121  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 11, 2014, 12:58:30 PM
So are we going to final bottom around $370 next week or not?

Don't bet on that. This could be the last chance to buy < $450.

So this time it is the last last last last chance  Grin

Could be.

I think there will be plenty of chances to buy < $450 until July.

123  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: May 10, 2014, 05:20:42 PM
Inflation is the general increase in prices, so it is the goods that you buy whose price will inflate, rather than the currency used to buy the goods.

Some people want to be different and say that inflation is an increase in money supply (monetary base before all). It may or may not influence the prices... Cool

Those are two possible definition of inflation. Monetary inflation and price inflation.

On this forum, yes. Anywhere else (any economics literature...), no. This is like telling a physicist there are two kinds of temperature, one based on molecule vibration and the other based on things being hot.

You agree that using "inflation" when you mean "price inflation" is like defining temperature as "things being hot", right?   Smiley

... Actually, very often judgments like: "There are several ways to define a thing, but some definitions are better (more scientific, more reasonable, more sane, less stupid,...)" is calling for flamewars.  Wink

Perhaps some official policy concerning new cryptocoins would be helpfull on btc-e web for these altcoinmongers.  Smiley
Something like:
New cryptocion will be considered (not guaranteed) for addition to btc-e if:
  • It exists for more than ... weeks/months
  • Is not premined or redistributed by non-market forces more than ... %
  • Is used for buying and selling goods with daily turnover at least ... USD for at least ... weeks. (speculation in BTC and fiat excluded)
  • Is not aggressively promoted.
  • Has official webpages describing its parameters.
  • Official dontaion to btc-e.com at least ... BTC.
  • Unofficial dontaion to btc-e.com at least ... BTC.
  • etc.

With note that these rules do not apply to existing listed cryptocoins.
With another set of rules, conditions and timelines for (existing) cryptocoin delisting.

...

Quicker way to access your funds using decrypt tool and Electrum

All your private keys are in the "wallet.aes.json" file. You could use any Bitcoin client you wish if you can extract the keys. The hurdle really is decrypting the "wallet.aes.json" file. There is a little known tool on Blockchain.info website which can decrypt your wallet:

127  Bitcoin / Mycelium / Re: Mycelium Bitcoin Wallet on: May 05, 2014, 03:58:37 PM
What does the Mycelium dev team think of the new "bit" unit? I'm a proponent of this change and would love the option to show µBTC as bits. If we want this change to take off, it needs to be supported in all popular wallets.

I think this is bad idea. I think that general public should get used to mili-, micro-, nano- prefixes and adapt to Bitcoin and its basic rules, not the other way around (Bitcoin rules adapting to general public or to psychological discomfort of "owning a fraction of something"). There are far too many "convenient" alternatives. Maybe when 1 µBTC = 1 USD, but it would still be quite confusing with cent in my opinion.
Edit: After reading jgarziks's post, I see the point. Well, I still think that "existing financial software and many popular accounting and finance packages" should adapt to Bitcoin not the other way around. But I admit, this view of mine is probably not very realistic one.

Unrelated... I have realized my first trade through LocalTrader today and it was great experience. We met and talked about Bitcoin for about 15 minutes and even tried opposite transaction for small amount of mBTC. However, I am little bit puzzled about notification behavior of Mycelium. For me, I got update (sound and vibration) only when I launched application. My counterpart (seller) on the other way got notification in action bar as some icon. I might take quite a while to notice buy request or update, therefore increase in "expected trade time". But overall, I liked functionality very much.

Vše jsme zvážili a změnili jsme premine na jedno procento, které bude rozdáno občanům české republiky rovným dílem skrz formulář, který bude brzy k dispozici.

Takže nákup osobních údajů za nové cryptocoiny? :-)

excuse for the noob question,

so a red candle on wisdom means more sell volume than buy volume?
and a red candle can be higher (than previous candles)due to a a higher sell price?

Just means that the opening price was higher than the closing price, it has nothing to do with volume.

thx!
but the lenght of the candle has to do with the volume i suppose

No. It has to do with difference between opening price and closing price. Actually candle height IS difference between opening and closing price.

What would convince bears to be bulls and what would convince bulls to be bears?
For bears: How long should bitcoin price rise and to what price that we can call this dip over?
For bulls: How low must bitcoin fall before someone agree that it will never reach more than 1000USD again until several years from now?
132  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My new TREZOR on: April 27, 2014, 04:08:02 PM
I have ordered in June and I am still confident that I will receive TREZOR sooner or later. You should not trust anyone, especially in Bitcoin, but you should not trust no one either. There are some trustworthy people and this is one of such cases.

Je to bullshit. Nikdo nebude dobrovolne rozdavat zlato aby si ho nekdo vytezil. Takova mena by fungovala jen v pripade ze by menu(zlato) prodavala centralni autorita, ktera by fixovala cenu a tezit by neslo, jen vybirat poplatky za transakce.

Naopak, to (by) nefungovalo. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-gold)

What does "Expected trade time" mean? It is present for some sellers and not for the others. Are those the sellers who already completed trade and "expected trade time" shows their past performance?
136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 24, 2014, 12:37:05 PM
This day in Bitcoin price history:

April 24th, 2011 : 1BTC = $1.7
April 24th, 2012 : 1BTC = $5.10     (+300% from 2011)
April 24th, 2013 : 1BTC = $154.20  (+3024% from 2012, +9070% from 2011)
April 24th, 2014 : 1BTC = $485.00  (+314% from 2013, +9510% from 2012, +28529% from 2011)

Hey there hodler, that's a mighty big percentage you got there.

feels like the train has been long gone.

Is what people thought exactly one year ago.

And they will be thinking the same in 2015, in 2016 and in 2040 too.
137  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation and Deflation of Price and Money Supply on: April 24, 2014, 11:54:08 AM
Inflation is one of the most important variables in economics. And the Glossary of Economics Terms defines deflation as occurring “when prices are declining over time”.

So, in your opinion, what is the "right" term for decrease in monetary base (which can or might not lead to decline in prices)? Is "money supply contraction" right term? Is the Glossary of Economics Terms anyhow more authoritative than other sources?
138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: April 24, 2014, 11:50:16 AM
I just thinking to buy more machines. If that graph really goes down and with more difficulty, did calculate in bitcoinwisdom, its never ROI. 1 TH with price almost 3500 USD (include shipment and tax). How the hell people still buy more machines ?

And why its goes down ? I dont see any bad news, and china's schedule for Global Bitcoin Summit 2014 in Beijing is coming up...

Because there is a small group of people with a lot of coins who want to take us down.
It can't be more obvious. The market actually wants to go up. But every single time we go up a bit there is a big dump. Pure manipulation.
I have no idea who these people are. I'm not into conspiracies but it stinks.

If 2013 is any guide, it takes 5 months from the capitulation bottom to reach the new high. Of that, 3 months nothing happened. So this month nothing will happen, May nothing will happen, June nothing will happen, July something will start to happen, August, latest September we are at $7.

Argh, how is it possible to wait 0.25 more YEARS, after all, it is 90 days, more than 2000 hours!! I want my candy NOW!!1

What? You mean $7 as seven dolars "new high"?

Those are two possible definition of inflation. Monetary inflation and price inflation.

To avoid confusion, money supply (or its increase) is better to be used instead of monetary inflation since deflation (the opposite of price inflation) has only one meaning (namely, currency appreciation). There is no monetary deflation in the sense of money supply contraction... Cool

And that, that is a big mistake!  Smiley
