1361  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: activity penalty for necroposts on: July 18, 2013, 03:17:40 PM
The fact is that people who get scammed by these spammers do value that number

There's the real problem right there.
1362  Other / Meta / Re: Proposal: activity penalty for necroposts on: July 18, 2013, 03:09:07 PM
I see a lot of 2011 and 2012 threads getting new posts, usually by relatively new users making lots of short (one or two line) posts.

Giving a permanent -10 penalty to activity rating would make this activity useless for people hoping to boost their activity for PM or trust purposes, but not be overly punitive for people that really think that an old thread deserves a new read.

Also, I mentioned it in a different thread, but figure it is worth repeating here.  Ignores earned should deduct from activity, either actual activity or effective activity used for spamming.

You're assigning some arbitrary value to that number on the left there again. Like people did with the postcount. Which was the reason why postcount got removed in the first place.

Here is a Public Service Announcement: Penis size is unrelated to either activity or postcount size. No one cares about activity or postcount size. If you DO care aout activity or postcount size nonetheless, please stay calm, sit down in a quiet place and wait for help to arrive. A unit of helper monkey will be dispatched as soon as possible.

We have to start somewhere Smiley...

Not at the bottom of the barrel we don't.

Sorry for the off topic comment, but how does a guest post in the forum?  I thought all users had to be registered.

That's Atlas. He was a user once. But he got banned so hard his account was pulverized in the process.

I am a little late to the party here, but this sounds like something I'd enjoy doing for free.

You're a month old and amassed a grand total of 32 posts in that time.

You should pay ME to be allowed to wear my signature.
1375  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban for Press Guideline Violators on: July 17, 2013, 04:12:18 PM
You won't get people to follow your guidelines with punitive action for minor infractions.
This will only lead to being seen as dictatorial, which people don't deal too well with, especially here.

Instead lead as good example, correct the false formatting and explain to users the benefit of following the guideline. This will in time lead to broader adoption of the guideline. Note I'm talking weeks here not days. People adapt slowly.

I should offer courses on this for dirty fiat money.

Holy shit! We've just discovered something big!

It's my penis isn't it? I knew I should have hidden it better.

Then again, it's pretty difficult to hide what with the size and all.
1377  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban for Press Guideline Violators on: July 17, 2013, 12:32:41 PM
you act like u have a lot of experience gayhawk

Kinda, I've been a moderator and/or moderation staff team leader on forums of this size or bigger for the last 5 years.
1378  Other / Meta / Re: Temporary Ban for Press Guideline Violators on: July 17, 2013, 10:13:01 AM
kiba should no longer be a mod. he just abuses his power. why are mods getting paid anyway i want t obe a mod

What did he do?

a mod shoudnt act like this

What the fuck is this? More incorrect date formatting?

Date fixed. I need to do something against people who don't fix their own shit.

It's a mean of "education", given that people don't read the god damn press guideline.

Is that a quote? He's power tripping. Happens pretty often when one gets ones first mod position. Give it a week and he should have it out of his system. If he's still tripping after a week, he might have been the wrong choice for the position.

cryptocoinnews likes to post FUD,

He's also a plagiarist. His content is entirely stolen down to the point where he doesn't even bother to remove references to the site he stole from from the article. (like "Here at the [publication x] offices we have often said..."/"[publication x] readers know by now that...")
1380  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm going to Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, and London. on: July 17, 2013, 08:04:38 AM
Berlin is home to the "Bitcoin Kiez" - meaning something like a part of town, where Bitcoin is accepted.

This particular Kiez is like a single street last I checked.
