1281  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: antminer s6 4500gh/s 1000watts on: December 20, 2015, 02:39:05 AM
Point is, just a small MOQ of 50 for SP50 is over 5 PH/s. Now for a sizeable batch for a data center, we're looking at 100 PH/s, which is very much capable of singlehandly raising the diff by double digits by itself for a round or two. (There's bunch few mW Bitcoin mines already)

We're looking at 80PH/s per mere mW, now and thats still pretty small when we have the main companies onlining/working on 10-30mW datacenter.

From there, simple math: a single 10mW datacenter filled with current/prototype gen miners would be more by itself than the current network.

After doing the math:

10,000,000 watts with 80% allowed usage [Especially, by insurance company for data center and NEC] should be operate 8,000,000 watts.  We need to allow for a few more items, such as, exhaust fans, etc...

We will deduct another 3% of that 8,000,000 watts for the other items used in the facility, which is 240,000 watts.  This leaves 7,760,000 watts remaining for rigs.

If all rigs were S7's batch 8 @ 1,293 watts each, this comes out to 6001 x S7's running 24/7 at allowed 80% demand of service.  The insurance company may limit them to 75% but I'm doing figures at 80 percent.

6001 x S7's at an average hash of 4,667 GH/s each [Just shy of 4,700 GH/s] = 28,006,667 GH/s (28,006 TH/s OR 28.006 PH/s).  This is far from the present network hash rate with 10 Megawatt facility.

I wanted to throw this up in the air for others to see.  You're welcome to do the figures for the SP50 if you like.  I just think it's important to keep in mind that a data center can only have 75 to 80 percent demand on their service when doing the calculations.  It will not quite be the full amount of wattage (power) the data center states.  Especially, if they are insured.

i'd rather have a stable miner with slightly lower hashrate but with minimal HW error & less heat.

Exactly this. The first thing I do with all my antminers is lower the frequency slightly - it brings down the error rate, reduces power consumption making them more efficient, they run more stable & reduces wear, prolonging their usable life span. Bitmain sell their miners tuned to the limit, but I'd rather have a slightly lower hash rate but a longer lasting & more reliable/efficient miner.

Well said, Pug!

Time to sleep everyone.  Have a good day!

Not only that & to those who can adjust their voltage, might be worth to give it a try to up the voltages in very small steps.

just back to basic oc'ing techniques.

more processing power = more power needed (volt) but also = more heat = more errors = shorter lifespan

so it is up to individual to decide how much to add.

of course the lower the hw error, the higher the hashrate, the least heat is always the best result.

take it 1 step at a time BUT remember warranty is gone !

if no options (adjusting voltage) then lowering will definitely help.

i'd rather have a stable miner with slightly lower hashrate but with minimal HW error & less heat.

Don't forget to check the package for your Christmas gift  Wink

Yes, sir.  I saw that.  Thanks!  It's like you read my mind.

EDIT:  I know it's hard to see everything from this view.  This is only temporary until I get the power upgrade.  Nineteen (19) are hashing away at the moment.  Fifteen (15) more are sitting in this closet until the upgrade.  All of this will be set up looking organized and clean after the upgrade.  Unfortunately, I will have to take all of this down for the install in case the inspector decides he wants to see if the rigs are UL listed.  Also, I need to have it all out of the way to install more receptacles.

I'm going to Home Depot tomorrow to look for something metal I have in mind for the IBM 2880's to slide into and have the rigs sitting on top of it instead of having it set up the present way.  I also need to adjust the shelves down and add another one for 6 shelves in total on each rack.  There will be two racks inside this mining closet.

Anyone running B8 higher than 700M Frequency to test results?

yes,

I still need to raise voltage, it's currently running off a bladecenter H 2880w PSU, will switch to a 4k later.
It ran at 775 all night long without any issue

NICE...

Thanks for sharing, J4bberwock.  I'll need to take some of the IBM 2000 BB setups from you in a couple of months.  It will be another 3 to 4 weeks before I have my power upgraded to justify buying more PSU's.  I decided to go with what you engineered and designed for the 2000 BB once the 2880's I have are used up.  I have 18 of them.  I thought I had 20 but I don't.

By the way,

Thanks for the prompt shipment!  I received it today.  GREAT communication and service, Sir!

Cheers,

David

EDIT:  I'll order those PSU's the moment I get a work permit to upgrade power.  Looks like I'm going with 800 amp service.  1000 amp will be too expensive for my present budget.  1,000 amp require too many addition add on's with National Electrical Code to put it out of budget.
1286  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 19, 2015, 09:46:04 AM
Any of you that may have a slightly under performing S7 Batch 8 may consider the following:

I noticed I had to go to "Miner Configuration" several times and click "save & apply" several times to get several S7's batch 8 to jump from approximately 1,700 GH/s to at least 4,600 GH/s.  It would also take a while to get to 4,600 GH/s while the HWE's slowly ticked down to reach only 4,600 GH/s.  I under clocked to 693 MHz on those that had high HWE's with 4,550 to 4,630 GH/s maximum hash.

When I under clocked to 693 MHz, my HWE's dropped from upper 0.0300's to 0.0060's [in most cases] and my hash rate went up from 4,550 - 4,630 range to 4,670 - 4,680 range.  You might have to go to  "Miner Configuration" again and click "save & apply" to get it to going above 1,700 GH/s after under clocking but in most cases you will not have to do this multiple times after under clocking.  I found that rebooting multiple times did not get the tedious rigs [With high HWE's and sub par hash rate] above 1,700 GH/s and the "Miner Configuration" with "save & apply" worked much better.  Especially after under clocking.

So, in summery, under clock one level down from 700 MHz to 693 MHz for better results with the batch 8's you have with higher HWE's and sub par hash rate.  This will make your hash rate better, your HWE's lower and your rig run a little cooler.

Yes as my PCI-E have the tabs so that's easy to line it up to the connector tabs.  I've tried 3 different Ethernet cable including taking 1 for a working S3.  I've rebooted and hit both the pin hole and little black button on the controller and tried power cycling 4 times as well wait for the device for over 15mins.  It seems to power up and there's no blinking red light which means network is good, but I can't see it logging in at all.

EDIT : REbooted router and now it's logged on.  Whew!

Sounds good...

I was about to suggest that and if that didn't work, you might want to download LanScan:  http://www.iwaxx.com/lanscan/

Romania. The worst part is that I already paid BITMAIN in bitcoins and my machines are held in customs ... nice !

I know...  I was thinking the same thing.  Hell of a position to be in.  I hope they work with you to sell them maybe and mail them where you tell them to.  Might see if you can appeal their decision as well.
1289  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 18, 2015, 10:36:04 AM
Yeah man, I can't damn buy 4x Antminers S7 for myself anymore ...
This is so ugly

WOW, Seriously?  Damn man... THAT is mean as hell if they don't let you do this.

What country do you live in?
1290  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 6 Vs Antminer S7, which one you will choose? on: December 18, 2015, 10:28:23 AM
no this is wrong, if btc value goes up the value of the gear goes down in btc, because it goes down in usd

in fact now the s7 on hashnest cost less than 5 btc, when before it was 7 btc

I wish them luck selling them at that price.  They probably still have earlier batches.
1291  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: antminer s6 4500gh/s 1000watts on: December 18, 2015, 10:26:02 AM
Except that the 10 1600w PSU. are Serevr style hot pluggable and are built into the unit.

Rich

Thanks Rich.  I should have took a look for myself at their website.  However, I really don't care for SPT anymore unless they change their ways.
1292  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: December 18, 2015, 10:20:36 AM
"This particular item is a collection of computer processors called ASICs that perform a specific computational task. Alone, this component does nothing. Once I assemble other pieces and attach the ASICs it solves complex computer math problems. In the most simplest of terms, it is just a computer component."

Saw someone else stated this. Should I try this ?

Yes, it worked for them.  You may want to put the following in parentheses after "ASIC": (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) with everything else you quoted.

Keep us updated please...  It sounds too much like a damn police State to me.  The whole damn world is slowly turning into a damn Police State by all these damn progressive leaders.

I received 2 Batch 8 miners and within 24 hours they both had 1 dead board.  Sad

At least I can still get 3.1TH/s with them while I was for a response from Bitmain...  Hopefully that doesn't take forever.

Sorry to hear that.  Hopefully, it doesn't take very long.
1294  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: antminer s6 4500gh/s 1000watts on: December 18, 2015, 06:50:36 AM
But the SP50 is 16,570 W, its not 4800watts. I think i/we confused which miners we were talking about.

So i meant, with the SP50 that you need 10 1600w PSU. I dont think that's convenient for anyone.

It's not convenient for anyone except a data center.  I don't know how they planned on powering the SP50.  Only thing I can come up with is multiple receptacles instead of only one receptacle.

I might have to look into the TPI, the thing I don't like about Lasko is that they don't publish the CFM level nor the Sound (SONE) level to make it easier to compare between their different product.  These TPI do and I'm quite impress with some of their numbers especially for the smaller size Fans.

TPI posts that on their website but it's presently under construction (maintenance).  Here is the link but you may have to navigate to it later after they complete whatever it is they are doing with their website.

Well it is back up.  Here is the site:  http://www.tpicorp.com  Once you get their, click on "Ventilation and Lighting Catalog."

Thanks DMwardjr / David.  S7 is coming tomorrow, very excited.  However 240V power supply is not ready yet so I will have to try and use the EVGA G2 with my extra Dual PCI-E Cable ( I have a couple more than what the PSU shipped with) and see if that will do the trick.  The 2 x 2000Watt PSU arrived and is very compact.  The fans and break out boards are arriving tomorrow.  Really like how this is shaping up thanks to all your advice.

Bought FAN since it was ver 2300CFM to test how it can push the air across the garage.  It was good for only about 10 ft of flow so not strong or forceful enough.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0073CQ9BW?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

So it will either be the Lasko MAX Pivotal FAN or the Vornado.

Got a few months to plan so plenty of time to test different solutions before the Houston weather get baking hot.

I prefer fans by TPI Corporation.  They do tend to cost a bit more than most but worth it in my opinion.  Some models they make are not very good but most of them are.  The TPI fans I purchased have ran strong now for over a year with no issues.

This is just a link for TPI fans at Amazon.  Their website is under maintenance (construction) at the moment.  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_c_0_7?url=search-alias%3Dtools&field-keywords=tpi+fan&sprefix=TPI+fan%2Cgarden%2C167

Don't let me determine your decision or your budget on a fan.  It may be the one's you have in mind will do just fine.
1297  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Anyone Farming Bitcoin in an Outdoor SHED? on: December 18, 2015, 05:44:08 AM
Found these Vents for the Garage.  Wonder if they're sufficient if I use 1 Vornado type fan to push the hot air out of 1 of the vent while the other vent draws in cooler air.  If this works then perhaps I may not need a shed but I'm not sure if they're big enough to reduce the heat from 5000 watts.

I like it.  Sounds like a good option.  Try one first.  If you think you need another one to install, you can always do it later.
1298  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5 PH] Kano CKPool (kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: December 17, 2015, 10:08:13 PM
Yeah that's actually the point of being able to create a new API code for your account.

The old API code is no longer valid if you create a new one, so if you decide to give it out to someone, you can effectively revoke it.

Well, there is one time limit, you have to wait a day after you create it to create a new one, i.e. effectively revoke it.
So if you create a new, then wait a day before giving it to anyone, you can immediately revoke it if there's some issue.

However, it only gives read access to the API data for you and no other access to your account, so it's pretty safe.

Thanks for the info.  Much appreciated.

Hi Zach,

Thanks for the work you've done with the pool hash rate graph and our own hash rate graph.

Also thanks for the low hash notification and found block notification.

By the way, everyone, if you haven't tried out http://ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com you need to.  No information you give can harm you.  Your email, API [Can generate a new one anytime] and pool username.  That's it.
1300  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain Antminer S7 Setup [HD] on: December 17, 2015, 08:52:52 AM
Yes, it's sufficient for your router but only one S7.  It will get pretty warm but not hot with one router and one S7 on that 16 AWG extension cord.  I'm assuming your are using a PSU(s) that can also plug into 120V?

Okay.  I think I will be headed out and grabbing a 12 AWG rated extension cord or better.  'pretty warm' disturbs me.  I don't intend to run the router off of it.  It's fine where it is.  I'm just not able to feed power to the S7 from the same bedroom where the router is.  The S1s weren't a problem because they were wireless.  But since the S7 is a direct-line into the router, I sort of need to keep it close to the router with a long extension cord, or a bit further away from the router with a long CAT5 ethernet cable.

14 AWG extension cord would certainly be fine but 12 AWG even better.  However, 12AWG can be expensive compared to 14 AWG.  14 AWG is certainly much better than the 16 AWG on that 15 amp outlet.
