It went up 30x in the space of a few weeks. If you weren't expecting a vast crash, and this isn't it yet, then expect some sadness in the future.

30x Huh its like 6x rise in about 10 weeks....see the charts

I seem to recall it was 300 satoshis very briefly in the recent past because I thought 'hmm. I should really buy more'. I think that was Feb or so.

The recent price peak was over 9000. I did not buy more.

11803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: At what price will you sell your BTC, and what will you buy? on: May 10, 2017, 03:46:41 PM
I don't plan to ever sell. As the old adage goes by the time your target is reached the chances are there'll be no need to swap it for another currency any more.

These people planning on getting rid at 2k or 3k strike me as nuts. The world surrounding Bitcoin is still pretty messy - no scaling, usual exchange crap, retailers dropping it, ever higher fees, yet it's still on the rise.

10k seems to be the most regular magic figure. Again, unless you have several hundred that's not going to change your life in many parts of the world and it'll still be in the warming up stage.
11804  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 10, 2017, 02:08:23 PM
Coinbase has become such an altcoin whore now.

They be in it to make money. They have no ideological duties. If they could legally make money by selling photographs of me on the toilet giving a friendly wave then they'd do it. I'd undercut them though.
11805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2017, 11:04:51 PM
just in a bull market.  Wink

Indeed. I remember well the cries of 'cheap coins' in 2014 that gradually dwindled to nothing with ever decreasing enthusiasm. But everyone was alright in the end if they'd clung to their bags tightly.
11806  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 09, 2017, 10:59:39 PM
So how do we go about raising this with the people who could make it happen? They don't seem to pop up in here all that often, and perhaps they're so up to their ears in playing the long game that they may not be inclined to pursue it.
11807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can we admit segwit SF is never going to get 95% approval? on: May 09, 2017, 10:57:42 PM
95% is pure pie in the sky. There are probably enough miners who died while wiring something up but left the machines running to prevent it from happening. Then there are these people still signalling for 8mb blocks when I can barely remember anything about it.

Other approaches will be needed and at some point everyone's going to be incentivised to find some common ground. I've no idea what it'll look like though.
11808  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I sell my BTC or buy more? on: May 09, 2017, 10:43:57 PM
I'm not interested to selling but I can not afford to buy bitcoin because the price is very high as it is now. Way to make my bitcoin to grow is by trading it with altcoin.

You can't afford it? You can buy $5 worth. Would you feel differently if it was priced in bits?

Obviously there's far more potential profit in alts if you get it right. Works the other way too.
11809  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2017, 08:54:11 PM
I thought the idea was the higher the number, the milder the dumps? It doesn't seem to be making the slightest difference percentage wise. Still, I don't really care. As long as it stays above $666 I'll be content enough.
11810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 09, 2017, 08:06:29 PM
Yes, Trezor support would be amazing!

It's gotten to a point where one stake or supernode is worth several hundred thousand dollars. Hardware wallet support is a pressing issue.

At this point, NEM should use community funds to develop its own hardware wallet.

No, it's good to use Community Funds to develop integration in existing Hardwallet. Everyone who already has one doesn't want to buy a new one just for NEM.

How bout using the community funds to develop NEM own propietary hardware wallet, 50% of profits from sales to developers and 50% towards angel investors.

Just an idea.

I highly approve of either plan. It would be nice to see the community fund deliver an unassailable benefit to all. I shudder to think how certain XEMs are being stored right now.

A hardware wallet ready to roll adds extra real value to the entire system.
11811  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the right number of BTC to own in order to become rich in 10 years?? on: May 09, 2017, 08:03:28 PM
You're not a true Bitcoiner if you keep looking at USD and you treat BTC like a way to obtain USD.

It's the most immediate and convenient way of measuring Bitcoin's buying power. I don't have any plans to return to fiat, but if I feel like spending BTC then I want to know what I can get for what equivalent amount.
11812  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin UP = Altcoin DOWN on: May 09, 2017, 07:58:53 PM
Thanks for all the replies.

I bought some XRP and XLM and they were doing really well, but it seems all the market cap gains flowed out and into BTC.

If you do the exact opposite of what your emotions are telling you to do, you're very likely to come out with a mountain more money.

When you're worried about missing the train, the truly successful traders have already sold most of what they have. They'll buy it back off you for far less when you've lost hope.
11813  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Gay "Recruitment" on: May 09, 2017, 06:29:13 PM
I do not want my children to become gay, so I'm also against advertising homosexuality. If they live at home and do not tell anyone about it, then this is normal.

Have you ever spoken to a gay personage? Crazily enough, you're made that way, not conditioned. I know a few insanely butch men who had kids who were about as gay as humanly possible.
11814  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2017, 06:21:22 PM
On this note I'd like to say when people talk about $10k, $100k per coin etc I worry and expect a big correction. I am sorry for saying this but we all know it can happen at anytime and it's more than likely coming soon when we least expect it.

People were saying such things when the rest of the world wouldn't piss on it if it was on fire. There've always been people who were convinced about those prices no matter how dire Bitcoin looked and they weren't shy about bellowing it.
11815  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is the right number of BTC to own in order to become rich in 10 years?? on: May 09, 2017, 06:15:16 PM
First world, I'd venture to say $10 million is rich. $3-4 million would have you wanting for nothing without going bonkers for the rest of your life.

I will hazard a guess that you'd need a minimum of 2-300 BTC just to be sure if Bitcoin properly thrives. That could be insane overkill or still not enough, but that's what I'd be aiming for.
11816  Economy / Exchanges / Re: POLONIEX - NO WITHDRAWALS, TAKE CARE on: May 09, 2017, 03:51:42 AM
So why is support taking so long to respond ? 5 days? 8 days? People's money are being held hostage on the exchange?
I hope you're right man, I really do....

I'm not sure but I think it's safe to assume that no exchange ever seems to invest in enough staff. The staff that are there must be under insane pressure.
11817  Economy / Exchanges / Re: POLONIEX - NO WITHDRAWALS, TAKE CARE on: May 09, 2017, 03:44:13 AM
There is a run on Polo.  Did you get yours out?

Cut the FUD you brat.

So you run the world's biggest exchange.

Do you

A - Run with everyone's money and spend the rest of your life on the run and probably unable to spend the coins.

B - Continue to coin it forever and undergo regular Ddosing because you're such a juicy target?

I think it could well be a B.

Here's some stats.

2015 ~$90,000/24hrs - ~800 users online
2016 ~$7,000,000/24hrs - ~4k users online
Yesterday > $1,000,000,000/24hrs - ~40k users online

Most services are going to buckle with such an explosion.
11818  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 09, 2017, 03:40:55 AM
So much manipulation is happening with alt exchangers... hopefully I left the boat 2 days ago, and multiplied by 7 my BTC stash Wink

I could've cashed in and eventually bought back humongously on this run with alts, but I pure and simply do not trust any alt exchange with the amounts in question. That's being borne out nicely right now.
11819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Survival Guide: Most Overpumped Altcoins on: May 09, 2017, 03:34:04 AM
Why the hell would you bother surviving an alt crash by buying even more alts? Knackered old Bitcoin is looking rather buoyant right now.
11820  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) on: May 09, 2017, 03:25:53 AM
Absolutely no one doesn't seem to give a shit about NEM.

Why on earth is it worth 1 billion?

Because it's being pumped like everything else.

However you might be wrong about shits being given. The difference is that almost all shits are taking place in Asia, not the West. They have fiat trading pairs, are building business relationships and most of the community action happens there too.

If you're English speaking only you'd be right to consider it a relative obscurity.
