121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLO] Florin 0.8.7.4 | The original transaction message coin on: April 18, 2015, 07:03:02 AM
@blocktechceo @metacoin

Can you explain how the exchange will happen.  There was something said about being able to buy Florincoin with Bitcoin directly in the Alexandria wallet.  How does this work?  Shapeshift.io?  APIs?
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FLO] Florin 0.8.7.4 | The original transaction message coin on: April 18, 2015, 12:51:53 AM

You also are replacing a free add supported service... with pay-as-you go = may be some initial resistance.

Content can be accessed for free, if the person that is paying to put the content into the Florin Blockchain wants it accessed for free.  The fee system does not require a fee, and can even simply allow for suggested donations.

Watch the video more closely.

BTW, can we just call the Florincoin blockchain the "Flockchain" ?  Grin

Quick question: Once this is hooked up with BitTorrent, will this really be possible to use without a central service?  ie: videos can be shared and streamed P2P with a torrent link and never require any hosting

It looks like the current Alexandria wallet is custom made HTML wallet and synchronizes with the Florin blockchain.  So, this app currently requires no central servers whatsoever to function?

This is very interesting, thanks for sharing.

Yes, the whole point is that it works without any servers. The lookup info that gets stored in the blockchain is simply the torrent hash. Right now, the client finds the file in the DHT using this hash - pretty soon we'll be adding some alexandria-specific torrent trackers to make peer discovery happen faster, so at that point there will be "servers" involved to an extent, but they wouldn't be required, just beneficial.

And yes, the app is an HTML and JS front end, with a python and go backend, compiled into a standalone app with Node Webkit. And yes, it syncs with the florincoin wallet, which needs to be running as well. Later in our dev plan we'll be integrating the wallet itself into the Alexandria app so that users dont need to run the separate Florincoin-QT wallet as well.

I've been waiting for someone to build "Pirate Bay on a Blockchain"...
But this needs to breakout in the "torrent community" as opposed to the "crypto community"...
Get an article on TorrentFreak and promote on file-sharing forums.

There is ongoing Total War on the torrent space from rich, fat Hollywood lawyers...
(In spite of the fact that Hollywood has > $10 billion in revenues versus about $200 million for all torrent sites)...
Build a toolkit so any torrent site can move quickly (in days) to Alexandria... as opposed to shutting down.

You also are replacing a free add supported service... with pay-as-you go = may be some initial resistance.

Yep, this is a pretty radical concept and has some pretty crazy applications such as what you speak of.

This is the advantage of using Florincoin actually.  This way Blocktech has no financial connection to the network and can build the network without fear of the financial/legal issues related to token issuance and Torrent

Bravo.

Thanks for your quick answers!

First off, if you are in San Diego, you have company here in North County Smiley

One more question for you Devon. Is Florincoin going to remain the defacto cryptocurrency for this project?

If so, Florincoin is likely the most undervalued cryptocurrency in history of cryptos.  I believe with an increasing market cap for FLO, it will be much easier to crowd-fund.

Cheers, thanks

This is kind of funny, but FLO is traded on Cryptsy in the LTC markets: https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/FLO_LTC This needs to be added to the BTC markets

Interesting stuff happening with Florincoin, I wonder how this development on top of FLO blockchain will affect it's value in the next few months

NICE WORK NOTT!

Thank you for your input and inspiration!!!

We are just getting started when it comes to designs.  We have professional designers thanks to KryptoKash, don't worry, like Videlicet said, we are going to get this right and make sure we have an extraordinary image that accompany an extraordinary protocol and business Grin

The top one looks great.  I like these colors much better.  The designs are getting better and better

Anyone know where i can get the windows wallet please

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=657601.0#post_Downloads

It takes a long time to sync this wallet version 1.0.2, it should finish overnight or get pretty close.  I just did a withdrawal from Bittrex and it came in quick  Grin

The new release that is due sometime soon with re-brand to Nexus Niro is 1.0.3 and will sync much faster.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) -> [Niro] Nexus Economy - Pure SHA3 - CPU/GPU + PoS on: April 16, 2015, 05:22:58 AM
CSD charts looking good.  Nice stable price increase.  We are definitely going to reach a higher plateau soon.  Thanks for all your hard work on getting the GPU miners working for ATI and NVIDIA BitSlapper.

I know Videlicet and KryptoKash are hard at work making this re-brand come together.  Awesome stuff guys.  Keep up the good work.   Cool

I definitely think we will need two different logos.  I really like the idea of emphasizing the X in Nexus, and also emphasizing the N...

I have an idea but I can't design it.  It would be to make an N using bubbles and lines.  kinda like this:

Maybe we could combine some of the ideas and concepts

134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) -> [Niro] Nexus Economy - Pure SHA3 - CPU/GPU + PoS on: April 15, 2015, 10:13:35 PM
I'd say 100k is a decent prime to be able to handle 30k coins, 1M to handle 300k, and so on.

We are growing the good ole' natural way, slow and steady  Wink
So the way I see it, there is no if, only when.

Thank You,
Viz.

Then we will need to achieve at least 3000 satoshis Smiley

Hi Cest Ballot, those are nice designs.  I still lean a little towards something that can embody the spirit of interconnection.

I love logo design contests because they help to bring ideas together.  We are moving in a good direction with both.

We will also need something just for the N as you show.

By the way, just purchased nexusniro.com Wink
I'm thinking in the future, maybe we could buy nexus.com so we could have domain structure:

trust.nexus.com
niro.nexus.com
union.nexus.com
tech.nexus.com
platform.nexus.com

Thank You,
Viz.

The market capitalization for Niro/CSD will need to be in the millions of dollars... do you think we will achieve that?

Got your pm's .

I will have the CUDA beta test ready by tonight or tomorrow night.

I'm doing some last minute cleanup.

I will pm you back on Coin Shield Talk with the link when it's ready!

Alright, this show is finally getting started!

Nexus Niro here we come!

This will be really excellent to have the GPU pool and CPU pool accessible for fair mining for everyone no matter what your hardware Grin

And then the PoS channel coming along with Niro 1.0.3 Release... the white-paper... disclosure of company info and developer identities...

This is gonna be excellent... this project is legit!

Np. Good luck.

BTW, here's a great article worth reading CSD/NIRO fans: http://thethug.life/no-blockchain-for-you/

Can you explore the old Acronis image and pull your wallet.dat file from it?

Do you have any other backups of your wallet.dat anywhere?

I have seen people restore wallets in the past using a flag on various Bitcoin/altcoin wallets: -salvagewallet and -repairwallet

Can you try to run the coinshield-qt.exe -salvagewallet?

This means we are almost ready for GPU pool!  Smiley

Thank You,
Viz.

This is really good news
