1261  Economy / Economics / Re: [Article] Good job, internet: You bullied NFTs out of mainstream games on: January 04, 2023, 11:05:37 AM
The NFT hype died because almost all NFT projects are scams, not because the crypto markets are facing a crypto winter.
If the decline of cryptocurrency prices was the main reason, then we should be witnessing more ICO tokens right now, because obviously all ICOs died due to the 2018 bear market, not because they were 99% scams. Grin
NFTs had a cool concept(in theory) which failed in reality, because no NFT owner can protect his NFT from being copied and used without his permission. Perhaps the NFTs will be replaced by a better system in the future. A system, that actually protects copyright.
P2E games are a ponzi scam, nobody can change my mind. Just look at the Youtube channel "Coffeezila" and his investigation against Logan Paul.
1262  Economy / Gambling / Re: Coinballer - An open-source multi-player Bitcoin gambling game. on: January 04, 2023, 07:19:30 AM
Do you want to make this as an actual gambling business or you are simply experimenting?
This forum thread seems kinda lazy for a serious gambling website.
Your concept isn't new and there were multiple games trying to copy the same concept.
I wonder how do you plan to stand out from the crowd and offering something, that's never seen before.
Your website looks clean and simply, but it lacks uniqueness.
Good luck with this project, but I'm not an optimist.

1263  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Etsy - but with Bitcoin on: January 04, 2023, 06:59:17 AM
You can do a Google search instead of asking here.
The funny thing is that when you type "Bitcoin marketplace for goods and services" 90% of the search results are crypto exchange platforms.
I've found websites like Bitmpremier.com and cryptothrift.com. The first one is claiming to be a Bitcoin marketplace for luxury items and the second one claims to be "the eBay of Bitcoin". I don't think that those websites have big amounts of traffic and a large userbase. I wouldn't use them, because they don't seem trustworthy, I don't want to spend my BTC on stuff I don't need.
Many of the older Bitcoiners remember Openbazaar, which failed to become a functional BTC marketplace.
1264  Other / Off-topic / Re: Does money bring you security ? on: January 03, 2023, 11:36:37 AM
Anxiety and fear are two different things. I can say that anxiety can be way worse than fear, because it's a condition that is pretty much genetically determined.
What is most important in life is to not get attached too much to material possessions. The existential suffering is caused by the desire for various things-money, power, even women. Controlling your desires will help you take control over your anxiety.
Money brings a false sense of security, but nobody is safe from accidents and nobody knows how and when death will come our way.
You can be poor and feel secure, while there are rich people, who will always feel insecure. My point is that our state of mind has little to do with our financial situation.
1265  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is playing national lottery smart or waste of time? on: January 03, 2023, 07:19:12 AM
Quote
My view on big, often state-owned lotteries is they're designed mainly for 2 reasons: to make a profit and as a social tool that sells dreams of instant life change and massive wealth to the masses to keep them in line.

I don't agree with this.
1.The government-owned lottery in my country is using a big part of it's revenue to fund national sports federations, not to make profits.
Many state-owned lotteries are using their revenue for charity projects or funding local theathers.
2.The "dream selling" part is done mostly by the casinos/sports betting platforms in the private gambling sector. From my point of view, the national state-owned lotteries aren't as good at marketing, in comparison to the private sector.
Perhaps the second reason for the existence of state-owned lotteries is that they keep a lot of people away from the more addictive forms of gambling. After all, lottery gambling is way more harmless than wasting your money in a casino and becoming a gambling addict.
1266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will it be profitable for the business? on: January 03, 2023, 06:45:20 AM
Let's say that you accept payment in a random fiat currency, like Russian rubble for example. Will this be profitable for your business?
The whole idea, that accepting payments in a new currency would be "profitable" for a certain business seems ridiculous to me.
Profit equals the revenue minus the costs. Do your own calculation and see the results. What would be the cost of accepting BTC payments
and how your overall revenue will increase after accepting BTC payments(or will it decline)?
Do you want to convert the BTC into fiat right away, or do you plan to HODL the BTC and wait for a higher price?
What is your business and are there any crypto enthusiasts among your customers?

1267  Economy / Economics / Re: Every passing year seems progressively worse on: January 02, 2023, 11:09:11 AM
Living in interesting times is a curse, according to the Chinese.
What makes life interesting is the amount of problems we solve and the obstacles we overcome along the way. Life would've been way more boring and pointless, if everything was just fine and there weren't any difficulties.
There were wars, natural disasters and economic downturns since the dawn of the human civilization. It would be really stupid and naive to think that there won't be any wars, natural disasters and economic downturns in the future.
Maybe we should develop a stoic mindset and learn not to be preoccupied by the negative news, because the bad news are what drives the mainstream media. You know the saying "good news isn't news".
1268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BANKMAN-FRIED PANIC GAMBLES TO REPAY DEBT on: January 02, 2023, 07:50:37 AM
1.This might be fake news.
2.If this news is actually true, then SBF is an idiot. So many people in the crypto world praised Bankman-Fried as some kind of genius. It seems like SBF is the complete opposite of a genius. Grin
We can't predict what is happening in a desperate person's mind. Some people start acting totally dumb and irrational, when they lose control over the situation in their lives.
SBF could've pumped &dumped some dead shitcoin in order to recover some of the losses. FTX/Alameda had enough money to do such thing.
The profits would have been way bigger. I know it's unethical and probably illegal, but doing such thing is way smarter than wasting millions of dollars on gambling. Grin
1269  Other / Off-topic / Re: Get to know the Child Phase before teaching Bitcoin and Financial Management. on: January 02, 2023, 07:11:10 AM
1.I don't think that anyone is going to teach his kid about Bitcoin/crypto/blockchain technology/hashrate/mining/desentralisation/cold wallets when the kid is under 15 years old. Grin
2. Kids in the teenage phase(13-19) tend to be really rebellious and they question the authority of the their parents all the time. Teaching a teenager about Bitcoin/crypto could be double edged sword, because the teenager might decide that Bitcoin/crypto is something related to the older generations, which means something uncool.
3.The kids must receive proper knowledge about the fiat financial system first, before getting into the world of crypto.
4.The kids should be educated about the potential dangers of the NFTs, Play2Earn games and all other sorts of "shiny object" crypto scams.
1270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price, January. $20000 or above possible? on: January 01, 2023, 11:43:37 AM
It's not just the FTX implosion. You forgot to mention the Terra/Luna, Three Arrow Capital, Voyager and all the rest.
The crypto world really seemed like a house of cards with all those companies, who were borrowing coins by offering unrealistically high returns. The 2020/2021 price pumps/bull runs really seemed like a price bubble and the bubble popped in 2022. Now, we are waiting for the next price bubble, but there's no demand that will pump the price.
The Bitcoin price would most likely stay below 20K during the entire winter. Maybe the spring will be a little bit bullish(it depends of the global situation) but I don't expect nothing radical. The summer of 2023 will be a continuation of the crypto winter and I expect the price to stay in the 12-18K levels until the end of 2023.
1271  Economy / Economics / Re: The world continues dumping US dollar (Gold, New World Order, World War III) on: January 01, 2023, 11:12:17 AM
Some countries are dumping the US dollar as a reserve currency, not as an international medium of exchange.
The global recession is coming and it's normal for the central banks(and all kinds of private and institutional investors) to buy more gold(which is the ultimate safe heaven). The US dollar cannot be viewed as a safe heaven. I'm curious about the Russian-Chinese alternative to the US dominated financial system. So far we haven't seen anything that looks like a complete replacement of the US dollar. I don't think that China is ready to dump the US dollar. I agree that the Federal Reserve keeps exporting inflation outside the USA and I agree that the USD dominance cannot continue forever.
1272  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: DUCKDICE.IO FRADULANT CASINO EVER [DEAD SUPPORT CENTER] on: January 01, 2023, 07:26:41 AM
I'm sorry about your loss, but I don't understand how did you manage to lose 53K so fast?
Did you lose the money by gambling or the guy, who stole your phone had entered your account and withdrawn the money?
Anyway, I assume that big crypto casinos have a very buzzy customer support teams. I can't say whether or not Duckdice is a scam casino, I've never tried them before. 53K USD is a big amount, did you call the police or try to get a good lawyer? Do you plan on suing Duckdice?
Posting here on the forum won't solve your issue. It might help other people on being more cautious when dealing with a particular crypto casino, but it won't help you in any way.
1273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is left of Bitcoin as a tool to free the financial world on: January 01, 2023, 06:54:07 AM
Day by day the bitcoin price is declining. It seems that the price these days is largely dictated by miners that constantly sell coins and investors that hope for future profits. That is also what most topics in this forum are about. What I see less and less are post about how bitcoin can be used for its intended purpose that is "A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash" to send "online payments (..) directly from one party to another".
Are people even willing to still follow these idea or is bitcoin doomed to be a place for profit gamblers that will slowly loose its relevance?

I wouldn't say that the Bitcoin price is "declining day by day". There were several price drops, but the price right now is kinda stable at 15-16K USD. Maybe it will drop below 10K USD, but the real HODLers don't care that much about future price drops.
Most of the posts in this forum are about the Bitcoin price because that's what 99% of the Bitcoiners are interested about.
If you wanna use Bitcoin for it's intended purpose, just use it. It's no rocket science to setup a cold wallet and send/receive Bitcoins directly.
Do we really need a thousand tutorials about such a simple thing on the forum?
The "profit gamblers" aren't investing in Bitcoin only, they invest in the stocks markets, FOREX, precious metals, etc. The entire global finance is "casino capitalism", but only Bitcoin is being blamed for being a "gambling tool". This seems unfair to me.
1274  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: December 30, 2022, 07:33:50 AM
1.Why are you making a forum thread about an event, that is about to happen after 4 years? Isn't it too early to discuss the World Cup 2026?
Why don't we discuss Euro 2024? Grin
2.I like the idea of the next World Cup tournaments being hosted by several countries, instead of one county. This will cut the costs and there won't be any unnecessary investments in new stadiums, which won't be used that much after the World Cup ends.
However, the distances in the USA, Canada and Mexico are quite big and the teams will have to travel a lot.
1275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ethgames.fun ! no deposit required on: December 30, 2022, 06:56:25 AM
Hi folks,

Just stumbled on an interesting on-chain gambling site, you can directly bet ETH using your MetaMask wallet, without depositing funds  Shocked

https://ethgames.fun/pokerdice.html
https://ethgames.fun/twodices.html

They offer x50 times your initial bet
Have fun.

1.Your post looks as if you are promoting this website. You have to disclose any connection with the websites you are posting here.
2. Isn't betting directly from your Metamask wallet and depositing funds basically the same? I mean that it doesn't matter how your deposit the funds, what matters is will you get paid when you win. Grin
3. This "x50 times your initial bet" looks sketchy as hell. I really wish some big and trusted crypto casino to offer such "50 times your initial bet" bonus, but this simply won't happen, because the casino would lose a lot of money, if some random gambler placed a winning bet.
1276  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Holding could be better on: December 29, 2022, 11:58:39 AM
Many traders are too afraid to HODL Bitcoins for 1 or 2 years.
Some traders are selling their BTC for stablecoins and waiting for the next Bitcoin bull market. I'm not a fan of stablecoins in general, but this seems like way to protect the value of their portfolio, if the BTC price drops below 10K USD. The first downside of this tactic is that many traders would just keep their stablecoins in centralized exchanges(which is risky, FTX is the best example), the second downside is the stablecoin prices crashing, due to the developers lying about the actual reserves(Terra/Luna).
Perhaps a better way would be to just sell BTC for fiat and keep the fiat. The problem here is the high inflation, which will devalue all fiat money.
In summary, there's no win-win situation here.
I'm not a fan of altcoin/shitcoin day trading, especially in times of a bear market.
1277  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 50% Down Move Incoming? on: December 29, 2022, 11:28:48 AM
I don't want to compare the current situation on the Bitcoin market with the 2018-2019 market. In 2018-2019, the bearish market lasted several months and the price started growing from 4K to 8-10K USD during the spring of 2019. I don't expect a massive price growth in the spring of 2023. The crypto winter will continue to 2025 and even beyond.
There's no point of drawing conclusions based on price patterns, that happened years ago. Of course that the possibility of the Bitcoin price dropping down to 8K USD is real. It's a bear market after all. A global recession is coming and the FUD is everywhere. The big investors simply don't see Bitcoin as a safe heaven.
1278  Economy / Economics / Re: Save your environmental economic cycle on: December 29, 2022, 07:49:02 AM
Quote
If you are a person who has money to shop for daily needs, I suggest you buy from merchants around you instead of shopping online whose stores are far from your place. This must be done to turn the wheels of the economy in your neighbourhood and save them from bankruptcy, at least you give them space to live.

I don't think that I can "save the small businesses in my town" with my money. This won't be enough.
Please don't try to mix economy with charity. Grin
I will happily buy goods and services from the small businesses in my area, if they sell really good products and provide good services.
I won't buy their products and services, just because I feel sorry for them. The economy doesn't work that way.
What do you mean by "daily needs"? Do you mean food? Who the hell is buying food online? Do you mean services like Doordash?
I think that businesses like Doordash are using the services of local restaurants, which means that buying food from Doordash proves that you are actually supporting the local economy in your area.
1279  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the motives that drive you to gamble? on: December 29, 2022, 07:25:08 AM
I do not know about you guys, but I gamble because I like it and because it is a hobby as well as an addiction. I'm good with myself, as I already admitted to having an addiction but tried to find and apply techniques to avoid getting off track and spending all of my money on gambling. It's quite easy for me to control my gambling anxiety as I already follow strict rules that help me stay on the line.

What about you guys? Do you have any addiction to gambling? What drives you to gamble? Is it the long shot of having a big profit coming in or is gambling simply a way of spending time for you?

My biggest motives are escapism and having fun. I don't gamble to make big money. This is simply delusional.
I don't have an addiction to gambling. I could stay away from gambling games for months, without any problems. I'm glad that you can control your addiction. Maybe you could share some tips and tricks, in order to help some gambling addicts, who are reading the forum.

To be honest, although I am not addicted to gambling, but sometimes I allow myself to play several times, so to speak, just to once again confirm for myself that I really am not a successful gambling player.

Is there such a thing as a "successful gambling player"? Grin Successful gamblers would be the worst nightmare of all casinos. Grin
All casinos want "unsuccessful" gamblers. Grin Professional poker players(the ones, who are actually good at poker) are more like sports players, rather than actual gamblers.
1280  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would Satoshi Do (today) on: December 29, 2022, 06:48:27 AM
What would satoshis vision be today? Vision on the ecosystem be different? Cross/side chains...bridges? Or more so just very simple economy p2p txs? So no massive amounts of apps/services/games etc? There are things C does well, just like Haskell, and solidity.. I wonder if THEY would ever come to terms with interoperability. BTC, Ethereum, and Cardano (c  ,solidity, haskell) have some great things coming along.

Why don't you find him and ask him? Grin
How can we possibly read Satoshi's mind, when he's gone and missing for years?
Maybe he is against Bitcoin turning into a speculative asset and maybe he is against PoS coins. Who knows?
What are the great things going along ethereum? Being the core platform of all the ICO, NFT, "insert random crypto buzzword" scams that have been stealing people's coins in all those years? Turning into a centralized shitcoin? Ethereum had some good things like smart contracts and Dapps, but it's getting from bad to worse recently.
