OB has got about 260 open bugs actually, some of them I will have to fix to get monero parts working. but I also suppose, the most complicated part will be developing of well-operating monero escrow without multisig.

260 open bugs, some of which he'd have to fix before modifying it to work without multisig and modifying it to work with XMR. Doesn't seem realistic for that to be done in a month, and even if it were, the result would still be buggy. I hate to be a wet blanket, but let's maybe think about this. Would a buggy Freebazaar with no multi-sig really get much use even as a marketing tool? Would it really be superior to an onion site or IRC channel with a reputation system and escrow agents? We'd end up throwing more money at re-modifying it to use multi-sig once XMR finally gets working multisig. If core XMR devs hold Atrides as a software engineer in high esteem, then that's enough for me. But there's always an opportunity cost. He could be paid to work on something else.

Note: I am not withdrawing my pledge. I move with the consensus.

I would suggest working on the integration and leaving the bugs to the initial devs and if those need to be addressed for proper integration then that bug could be addressed. I see no reason for this project to fix bugs that may be handled differently from the initial fork which would deviate the project farther from the initial fork which would make maintenance a magnitude in order tougher to maintain.

this of course is just an opinion and can be ingnored.

12305  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 03, 2015, 02:14:36 PM
i know it probably happens often, and when it does its only fleeting...

but BTC just dipped below 300$.

and everything else shows a -% 24 hr change leading all the way up to 19 (XMR) +1.82% on coinmarketcap, (except for Supernet, which isn't even a currency)

silly markets

How low will BTC go? Time to buy. Cheesy

I agree... what's up with the steep decline in price? soon we go under the crowd fund price...

Probably those that bought in order to burn and dump.

As an aside, Why do people think there must be ONE wallet to rule them all?

12309  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: January 02, 2015, 11:36:42 PM
I agree with you insofar as my own moral foundation stands.  But a core value for me is freedom, and I would not assume to dictate to the users or markets how they use a cryptocurrency.

I rather see the neutral aspect of Monero being a digital cash for transactions which benefit from privacy.  It is a use case agnostic position.

Certainly I can't control how anyone uses it, but I would not personally support such endeavours.

Has this account been hijacked?

So what your saying is you don't support fiat? It is used daily to murder rape and pillage.

How is this being made into an issue?

People are literally asking the developers to put into place a function in the wallet that will 100% be used to rape, murder, pillage, sell drugs, assassinate, pay for theft, etc, and this is the point that is being resisted currently.

The fact that you say, oh well we're just giving them an avenue to conduct transactions privately on a neutral ground doesn't change this fact. Sure, private transactions are great, but I wouldn't want that kinda shit on my computer.

All of this can be coded to use Monero, and none of it has to be inside the wallet software that the developers provide.

Let them provide the multisig, unadulterated wallet software, eliminate security flaws and refine the core functionality of the software .. but I wouldn't expect them to start picking and choosing apps to put into it.

I wouldn't want an ebay bank account ... why would I?

Untrue, Just because something can be used for evil does not mean it will be and can't be used for good. We are not the Moral POLICE. I am of the opinion that I should be able to buy a joint for my dieing mother, I'm sorry you feel I don't have that right.

I would love to help but I bought in at about the peak and hold so little it would be a drop in the bucket.

but this Freemarket Idea is certainly the way to go. It is even better if it could be integrated into the gui wallet to be released. This should be a consideration from inception so as to make integration seamless from the getgo.

We are still in an early beta and we haven't even started an advertising campaign and you're already talking about stagnation or loss of supporters Smiley The current users of a Node is pioneers, "salt of the earth", may be the most advanced part of cryptocommunity who versed in crypto technology and its evolution and who is able to see a few steps ahead. We build long-term system, it's not a lottery and not MLM, it's a global payment system with a certain niche in the market of money transfers.
In 2013 customers paid $ 260 billion as comission for credit card transactions. Currency exchange market has a volume $ 5 trillion per day (for comparison, the market USD/BTC is still very small - only $ 10 million (or 500,000 times less). If we will get 1-2% of that market during next couple of years it will be a good start for us.

So now you have the opportunity to support the system and get a reward at the initial stage. In the future "time forging" for network support will be available only for Master Nodes - everybody can run it, but the requirements for the connection and server will be high - 24/7 high speed connection and 10,000+ open ports. The rest will receive bonuses only for the usage of network for its intended purpose - as a payment system.

Not to be a downer but, This is not the only currency trying to fill that niche and if there is ZERO incentive to support the network then it will not happen. I support many networks and have to prioritize those. This has fallen off my support list and will stay there unless I see a light at the end of the tunnel. And with this attitude towards the pioneers as you put it then I do not see a future here and I think the price is reflecting that.

You can think what you wish but every prediction I have made has come true. Feel free to check my history if you wish.

Is there a Noxt-NXT on a exchange? I see the one in the wallet but I have no reference to go by and I'm not going to calculate Noxt to btc, nxt to btc to compare every time.

I guess this is the closest you can get now, but the liquidity sucks: https://trade.secureae.com/#6780060819348751348

Thanks for that.

VPN coin is very cheap at this point  Shocked
Yes,thats why Im stacking up Smiley

You mean staking, or buying at exchanges?

Also, if you mean staking, then how? Even I tried staking but it didn't work... I have each of my coins matured, but still it doesn't stake the coins... I'm dying to start staking them, please let me know how you have been staking it? Please share everything in detail... Smiley

I have been getting stakes. They are very small like .002 - .0003 and only 5 in 2 weeks. It should increase as coin is adopted and used more.

Glad to see that 2 accounts can forge all blocks. that seems balanced and fair.

NodeClub/RealSilk, if you wouldn't mind, please PM me the mathematics of the algo.

A while ago I was working on a similar but rather sophisticated project.  The idea of PoA is novel but, IMHO, can be easy to manipulate.  Of course, your take on the solution could have solved many of the problems that I discovered.  Regardless, I think I could make a few suggestions that could improve the algo if I had a reasonable understanding of the process.

I understand that you guys are wanting to stay quiet on the details for fear of copycats but check my account-- I'm well invested in NODE, so it's success is quite important to me.

Thank you.

I sent You PM.

The possibility of manipulation will automatically disappear with the growth of the network and capitalization. If You send 10,000 (fee is 35) and gain highest PoA weight then You can get a profit only when the next block will be 35+1, - respectively, next transaction should be 10000+1. But it can be 10, 100 or even 1, - so then You get less than You give. In this case Your unnecessary transactions will bring You nothing but losses Smiley Now, on the initial stage of network forger's number is small, and there is a high percentage of large transactions 490,000+ You can get some profit sending money between own accounts, but the overall low level of capitalization will make it low.
So I repeat again: in the future this possibility will disappear automatically with increasing of total number of transactions and a decreasing in the average transaction amount. Even now there is enough around 15-20 small & middle transactions per hour to overlap this possibility.

In the February release we try to make the PoA coefficient as open and transparent as possible.

one quick question. if i run my node for lets say 40 hours and i get a short disconnect, is all my poa power lost?

Right

Seriously hurts those that cannot run 24/7. this will not lead to more nodes but less. Therefor giving the Nodes that forge even less competition and more share of the forging process thereby defeating the goal of creating more nodes for security.

It may be too late but at first the POA should have been phased in a milestones. that would have assured a larger base in the initial launch. Well we live and learn through doing.

I'll spark up the wallet for a few days in a few weeks and see if I forge anything. But I am of the opinion that node increase will/is stagnated. The reward is not there.

As I recommended earlier What is needed is a random giveaway to nodes that have not forged. Also resetting age when wallet loses connectivity or is closed for the night is detrimental to the extreme.

Unless these issues are addressed this project is going to see a significant tapering off of supporters, It is inevitable.

Hueristic I have responded to your PMs privately and repeatedly publicly stated I will be sending out the burn PMs shortly. I am about to post the public process also to get it over and done with today. The BTC crowd fund came first, and now the NOBL burning process begins - with the information and process to come. If you are burning NOBL, it is being exchanged as if its current value is 18 satoshi.

If you have 3,500,000 NOBL, that would equal 0.63 BTC worth (3,500,000 x 0.00000018), which would net you 1500 NOXT (0.63 / 0.00042 (NOXT crowd fund price).

Thx, That makes sense. What did you make the cutoff date for for people that were buying just to burn for a profit? Personally I haven't bought since before Noxt was announced so it doesn't effect me but was just curious.

Oh and thx for the PM. Smiley

So for now it is not POA, but POFA? Huh
^Proof of Fake Activity^  Grin
Hence no one is keeping wallets open anymore.
