121  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MinerSource Order of Prospero X3 finally arrived on: October 22, 2014, 10:07:41 PM
They are running in a rack cabinet, with a PDU.  If they did actually catch fire, there is nothing combustible near them.  The one that shorted out, did that when I first plugged it in, not after.  So far I've got 5 units working from batch 1 (with the extra capaciters), 2 from the next batch without the extra capaciters.

I test fitted a REAL PSU into them made by Delta DPS-1520AB A -- but it's the wrong connector. So i'm off to hunt for a PSU the same size with the right connector without having to rig something up.

Power supply from a Sun computer, made by ASTEC

Power supply included with X3 made by sunshine electric aka aplus power supply or something like that

123  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MinerSource Order of Prospero X3 finally arrived on: October 22, 2014, 12:36:54 AM
The power supply is the sunshine ap188, has a CE logo on the sticker, for what it's worth.

Which CE mark?

Real one or the fake China one:

And shouldn't a PSU in the US have FCC certification?

Ut oh - I'll have to double check that.  I think though it was the china export one.  Meaning it just said CE no extra half filled circles

It seems as though these two were part of a later batch - the main backplane even being dated in july 2014.  The allegedly not needed green capaciters were never installed.  These are missing the lcd screen - but the circuit that drives the machine appears to be the same.  The power supply is the sunshine ap188, has a CE logo on the sticker, for what it's worth.

Plugged them booted them up - went to the Prospero control panel and saw that they were mining for minersource.net at btcguild.

Checked the hash history and they were run for exactly 1 hour the week before.

Wow, now they're shipping incomplete miners?

All Further X1/X3s Shipped from Friday 8/1/14 now include the LCD Screen!

Does anyone have the old power supply? Are these any different?

Well these ones have a metal plate that the LCD screen would mount to. The first batch ones with a board v4.0 instead of v4.1 did come with an lcd - but they were second hand.

they  might want to reach out to megabigpower or some other company that wants all of it.  If you could put several of these in a case - then surely there should be same way to cut the price of the BOM down so that it makes sense.

Indeed whats the psu situation on these?

The ones I have all have a sunshine ap188 PSU with a max output of 112amps at 12v.  1 sparked when I plugged it in and now reads fault, but the rest have worked fine so far for me.  I won't run them at home though.

Update: Needed a replacement hash card - contacted MS and they are shipping them out, I just have to send the dead cards back to them.  The cards slide out after you undo the screws, it's quick and easy.  Additionally since the bulk of the machine is the case, controller, psu, heatsinks and fans, I think there is a strong possibility to upgrade them if someone were to make a hash board that could be slid into the machine.

5 running on a 208v 30amp pdu draws 25.4 amps.  Someone else can do the math.

why not just rent rigs on any of the sites out there?  How would you remote into say an s3 miner and install something?

132  Economy / Services / Re: WHO CAN SETUP A POOL FOR ME? on: October 19, 2014, 09:16:57 PM
Thx but I want to host with someone like digitalocean
I have a DigitalOcean droplet that runs a p2pool node.  I've also setup CoiniumServ pool previously to play around with it (setup an EarthCoin pool).  It's pretty straightforward to do.

If you're going to run a pool, you might want to learn how to do it, so you'll know how to address issues if and when they come up.

Agree - if you want to run the pool - it's best you have knowledge enough to set it up and as well as keep it running and secured.
133  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: October 19, 2014, 01:01:04 AM
out of the 6 x3 I have in hand - (note each is actually only 1TH per 3U), 4 are running fine, one doesn't see all the chips and one has a power supply that sparked and pop when first plugged in and now reads the fault/alarm light.  None of these are the ones that I pre-ordered from minersource --- that one still hasn't been received -- and one of the alleged co-foundered of minersource I found out left at the start of october.  What a bunch of crap this has been.

Fortunately BlackArrow claimed that if they released late then they would send additional hardware to compensate for the late release based on the current market.  So the good news is - every 1 x3 (2TH) should  get an extra 10 or 12 TH received according to their original agreements.  Or they should just man up, hike up the skirt, grab the chestnuts, liquidate and refund what's left.  It's clear that Black Arrow screwed the pooch on this one and might as well run for the hills.

I think you've got too much tied up into power supplies for this to make sense for me.  If you want to split stuff apart, let me know.  I'm interested in the hardware.  power supplies are a dime a dozen when you use the server ones.

with 20 at least you get them on a pallet and save on freight.

I'll start it off - 4 BTC and I'll cover shipping.  No shelves needed.  The ant s1's will end up being undervolted and require a mess of cables.  I've never gotten a rocketbox to work very well - so other than being paper weights, I'm not very aware of their value.

I'd go .5 btc and cover shipping UPS.
