What are our targeting options?

Congratulations everyone! We made it to page 1,000! The DigiByte community rocks!

In honor of reaching page 1,000 we would like to release this video! Please share it with everyone you know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmDyhKOjNKM

I like to say that the multi-algo fork marked a before and after, and I think we have another before and after with this video.

This video marks the day when DigiByte adopted a bona fide corporate image.

Love that voice! Where have I heard it before?   Smiley  Smiley  Smiley

Add: Now we've just got to get it distributed !!!

I could run a payd advertisement on the Digibyte Facebook. I will run the first 10$.  Is there anyone willing to donate a litle?

That bounty we shared a while back that we were going to use for a tipping campaign or something like that? You can put all my share towards the paid advertisement. Great idea!

Thanks for the support guys but the command line gives me the error: Invalid private key encoding (code -5)

... I'm thinking maybe it's in a different form of encryption?

By the looks of the error code, and the fact that nothing can be found on the subject, I'd say you're probably right.

Please keep the community updated on this. You're not the only one who's learning! Wink

We're all learning, and the wallet(s) is(are) probably the most important thing(s) we all have to master!

Hi i'm just wondering if someone could help me. Until now i've been keeping my digicoins on bittrex, but now i'm getting a little aggitated because i have a lot of digi's stored on there.
I generated a digibyte address and private key on dgbaddress.org.
So now I have the private key, how would i import that into digibit or another wallet?
Digibit needs to import a .key file. I tried to make one with the same layout as a bitcoin wallet.key file but it doesnt work.
Also does anyone know a website where you can check a digibyte address balance? Like bitref for bitcoin?

We suggest not to use dgbaddress.org,We have not tested it to work 100%.

Please download a wallet that fits your requirements on http://digibyte.co/content/choose-your-digibyte-wallet

When you have downloaded the wallet it first needs to sync with the network and after that you can see and use the Digibyte address.
You can now send your Digibytes from Bittrex to your wallet. Please make sure you back-up your wallet at all times.

You can look for your Digibyte address at http://digiexplorer.info/
If you need any further help please let us know.

Thanks dude, but i've already sent the coins to the address like an idiot Sad is there any way to sweep the key by knowing the private key?

Another resource that may be of use:

Guys,

My android wallet keeps crashing when I start it.  Is there any way to backup my keys without using the actual wallet?

thanks!

Did you send any Digibytes to the wallet?
Did you try to take out your battery and restart?

I dont think there is a way to backup your keys without a wallet.
Maybe try to find the files on your phone. Copy them to your computer.Delete Digibyte wallet and download a new wallet and then replace your files. (Risky)

I think there are coins in the wallet yes.  It's coins that were on Mintpal when it exploded, but when you could still withdraw.  Unfortunately I was never able to verify since the wallet crashed on opening.  This problem is long going by now.  I hoped it would resolve with updates on the wallet, but it was not.  Meanwhile my device is upgraded from android 4 to android 5.1 (nexus 4), but that also didnt help.

I also did some research to see if it is possible to get the files from the device, but little is to be found.  Too bad its not just a wallet.dat file you could copy from the device

Did you ever back up the wallets keys at any point?

You will need to root your phone if you havent already. Then look for the following folders.

Code:
/data/data/de.schildbach.wallet.digibyte/

and copy key-backup-base58 onto the pc or somewhere it can be opened like a text file. It should list all your private keys.

http://www.xda-developers.com/root/

If your device is new and still under warranty, be advised that rooting voids most warranties . . .

Perhaps we should consider moving the digibyte wallet to /android/data/ (with the rest of the normal apps) in the next version to be released.

I'm not advocating that you do root your phone only that it maybe possible as a last solution. If you backup your keys then they are usually then stored on the SD card and there would be no need for root.

If you do experience a crash and you are able to send us a log of what happened then please do! It helps us fix problems like this in future updates.

Yes, the previous (and continually updated) backup is extremely important, I agree. I also agree that rooting should be used as a last solution! Even then one must weigh the "costs/risks" with the "benefits": if you've only lost a few coins it might not be worth the trouble and/or loss of warranty (for example, if you're like the guy who lost 30 BTC, then you obviously go for it, but if you're talking about spending change, then things change). KitKat is a bit more complicated still than Jelly Bean was, for whatever reason, with the most popular reason being that the manufacturers want to make rooting more difficult. If you have two phones, one preferably out of warranty, then you could have some fun testing . . .  Wink

In any event, I think we should consider moving the digibyte wallet to /android/data/ in the next version to be released in order to make recovery easier (if/when it's necessary).

Can't you access your wallet.dat with a fileexplorer? The wallet has to store it's data somewhere, right?

I wish it was that simple.  Unfortunately the android wallet doesnt work that way.  I tried to locate the wallet file(s) but could not find anything Sad

That's a little scary.

Also can you also use a QR-scanner to pay online perhaps? this would be much faster and much easier than Paypal, creditcard etc.

Yes you can.

You're right. It is much faster and easier.

This leads us to an important point that needs to be leveraged to the hilt: it has been said that the process of buying DGB is so cumbersome that it's hard to reasonably expect people to make the effort, but if we show people just how fast and easy DGB is used after aquiring them, that might change their minds about the necessary purchase formalities.

Additionally, with price stable like it is, the fear factor of holding something that is incapable of holding its own value should diminish, and that should be positively reinforced by a steady uptrend that I hope begins to take shape.

@DigiByte, it's great to see you taking a more active/proactive role - remember, you're the leader of the club . . .  Wink

The recent miss communication for the "hangout" talk was an error in scheduling the correct time zone Saturday morning Hong Kong time on my part. It does appear that the talk may not have been as professional and organized as we were hoping for, but none the less we are open to answering questions in the future from interested parties.

Blocktalk is very short term in its thinking. They focus heavily on short term trading, frequently using terms like “pump”, “scalp” and “pullback”. If it's not something they've purchased, it's something they've quickly mined, as they play the game of quick initial mine and then almost immediate sell before the coin “dies”, as they like to say.

It's really the antithesis of DigiByte's philosophy.

They do value good devs though, which I must admit, but only within that initial speculative environment: if there's a good dev, then the coin is seen as a better buy(or mine) prospect, but only to sell as soon as you get even the most modest of profits.

So, they're okay for what they are: a sort of 2015 Wayne's World of short term crypto scalping.  Cheesy

I'm not saying that I didn't learn anything though. (Actually, for "newcomers", there's lots there to learn.) They're very knowledgeable about what they know, and modest as well.

I'll probably be following them regularly. You know, for what it's worth.  Smiley

It's been said over and over again, but we forget. DGB is the antithesis of pump and dump! It's a cryptographic digital currency that's in it for the long haul - a class act with very savvy priorities and decision making criteria as well, I might add.

A couple of posts on the subject to illustrate my point:

Greetings Everyone,

First off, we understand the frustration some people are feeling as we ourselves are a bit frustrated. However, some things are outside of our control and that is the reality of the situation. Nothing bad has happened, just a slight delay in the overall big picture. Rome was not built in a day. Smiley

We will not be giving any specific announcement dates in the future as that tends to cause problems when an unforseen delay is encountered. We also want to avoid any major pump and dumps. Our goal is to achieve a steady consistant rise.

We have several irons in the fire right now and there are some very exciting things in the works. We have never been more confident for DigiBytes future!

As stated before, we are in this for the long haul and we are working hard each and every day to make DigiBye better.

Feel free to let us know any questions or concerns you may have. We are here and we are listening. Thank you all for supporting DigiByte! Cheers!

DigiByte is officially turning 1 year old today! DigiByte was successfully launched on January 10th 2014 at 12 PM MST. This marks 12 months of consistent, committed development. As such we fit in perfectly on this list. We are here to stay for the long haul.

Over the course of the past 12 months DigiByte has endured 3 separate hard forks, several updates and a very turbulent alt coin market. Through all this DigiByte is emerging as a dedicated leader in the digital currency space. We are working on several exciting projects to push DigiByte forward in 2015 and we are very excited for what the future holds!

We are very committed to the long term success of DigiByte and we warmly welcome everyone into the Digibyte community!

. . . and the beat goes on!

I dont know what is happend and why he didnt turn up.
There is a reason for everything but yeah, I did promote it and and really thought that this could help Digibyte.Let's wait for an explenation.

Yeah, let's wait for an explanation - and I'm sure there's a good one . . . like, maybe not wanting to be associated with something that's very lame and unprofessional.

That could be the case.  Wink

Watching the show now.  Just passed the part that they where talking about there GF and having sex with eachother.

 Cheesy

There's a far cry between CNBC and a 2 bit hack's Blocktalk "debut".

Hello, I'm using GOOGLE translation, so I'll keep it short.

I am contacting you because I have a problem with my wallet DigiByte 64bit Core v3.0.3.0
My available balance appears to be 3,000,000, but I can't send more than 1.1 million to my other address.

my two addresses:
- http://www.richlist.eu/digibyte/stats/DAAVsbhoprWeQ2b4y4QDoZNZPLZCqi5ND8

If required I can also send you the transaction statement

Here are some screenshots :

Thanks for your help !

I think I have the answer! HR Thanks for your forum: http://asistec-ti.com/

"It means that your transaction size in bytes is too larger (bytes, not DigiBytes). In a nutshell, it has to do with the number of inputs that are going into your output. If your inputs are very small, the total number of DGB that you will be able to send will also be very small. ~675 inputs would be the maximum you could currently combine for an output send, so if you're mining with a CPU and you've got inputs of, let's say an average of 5 DGB, the most DGB you could send would be 3,375, and you'd pay 2 DGB just like you'd pay 2 DGB if your inputs were 1,000 and you were sending a total of 675,000 DGB. It all comes down to the number of bytes in each input and is completely independent of the DGB amount.
"

do you think it is that ??

That's right. You can use Coin Control to experiment on your own. It's a pretty neat tool. Ah, I see I have no HOW-TO for Coin Control.  Angry  I'll need to get that done the next chance I have . . . if anyone wants to post their pointers as well . . .

Glad to hear that the forum was a help. Thanks.

Add: I just started a Coin Control thread, but don't let that mislead you into thinking that I'll be able to do much more until Sunday maybe . . . or maybe the following weekend.   Undecided
1298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Hi number of rejects and hardware errors on Digihash on: May 07, 2015, 12:09:50 PM
Hi all, just wondering if someone can provide some input on issues we're seeing with mining on Digihash...

We've recently switched a couple of our mining rigs back to Digihash after running them on other pools without issue:

1st Rig: MinerEU Rig 90MH/s - I'm seeing a high number of rejects, far more than I see on P2Pools and other Stratum pools. I'm seeing about 3% rejects with this rig. Normal reject rate for this rig is usually around 0.1% on other pools. I'm running the 256 Network Difficulty option on Digihash (port 3257)

2nd Rig: Zues Lightning X6 44MH/s - I'm seeing a high number of rejects on this rig too, but I'm also seeing a very high number of hardware errors  compared to other pools. Again I'm running the 256 Network Difficulty option on Digihash (port 3257)

3rd Rig: I'm also running some lower hash rate blades on DigiHash, hardware errors are also unusually high on them, but reject rate is pretty good.

All devices are running an expiry = 120, queue = 0, and a scantime=30.

Are other people experiencing the same kind of stats on scrypt? Are we running too high of a network difficulty for the two larger rigs?

Cheers

Where are you located? Where were you mining before?

I suspect it's a latency issue, but your answers to those 2 questions are needed in order to confirm.

lots of good news but only a few buy orders...
everyone waiting for hard fork to happen ? or did i miss something

last few days only 3 btc buy  and 13 btc sell in orderbook
Are you sure it isn't the other way round. It looked like o0o0 picked up about 13 btc of DGB on his own.

And another 10btc incoming soon.

It's getting crowded in the top 5 positions of the richlist Roll Eyes

DMCFe6VYj8qF3pGyo2np7Vx8YevK4df4sj

This is me.... #6 on the list. Its a little inaccurate as my wallet has 56 Million DGB in it and my cryptsy account has another 6.5 Million DGB in it. Think some are in different receive address inputs.

With another 10BTC invested i'll be rank #5. Too hard to get to #1 as i don't run mining on DGB anymore but i'm happy to remain in the top 5.

DGB will go to 1000 satoshi i reckon. You're an idiot if you don't get in now.

Things i see in digibyte that make it attractive to be a potential (notice i said potential not definite) coin for everyday internet use
- Active development --> new features not just adopted stuff from everywhere else and a gimmick
- No negative clouds surrounding the coin --> trust and honesty is important for high adoption
- Fast transactions --> this is perhaps the most important thing for use case adoption in everyday internet services, products etc
- Low premine and its proven to be used to promote coin dev and use unlike other dodgy coin operations
- Price isn't insane daily volume, high low change. It seems stable so is reliable to use
- Coin amount is way more than Bitcoin but not crazy amounts like some other coins. People find dealing with 1 unit increments more friendly than o that'll cost 0.000541 coins. @ 6000 DGB per $1 approx thats just nice to use. Once the price hits 1000 satoshi it'll be like 6 DGB to the dollar. Nice and friendly.

The few things i think that can be improved
- I think the digibyte man is ok but it seems a bit too friendly kid like? who knows maybe the mascot appeals to the older generation for adoption.. i'm a younger user so i probably have a more serious outlook on net ventures... mum, dad and grandma probably think its ok.
- Jarrod seems active in the dev space and comments but i think a PR face or Jarrod being more noob user in your face would be great. You know the dev of the coin thats out there in locations for average users driving adoption and promotion... not the tech savvy people that come here. Its the everyday average people that will really get the adoption and use going.

Anyway... enough diverging... whoever #5 position is i'm coming to claim it Smiley. Thanks for keeping it warm.

http://www.richlist.eu/digibyte/

Don't forget to have adequate security measures in place.
