With only 21 pool shares, that doesn't count. Show something that can run 24 hrs at that output.
Like I said above you cant realistically achieve that with any card that exists. You might be able to get 480 consistently (maybe) if you water cool your 5870.

Well he did seem to get past 500mh/s but i really doubt it was stable considering he is at stock voltage.
I highly doubt any card can stably get to 500. I was surprised when I found that. I went to that thread expecting about 480. The only card that can get there would be the 5870 though.

Title says it all really.
Broke 500MH/s. /end thread

Now that's awesome cryptomint :-) I wish my card was that easy to mod.Are 5870s easy to get cheaply and to mod (as in clock settings) like you've done? a 5870 beating my HD6950?interesting. I guess I was wrong on the 5870's abilities. It is true that you learn something new everyday.
5870's are not easy to get cheaply. $200 is considered by some a low ball request even though that price is more then reasonable. Expect people to want up to $240.

My 5870s get 465 Mh/s running stock voltage, no modifications to the firmware. Running @ 1030/300. ~60C temp
I could push them a little more if I wanted to.
How's that for a 5870? :-)
If you have a reference 5870 they achieve that pretty easily.

Well, because he has one miner working 5.6 Ghash on Deepbit alone:
I always wondered how much he had. I knew he probably had a sizable investment but no specifics. In all reality 5.6 ghash is only about 3-4 machines worth so its not like he has invested 10's of thousands.

not posible
maximun demand on the 6990 is 294W per card. and u still need the power for the cpu/ram/mobo
you could do it with 2 psus. one 850w for mobo+2gpus and one 650w for the other 2gpus. this way u can save arround 50 bucks.
You do realize he said 6950 not 6990 right? A 6950 requires 158 watts according to this website: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-6950-6970-review/11Seems possible as long as you get a good power supply.

The price is at what I believe is the low end value for btc. The last time it went this low it jumped back to $11 very quickly. My hope is I can catch it then and sell when its higher. My window of opportunity diminishes if I have to go from paypal to my bank account then to dwolla to mtgox. Plus how do I know the person wont do a buy back on me? If you say they should do it as a gift then it no different then if they paid me in bitcoins.
While he is new and doesn't really have proof other then the fact that he owns the cards all of his points are valid. I'm not interested in buying anything today but I'd like to point out that people have bought with less evidence before and were perfectly fine.

I'm sorry I should have been more specific. Bitcoins hardware section. Here the actual link to the thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40766.0 looks like he updated there was 3 links earlier. As for how he found it himself I have no idea but you can pm him.

How did you find that link? When I look under ATI 6000 series it doesnt show any 6990.
All of 6990 cards that were in stock today were posted in the hardware section. I saw 3 different cards on sale like 6 hours ago.

Here's a FRESH Idea: How about a Raffle where each ticket is 10 BTC and you are only selling 20 tickets total....LMAO
No need to be rude. I personally like the idea. Who cares if he gets a better profit if you win you get a better price. Seems pretty logical to me.

I should read through the entire thread before replying Its all goooood

I read the single review for the 5970 on Newegg and it had the same sentiment, so I think it might not be such a great card after all.
The resale value definitely makes a lot of sense. How many of us are buying to resell, though? I would think that most everybody here is buying a 6990 for the purpose of mining.
If I had the cash I'd buy it purely for the resale value.
|
|
|
I gotta ask, what's the point of buying one of these for $729 when Newegg has the 5970 card listed at $499? They both top out right about the same place in terms of hash rate. Is the 6990 less of a power draw? Still, the $230 difference in price is pretty significant.
Newegg is oos on 5970's. The resale for a 6990 is better you can expect at least 800-850 if you sell in this forums marketplace. This has a warranty and I believe they are more reliable. Those are the reason I came up with there could be more.

It may be a joke, but on deepbit, someone has a mining team: 'AMD-7995-Prototype' with a user 'Quad-Core-GPU' hashing at around 4GHashes.... Hmmmm....
This is why I'm not so sure everyone buying up those 5970's and 6990's the last few days at $500+ knew that these were (in theory) just right around the corner... I remember hearing most of the top end 7xxx cards wont even come out till q1 so there's still a long time to go before the high end cards get here.

|
|
For future reference pci to pcie is not cost effective. At the prices your paying for the converter your better off with a better mobo.
|
|
|
what would the estimated hash rate level be?
I thought the general rule of thumb is (stream processors/4) = hash rate in MH/s, more or less. If that's true 6000+ = 1,500+ megahash D: That would definitely change mining. Edit: CanaryInTheMine get out of my mind

Sapphire one is oos already.
