Today may become top 4 or 3

We'll see...

bitcoincharts.com seems to be working again. It has $1013.00 for the #6 price on 2017-01-02, whereas the other site says $1013.01. I'll be switching back to the bitcoincharts.com prices from today.

Edit: here's the (bash) script I wrote that generates these reports:

Code:
vwap() {
    days=1200
    top=20
    rows=$(wget -o/dev/null -O- "http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/chart.json?m=bitstampUSD&r=$days&i=Daily" |
                  sed 's/], \[/\n/g'   |
                  head -n $((days-1))  |
                  tr -d '[],'          |
                  awk '{print $1, $8}' |
                  sort -k2nr           |
                  head -$top
        )
    newest=$(echo "$rows" | sort -n | tail -1 | awk '{print $1}')
    printf "Update:\n[pre]\n"
    n=1
    echo "$rows" |
        while read t p
        do
            if ((t > 1400000000)); then b1="[b]"            ; b2="[/b]"    ; else b1=""; b2=""; fi
            if ((t == newest))   ; then c1="[color=#7F0000]"; c2="[/color]"; else c1=""; c2=""; fi
            printf "%s%s%2d  %s  %7.2f%s%s\n" "$b1" "$c1" $n "$(TZ= date -d @$t +%Y-%m-%d)" $p "$c2" "$b2"
            ((n++))

(Sorry, I don't like to advertise much. But I feel it'd be a waste of the $133000 USD I lost last night to not do so  Tongue)

That seems like an expensive way to advertise.

Why don't you buy my forum signature instead? A snip at just $100000 USD. Smiley

Looking back, the most recent day used to be distinguished (dark red colour), which was nice.  Any chance of having that again?

Sure!
1246  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: History charts on: January 02, 2017, 09:21:59 PM
On my end the chart also stops short at around 17:00 UTC if I choose a time period from 2017-01-01 to 2017-01-02. It properly shows the recent history if I choose 2017-01-01 to 2017-01-03.

Are you sure? It doesn't for me:

On the chance that you missed my earlier comment: You might prefer TradingView. It can use the same data from Bitstamp but is much easier to navigate in my opinion.

I did miss it. Can I find the daily volume weighted average bitstamp price there? That's what I'm looking for.

Why don't you try this chart https://blockchain.info/charts almost all you need is there to follow the movement of bitcoin..
Coinmarket cap is one of the good chart but less information but good to use for checking other altcoin in rankings.

Do either show the daily volume weighted average bitstamp price?
1247  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetKing.io - 20% Rakeback Christmas Bonus - Most trusted Bitcoin Dice site on: January 02, 2017, 07:56:50 PM
Only 17 people still have more than 0.1 on there so not really a need I don't think.

I won't be withdrawing the dust in my balance. Do whatever you like with it.
1248  Economy / Reputation / Re: Please neg rep me on: January 02, 2017, 06:31:40 PM
Thanks for the quick help. I have total control of the account, and there only seems to be one scam victim for a sum of 0.15 BTC (they used my account and its reputation to organize an alt trade and got the other person to send bitcoin first). However, I am more than happy to pay for out of pocket (it's really my fault for having a crappy password that could be cracked).

The red rep is no longer needed.

I have removed my negative feedback now after talking to you privately. You look green again now.
1249  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: History charts on: January 02, 2017, 05:05:25 PM
My favorite site for analyzing long term Bitcoin price development in USD, EUR and Bitcoin is bitcoincharts.com

It includes data from a lot of exchanges. So you are able to compare them. Data goes back up to 2010 (depends on exchange).

Here is a USD price chart you are looking for https://bitcoincharts.com/charts/bitstampUSD#tgSzm1g10zm2g25zv

That site seems to only show history up to 5pm UTC on Jan 1st 2017. Do you know how to get it to show the more recent prices?

I tried emailing the address on the site, but got no response.
1250  Economy / Reputation / Re: Please neg rep me on: January 02, 2017, 02:38:09 AM
I'm reasonably confident that I spoke to the real owner of the account. He asked me to keep it red-tagged for the time being, to alert potential scam victims that something is wrong.
1251  Economy / Speculation / Re: Top 20 days for Bitcoin on: January 02, 2017, 02:20:56 AM
According to BitcoinWisdom Bitstamp high for the 1st Jan was 1005$ at 23:00.

Right, but this thread is logging the "volume weighted average price" for each day. A single small trade at 1005 is enough to put the high at 1005. I think the volume weighted average is a more useful indicator of the "real" price for the day.

Edit: The VWAP is where you multiply each trade's price in USD by its volume in BTC, add them all up, and divide the total by the total volume in BTC for the day. That way big trades have more effect on the VWAP than small trades, as they should.

It's a shame to lose one of the most trusted Bitcoin dice sites, but I fully understand why you would want a break from it.

Thanks for running the site honestly and not losing or stealing everyone's money. Smiley

What is the use of displaying Real BR? It doesn't help in anyway to calculate the max profit .

Knowing the real bankroll lets you know how much you can win. It tells you how much is actually in the bankroll. The effective bankroll isn't a very useful number, since it doesn't represent real coins. You can use it to calculate the maximum profit per bet, but the maximum profit per bet is already displayed so why bother?

Just enter any of your BTC addresses from your wallet and set up login&password immediately after that. Addresses are not publicly visible. Just make sure the address you put is yours.

It doesn't need to be an address you have ever used or will ever use. Just make up a new random private key and use that.

You can create a new private key using bitaddress.org, and can sign messages using that private key by using Bitcoin Core's new "signmessagewithprivkey" function.

1. go to bitaddress.org
2. wiggle the mouse until you see an address and private key - I got 1DNf7jyzMFBEtj6FbGVgdUBrMtsu6LNRJw and KyGJpNvDphQMzp561pybpegF1hZ1c8nMi2VjytrAaCtMpkGbzMf6
3. give the address to yolodice.com, keep a copy of the private key
4. when you need to sign a message, use bitcoin core:

Code:
$ bitcoind -noconnect
$ bitcoin-cli signmessagewithprivkey KyGJpNvDphQMzp561pybpegF1hZ1c8nMi2VjytrAaCtMpkGbzMf6 "message goes here"

You don't need a copy of the blockchain - the -noconnect option will prevent it from trying to sync the blockchain.

Please note that I do not vouch for yolodice.

Doog, did you invest here?

No, I didn't.

You mind sharing your reasons not to? You can pm it to me if you want.

My default position is not to invest in things. Dice sites in particular seem pretty risky as investments. Even if the site does well you still have to consider the risk of the site getting hacked or the owner of the site being dishonest. Nothing against Dean or BetKing in particular. I guess just holding Bitcoin is a big enough risk for me.
