Hashrate derivatives coming to Bitcoin.London-based DAG Global, which pitches itself as a cryptocurrency merchant bank, said miners were showing strong interest in the firm’s products for hedging hashrates.
“As the hashrate changes, you can go from being profitable to losing money very quickly,” said Robert Andersen, who leads DAG’s digital asset sales. “The contract insures you against that. It’s like insurance, and for that you pay a premium.”

The Lightning Network will soon be able to support larger Bitcoin payments.Blockstream announced today that it is closer to solving one of the biggest problems facing the Lightning Network, Bitcoin’s scaling solution. A better way of sending large payments across the network is coming soon. Atomic Multi-Path Payments (AMP) over Lightning were first proposed by Lightning Labs co-founder Conner Fromknecht and its Head of Engineering, Olaoluwa Osuntokun, in 2018. But it wasn’t until May this year that a new routing proposal was merged into the Lightning spec, providing a fix to Bitcoin’s long-standing payment problems, including AMP. Sending payments over the AMP protocol would improve the privacy of Lighting Network intermediaries and provide fee savings, as well as other benefits.

The bitcoin community may soon have its own version of Ethereum’s flagship decentralized finance (DeFi) platform.Money on Chain, a startup currently in the process of moving to Uruguay and converting into a nonprofit trust, just launched a DeFi platform based on the bitcoin sidechain Rootstock (RSK). The transition to a trust mimics MakerDAO’s Maker Foundation, which oversees the governance of a loan system with $330 million worth of “locked-in” crypto collateral.
While other projects like the Cross-Chain Working Group are exploring ways to wrap bitcoin in ethereum-based tokens for DeFi use, or offer centralized services for taking DAI loans with bitcoin collateral, this RSK model wants to use an open-source protocol inspired by bitcoin.
“We are going to allow other projects to build the DeFi ecosystem on top of bitcoin,” said Money on Chain co-founder Max Cajurzaa. “We are going to launch lending products on top of Money on Chain, but the ecosystem will evolve. Exactly the same as what happened with MakerDAO on ethereum.”
Diego Gutierrez Zaldivar, RSK co-founder and CEO of IOVLabs, said his team is already in talks with MakerDAO to explore bridges between that ethereum-based platform and this new sidechain project.

Flat Earthers Are Planning A Cruise In 2020 To Get To ‘The Edge Of The World' And now, the Flat Earthers are finally going out on a mission to prove their point. They are planning a cruise to reach the edge of the Earth and finally get to those ‘secret’ ice walls surrounding the edge of the Earth. Their adventure is scheduled for 2020 as per their website. This might be their ultimate shot at proving that the Earth is flat. While many of the details about the date and other aspects of this event are still pending, the Flat Earth Society claims that it would be one of the bravest adventures to date. However, there is an irony attached to this great scheme.
All the nautical maps and navigation tools currently present in this world are based on the concept of the globe-like earth. That’s how modern navigation technologies like GPS (Global Positioning System) has been developed too. They can even be considered as proof for the round shape of the earth. But then again, ironies come as part and parcel when we are talking about flat earthers.

I am staring at the Red Line in that chart and imagine crying that Bitcoin is going to die because the price is only $50,000. It’s 2023.
Bitcoin dropped from ~$150.000 to $50.000.
