12901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][PURE][X11] PURECOIN - new Visa card sample on: June 03, 2014, 12:20:24 PM
guys i do not understand, can this purecoin card be used at any visa outlet, also is this pre paid card

If it's a visa card you can use it at any store accepting visa cards.
But I would be very careful with this one.

Many have voiced their concern abut how this looks like a money laundering operation and I'm pretty sure some people keep an eye on it. If something bad happens you might end with 500$ on your card that you'll never be able to spend.

At least nobody can block your coin wallet , a cc yes , with one click.

Why would a big investor buy into it? Theres 700 million unaccounted for? I doubt any smart money will be entering it for a while.. remember you asked when will it hit 1000 sats? Think 5 years or more after bitcoin has a big crash if ever.

If bitcoin has a crash , then all the altcoins will suffer the same fate.
None is mainly traded via usd , but vs btc so it will affect them all , and some of them even worse.

172 - 115 spread on cryptsy. Haha!
it's not funny. man.

lol

I think it is...  It's looking like a transition phase.. Not many people willing to sell at this price and also not many coins left on cryptsy that aren't already in my investors circle.

It's not funny if you look at this like a day trader , you could get burned so easy with this spread.
It takes just a push in the opposite direction and your done for 50%.

what plans for this coin after distribution finish?
just for pump and dump?

You could have checked the op:

Things our team will do:
1. We’ll keep improving and perfecting our technology, and commit ourselves to the construction of the FBC community, trying to board various trading platforms.
2. We’ll launch an FBC betting website for the 2014 Brazil World Cup in June 10th. And after that, betting websites for international competitions, such as the Premier League, Serie A and so on, will be built.
3. We’ll develop more and better applications, and collaborate with other developers in fulfilling this aim. And for developers who develop applications related with FBC, we’ll give FBC awards.

12905  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT, Bitcoin is on the verge of collapse !!! on: May 31, 2014, 12:13:11 PM
You guys remember last year Bitcoin started growing in March when problems with the banks in Cyprus surfaced. This will repeat at some point in the future. Until then, not much growth in the crypto currencies, mostly the same money rushing from one coin to another, changing hands, some bitcoins exchanged for alts and back to bitcoin, not much new fiat.

devphp what are saying has merit. But i think expecting a transition from fiat to crypto brought about by a financial crash is a long shot. All we need is continued adoption by word of mouth and use of internet. Have you seen the chart of online bitcoin wallets, it is very steep growth! I dont think it is a big stretch to say user adoption will at least go up 5x in the next couple of years, this should launch the price up many multiples higher hopefully.

http://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactions-btc.html

Hoarding and use are two different things and they don't translate in adoption. And the number of transactions isn't going up at all.
It's on the same level as one year ago.

and really who mine doge now? exept multi pools?
becasue of block halving and its right on next halving coin will be dead
correct me if im wrong

Yes you are wrong. You think the coin is all about mining.
No , it is not!

Mining is such a little thing that does nothing to the price of the coin.

Check the hash rate and the price of bitcoin and you'll get your example.
And nobody is making plans to change the reward block in bitcoin or anything like that to please miners.
Actually nobody gives a damn about miners except for themselves.

12908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Greececoin (GRCE) - THE IS AIR DROP NOW 1st MAY on: May 31, 2014, 11:57:52 AM
I'm Greek and I find the name atrocious! Why not make it  e-Drachma or something like this? Greece coin just sounds stupid.

This is one of the flaws in the plan.
Not only the name is not attractive to all Greeks , I don't have a clue how many speak english there but also , due to the way it is distributed and mined , it is possible that lots of coins end up in the hands of foreigners who have no way to use them and only stash them.

With the low value and more coins stashed away you will need 1% or 2% of all the coins in the market to make a real purchase of goods.

Which will drive up the price as you buy and you end up with paying x2 in greece coins than in euros.
So , this is another deterrent to use the coins.
12909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPA] SpainCoin: freedom for Spain - Update wallets! Airdrop ongoing: 2.5%! on: May 31, 2014, 11:53:34 AM
I don't see any link in the op so I'm asking is this title actually accurate?

"Update wallets! Airdrop ongoing: 2.5%!"
You've sent coins to 2.5% of the population in spain? to almost 1 million people?
No, that means 2.5% of the premined coins have been distributed so far. (actually it's 2.73% now)

Thanks for answering , but this means ... how many people did apply for it?
I though the premine will be used for all the citizen of Spain but it seems i was wrong.

12910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPA] SpainCoin: freedom for Spain - Update wallets! Airdrop ongoing: 2.5%! on: May 31, 2014, 11:50:33 AM

Stage 1 of the distribution will finish in a couple of weeks. I've decided that stage 1 coins that haven't been distributed will be destroyed (4M+ coins), burning them by sending to an address for which we have no private key. This will make SpainCoin more valuable as the total number of coins projected will diminish. We will now also start giving away 20k SPA (from the stage 1 coins) to merchants for SpainCoin promotion efforts (merchants interested in thfis please contact us and tell us how you intend to promote SpainCoin).

Stage 2 will begin on June 10th. 2500 SPA will be given away per person on stage 2. Newcomers will get 2500 SPA. People who already requested their coins on stage 1 don't need to do anything, coins will be given away to their addresses evenly/randomly (so that there isn't a large spike in coin supply) over the stage 2 2-month period, so that they also get 2500SPA in total, including the 500 SPA they got initially.

I don't see any link in the op so I'm asking is this title actually accurate?

LTC will never come in.

BTC has created his era that can never be broken

Stuff and nonsense.

According to some here we might even run on btc in the future , and live in the blockchain.
12912  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT, Bitcoin is on the verge of collapse !!! on: May 31, 2014, 11:43:10 AM
I believe Bitcoin will be bouncing around this $500-600 price range for the next 3 months of summer. 3600 new bitcoins are generated each day, and with the new difficulty, which keeps growing, miners dump a lot of bitcoins to cover costs AND most important - not a lot of new fiat money is entering the market to buy all this supply of bitcoins.

What can make a lot of new fiat money enter this market - that is the question? Adoption by merchants is great and all, but people need to be scared for their money in the banks to want to be their own banks as Bitcoin gives them an opportunity to be. They aren't scared yet. Many will be scared only when it's already too late, as history shows us.

Oh, and summer is a slow season in all markets, people go to the beach, you know.

Probably no more than 50,000 people are holding more than ten coins a piece and you can't see where the money can come from?

This has happened before and it will happen again.

10 - 100   98146   3.29% (3.79%)   3,522,334 BTC   2,184,944,600 USD   27.45% (94.71%)
100 - 1,000   13148   0.44% (0.49%)   2,987,612 BTC   1,853,250,288 USD   23.28% (67.26%)
1,000 - 10,000   1426   0.05% (0.05%)   3,134,333 BTC   1,944,263,441 USD   24.42% (43.98%)
10,000 - 100,000   95   0% (0%)   2,185,074 BTC   1,355,426,948 USD   17.03% (19.56%)
100,000 - 1,000,000   2   0% (0%)   324,839 BTC   201,501,376 USD   2.53% (2.53%)

There are around 110k addresses holding more than 10 coins.
And only 200l holding between 1-10, so there is more than enough room to grow.
12913  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: May 30, 2014, 01:30:11 PM

To me, the most important reason Auroracoin has not yet stabilized after the storm is due to the fact that somehow the community hasn't taken up it's responsibility yet. I strongly believe that Auroracoin will become a great success, once we get enough people supporting it for the right reasons. Those reasons do not include short term profitability, but must be about making a difference. Not only to the Icelandic community, but also in the Crypto landscape.

I also believe this is the reason why we don't hear to much from Balduro at this time. From the very beginning he has made it perfectly clear that his role is to bring foreword the idea and lay the foundation. That segment is past us now, so it's up to us to finish what he has started!

Are you for real?? What community? The 'community' bid up the price ahead of the airdrop and then waited for good news about some kind of application or use within Iceland. None of this news was forthcoming. A community within Iceland itself would be able to build on this foundation as you put it, yet I can't see that anyone like that has stepped forward with that intention. Because of that, it isn't even clear that we can trust Balduro's statistics about the airdrop. So what is it you think we can do exactly??

I hear you and understand what you mean. But as I tried to explain many times in this forum, to me and many others, this is not about short term profit. If it was, then yes, you might be right. The question to me is, why is everyone in Crypto so inpatient? New ways and standards don't come falling out of the sky, they are slowly build by persistent groups who believe in the benefits change can bring.

There is a large group like this based within Iceland and it's supported by serious foreigners like myself. We know this is not going to prove itself within a couple of months, it will take years.

The up bidding of the price you mention, was not done by this group, it was done by greedy investors that were afraid to mis out. Almost all the early supporters behind this project would have liked to see the price not going over $ 5,- in the first year. The fact this did happen anyway only damaged the steadiness of it's launch.

So, I am for real when I say I truly believe this coin is only at it's start. For sure I also look at other initiatives and can tell you I've done pretty well on other coins financially, but also these coins were dumped as soon as the sheep follow the herds to the next coin. What remains is those coins that can really make a difference based upon their prophecy. It this case, to me AUR is still the one that has the highest potential of becoming widely accepted by an entire community/country. Just look at the initial idea, 330.000 people in a country that is perfect to implement crypto. That is what I think it will work in the end (Will take years, but will get there sooner than others!)

So, if you follow this coin to make a quick buck anticipating it will skyrocket soon, stop it! If you follow it to see if it will succeed in becoming the first to be adopted by an entire nation, you're welcome!

Right now , why should icelanders use auroracoin and not bitcoin?

It makes no sense , other than expecting larger gains.
12914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [LAUNCH CANCELLED] ShinyCoin : new PoW algorithm : PoS : info transactions on: May 30, 2014, 01:26:13 PM
The dev claims:

ShinyCoin uses a novel hashing algorithm called **ramhog**.  It is designed to be ASIC and GPU resistant.

No , there is no such thing as asic resistant algo and there won't be ever.
It might prevent people to create asic for this coin due to high cost and small revenue but otherwise you can build an asic for any algo out there.

I dont really get it.
Why doge price is still going down?
Find better altcoin, which isnt pump&dump....

You already answered it , doge hype is over , now the coin is on it's own.
It's no longer the new one around the block , the traders have switched to other coins and pumpers and dumpers also.

Right now doge has joined quark , mastercoin and the others which were once in the spotlight and are there no more.

But , even with the price going down , the coin is as alive as always.

Pools closing , exchange removing the trading pairs , feels like 2009 again.

12919  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Russian roadmap to Solar System colonisation. Moon is the first step. on: May 29, 2014, 04:17:52 PM
the Moon can't hold an atmosphere because of the lack of gravity, you need to artificially put a container for that, having a magnetic field helps against solar winds that erodes higher part of atmosphere into space, I think that before thinking too far, a first step would be getting there and doing it on a consistant basis to do scientific research and study the potentiel of our rocky neighbour

Lack of gravity?
Before posting anything else you should check your sources better. The moon has it's own gravity roughly 16% compared to earth.

At the same time, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk cautioned President Yanukovich against «disproportionate use of force» against the Maidan. Today Donald Tusk, whose grandfather, Josef Tusk, served in Hitler’s Wehrmacht, demands that the Kiev junta deal with the «eastern rebels» harshly, «as with terrorists».

I would rather say :

"Tusk was born in Gdańsk. Tusk's father, also named Donald Tusk (1930–1972), was a carpenter. Donald Tusk's mother, Ewa Tusk (1934–2009),[2] was a nurse. His uncle, Bronisław Tusk (1935–2000), was a sculptor from Gdańsk. His grandfather Józef Tusk (1907–1987) was a railway official who was imprisoned at the Neuengamme concentration camp; later, as a former citizen of the Free City of Danzig, he was compulsorily drafted by German Nazi authorities into the Wehrmacht[3] on 2 August 1944."

Also I would love to see the opinion of another polish official , like Jarosław Kaczyński who lost his brother in a mysterious accident a few years ago Smolensk , which was "obviously" not the fault of... anybody.
