1381  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-10-30] US macro events unlikely to fully derail Bitcoin price gains on: November 01, 2020, 09:07:55 AM
Hold on a minute: I don't believe in anybody's words  Grin
I simply shared an article that I found interesting. Of course, everyone would try to frame things the best way they work for them.
In this case, I agree that a drop is unlikely even though my biggest concern is about volumes that are too low.

I see a few Sean Connery's fans around here.
Xhomerx, why don't you create a nice commemorative hat for our departed friend?

I have already said happy bitcoin whitepaper but I did not say

GO BTC GO

How does it feel like?
I still don't believe it  Cheesy I'm holding onto my dreams now. Thank you Satoshi.

1383  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How does ChipMixer make money? on: October 31, 2020, 05:38:29 PM
DarkStar_ carefully selected ChipMixers campaign participants. They cover the whole forum and they write in the most followed boards (including Locals) as per ChipMixer business model. They have a few Staff, many old-timers, merit sources, big merit receivers, etc.
This makes a difference since their advertising coverage is great. These are the reasons for their success and their ability to pay big.
1384  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-10-30] US macro events unlikely to fully derail Bitcoin price gains on: October 31, 2020, 05:19:06 PM
Wait. So Bitcoin fundamentals are strong, and upside momentum is strong, yet it's likely to give way to $12k?

Not sure I'm following. I mean, I actually agree we'll get to that number en route to end of 2020, if the Orange manages to lose. Stimulus from Trump would have taken stocks way higher, but the blue regime back in power might dampen some party moods temporarily. But if upside momentum is as strong as it's being said, none of this should matter.

$14k again tomorrow methinks. And then we see what happens on Tuesday onwards when the polls open.

Thanks for pointing that out, it was actually my mistake! A drop is unlikely! I was refering to Guy Hirsch (managing director of the U.S. region at trading platform eToro) words.  Wink
1385  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: October 31, 2020, 09:52:31 AM
Best matches in term of, kind of safe and most profitable bet imo are ATM vs Osasuna and Sevilla vs Athletic!
ATM didn't lost any game so far so I think it can win this game. For Sevilla I think also a win (or a draw) should end their miserable results!
Of course their shouldn't be other choices than Real Madrid and Barcelona victory in their respective games Wink
I don't agree on ATM. I wouldn't be so sure about ATM winning so easily against Osasuna and the fact they haven't lost yet doesn't mean much since La Liga has just started. I see a draw between them; regarding the other picks, I agree.

Honey Badger does not care, that's all I have to say.
Happy Birthday Bitcoin White-paper! We are here, having fun, thanks to you.
1387  Bitcoin / Press / [2020-10-30] US macro events unlikely to fully derail Bitcoin price gains on: October 31, 2020, 08:36:13 AM
As the U.S. stock market enters earnings season, analysts explain how Bitcoin could perform after earnings and the presidential election.
A drop to $12,000 is unlikely, as the “upside momentum” of Bitcoin is simply too strong, with fundamentals backing it up. Bitcoin has seen unexpected price swings in the past, especially during bull markets. Volumes, open interest and overall trading activity increase, raising the probability for short-term volatility spikes.

1388  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran Changes Law to Use Bitcoin For Imports on: October 31, 2020, 08:31:17 AM

I am not a fan of the Iranian government (or of any other government). Despite that, this is very significant news.

Bitcoin simply found its way into another inefficient market, with the inefficiency caused by U.S. sanctions, to make it more efficient, and more workable. Like the dark markets. Cool

North Korea next.
This may sound stupid though I believe this news might spark serious geopolitical consequences. Iran and N. Korea embracing bitcoin for good might make uncle Sam definitely crazy. I am only concerned about any possible retaliation, but this is a clear win for bitcoin.
1389  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 31, 2020, 08:22:01 AM
After the CL and EL days, 7 Italian teams are now back for Serie A.
A.C. Milan, fresh from the internal draw against Roma, leads the championship. Pioli shouldn't change much but pay attention to the possible return of Rebic. Expect a lot of turnover during these Serie A days, especially for big teams. There will be an important test for Gattuso's Napoli which hosts Sassuolo. Inter will play without Lukaku.
Considering the above, I would bet the following games.
Crotone – Atalanta Over 2,5 goals
Inter – Parma   Home
Udinese – Milan Draw or away
Spezia – Juventus   Away
Napoli – Sassuolo   Home or draw
1390  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ BTCGOSU ⭐ Your Trusted Guide to the Best Bitcoin Casinos ⭐ on: October 31, 2020, 08:09:13 AM
Hi GOSUers, first of all I second the STAY SAFE announcement. Things are unfolding bad, unfortunately.  Sad
I have a question for you all: if you were to start playing for the first time on one of the many bitcoin casinos, where would you go? Meaning that, if you have compared them thanks to GOSU, which one would you choose and why.
1391  Economy / Gambling / Re: bustabit – The original crash game on: October 30, 2020, 02:44:18 PM
That is probably the craziest gambler we have ever witnessed in the Bitcoin casinos realm! Is he pushing his luck too far? I guess we will see soon. I remember when I was in profit, and I kept playing to win always more. I ended up losing everything.
1392  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Official betting partner of ARSENAL FC 🚀 on: October 30, 2020, 02:38:26 PM
Multi Magic from our guy Steve,,, of course I am in;) And you even put in my Spurs there too, so how can I overlook it? Come on guys, we were not so bad last night right? We were terrible lol!

At least Kane+Son+Bale will be much fresher in the weekend and help us win this! (crying inside)

Spurs should definitely win on Sunday dude, Brighton aren’t a great team so I see your boys picking up the win.
The attacking trident of Son, Kane, Bale has the potential to do a lot of damage this season once Bale is fully fit.
Not even considering that Spurs attack is the most prolific while Brighton & Hove Albion has one of the worst defense in the whole Premier League: I expect to watch Spurs scoring many times on Sunday.
1393  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Why do people avoid using closed source wallets? on: October 30, 2020, 02:28:20 PM
[...] We don't believe that any side claims that the seed was sent in plain text, the "victim" (aka blackmailer) has always claimed that his seed was sent encrypted to Google and then a Google employee used it to steal his funds. We have millions of users but only his funds was stolen - and stolen by Google. We expect people on this forum to be smarter than that. And yes, you can verify that everything was broadcasted over HTTPS, just ask the "researchers" who made a case out of it in the first place to send you a copy of the wallet executable, install it on a sandbox and run a packet sniffer to see for yourself.

Wait.. are you actually really trying to justify yourself by saying your wallet did at least encrypt the seed before sending it over to google??
Like.. are you serious?

A closed source wallet sending the seed via google API to check the spelling.. and then you come here and say "..well at least it was encrypted via https"... are you kidding?!
I rarely encounter such incompetence, ignorance and arrogance in one person. Congratulations.

Such statements are a really good reason to absolutely discourage the use of your wallet.
Basically Coinomi confirmed why we should avoid using it.
That's the first rule of crypto: learn how to securely store your keys, therefore your coins. With closed source wallets I don't feel secure while having to rely on open source alternatives, independently verifiable by anybody, make me more confident when storing my assets.
Sometimes letting go security over convenience can be a terrible mistake.
1394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Iran Changes Law to Use Bitcoin For Imports on: October 30, 2020, 02:17:51 PM
I am not a fan of the Iranian government (or of any other government). Despite that, this is very significant news.
You can be absolutely sure that, in reality, the Iranian government have been doing this for quite some time already. There's no way they would
I cannot disclose the source but I can confirm you they are exploring this since 2018. The very first use case for them was about tuition fees. Two universities were involved if recall it correctly. It's been a while I don't get any news by my Iranian friend but I guess I should congratulate him.

No expectations from my side: I know it's hard to understand bitcoin in its entirety and I don't expect everyone to like it and buy it as an investment asset. But entirely dismissing bitcoin is very wrong. Having a tiny amount of gold myself I recognize it as very good asset to hold but since studying bitcoin I started dismissing it from my portfolio (converting it to btc).

FullNode: you have the best hat design around so far! Congrats and welcome to the club!

To all the others: don't get obfuscated by short-term mini-dumps. Bitcoin is a supermassive black hole now and that can not be stopped. Try to imagine how many Saylors we will have in 1 3 6 12 months. It can't be stopped, it won't be stopped. Single bitcoins will be soon out of stock for many. Hope you have yours  Smiley
1397  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: October 30, 2020, 08:21:07 AM
The problem is that a football club isn't a retail brand; it gets judged every week by what happens on the pitch, and in the department of weekly, short-term results, Bartomeu came up desperately short. That's not so much when it comes to results on the pitch, which were mixed - in his nearly seven seasons at the helm, they won four Liga titles (good) and four Copas del Rey (also good), but they advanced past the quarterfinals of the Champions League just twice (not so good) --but, rather, in the actions he took to keep the team competitive.
This is the best explanation I found so far about the whole Messi, Bartomeu, Barcelona drama. If you want to read more about it go here

1398  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: October 30, 2020, 08:10:27 AM
Even allowing a few into stadiums exponentially complicate things: how do you make sure everyone's not a virus carrier? How do you avoid they will hug and cheer each other when their team scores a goal? Let's face it: it's better if stadiums stay empty for now. Otherwise, at some point they will have to stop professional sports altogether.
Talking about tonight's game I see a draw between Wolverhampton and Crystal Palace @ 3.20 pays nice
1399  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin will replace oil and Gold on: October 30, 2020, 07:56:00 AM
Oil and gold have practical applications in life, and bitcoin is only a digital means of payment, so it will never be a substitute for gold and oil.
You started good: bitcoin can not substitute gold and oil in real world applications: I can't see using bitcoin to develop semiconductors and microchips, likewise you can't fuel your car tank with bitcoin.

As far as governments are concerned, I don't think bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency for the purposes described in the first post.
I wouldn't be sure about this: go tell Iran no to use bitcoin to avoid economic sanctions. Bitcoin is really their best alternative right now.

Bitcoin is too outdated, alternative cryptocurrencies are far superior in all characteristics.
Here I lost you. What do you mean by outdated? Please point me out which superior alternatives you have in mind.

My take is that it will be easier for those who invest in financial instruments connected to gold (CFD, options, futures etc.) to start considering an investment in Bitcoin than for those who believe in tangible real assets, they can feel, touch and admire (being coins, bars, jewels whatever).
I mean, let's understand them, how is it even possible to switch from something you can see to something you don't?  Grin
Gold investors are having hard times with bitcoin these days.
