Many great contributions so far  Wink
@Lucius
you clearly know that non-Americans can not dismiss what is going to be the end result. America still is the first world superpower and whoever takes charge is going to influence other countries in one way or the other.

@cr1776
All-in! I agree with everything you said and I would quote especially what I feel it is of the greatest importance:
Bitcoin can protect you from any form of authoritarian statist who might take power.  It can protect you because you can flee with it, protect you from the ravages of inflation, or just have something that the mob can't seize.  Plus all the other uses.

Remember when the government controls (or can control) everything, everything becomes political.  Everything becomes a political fight to the death: one side wanting power and control, the other wanting liberty and live and let live.  When one side can take everything because someone else "needs it" no one's life or property is safe.

1362  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Venezuela to Incorporate Bitcoin and Litecoin Wallets into National Remittances on: November 03, 2020, 09:31:01 AM
That is the beauty of Bitcoin! It can be used at the same time by the FBI, Iran, Venezuela, public companies and large corporations, freelancers, you name it!
This is a clear sign that bitcoin has won its battle against basically everything! Everyone can use bitcoin in their best possible way and I hope this will never change. Long live bitcoin  Cool

After many years of damnation, A.C. Milan is rising up again! I truly enjoy watching them play, Ibra is a great first-in-command and such an amazing football player. If they can keep this track record, Scudetto could be more than a dream. Imagine if they would win everything this season: Italy's cup, Europa League and Scudetto! That would be incredible
1364  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The crypto compliance lie: Sacrificing privacy does not make us safer on: November 03, 2020, 08:53:50 AM
What's the issue with the law-abiding group of people? We indeed have a two groups of people here in this forum - one, who wish to comply with the KYC request and pay taxes and two, who wish to remain anonymous. But if we really want bitcoin to become a new world currency, regulation is the only way towards it. Bitcoin will never be able to become mainstream if we resist regulation, in that case, it will stay only as a parallel currency system like it is today! There will definitely be a few crypto-friendly countries, but majority of the world governments will become more hostile against it!
At this point, looking at how things evolve and that apparently even YouTube is moving towards identity verification, I think I'd honestly rather see Bitcoin as a parallel economy or an underground currency than submit to shitty laws and regulations. Let me be free, under my own cloak, living in a non-Orwellian state. The worst thing is, the "Bitcoin & crimes" excuse has been used so exhaustively that it honestly surprises me seeing how people don't realize the regulations are a plan to defeat BTC and everything Satoshi wanted to create!
At some point in the future expect KYC everywhere on the internet. Everywhere there will be walled gardens. Can't you see it already? Almost every site you visit wants to know almost anything about you. DIDs (digital identities) will be rolled out sooner than you think and all our activities online will be monitored and linked to whom we really are. Am I being too pessimistic? I don't think so, just look around.
We gave up freedom for comfort, that's the least we can get.
1365  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-02]Bitcoin Is Braced For A U.S. Election Earthquake This Week on: November 03, 2020, 08:44:40 AM
Would the American equites markets react positively on a Trump victory or a Biden victory? The price of bitcoin might closely be attached more to the reaction of equities from the election than from the result of the election.
Do you really want to find an answer? I have something for you if you haven't read it already

1366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Anyone use a wallet on a rooted phone with custom ROM? on: November 03, 2020, 08:38:11 AM
No problem. I used to play around with it on Android 9 (or older, can't remember the details), and yeah it's basically the same thing as Windows/Linux dual-boot structure. Make sure you use a recovery like TWRP so you can restore your system if anything is wrong.
I am using TWRP for a long time now so I know where to move and how. Anyway, it's an old Galaxy S6, the battery is almost gone and I don't mind if something goes wrong along the way but that is the perfect testing ground for this purpose. I will give it a try over the next weekend and see how it goes.

Take note you will need to root the primary ROM before you were able to install it to the system partition but I don't know if after you installed the dualboot maybe you can unroot the primary while the 2nd ROM is rooted but I think the 2nd ROM will not run if the primary is not rooted. And if your device is not supported you will need to add your device manually which I think time consuming.

Anyway, if you still want to do this then there is a full guide from the XDA forum here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/guide-dualbootpatcher-build-source-t3663076
Noted, thanks. I did not know that. Thank you for the link, I will read it thoroughly. After a quick look, it seems that going for dualboot on a computer is much easier than installing the same thing on a phone. As I said I have an old phone that can be used for this so it should not be a problem if it gets bricked.

#Bitcoin  is the best performing asset, this year, last 5 years and last 10 years. Even risk-adjusted bitcoin outperforms all other assets, year after year. What's your reason for not having bitcoin in your investment portfolio?

Some more research I shared somewhere else. Might worth a look

1370  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-02]Bitcoin Is Braced For A U.S. Election Earthquake This Week on: November 02, 2020, 02:11:33 PM
I am very curious about how the US election may impact Bitcoin's price activity. It seems markets are waiting for it.

The amazing thing is that everything (even Bitcoin) revolves around the US presidential election and who will be the next president - and that the whole world is so centralized around one center of power that determines the fate of Bitcoin (at least in the short term). On the other side of the world, I don't want to depend on what happens if the American president gets on the wrong foot or what new madness he does tomorrow. The policy pursued by the US since the end of WW2 is to control the world as much as possible, and it is completely irrelevant what the name of the puppet who will sit in the White House for the next 4 years will be.

Bitcoin was supposed to change people’s addiction to such insane policies, and the opposite is happening - when I hear statements like “I’ll invest in Bitcoin if Biden wins” I wonder if there’s any chance at all that people will start thinking differently.
I believe that is unavoidable. There are some events which have a huge impact on markets but to have a wider view is very important too.
I will point you to the following SEBA Bank analysis: they looked at how bitcoin has behaved over the past five years during four distinct macroeconomic events that triggered market corrections (Grexit, China currency devaluation, Brexit and Trade War). It was noted that bitcoin was not affected by macroeconomic uncertainty and has consistently out-performed traditional assets in all four events. I guess that's something to have in mind too.

1371  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Multi bets vs single bets on: November 02, 2020, 02:04:12 PM
My experience so far with multi bets: let me clarify that I usually bet for fun and I know I will never become rich with this  Grin
I do not bet on more than 5/6 games and I never bet more than 5$ equivalent (if betting with crypto). I try to mix games in order to achieve a max potential profit of $250 even though I go mostly for $100/150.

I guess if you really knew that you will never get rich on this then better not use multibetting right?instead you should do single bets since this is safer and needs no big  capital.
I may consider multi bet when time comes that I have more capital to gamble.

Yeah right? So go on and bet $100 on a single bet to win 105 and then come here to cry. What kind of suggestion is this? Come on be serious.
I am certainly more confident in playing $5 bets and be ready to not winning then placing huge bets and losing everything.
1372  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The crypto compliance lie: Sacrificing privacy does not make us safer on: November 02, 2020, 10:49:41 AM
I remember when discussing bitcoin with a group of people after an event, one whom I discovered was a lawyer after I finished explaining my take on bitcoin said: "So, is this all you criminals do?" I avoided any debate as there was clearly nothing to say to somebody who was firmly believing in his opinions.
I see this is happening at a greater level now as bitcoin gets institutionalized : they want every bitcoin to be vetted and treated accordingly. As I said it many times already, we have excellent privacy tools at our disposal but they will keep on working only in the bitcoin realm. Don't expect to preserve your privacy when connecting your bitcoin to any of those regulated entities. We are at war, isn't it clear?

Another experiment you can try is to dualboot your phone (albeit it's not supported on the newer Android version) and make the second ROM root-free. You can use something like https://github.com/chenxiaolong/DualBootPatcher, but as always DWYOR and DYOR.
First time I see it, thanks for posting it. I might want to try that on an older Android device. Being used to have Windows and Linux in dual boot already, I believe I know what this is all about. Will try it  Wink
1375  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-11-02]Bitcoin Is Braced For A U.S. Election Earthquake This Week on: November 02, 2020, 10:22:42 AM
The 2020 U.S. election has put the country on course for its highest turnout in a century—with campaigns and candidates dominating headlines.

The bitcoin price has soared in the run-up to the election, adding a massive 30% through October and riding a raft of positive news to hit highs not seen since early 2018.

Now, with Democratic challenger Joe Biden finding a solid lead in national polls over incumbent Donald Trump, bitcoin traders and investors are braced as candidates head into the last day of campaigning, with global markets already on edge.

1376  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-11-02]Facebook is banning the Bitcoin hashtag on: November 02, 2020, 10:16:32 AM
Such a stupid move by Facebook. They do not get it: it is over now, bitcoin finally received mainstream recognition hence they should refrain from such petty actions. Good for me I do not have a Facebook account.

A small piece of advice for you: you are not pointing to an article (which is the goal of this board) actually.
Researching about your thread I found the following which you could have used instead.

Confirmed by math and science.
1378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Mind Blown Gambling Facts on: November 01, 2020, 09:40:48 AM
This is not a fact but some research I found truly interesting.
Repeated exposure to gambling and uncertainty can even change how you respond to losing. Counterintuitively, in individuals with a gambling problem, losing money comes to trigger the rewarding release of dopamine almost to the same degree that winning does. As a result, in problem gamblers, losing sets off the urge to keep playing, rather than the disappointment that might prompt you to walk away, a phenomenon known as chasing losses.

1379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees high on: November 01, 2020, 09:30:35 AM
Hi, I’m a newbie to bitcoin and have used a broker to trade for me. The broker has used a platform called Cryptomintfx, which my initial investment of 500GBP made over 80,000USD, apparently, I can view this and have a login to the Platform.
The question I have with fees that are associated with withdrawing these funds to a Luno acct, I’m being asked to pay 1550GBP to Cryptomintfx. They tell me that I need to upgrade to a ‘Gold’ account because I’ve made over a certain threshold in the trade. They tell me I’ll have the funds within 30mins in my Luno acct.

Am I being scammed here or is this real?

Any guidance would be helpful.
It looks very scammy. I had a look at the site and suddenly reminded me of those HYIP sites that have scammed many along the way. I guess you should open a thread on your own so that others can also share their experience.
My advice is to not pay! Better to have lost £500 than three times that amount.
By the way, your issue has nothing to do with the high fees we are facing right now.
1380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: November 01, 2020, 09:14:36 AM
So far so good Real Madrid won with 4 goals, ATM just won too with 3 goals. We will see if Barcelona will win its game against Alaves as expected or not!
I should have followed your advice on Atlético Madrid! I bet on the draw and that's the only game I missed! I was not sure they were going to win again but I was wrong... and lost a nice profit. Next time!
