Yes, it might be convenient for development, but it'd be much more detrimental to functionality as a whole.
It would ruin the safety we'd have gained by using BTC as a store of wealth. Maybe you can't be certain you'll be able to use a computer to transfer coins every 6 months or even every 6 years. You'd still want to be guaranteed you won't lose your BTC assets.
In summary, no they shouldn't.

Long term it looks like someone with too much time and money on their hands that knows how to properly hedge both sides of the slopes. Playing the short game against that could be deadly for the faint of heart though. ;p
as we all saw, playing the long game can be rough, too Been pretty smooth sailing over here.

Does anyone know what happened to HavenCo, hosted on Sealand? That would be perfect for this. Maybe renewed interest would bring it back to life.

I did read the OP. And your replies. And absolutely nothing about that indicates this is going to be anything more than a new coat of paint on top of Bitcoin.
I would retract every statement I made if you could just identify one feature that makes this a legitimately superior platform that could not exist as PART of Bitcoin.
+1 User friendly client - Use Bitcoin network and build a user friendly client. Integrated exchange - Use Bitcoin network and integrate exchange into client. Closed Source for security (lolz) - Use Bitcoin network and don't release source code for your client (MIT license allows this for derivitive works). Market to casual users "IM crowd" - Use Bitcoin network and market to casual users. None of the "features" require a new coin. The fact that you "NEED" to release an exact copy of Bitcoin makes it a pump and dump get rich scam. There is no other "NEED" for starting from scratch. The only thing that using existing Bitcoin network prohibits you from doing is premine 8 million coins. PERIOD. +2. Also, you should appreciate the fact that anyone is replying to your utter nonsense of a "launch announcement" with the legitimate issues pointed out instead of just laughing. If you weren't running a scam you could recover from your initial faceplant with specific answers and information. But since you haven't....

To further clarify you might be absolutely correct. That was a very fast jump we had to 7. But my guess is that we will be over $6 by tomorrow. We shall see.

I'm implying not enough time has passed (since someone purposefully moved the price enough to force liquidation on Bitcoinica) to draw conclusions about where the price has ended up.
|
|
|
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions while the 24hr vol is still over 300k.

Ryan, something a lot of newbs aren't initially aware of: mining is what processes bitcoin transactions. Without mining you can't transfer bitcoins.

Thanks to all for your valuable input.
A more appropriate time to discuss the different aspects of it and try out the client would be at the launch.
Till then, i wish all of you the best.
Too late, you already torpedoed this project before the launch. Educate yourself a little better next time...or don't. You don't seem to be cut out for this world.

Um, I'm a bull and I have no losses. Sorry I can't sympathize.

Awesome article, Im actually in the process of making a 3d printer... Me too! I'm almost done building the Thing-o-matic. Which one are you working on??

There is a difference that many people fail to recognize.
That's because you've only made vague assertions without any substance. If any of these goals require an improvement on Bitcoin's existing technology (btw, they don't), you haven't pointed out what that improvement will be. So far, we just have a boatload of pre-mined coins...surely you realize this is a deterrent to investing any time or money into your alt chain, don't you?
|
|
|
You think pre-mining 8 million coins gets you "up to speed" with Bitcoin? Seriously?
|
|
|
Um, no. A support-staff didn't know what she was talking about and said whatever she needed to say to appease the customer.
You must be quite a hit at parties.

Keep posting - the wailing and gnashing of teeth is music to my ears.

Um, "crashing" ?

I don't think religion has any place in government.
I agree with you - and so does Ron Paul. That's what makes him the best case candidate in this country which is somehow still overrun with people who think Jesus rode dinosaurs. We're not going to get an atheist into the white house. So we need a Christian who believes strongly in freedom and the constitution so that his ridiculous beliefs about an afterlife won't affect all the other things we need him to do as President. Even if you don't agree with Ron Paul 100% - he's still the only guy running who has proven he's trustworthy. He alone gets the label "crazy" for saying things were against the status quo at the time (a lot of them have been proven completely correct in the last decade) - but not because he's the only one that thinks those things. It's because he is the only guy who is completely honest. I think this is the main reason he draws people from so many different parts of the spectrum.
