122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will bitcoins be illegalized in 2013? on: January 09, 2013, 07:21:41 PM
The forums are just one place BTC are used. For one, gambling here is illegal for the majority of the site, and that's one of the most profitable areas. Illegal gambling, drugs, guns, stolen items, hitmen (not for sure on this), and illegal services are all examples of what Bitcoins are used for. If you go to the Deepweb, the only currency people take are BTC. It's only common sense that a payment method that can be used like BTC is, and stay completely anonymous, would be used for illegal activity, right?
123  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If you're thinking buying mining hardware, read this first on: January 09, 2013, 06:25:12 PM
It'll be my money that I've worked for during the summer, and I'll be using the power at our house so I won't be stealing anything. By mining software I meant the software I need to buy in order to start mining. I guess it's to early to start speculating as I can see how much the bitcoin world has changed in the last 6 months. Thanks for the information.
124  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: [2,979,637]Difficulty Discussion Thread [TRENDING ↑ ↑ ↑] on: January 09, 2013, 06:19:24 PM
Pools can consist of thousands of different users, and those users may have multiple miners connected.

How long it takes to mine 1 BTC depends on your setup. My setup puts out about 3200 Mhash/s at the current difficulty I mine one bitcoin approximately every 2 days.

To check how much you would make at different hashrates, go here: http://www.alloscomp.com/bitcoin/calculator

Thanks for the info. How much did your hash-rate cost, or basically your set-up to acquire 1BTC per day. I'll be investing in 7 months (I know a really long time away) but I kind of want to get an idea of what mining is right now.

What do you think the top notch/most expensive set-ups could make you per day on one computer?

I'll have 5-6 computers and free power.

Does anyone know the normal length you have to mine in order to acquire 1 BTC. Also, how many computer's does a "pool" usually consist of? Like 20+, or below 5?
127  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: If you're thinking buying mining hardware, read this first on: January 09, 2013, 03:26:08 PM
I have an idea that I want to pursue, but I have no idea if it will be profitable at all. I really need some opinions on the matter.

Alright, so this summer I'll be heading to my grandma's for the whole summer, where I'll be working making about $15,000 the entire summer. When I go back North for the school year, my mom's a teacher so I'll have free power. I'm looking to invest about $6000 in computer software, and upgrade to the fastest internet speeds at my location ($175/month). So my only cost monthly would be about $70 for the internet bill (my mom would cover the rest). Would this be a good idea, I know profitability is decreasing and difficulty is increasing, but I think I can make this work since I'm paying minimal bills every month.

Here's cliff notes on what I want to do

1) Go to my grandmas this summer, make $15,000

2) Invest $6,000 in mining software and head back North

3) Have however many computers set-up, running 24/7 (Free-power)

4) Paying around $75 /month for internet

Would this be a good idea? Would I be able to create my own pool with just my own computers?

Lost $100 playing blackjack  Cry

My highest bet was 2500 chips, but I lost 4-Q-9 to J-9

Second highest was about 1800-2000 - lost K-5-3 to Q-10

Highest win was 950 - K-J to Bust

I did win a bunch of 300's, and some 600's. I usually never went above 150 though.

I can definitely say the cards play different at different times of the day

My last buy-in was $25 - first two hands house got a blackjack, and I got two blackjacks, which were tied with BJ's from the house

The houses ratio of Ace/Q/K/J/10 was around 4:1 for the card the face-up card

All in all, GG BitZino. I might be back sometime to play some more Blackjack.

Edit: Is it possible to see my win:loss ratio?

131  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by Bitexchange [265 GBP] [~30btc] on: January 08, 2013, 04:17:29 PM
You should always do these types of trades in increments. It would of saved you a lot of stress and anxiety. Live and learn. No need to dwell on it, what's done is done, the more you think of it the worse you'll feel.

How much was scammed? If you can get his IP from anywhere, you'll probably have enough information to track him down via the local police station and his local ISP.

139  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Open a crate, get programming coupons. (~11 btc value) Free to play. on: January 07, 2013, 05:32:59 PM
Are you able to make scripts? Like bots that do processes for you. If you can do a web layout too, I'd like to buy one of those off you. Just one page with a chat box, and some user-interface. How much would that run me?
140  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Circle of Trust [Game/experiment] on: January 07, 2013, 05:28:51 PM
Maybe some of the followers of this thread already feed some scammer account to jump in when it's worth doing so. We are now 2/3rd through the game and it's likely the reward for scamming will be 10Ƀ later on. Maybe I'm one of them trying to save my stash from cheaper scammers Wink

Most likely it's 5h of work to feed an account to 100 posts and some users already have their sock puppet troll accounts that they can just as well make famous and start over.

My conclusion is more that 99% of all humans are trustworthy but 1% are capable of making huge damage. These 1% might not really care about 4Ƀ. These 1% are the reason we need rules and all kind of regulation – a society basically.

Some of the forums I've been on have over 1000 pages of scammer reports. It's actually quite sad, like wth you wouldn't do that in real life would you? I guess people think it's different when it's over a computer screen  Cry
