401  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: June 01, 2021, 12:35:55 PM
Real Madrid unveiled the new blancos jersey. Waiting to understand who will be the new coach, ready to take over the legacy of Zinedine Zidane (among the candidates there was also Antonio Conte, freshly divorced from Inter, but in pole there is Carlo Ancelotti as per the last rumors), the Merengues redo the look: white shirt, of course, with sponsors and blue stripes and part of the orange collar, as well as part of the armhole. Goodbye pink, back to orange and blue as in the past. And in the photos there is no Sergio Ramos, Real's captain, whose contract's expiring...

According to reports from Corriere della Sera (italian milanese newspaper), European champion Chelsea would have put in their sights Romelu Lukaku, Inter Milan striker. The Belgian is doing well in Milan, but the Nerazzurri club in front of a very high offer (over 100 million) could waver easily considering they are short of money.
403  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The World Without Bitcoin on: June 01, 2021, 12:29:33 PM
We had a world without bitcoin and I didn't like it. Now that my world is bitcoin based I hope I'll never go back! I learnt a tremendous amount of things thanks to bitcoin: I had to learn a bit of cryptography, economics, game theory, networking systems, open source etc.
I'll always be grateful to Satoshi for all this!
With those things that you said, it seems that I still have a lot to learn from bitcoin, back then when there was no bitcoin, I am miserable most of the time but as time goes by and I got introduced to bitcoin, things took a good turn and life seems just a little bit less miserable. Can't imagine a world without bitcoin because the population is growing and the unemployment rate is going up in correlation to the population and I don't want to be some schmuck who doesn't have any money.
No need to feel miserable man, don't worry!  Wink Back in my days it was very difficult to learn now it's really full of info and you can get a boost of knowledge in less than a month (if you commit). Just start and don't worry, there's never a right time to do things. Anytime is a good time!

“Marathon is committed to the core tenets of the Bitcoin community, including decentralization, inclusion, and no censorship,”
I wonder if their stock devaluation had anything to do with this considering that it has been dumping ever since its April pump. Maybe seeing $19.66 after reaching $56.56 was a wake up call that the investors don't like malicious miners.

It's more likely investor realize censorship (by excluding certain address/transaction) isn't very profitable.

I have always thought about something like this, but I’m not so sure about the possbility, “What if a majority of full nodes manually adds a misbehaving pool in their ban list”? Would a threat like that be effective in discouraging censorship by a mining pool?

First of all, the full node software must have feature to detect who mine block. However, i don't know any full node software which have such feature, so i guess it's not possible (at least for now).

My feeling is that stock price has little to do with this back-pedalling.
Sure, MARA stock has been lagging the market recently, but I. Guess their performance is highly correlated with bitcoin price.

I would rather point to the appointment of the new CEO: Fred Thiel has been nominated CEO since April 26th.

So he has been at the helm of MARA for a little bit more of one month.

Still,  I cannot figure out if this change in policy is the effect or the cause of this new appointment.
But I think this analysis, albeit very interesting, is quite off topic in this thread.

What if it's just a way to take time, comply with the bitcoin governance and secretly planning for counteroffensive? I always look for the motives behind the actions, I'm a kind of action-reaction guy. They have an agenda but for the time being it's not clear what they'll do but I guess we'll know soon.
Thanks for the info stallion
405  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Taproot proposal on: May 31, 2021, 03:12:07 PM
Is anyone really surprised to see that Marathon pool is the only one not signaling for Taproot activation?
I am not surprised at all, but problem is they are growing in hashrate with their new 73,000 miners starting to run in Texas with plan to have total of 103,000 miners with 10.36 EH/s hashrate.
I really don't know what to expect from them after ofac compliant ''clean'' blocks...
Better because agreeing 100% is never a good thing. Cheesy
Anyway, whether they signal or don't, who cares, we don't care.
They're bound to have to adapt to taproot and then I'll be really interested to see how taproot will make life difficult for them on the privacy side.

Joao Mario has clear ideas, and Sporting Lisbon also. To the advantage of Inter, which is ready to get money from this situation. In Portugal they are sure: the midfielder born in 1993, on loan from the Nerazzurri to Sporting, has given a mandate to his agents not to listen to proposals from other clubs, having the firm determination of wanting to stay at the Leoes, but this time on a permanent basis. Also Inter has already been informed that it is not worth listening to proposals from other clubs, as the midfielder's will is clear.
Contract duration should be until 2024, at €2.5m per season.
408  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 31, 2021, 02:53:33 PM
Ten years to win again and a couple of days to destroy everything. The Nerazzurri joy lasted a few hours. The time to celebrate Scudetto, not even that, because even during the celebrations in the square, the exultation on social networks, the hugs and compliments, there was already a veil of melancholy, the anguish of what would have been the future. And the future will be without Antonio Conte, the master of the triumph, who left in silence, without even slamming the door as his usual, perhaps without other protagonists. It seems almost his destiny: to win and then disappear. A film already seen elsewhere.
If he goes to Tottenham I hope he can stay more than one year...
409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should you buy bitcoin right now? on: May 30, 2021, 08:04:44 AM
When you ask yourself whether you should buy bitcoin or not I guess you're still missing the real point which is understanding it in the first place. If you don't understand bitcoin don't buy it and no price will never be the right one!
Try to learn what it means to be able to be your own bank, to securely store and put your wealth (whatever it is) under safe custody, to be able to send btc anywhere in the world no questions asked...
That's what matters.
410  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2021 NBA Season on: May 30, 2021, 07:59:04 AM
Joel Embiid signed his career-high in the NBA Playoffs with 36 points and dragged the Philadelphia 76ers to the match-point in the series against Washington (3-0). Embid dominated the game, going to halftime with 25 points and his team ahead 72-58. For the Wizards, besides Embiid's problem, there was also Westbrook's physical problem (ankle). Russ scored a triple-double anyway (26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists) but it was useless because his team went as low as -31 and then lost 132-103.

411  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No One Can Shut Down Bitcoin on: May 30, 2021, 07:44:24 AM
True that Bitcoin can't be shut down but its enemies are finding any possible way to make it less and less popular and usable. Technologically speaking I believe bitcoin is unbreakable given the current conditions while the only troubles can be find in the mining cartels (but they earn money from it so they were never be able to create fuss) and regulatory bodies which could use fear to make people afraid of BTC.
With taproot Bitcoin will gain some more years of life but I start to believe this is a never ending battle!
412  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Elon is manipulating the market? on: May 30, 2021, 07:38:38 AM
However, all these manipulation can effect the market only in short term and they effect the long term holders at all.
Good you mentioned that because that's always something to keep in mind. This short term manipulation will not have any effects if we take into consideration the big picture we all foresee happening in the long run.
In a way it wasn't even bad to have this slowdown because there were people starting to investing in crazy horseshit and believing they could become rich with that.
Keep accumulating bitcoin and don't worry  Wink
413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: May 30, 2021, 07:32:33 AM
Inter lost the magics when Conte left and its supporters are mad at the presidency. Money is important but there's also something more important behind running a prestigious football team. Now that Conte left maybe eve the players lost their enthusiasm.
Good luck to them but I expect a season of major failures on every front for Inter.
414  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's the motive behind the anti gambling campaign on: May 30, 2021, 07:26:07 AM
It's about reading the stats and knowing about a bit of statistics and mathematics. There are for sure a bunch of lucky players who have the chance to win and, sometimes, to win big but these data are outnumbered by the millions who keep losing.
This is how life works in the end, sometimes we're ahead, sometimes we're behind and the race it's only with ourselves.
To me it's not about negativity, but about reality and facts.
415  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: May 30, 2021, 07:19:44 AM
My bet was, again, not correct  Grin (2-1 for ManCity).
At least I had fun with my friends watching the final. Two exceptional teams, really, but I must finally admit that Tuchel's a magician. The way he even conceived this game was great and never forget he took a team that was almost done and brought it to the top of Europe.
416  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think Elon is manipulating the market? on: May 28, 2021, 12:32:37 PM
I sense that people started to know him: too many got burned thanks to him P&D signals and he's losing influence as a crypto guy. Couldn't have gone better in that sense! Bitcoin need no gurus or frontmen.
You can be Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett yet honey badger doesn't care!
417  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread on: May 28, 2021, 12:28:31 PM
Can't wait for the final really, I'm all set with 4 good friends we'll be having a poker party before the game and  then we'll eat some nice thai food and watch the match. We have 4 different bets for the game (four different correct scores) and who gets closer to the final result chooses who's gonna pay dinner for all.
I picked 2-1 for Man City

Same here.  Chelsea might be getting one in on the counter during the first half and City getting the other two at the second half for the win.  I could also see more than 3.5 corners for each team, I could see Jorginho getting a booking.  Try using all that info at sportsbet.io’s bet builder.  You get around 21 odds.  Grin
Yeah interesting, haven't thought of that actually!

I picked 2-1 for Man City

chelsea had a very strange season and even today i cannot to conform that real madrid has lost against chelsea, but those are the surprises of the champion league and that is why for this chelsea game - City I still don't think it will be a game easy for City and chelsea can still surprise and win the game, everything will depend if chelsea's defense is too strong or if it is weak, because if chelsea has a strong defense then chelsea can win that game. I like City and I'm hoping that City will win this game, but its that Chelsea plays in a way that can surprise and win
Yes, it seems that from the defense side it will be the main thing for the two coaches who must be able to put forward a defensive strategy, because both will rely on dynamic counter attacks when opportunities arise.
and seeing the journey of the two teams, it is evident that both Man City and Chelsea have gone through difficult times to reach the final, and it looks like the last duel of the two teams is believed to be fierce and tough in the first half. and I can't wait to watch it.
It's a final, no wait, THE final! It's a one shot opportunity to be crowned the best team of all year and that alone could push the players off their limits. It's an unpredictable game in the end but I can't wait for it to happen. If I win or lose my bet I honestly don't care Cheesy

The property has made known the plans for the future and it is on the subject of the future that the break between Inter and Conte was born. Reduction of costs and need to make capital gains with excellent transfers: clear differences between the parties, with Conte that in the end has decided not to accept this new scenario.
I completely agree with the former manager, and Inter presidency is made of nuts.
