclocked a few units that were running hotter than others.  This unit was left at default 700mhz.  I've since set all units to 650 frequency to cool them down a bit (lower to mid 60c's)  In contrast to prior batches these are inferior.  I doubt they will have close to the lifespan the others will given the 700 frequencies. Sad

Well, the others were factory clocked at 550, 600 and 625.  I say the batch 8 was already over clocked at the factory to 700 and should be at 600 like the batch 6 @ 4.05 TH/s with 135 chips.  I have since under clocked the 3 of mine that run hotter than the others to 650.  I'm thinking about lowering them to 600 [Especially, when summer time arrives] for the longevity for the rigs.

Hmm, but overclocking or downclocking the rig should change nothing on its longevity. It should be merely at what heat they are being run at. Its possible than when the rig show for say 70c, some component is being stressed at 150c+. So lowering the heat one way or another is required to avoid failure.

I really don't know what cause so much hardware failure but afaik if you keep them cool, the clock changes nothing.

That's the main thing I'm referring to... during the warmer wether.  I had to under clock 4 x S7's batch 8 last week with it 72 to 75 degrees outside because they were getting close to 80 Celcius.  It's not issue when it's in the low 50's or below outside.

Part of this had to do with their placement and the lack of grilles in the other door for air flow.  I'm putting 4 new grilles in the door next to the door that already has grilles this weekend.

In the photo below you will see the door on the right has grilles and the door on the left does not.  The rigs on all shelves that are closer to the door without grilles are warmer because heat manages to ricochet off the door without grilles and is sucked into the rigs closest to it.  Once grilles are installed in the other door, the exhaust fan will suck cool air in through those doors and reduce ricocheting into the rigs next to that door.

This mining closet is about to be totally reorganized during the power upgrade I'm getting sometime within the next 3 to 4 weeks.  The IBM 2880 PSU's will be laying flat with a wire shelf resting on top of them.  THEN, I will have the S7's sitting on top of the wire shelf that is on top of the 2880 PSU's.  This way, I can easily have 6 x S7's in front of each grill with a total of 12 x S7's on each of 5 shelves.  So, I will have some work to do when I install 14 more 30 amp outlets and reorganizing the shelves on the rack.  As well as installing 4 x new grilles in the other door.  There are 14 more S7's sitting in another closet waiting for power upgrade.

There are 5 shelves with 4 x S7's on each shelf at the moment.  You cannot see the bottom shelf in this photo.  You can see one S7 without PCI-e cords on a shelf sitting up against another working S7 to prevent warm air from ricocheting off the door into the working S7.  The temperature reduced by 4 degrees Celsius when I placed that rig next to it.

https://i.imgur.com/dW6vj9Y.jpg

Example of the wire shelf that will sit on top of 6 x IBM 2880's then 12 x S7's will sit on top of the wire shelf that is resting on top of the 2880 PSU's:  [By the way, I'm remodeling my home.  So, ignore the speckling on the wall and lack of silicon on the base molding with new paint.  That is new flooring I've installed.

https://i.imgur.com/99pdY0a.jpg

You see the 2880 and 2980 PSU's will have no problem with air flow.  The wire shelving resting on top of them will not impede air flow.

I had a batch 2 and it is now at my buddies office.

My testing on the psus with Avalon sixes will still work since the
Loads placed on the 2880, 2980, 4000 dual 2000 will be indentical.

One Avalon six and two Avalon sixes.  Volts will be as close as possible to 12.2 volts.

SweeeeeeeeeT   Grin

Thank you very much for taking the time to do this, Phillip.

Were you also planning to get the new S7 batch 8 or 9?  I'm curious if it's efficiency would be the same as batch 6 if the batch 8 or 9 were under clocked from 700 MHz to 600 MHz?  It may be I would not have to be concerned with under clocking if the hash rate difference of 700 GH/s pays for the extra 100 watts consumed from the higher clock of 700 MHz in batch 8 & 9.  If the difference of the 700 GH/s more than pays for the extra power consumed to make extra profit, it is worth it.  If they simply offset, it would be better to under clock to try to increase the longevity of the rig.

I got 4 batch 8 but they were purchased for a friend.

I am a bit annoyed with bitmaintech  I will try to make no purchase from them for myself as  I feel they owe me about ½ a btc in compensation.  I got a poor batch 1 that only hashed around 4500gh and they were late on a batch two shipment.  So I will  not buy from them for personal ownership  until they send me some type of compensation.
They just blow me off at this point when I mention  this which I have mentioned to them in more then 6 or 7 emails.
So if someone wants ask me to help them order an s-7 I do. But I do not order for myself anymore.

 I ordered 9 s-7's direct 2 for me and 7 for others. I ordered an hashnest s-7 and I ordered a lee group s-7.
So that is 11 s-7's  at this moment I have 1 s-7 at my buddies office and 1 s-7 mining in China with lee's group
I have 2 avalon sixes in house and most likely I will order at least one more avalon 6.
Since I have no hope of bitmaintech giving me coupons or compensation any that I order from them will be for friends not myself.
Sad since I have purchased more then 40k in gear from them.

I have to say one thing the batch 2 rated at freq 575 has been the best miner I ever purchased from them  it will go as high as freq 637 and 5150 gh.

I have it at my friends office down clocked to freq 500 and 4000gh (need to keep it quiet) Since I pay 2.66 cents a kwatt that one will make money.

Sorry to hear that.  I'm hoping my RMA doesn't take very long with bitmain.  I recently sent back 3 blades for replacement.  I'm hoping they get them some time next week and send the new one's back to me in the mail before next week is over.  I hate the waiting game.

By the way, how do you think the Avalon 6 will handle the heat this summer?  Did the firmware update come out yet that's supposed to do something to reduce the heat?
