621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What type of advice is worth giving such people? on: September 12, 2023, 06:10:23 AM
I have read some painful stories online about Bitcoin fans that lost their Bitcoin to hacks more than once and how they gave up because of the hacks, this made me curious about people on the forum, I will like to ask you guys how many times you have lost Bitcoin to hacks or your own mistakes, and why are you still not giving up.

Can you keep buying bitcoin if you have already get hacked like twice or more in the past?

Like a story about an American who lost his love for Bitcoin because of the hacks, I believe it's because of his own carelessness though, because you can't leave your wallet on a bench outside your home and not expect someone to steal it, and you come out and say your wallet was stolen by a thief, like what do expect?

What advice is worth passing out to people who have lost their Bitcoin more than once and are on the hedge of giving up?

I have never lost any Bitcoins/crypto due to being hacked. I can't guarantee that my PC won't get hacked in the future.
I don't know what's the feeling of losing big amounts of BTC just because your computer was hacked. It probably sucks.
Nobody is 100% safe online, but the big difference is the crypto transactions being irreversible. If somebody hacks your bank account, you just call the bank and the bank might refund your money(after they conduct an investigation). If your BTC/crypto wallet gets hacked, your coins are lost forever. Maybe that's why the victims of crypto scams and hacks get disappointed of Bitcoin.

Once a path to currency usage becomes clear, Bitcoin will thus become a reliable store of value. Not before - before it will be subject to the same wild swings we've seen in the past years.

We are waiting for this to happen in the last several years and it isn't happening.
You have the assumption that once BTC becomes an actual currency, everything will be fine and there won't be any problems with BTC.
The problem is that most of the Bitcoiners don't want BTC to become an actual currency. They simply want to buy BTC at 20K and sell it at 100K USD. As long as they have this kind of mentality, Bitcoin will never become a true currency and it will always stay in the category of speculative financial assets.
I will never stop repeating the same question over and over again. If Bitcoin was so awesome and so much better than the fiat payment systems, then why didn't everyone in the world just dump fiat and use BTC?
The answer seems obvious. The fiat payment systems aren't that bad and Bitcoin isn't perfect.

But I have learned other things too... Like variance is the worst enemy for casinos (Big bets winning while low bets losing), and streaks come like waves. So, lose while betting low and win while betting win. I know is easy to say but we don't know when the next good wave will come. That's why we should add some chaos to our strategy.

"Chaos" and "strategy" are two words that shouldn't be added in the same sentence. Grin
Having an actual strategy excludes the possibility of relying on random results(or chaos as you say).
I agree that big bets that are winning are the worst enemy of every casino, but in the long run almost all bets are losing and the casinos try everything they can to keep the gamblers playing and betting as long as possible. The worst enemy of every casino is the gambler, who wins big, withdraws his money/coins and leaves the casino. Grin
I don't agree that winning steaks come like waves. This isn't statistically proven and it seems more like a gambler's delusion to me.
624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ted Cruz is a ‘Big Believer’ In Bitcoin Mining on: September 11, 2023, 05:44:08 AM
Why Ted Cruz is talking about Bitcoin mining only? Wasn't altcoin mining more profitable than Bitcoin mining?
From a neutral point of view, crypto mining is just the same. If doesn't matter if the miners are using their equipment to mine BTC or altcoins.
In times of peak solar energy production, the grid requires peak energy consumption as well. The crypto miners consume electricity for mining, but they also consume electricity for cooling down the mining equipment. The problem is that all this electricity is just wasted away(according to the crypto haters). Why not use that electricity for the producing actual goods instead of mining crypto? That's a valid question the crypto haters keep asking.
Anyway, this seems like yet another politician shilling for Bitcoin without any clear reason for him to do so.

My friend Will send goverment wich one i don't say the project to start teaching young kids in School about future of Money.like TRON USDT TRC20
Crypto is future when Youngi generation will start learn about Stablecoins.
Teach all ready your kids to keep their trx balance up If they want to pay with USDT tron Stablecoins.
Once young generaton will adopt Stablecoins knowledge we get to going and rock.
Stablecoins are here to stay and Donald trump Will approve them for the. World.

So young people need to be teached how to use USDT USDC and other Stablecoins it's our duty to teach them so faster they adopt the faster all move into Full crypto economy

Why do I have the feeling that this forum user is an alt account of another guy, who was spamming the Economics forum with posts about stablecoins and especially the Tron blockchain. Is this an alt account of the forum user Shortmaster? Just take a look at Shortmaster's posts-all of them are a bunch of nonsense about stablecoins and praising the Tron blockchain. I don't know what's the purpose of the guy, who is behind those two forum accounts. Is he getting paid for writing a bunch of low quality posts here? I don't think so. Is he trolling? Probably yes.

New casinos also comes with baggages likes

1. Experiencing several issues like game loading or lagging.

2. Experiencing errors when trying to deposit or make withdrawal.

3. Lower withdrawal limits.

4. Limited currencies accepted, most prefer Fiat still.

5. Lack of games collection due to limited software providers.

6. Lack of online reviews about them, some even have their ways with fake reviews.

Not all new casinos have these issues. However, having such issues clearly shows that the team behind the new casino is unprofessional.
It's OK to have limited currencies or limited games in the beginning. This isn't such a big deal for the gamblers, if the casino design is good and the customer support is active and willing to help. I have always preferred quality over quantity, so a legit casino with 10 good games is better than a shady/sketchy casino offering 1000 games.
Fake reviews can be spotted and I'm sure that any casino owner, that has an announcement thread on Bitcointalk will have to answer some uncomfortable questions, if the Bitcointalk users find out about that particular casino having fake reviews.

https://protos.com/owner-of-8k-bitcoin-lost-in-landfill-threatens-to-bankrupt-local-council/

I think him lashing out at the city council and threatening to sue them doesn't make bitcoin look good. wherever his hard drive is, if it's in that trash dump i don't see how even a data recovery expert could get anything off of it. it's probably been crushed, cracked, corroded, etc. lost cause. his big mistake was throwing it away in the first place but that was his fault no one elses. he lost those bitcoin a long time ago. and they're not coming back.  Shocked

Well, Bitcoin has nothing to do with this. The guy would have at least stored his private keys/seed phrase in a piece of paper inside his house.
This guy is blaming someone else for his own mistake. It's like forgetting a bag with 1 million US dollars in the subway and blaming the city council for your own stupidity. Some people really lose their minds, when it comes to money. Yeah, I know it sucks to lose such big amount of money, but the only thing to go is to just try to continue living with the regret and move on with your life. Those Bitcoins are gone for good.
628  Economy / Gambling / Re: No KYC Crypto Casinos & Sites | NoToKYC.com | Exclusive Bonuses on: September 08, 2023, 08:43:00 AM
How can a NO KYC casino get a Curacao gambling license? Isn't KYC a requirement for getting a gambling license?
It would be nice if you add gambler feedback about which NO KYC casinos are trustworthy and which ones scammed their players in the past.
The problem is that many casinos don't require KYC right after signup but only after the gambler initiates a withdrawal. This seems like a misleading business practice to me, but almost all crypto casinos are doing it.
Anyway, good luck with this project, OP.
629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How bitcoin self custody will help reduce future bear market. on: September 08, 2023, 07:47:31 AM
Quote
And for me, this action is going to bring about long-term stability and a minimal occurrence of a bear market most especially a market crash-like bear condition, because if a large number of Bitcoin holders move their Bitcoin into the cold wallet, it will reduce the over depends and trust issues that have to accompany exchange usage/ centralized non-custodial.

That's not true. The Bitcoin price is (and always will be) determined by the trading volume of all crypto exchanges(most of them are centralized). The amount of BTC stored in cold wallets doesn't play any role in determining the BTC price.
More coins into cold wallets means less trading volume and market liquidity in the Bitcoin market. Less trading volume means that it would be easier for the price to drop, when there's a drop in the demand for Bitcoins.
There's no way for the Bitcoin price to become stable. The limited supply plus unstable demand are what makes the price volatile. It doesn't matter if most people are holding their BTC in cold wallets or hot wallets.

When our brain believes there will be a positive outcome, it releases endorphins,

I'm not an expert in this field, but your statement seems wrong to me.
Our brains release endorphins AFTER a positive experience or outcome, not before that. The expectation of a positive outcome doesn't necessarily lead to our brains releasing endorphins.
Controlling your emotions is easier said than done. I don't believe that emotional control is the most important thing when it comes to winning more at gambling. You could make perfectly logical bets and still lose money. We have to remember that gambling is about luck, not about emotions and logic. Just keep making small bets and gambler for fun. That's my way of dealing with my emotions while gambling.
631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alteration of bitcoin 21M cap: Is it possible, necessary or needless? on: September 07, 2023, 06:04:42 AM

What do you have to say about a sudden alteration of the bitcoin 21 million cap perhaps in the future. Do you think it should ever be increased ?

What would an increment mean to you? And can an alteration of the supply limit spell a disaster as some opined

The actual total supply is lower than 21 million, because several million BTC were lost in wallets, that cannot be recovered.
Changing the total supply requires consensus among miners and developers. I don't think that such consensus will be reached anytime soon.
Do we really need such change? Can't we just rename the satoshi to Bitcoin and measure everything in renamed satoshis? This way one Bitcoin will be worth less than one cent and the newbies will stop freaking out every time the BTC price drops. Grin
If you want a cryptocurrency with a bigger total supply, just choose an altcoin.

Ticket taxes:
In Germany the tax for a sold ticket for an event (sports, entertainment, cinema, zoo, ...) is 19 percent. So if you sell 1,000 tickets for 10 Euro you have to pay 1,900 Euro and make a profit of 8,100 Euro after taxes.

NFT taxes:
In Germany the tax for a sold NFT is handled individual, but mostly up to 45 percent. So if you sell 1,000 NFT's for 10 Euro you have to pay up to 4,500 Euro and make a profit of 5,500 Euro after taxes....

What kind of ticket tax is this? Do you mean Value Added Tax(or VAT)?
I guess that this NFT tax is a weird form of capital gains tax, or maybe a revenue tax, which is different from the VAT. The rule of NFTs being tax free if they are sold more than 365 days of holding them seems weird to me. Are you saying that the German authorities are incentivizing the people to hold more NFTs? I'm surprised that NFTs aren't banned in Germany and the rest of the EU countries.
What if the authorities decide that those NFTs are tickets? I can assume that your weird tax evasion scheme won't work because the tax authorities aren't that dumb.

But it's more on the general opinion when top casinos are hacked

 - Do you think that big casinos can survive hacking because they have enough funds stored elsewhere

 - When they assured that users are safe do you believe it or is it just a way to keep their status in the industry intact

 - When top casinos are hacked and they still operate and still  into their business without interruption do you believe that

 - Top casinos should be our priority because small casinos cannot operate normally after the hacking.

 -  Do you believe that there will be more hacking after the top casinos?

 - Do you think gamblers will stop playing for the time being after this is all settled?

Do you really believe that Stake was hacked?
How the hell can you hack an online casino? I don't hear news about online casinos getting hacked very often.
Somebody, who has access to the casino wallets stole the coins. I guess that this must be someone from Stake employees, or this is just an exit scam disguised as "hack".
I think that no business can survive without enough funds and liquidity. The fact that Stake had concentrated lots of coins in one wallet shows incompetence.
I also think that the gamblers should stay away from casinos, that were "hacked". It doesn't matter if they were hacked for real, or this is just an exit scam disguised as "being hacked".

So, why would anyone choose to pay with crypto from their papal account when I can use a normal card and pay none of the fees?

This is starting to become infuriating, for real!
Bitcoin started as a "A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash".

I agree that this doesn't make any sense at all. If the Department of Motor Vehicles was so pro-crypto, they will simply add BTC/altcoin addresses and accept crypto payments directly. I guess that they have added Paypal as a payment gateway mostly because Paypal payments can be reversed. Maybe that's why the Paypal fees are high.
It's too late to complain about Bitcoin failing to become a direct peer-to-peer electronic cash system. Crypto exchanges and crypto payment gateways like Bitpay became a thing years ago. Yes, they are "middlemen", but at least they add better customer convenience.

OP, would you mind telling us why did you post this basic info about inflation and currency devaluation?
Is there any reason behind this decision? Grin
Most of the people in the forum know a thing or two about macroeconomics and finance. Do you want to educate anyone? Are you simply sharing a bunch of generic thoughts? Are trying to boost your post count by writing low quality posts?
Sharing obvious conclusions like "the sun is hot" or "water is wet" have the same amount of logic like the conclusion that "inflation makes fiat money less valuable". Do you have any other genius and groundbreaking discoveries to share with us?
636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Give Him a loan Or Partner With Him on: September 05, 2023, 06:11:11 AM
What would be the best option if a friend who happens to be good at horse racing lost his fortune coming from betting in horse racing because of illness and came to you and asked for a loan and honestly stated that he wants to use it betting in horse racing to recover his fortune.

But you have doubts because he is away betting horse racing for a long period of time and he might lose the money because you have to be updated on the conditions of the horses, jockeys, and the many handicaps, and his anxiety about recovering his fortune might fail he offers you two options loan him money or just partner with him.

What's your best course of action in this scenario?

A common friend confided this to me.

I wouldn't give him any money. Period. What do you mean by "partnership"? You both split the cost of the bets and then split the profits?
Such type of partnership still doesn't seem reasonable to me.
I don't care how good he is at betting in horse racing(or any other gambling activity). Gambling is extremely risky and I don't trust people, who claim to be good at gambling games. Even the best gamblers had suffered great losses and there's no way for anyone to provide consistent profits out of gambling.
If your friend had lost his fortune, that's his problem, not yours. He must get a job, work hard, save some money and start gambling again with his own savings. If he wins, that's great. If he loses, that's his fault

Finance: The World Economic Forum suggests that blockchain could store 10% of global GDP by 2027, reshaping traditional finance.

The blockchain cannot "store" GDP, because GDP is the cumulative amount of goods and services, that were sold in a certain time time(usually one year). I guess that those analysts mean that the blockchain could store financial assets, that will be valued at around 10% of the global GDP by 2027. This is still very optimistic and I don't share the same expectations.
I'm also not very optimistic about the utility of blockchain technology. If blockchain technology was so awesome, then why all the businesses in the world didn't start using it since 5 or 10 years ago. I'm beginning to believe some crypto haters, who say that blockchain technology is just a "glorified database". Everything you could do with the blockchain can be done by using a simple online database.

Real Madrid should be thankful to Getafe's goalkeeper for their win. Bellingham was simply in the right place at the right time.
I really don't know how Real will be able to compete against Barca for the La Liga trophy in this season. Real is having difficulties scoring goals against teams that aren't very strong. Barca scored 4 goals against Villareal, but they have troubles in defense and allowed the yellow team to score three goals. I'm not impressed by Lewandowski's performance. He scored the winning goal, but that was a pretty easy goal.

Bitcoin is the most reliable digital currency that everything in the world today should move closer to, but the greediness and power in men won't let them.

They can't control it, and that's why they hate it.

Being decentralized is a part why the government should embrace Bitcoin in the world today, it's the only digital currency that can bring peace if allowed as a means of payment around the country.

Well, it's theoretically possible for the governments and central banks to control Bitcoin. They could simply buy more mining equipment and/or buy more BTC and manipulate the price. The only reason they don't do it is because it's expensive and kinda meaningless.
I don't know about Bitcoin (or any digital currency) bringing peace. No currency in the world could "bring peace".
If one Bitcoin would cost more tomorrow than it costs today, then what's the point of spending your precious BTC for goods and services?
If Bitcoin was so awesome, then why every business in the world hasn't adopted it yet?
