121  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoins to the South Pole! on: November 03, 2013, 08:49:24 PM
There has been some confusion on the name. His name is "Fayçal Hanneche" but I have accidently written it as "Faycal Hanneche" on the sticker. The letter "ç" does not exist in Scandinavia where Fayçal has lived for many years so he has "internationalized" his name. The "international" version is Faysal, not Faycal. Faysal is also what he prefers.
122  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Urgent! Need to raise ~$1,200 USD in 24 hrs for South Pole expedition. on: November 03, 2013, 07:07:42 PM
Faysal needed to raise 60K euros for the expedition, but opt to allow a guy he just met, Thorkil...
Hold on right there! In the PM I sent you, I proved that I have known Faycal since 1999 when I was 12 years old. We both lived in Norway at the time. At this place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Cross_Nordic_United_World_College

All this is included in the PM that I sent you. Did you even read it?

I have also answered your question on the ambiguity of the names to the best of my ability.

That said, again I apologize if I'm off base and totally off my rocker with this, but seriously, something is not adding up right in my head. Maybe it's the hole from rod.
Check the PM that I sent you and all the replies and have written on this. I sent the same PM to "bg002h" from this forum. And he was able to use the information in the PM and a correspondence with the coindesk journalist to validate my claims. I have probably made some mistakes too so there is no reason to apologize. BUT. Please stop asking questions I have already answered. I have better things to do than sit here and press F5 in order to prove my honest intentions.

Goal reached! 15 BTC donated to 1Gt1anYr6gEuiNgacFouhy4RUNQFH3YY9Y. Donations are still accepted though. Now it is up to Faycal and the ones responsible for bringing the flag to him in Cape Town.
124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Urgent! Need to raise ~$1,200 USD in 24 hrs for South Pole expedition. on: November 03, 2013, 03:02:54 PM
Richard, the author of the coindesk article, interviewed Faysal via both gmail and his public figure Facebook account and confirmed the Bitcoin address with Faysal (the brave explorer). This is as legit as it comes without signatures and irc logs.

I think we need some best practice guidelines so folks not as accustomed to computer nerd security culture can make themselves stand out more clearly from scammers.

Again...I believe this address to be valid and Thorkill (the big 6.8 BTC donor/Sirius money) to be legitimately acting on Faysal's behalf.
Thank you for settling this. I appreciate your enquiries.
125  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoins to the South Pole! on: November 03, 2013, 12:48:49 PM
The latest update on the mission is that it has been delayed for one day due to bad weather on the Novolazarevskaya Station in Antarctica.
126  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining on another planet. Possible? on: November 03, 2013, 12:04:56 PM
quantum entanglement should allow for instantaneous communication over any distance.
It shouldn't and it doesn't.

Why shouldn't it? I guess you know everything their is to know about quantum mechanics,.... better let the rest of the world know so they can give up their research.
Foxpup is correct. I am a physicist.
127  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoins to the South Pole! on: November 03, 2013, 09:35:49 AM
Various inquiries
I have sent you a bunch of personal information proving my connection to Faycal along with my contact information and instructions on how you can confirm my claims through the coindesk reporter who interviewed Faycal by email, Richard Boase. This should confirm that Faycal is onboard with this.

Regarding the srsmoney.com domain vs. the siriusmoney.com domain: srsmoney.com is being outfased but is currently registered at Jakob Høppermann who is a former partner in my company. He is now not involved with Sirius Money. Proof that Jakob Høppermann has been involved with my company:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:c4C1inaPCxkJ:guide.lokalavisen.dk/profil/sirius-money-aps-1300543+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=dk&lr=lang_da%7Clang_de%7Clang_en%7Clang_no

Regarding the spelling of Faycal's name, I have no idea why there exists an ambiguity. Maybe it is a non-western name which can be translated in various ways just like "Peking" and "Beijing"?

Faycal does not have the private key to 1Gt1anYr6gEuiNgacFouhy4RUNQFH3YY9Y, only I do. In the 1st post that I wrote on this, I requested an escrow (because I know the paranoia of the Grand Old Men of this forum) but none came forward so I took it upon myself. I run a Bitcoin broker business and my credibility in this community is worth a hell of a lot more than 15 BTC. Excuse my French. Besides, if there is time, you can contact Faycal and ask him if he trusts me on this.

You are welcome to dig as deep as you like (should be fun) but keep your accusations to yourself. They are potentially very damaging.

The only mistake I have made was not to sign the donation address but this address was first published in the Coindesk article so I thought that that added credibility/validity to the request.

Looks like the goal is essentially met (€2000).

A signed message from the donation address is the next step. (In retrospect ought to have been my first step and the first step of any bitcoin journalist).
Roger. I am in control of that. Does this work? Worked it out on Blockchain.info.

Message:
"Thorkil Værge is in control of Faycal Hanneche's bitcoin wallet and he will give Faycal his bitcoins when/if Faycal comes back from Antarctica. If he does not return (God forbid it) he will donate the bitcoins to charity"

Edit: Since these are Faysal's money, I will administrate them as he tells me to do. For any enquiries on this, I can prove his wishes if needed.

I have relayed the information that I can. This is out of my hands now and up to the community.

Flag can be carried to the South Pole provided that it is delivered in the reception of the hotel RADISSON BLU HOTEL WATERFRONT, CAPE TOWN: http://www.radissonblu.com/hotel-capetown before Monday evening, November 4th. And provided that Faycal survives and that this mission is a success.

Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion

i like to keep it long, for google searches

as long as fail gox is out of it...   it is fighting to keep its 3rd place right now... btc-e is about to over take again!

thanks for changing the title. much better Smiley

Quoting for historical purposes. The end of the Gox era. Respect. And good call on the name change.
134  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: November 01, 2013, 09:37:28 AM
I'm still thinking the next major news to move the price will not be BTC news. Nothing has been fixed in the world economies and it's just a matter of time until yet another shoe drops.

I think Bitcoin can use a little more time to develop usability and services before shit hits the fan in a big way.

It is never a good time for the sht to hit the fan. But the longer Bitcoin experiences organic growth, the better.
135  Economy / Trading Discussion / Best merchant solution for a bar on: November 01, 2013, 01:36:11 AM
Hi

I was hoping for some input on what you thought was the best merchant solution for a bar. Is it tablets with Mycellium installed, would it be better to use an online wallet like blockchain or are there other options where the bartender/employees can see that transactions are on their way to the wallet owned by the bar?

Should the bar use one or multiple addresses?

Sincerely,
Sword Smith

139  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will the price of BTC be when 22M people want 1 BTC each? on: October 26, 2013, 09:43:00 PM
What will the price of BTC be when 22 million people know that bitcoin is not gold and that there are many altcoins which work exactly like bitcoin?

What will the price of BTC be when the major exchanges like MtGox, Btcchina & co. add other coins on their platform?

Why is gold much more valuable than silver, despite that it has way less actual uses? Why is dollar more valuable than gold, even though everyone knows that it is a unit of unpayable debt from a bankrupt government?

Marketability. Salability. Hoardability.

(...)
It is always nice to read your long elaborations on monetary theory and history. Thank you for sharing!
140  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoins to the South Pole! on: October 25, 2013, 07:25:23 AM

Did somebody already mention planting a Bitcoin flag?
A flag could be amazing! But who has one? Does one exist?

The deadlines are November 1st for a delivery in Norway and November 4th for a delivery in South Africa.
