1241  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New Virus for BTC on: April 06, 2013, 01:51:34 AM
Probably mining on Luke_Jr's Eligius pool (no user requirements, just a Bitcoin address)  Wink
1242  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Need Help getting DUAL GPU radeon's to mine in linux on: April 05, 2013, 10:55:16 PM
I'm still using Ye-olde LinuxCoin on a USB stick.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7374.0;all

I haven't messed with it. We have a saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Cheesy

There is a more up to date Bitcoin mining distro with a different name somewhere on BitcoinTalk.

I cannot get OpenGL to work.

I think you mean OpenCL?

Some OpenCL versions are specific to the Catalyst versions.

Driver Conformance
AMD APP SDK v2.8    AMD Catalyst™ 12.10 (8.961) onwards
AMD APP SDK v2.7    AMD Catalyst™ 12.4 (8.961)
AMD APP SDK v2.6    AMD Catalyst™ 11.12 (8.92)
AMD APP SDK v2.5    AMD Catalyst™ 11.7 (8.872)

Some people claim the oldest one is actually the fastest.
1244  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Poll: I just paid $1,249 for a BFL 25 GH/s Bitcoin Miner order! on: April 05, 2013, 09:29:16 PM
It's not 2 months (60days) to start a PayPal dispute for non-delivery. It's 45 days!  Don't fall for that one. Wink
1245  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will there be enough of bitcoins for everyone? on: April 05, 2013, 03:08:16 PM
The problem with Bitcoins (v1) is a few people have most of the supply. Much like fiat in the real world  Wink

LiteCoin (v2) is fairer, in that people who can build FPGAs/ASICs cannot gain an advantage in mining speed

I'm thinking (v3) needs to have a in built peer-2-peer exchange too.

The Money Revolution has only just started, and like the car, it's not going to stop with the Ford Model A

I will not accept PayPal due to the high fees and fraud potential.

Is an eBay ban waiting to happen.

This unit is now out of stock on the ButterflyLabs website. This order has already been paid for and accepted.

Out of stock because it's impossible to build because of the power requirements!

What you will get is 60x 25GH/s Little Singles or 30x 50GH/s Singles (assuming it's not a pre-order scam)
1247  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: April 3 BFL ASIC update. on: April 05, 2013, 02:26:26 PM
wasteful

You could put the part exchanged FPGA singles in them. People would still buy a 25MH/s (2 BTC a day) FPGA Mini Rig if it was "in stock".
1248  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: MtGox Withdrawal to GBP on: April 04, 2013, 09:31:06 PM
MtGox used a Barclays account in the UK to store a quantity of money.

By using a local money pot it got around exhange fees.

I think the banks got wise to this and closed them down. Also Barclays owns PingIt.

The money changers want their cut and don't want anything threatening their business model.  Wink
1249  Other / Off-topic / Date ordering boggling on: April 04, 2013, 08:42:32 PM
Yes from London England, looking at his other sale, you Americans write the date back to front!

You say it 3rd of April, 2013.
Day-Month-Year is logical smallest to largest time unit!  Tongue

I wonder what made him sell out of Bitcoin so urgently, beside a family thing.
I wonder if there is rumor going around the City of London about Bitcoins imminent demise. Muhahaha.. Wink

1250  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: For Sale BFL Single (London Collection only) on: April 04, 2013, 08:17:10 PM
I would buy it if you accepted PayPal and shipped Royal Mail Special (Insures Us Both For £500 for free, and £1000 for an extra £1)

Sadly don't live anywhere near London, but do have 1440x100% positive feedback.

Just film it working before packing and shipping and nobody can dispute the sale, that's what I do.  Cheesy

Crazy I see people bidding $1,151.00/£760.44 for a used ZTex FPGA Quad, you can buy them new for that.  Shocked

Quote
But the FPGA's, which can only be used for one specific purpose, are now definitely not worth this much.

I though FPGA's were re-programmable?
1251  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: did i make a mistake with BFL's on: April 04, 2013, 08:01:00 PM
The reason i felt they weren't scammers was due to a forum post on this site:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=159700.0

The guy says he has 8 of them, and is selling them as he has better ones.

The question is how did he get 8 jalapeno units?

Due to paying with PayPal, and only spending 150$, its not a serious loss, and i have 45 days from yesterday to actually attempt to get a refund which is why i went through PayPal.

He has 8x FPGA Singles, not ASIC Jalapeños

He's trying to sell his 8x Jalapeño pre-order

(could be a scam/maybe he cannot get a refund/trying to profit from his place in the queue)
1252  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Very low hash rate on: April 04, 2013, 07:47:13 PM
If you want to use CPU/GPU you might try LiteCoin instead, it's been designed to stop FPGA/ASICs unfair advantage.
1253  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: When sending via Bitcoin QT, what amount is not subject to Transaction Fee? on: April 04, 2013, 07:37:06 PM
I'm all for the fee being automated at a set percentage to save confusion over "why my bitcoins not arrived yet!?"
1254  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GUIMiner Hash-rate is too low on: April 04, 2013, 07:31:43 PM
sounds like the pool has gone down.

have a backup pool to switch over to

I recommend 50BTC.com and BitMinter.com
1255  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are we forced to buy whole bitcoins? Why can't we buy 1/2, 1/4 etc? on: April 04, 2013, 07:28:21 PM
Its possible to buy even 0.01 BTC (1$)

Yes but lets  say me and a group of people would like to buy 1 Bitcoin. How would we as a group do this and have it evenly divided among us in an automated fashion?

lol Group of 4 people buy BTC 0.25 each, group of 10 people buy BTC 0.1 each, just change the send to wallet address.
1256  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: First BFL ASIC! on: April 04, 2013, 06:56:51 PM
Yeah, boycott me because I got a device I paid for. Makes so much sense.

Do you agree that the bet was lost?

Like I said, I'll probably have them ship it to me when the rest of my order is ready to go as well. I certainly prefer they NOT ship it until at least the next difficulty adjustment Wink

Well he agrees it wasn't "shipped" straight from the horses mouth. Cheesy

It never left the BFL building, "co-location" was not the bet.
1257  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL RIP OFF... price up 90%, 50GH/s for 2499$. on: April 04, 2013, 06:49:15 PM
ITT: People who pre-ordered and canceled or didn't pre-order at all, whining that they missed the boat.  Grin
What boat?

The BTC 75 ($10,000 today) boat.  Wink

The least they could do is accept only BTC payment, like Avalon, and provide demand for Bitcoins.
1258  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL RIP OFF... price up 90%, 50GH/s for 2499$. on: April 04, 2013, 06:42:32 PM
What are they going to do with all those Mini Rigs Boxes with Fans? Refurbish? Devices to cool down all the hot air from Loudmouth Josh Zerlan / BFL?

They can fill them with all those trade in FPGA Singles. Someone will still buy a 25Gh/s FPGA Mini Rig if it's "in stock".
1259  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL RIP OFF... price up 90%, 50GH/s for 2499$. on: April 04, 2013, 06:14:40 PM
I love how BFL is doing everything that Team Avalon is doing...

Except you know, actually shipping a product.

This +1  Cheesy
1260  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can some one Clear up if a single BFL asic has been shiped or seen working on: April 04, 2013, 05:37:47 PM

Thank you.  Somewhat remarkably, after posting that, they reduced their specs and raised their prices.  Hmm.

Chalk it up to supply and demand: The more people who pre-order, the less there are available for the next guy, hence the increase in price to be fair to all and to protect the network.

Raising the price to late entrants kinda makes it look like a Ponzi scheme though.
But at least we didn't have to listen to stories about how every ASIC they produce is their baby and they don't want them going to untrusting owners.
LOL (Avalon Adoption Agency)  Cheesy
