1201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC energy use jumps 41% in 12 months, increasing regulatory risks on: October 19, 2022, 05:03:33 AM
I echo the comment from Apocollapse. That's what the truth is! Even if the energy consumption is increasing, the proportion of sustainable and green energy is also increasing. So that's a net positive for environment. However, my only fear is the overly concerned EU parliament and the environmentalists with political power. They will anyways try to raise concerns at the highest level possible to satisfy their own agenda. EU parliament has already initiated proceedings to ban any "proof of work" cryptocurrency and I believe there was some movement to this news in the last week. This is concerning, because it will create a huge problem for the sustainability of bitcoin network, even though it will be temporary.
1202  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Zero KYC tolerance gambling platforms on: October 18, 2022, 06:42:17 PM
Is KYC verification very important to crypto gambling websites or this has something to do with their regulations rule? Where can one gamble with zero verification requirements?

There are multiple websites available where you wouldn't require KYC to play and win. However, every online casino has a tolerance limit. If you play and win within their tolerance limit, you should not have any problem. However, if you suddenly win a huge amount of money, they may ask for KYC documents. Even reputable casino does this to comply with local money laundering law. So having KYC requirement is not always bad. However, if you gamble with a small amount of money, then no casino should have a problem and they will never ask for KYC. Stay active in this gambling forum and you will understand which casinos are good and which casinos are problematic.
1203  Economy / Economics / Re: Actions against bitcoin miners would have greater consequences on: October 18, 2022, 05:52:13 PM
If EU starts taking actions against the bitcoin miners and forcefully shuts down their mining operations, then there will be consequences for sure. But I don't see any long term effect. Miners who have invested millions of dollars in setting up their mining operations, they will definitely look out for alternate places to move their operations to. Similarly what happened during Chinese crackdown.

So even if there's an impact, that will be temporary.
1204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi network mining on: October 17, 2022, 06:06:10 PM
Lately it seems that Pi network is growing day by day.  Who can touch Bitcoin on the Pi network?  Many say that the Pi Network will overtake Bitcoin.  I had a bit of a laugh when I heard about the Bitcoin leak.  Bitcoin is the number one coin in cryptocurrency.  I don't think comparing any coin to Bitcoin is anything but silly.  But what is your opinion?  If anyone has an idea about pi network, please let me know.

Pi network is a scam business. Tell me one simple thing, if a coin is available for free using your mobile phone, can you tell me how on earth it would have value? Or how on earth someone will pay for it? If you understand this, you will understand that Pi network will never succeed.

If  by any chance Pi network gets listed in exchanges, the owner will simply sell of their holdings at the first go and leave the market. Also why do they need our KYC?
1205  Economy / Economics / Re: Meta has burned $15 billion trying to build the metaverse on: October 17, 2022, 04:44:02 PM
I always thought that Metaverse is a stupid idea, it can only succeed when VR is massively popular, which it is not right now. Zuck is trying to put a cart before the horse.

I belong to the same league. Metaverse and NFT - both are stupid ideas! In this era of scientific advancements, keeping people busy into an non-existent world, can bring disaster. Meta is seeing that looking at their sliding stock price.

Elon was so right about this. He said it is a marketing buzzword to create curiosity. But once the curiosity is satisfied, people will not head back to such world because it's not a value proposition to them.

Entire concept of a metaverse, is going to fail Miserably.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency should be infused to academic systems on: October 17, 2022, 01:37:00 PM
I too disagree here! Cryptocurrency is not something very feasible for basic classes to understand. Also it's a very new technology and it is still going through that innovation phase where everything is very dynamic. The entire cryptocurrency market is not very structured yet. So trying to put in into a formal mode of education, may pass wrong information to the future generations.

However, it can be added for the higher studies as an optional subject where the students have attained some financial maturity.
1207  Economy / Economics / Re: JP Morgan CEO, Jamie Dimon, another Charlie Munger? on: October 14, 2022, 03:35:41 PM
This is not the first time Jemie spoke bad about bitcoin. But when he spoke for the first time, the market reacted negatively. But then the market stopped giving shit to him. Warren Buffett is another prominent hater or bitcoin. He also spoke negative about it many times. But now the market is immune from such negative comments.

Haters will always hate and every good thing will have haters. That doesn't mean anything. It's a free world and anyone can have their own thinking process. Just learn to ignore!
1208  Economy / Economics / Re: Court win for worker fired for not keeping webcam on on: October 14, 2022, 05:20:51 AM
I read the story yesterday and I really feel bad for the employees of that company. This is absolutely ridiculous! There are multiple and better ways to monitor the performance of an employee. I know some companies are using software's like prohence which is another tool for monitoring an employee and another ridiculous thing.

Companies which are using such methods to monitor an employee, should not be allowed to do business. A company is paying for the skills and time of an employee. But asking them to put their camera on for the entire duration of the shift is non sense.
1209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nvidia finally pulls shutters down on its Russian offices on: October 13, 2022, 08:20:59 PM
GPU maker Nvidia is shutting down its operations in Russia following its earlier decision to stop selling products there. The company is said to be offering employees the chance to continue working for it in another country.
https://www.theregister.com/2022/10/04/nvidia_russia_offices/

Nvidia also opened its office in Russia, located in Moscow, a long time ago. He has been working since 2003. In other words, the representative office is only a few months away from the anniversary.
https://www.cnews.ru/news/top/2022-10-03_nvidia_okonchatelno_uhodit

That's quite unfortunate! But how the war is ongoing, many companies have already closed down their doors in Russia and fired the entire resources. It's great that NVidia has at least given a chance to their employees to work from another country. My company has just closed their office and fired around 75+ employees in Russia. It's really sad to see that innocent people are being impacted because of the decisions made by a communist leader. I really hope this war stops without any further escalations and common people like us gets their due and respect. But the events are suggesting that it is getting into another world war.
1210  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Copy trading profitable? on: October 13, 2022, 05:39:07 PM
This is not an advice for any newbie to use copy trading. I have seen many lead traders that are copied but losing. This is just about knowing if lead traders are truly making much money.

I mean lead traders to be those traders that newbies are automatically copying their trades.

Are you a lead trader? If you are, what is the best crypto exchange you can be a lead trader and what is the maximum profit in percentage?

I used to copy trade back in my forex trading days. There were actually a couple of brokers like Etoro, Nforex etc. Who offers such kind of service where you can follow a lead trader and his trades will be automatically copied for you proportionate to your investment.

To be honest, I have never made money out of copy trade. Because at every profitable trade, the lead trader used to take a commission and unless someone has a huge money invested, the profits are usually miniscule.

I have never tried copy trade in crypto though.
1211  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling - Do you have winning limits???? on: October 13, 2022, 12:06:13 PM
My choice of gambling is Dice. Regularly I used to spend some time playing dice. It used be fun most at the beginning and ends with sadness. I used to have limits on winning, if I was able to make the win I just quit it for the day. In such a way I used to gamble and once after the previous week campaign payment I continued till today. Finally today even after achieving my limits on winning, I went for higher winning. What happened is loss of entire funds in the wallet. I've got more similar experiences. Does anyone have used similar strategy on winning limits.

It's very wise to have limits on everything. Be it for winning or for losses. That's one of the key character traits of highly successful people. It's always better to know your limits and act accordingly. The moment you are drawn into greed, you will start loosing money.

Personally I have a spending limit on crash games which I play the most. If my spending limit is over, I don't look back at the game for the rest of the week regardless of the fact if I am winning or loosing.
1212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #btc Hashrate Reach New ATH a day ago, will the bull run has begun? on: October 13, 2022, 04:49:52 AM
It could lead to a bull run because high hash rate shows the interest of miners around bitcoin. However, miners are the sellers in the market. To support the price rise, it also needs buyers. If the demand goes beyond the available supply in the market, it would certainly trigger a price rise.

However, it may be possible that the price rise is temporary. It will give some investors a chance to cash in the opportunity. But it's likely not to stay for longer. Let's hope for the best!
1213  Economy / Economics / Re: Switching The World To Renewable Energy Will Cost $62 Trillion on: October 12, 2022, 06:34:20 PM
62 trillion is a huge amount and I am not sure how this amount is reached! However, even if this happens, that will happen phase wise and not in one go! This will also gradually eliminate the need of traditional energy production which has its own environmental benefits.

So even if this cost is true, I believe the benefits will outrun the cost in long term and the humankind will see a cleaner tomorrow to breathe which is more important than the cost itself.
1214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Biggest Mysteries Of Bitcoin on: October 12, 2022, 03:13:04 AM
If his identity is revealed there will be negative effects on bitcoin, but not to the extent that it is the end of bitcoin, bitcoin will always exist and thrive as long as our needs remain. Satoshi is the creator of bitcoin and he can hold a lot of bitcoins but I guess he can't control bitcoins either, so his presence won't change the decentralized nature of bitcoin either.

I doubt that! There will be a temporary effect on the market which can be negative but that will be recovered faster that we expect. It all depends on the course of actions taken by the enforcement agencies once the identity of real Satoshi is revealed and confirmed. I am sure a lot of enforcement agencies are waiting for this information. So we will see what impact it brings on to the market. But decentralization has its own benefits.

Quote
Let's say bitcoin is over, I see it's also the end of the entire crypto market, there's no reason why ethereum or any other cryptocurrency should ever replace bitcoin. Not all deserve to sit in the place of bitcoin, centralized altcoins.

That's never gonna happen! Bitcoin can't be controlled by Satoshi or some agency. No cryptocurrency will ever replace bitcoin till the time it is minable.
1215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the US being too hard on crypto? on: October 11, 2022, 06:05:30 PM
Ever since the Biden administration proposed a regulatory framework for crypto/Blockchain tech, government agencies have been targeting platforms and users more aggressively. First it was the sanctioning of the Tornado.Cash mixer, and now the SEC wants to classify all PoS coins as securities. They seem to be more against Ethereum than Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency for that matter. There was a case between the SEC and Ripple, but thankfully, it didn't turn out to be a huge win for the government agency. Compared to the previous administration, I think the current administration is taking crypto too seriously.

Do you think crypto's ever-rising popularity will lead towards more regulation by the US? Or will things settle up a bit? Do you believe the US is being too hard on crypto? If not, which other country (or countries) is worst? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

US is too hard on everything, globally! Whenever they see an oil-rich country, they send military there to save that country from their own administration like what happened in Iraq Or Syria. The same is happening with crypto.

As charity begins at home, they are first targetting their home users and then they will launch a global attack on crypto companies doing business with US citizens and then the countries with most mining operations.

Please note - the above post is imaginary and any resemblance with the reality is a pure coincidence.

1217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk is one of the keys to be 100k$ per Bitcoin? on: October 11, 2022, 03:27:55 PM
This is an old tweet which doesn't hold much value now. Elon is a strong supporter of cryptocurrency, no doubt about it! But he can't be the sole reason for bitcoin to reach 100k USD. If he had the power of such manipulation, he would have done it by now.

With the power he has, he can definitely bring in a temporary pump into the market. But it's way beyond his power to make it 100k.
1218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin to be used for micropayments on Twitter? on: October 11, 2022, 10:46:14 AM
I don't see it happening in reality to be honest. Even though Elon is going ahead with this deal, I don't see Doge is being accepted in Twitter. There are multiple regulatory blockers which will make it very difficult for Elon to roll out such things worldwide.

Yes, it may be possible in US and other crypto friendly nations but can't be rolled out worldwide. Also I am not sure if Doge is actually capable of handling such initiatives.
1219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about CBDCs? on: October 10, 2022, 05:23:18 PM
I don't belong to any of these categories! CBDC is a just a digital representation of fiat currency. It will make transacting in fiat more convenient and at the same time it will help the government to crack hard on money laundering kind of stuff. It has no relationship with cryptos and it is also not a threat to cryptocurrencies at all.

However, with CBDC, financial freedom may become a myth.
1220  Economy / Gambling / Re: To what extent do you chase anonymity while gambling? on: October 10, 2022, 12:49:39 PM
Hey guys.
Choosing crypto in casinos has always also to do with more anonimous gambling.
Anyway I'm curious how important is anonimity to you when you pay & play?

I would say it's very very important, at least for me! There are multiple countries in Asia where gambling is legally banned. So there is always a risk factor. So staying anonymous is very important for the gamblers from such countries. No KYC rule 8s very important and that's one of the major decision making factor for many people while choosing a gambling platform.

Whenever, there is a new platform appears in the market, that's the most frequently asked question in this forum whether there is a requirement of KYC or not!
