121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is deepOnion dodgy? on: October 26, 2017, 04:21:39 PM
ye - i registered a few weeks ago hoping to get on the airdrop obviously. Then they made the criteria to get airdrop impossible basically for new members to get anything.

The early adopters in their forum treat the project with reverence and evangelical style posting - bit dodgy tbh lol  Wink

deepOnion = "For the greater good..."

123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is deepOnion dodgy? on: October 26, 2017, 03:44:19 PM
Something is a little fishy with this coin in my opinion - new members need to buy in? A select few now have most of the tokens in their hands.

New members who have bought in will receive very little from the airdrop compared to the original larger holders who will continue to receive loads because they were in first. I think the airdrop program after the rule change now rewards the larger wallets disproportionately.

A ponzi by definition needs more new members to buy in to keep the charade going so that older members can cash out.

Now I'm not saying deeponion IS a ponzi but it appears to be sailing damn close to the wind.

Any thoughts folks?

Important announcement regarding future airdrop distribution please read
https://deeponion.org/community/threads/new-coming-airdrop-rules.5105/

The new concept sound really cool. IMO the new rules are really eliminating the cheating. 1 account with 1000 or 10 with 100, you will get the same.

And it's clever about the 90% rule. It's eliminated, but if you want more ONIONS - you need to HOLD Cheesy

What about the registered before date? - Is it ok for people registered before 1st september to take part and not those after?

Just a quick question - you raised the bar by making it 100 onions to participate right? So everyone before new members qualifies - but you didn't change the join by date? - how is that going to boost membership apart from the old guard that are hoarding the onions?

Is there an ETA on the change of rules for the airdrops? I hope to get involved more but the airdrops seem elusive at the moment for many on the forums at deepOnion and on here.

I would much rather join this airdrop program than some of the e-insert-acronym-here coins which just look like pump and dump schemes.

Looking forward to seeing the new changes for deeponion - i will be watching the official forum and trying to help where possible and get more involved. I hope the earlier poster who mentioned $10 an onion is right lol - that would be amazing.

Hey mate - head over to https://whattomine.com/ and put your card in (1060).

The website shows you what your hash rate and power consumption is for loads of different algorithms.

Seriously try it - I have a 6Gb 1060 zotac btw.

Good luck!

Hey all

Recently I had to do a fresh install of windows - i backed up my wallets to the cloud.

However I have just downloaded the wallet and let it fully sync and then I imported my back up .dat file but I now have cancelled transactions?

Basically my full balance from mining and all of those transactions have been cancelled ;((

Can anyone please take the time to explain wtf is going and any advice is much appreciated.

It wont hurt.

133  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin courses or self-studying the subject? on: October 20, 2017, 11:01:09 AM
I doubt there are taught courses on bitcoin/cryptocurrency - but in the future you never know as it becomes more popular. There is a coding and implementation side to the blockchain.

It is self-study at the moment but using google there is wealth of information out there.

Check out ethereum.org and you can see how to code onto the blockchain is a good start for most people.

Good luck.

Why make fun of coins? The airdrop cost nothing and you don't have to buy anything either.

Obviously be careful where you choose to invest but lets see what happens - I got the airdrop and I hope the price gets pumped right up Wink
135  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Education in Cryptocurrency on: October 19, 2017, 11:29:36 AM
It is being noticed - I am currently doing a masters degree and in one of the slides it had cryptocurrency lol - I was like wtf  Grin

So it will become more mainstream where terms like crypto and fintech wont be alien to as many people any more.

This is just something I think will happen of course and the opposite will probably occur lol  Undecided Undecided

136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: newbie looking for best scenario for investment. on: October 19, 2017, 12:16:16 AM
Personally if a I had a few grand to spread about I would look at coinmarketcap.com and just throw my cash into the coins that took my fancy.

BTC, LTC and ETH are top dogs - you cant go wrong  really by buying into those.

I would also look for cheaper coins and look to broaden my portfolio so that I have a spread of investment.

Hope this helps.

I get up in the morning - splash water on my face - then run round the block three times - come back and sit at my computer hoping that my picks have went up Wink

139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which coin can go to $100 next year? on: October 18, 2017, 02:43:32 PM
Any idea of bytecoin?

I've actually been mining this coin - easy to mine with average graphics card and is pennies to buy - whether buying is wise i can't say but mining is free - you can mine 400 a day with nvidia 1060.

Hope this helps mate.
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which coin can go to $100 next year? on: October 18, 2017, 02:42:05 PM
It is a gamble at the end of the day if you invest. Look for coins that add good functionality and have a solid development team - look for coins that are relatively cheap as well.

Never invest more than you can afford to lose - coins can be worth $10 today and $2 tomorrow - just be careful.

Investing in ethereum, litecoin or ethereum isnt a bad idea for example because they have been around for ages.

Good luck.
