141  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Brand new to mining on: October 12, 2014, 01:42:58 PM
Welcome to bitcointalk beekneez.

The only thing you need to do now is to do more research.
You need to understand how difficulty adjusts itself and how it is going to affect your mining profit.
You need to understand that you need ASICs to mine bitcoin nowadays, and you need to compare the price, hashrate and power consumption.
You need to understand how to use a mining calculator to estimate the profit or loss of your investment based on your electricity price, the ASIC specs and your predicted difficulty increasing rate.
142  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how to earn some quick btc on: October 12, 2014, 01:34:52 PM
As you have no money to buy bitcoin, you may consider joining the BitBiz.io sig campaign https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=751691.0 or the Bitin.io campaign https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=751056.0 to earn some bitcoin. The pay rates aren't very good, but they are already the best options for jr members.

We have embedded the YouTube upload of Rise & Rise of Bitcoin on a separate page of CoinLearn.org.

Watch it for free and share the link with your friends and families : www.CoinLearn.org/movie.php

Hmmm that is just the movie trailer indeed.

For those interested in watching the full movie, you can buy the DVD on http://bitcoindoc.com/store or buy/rent it on http://vimeo.com/ondemand/bitcoindoc
144  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked Btctalk account on: October 12, 2014, 01:22:35 PM
It doesn't matter how strong or long your password is if you've got a keylogger or reuse the same password or enter it into a phishing site. If you can I'd set up 2-factor on your email address. 2-factor will be coming for this site with the new forum early next year so hopefully that will cut down most of these hacked accounts.

I don't have idea what happanened. I've thinked I use everything carefully but looks like not.

Hacker got acces to my F2pool and Guild account too.... I have luck he was just able to steal 0.44 Btc.

I've changed my e-mail and everything now, made a complete revision on all my accounts.

I'm just sad to loose my Sr. membership here....

I would suggest you to should do a through malware check as well if you haven't done so yet.

Trying to get back my password from the provider, then maybe i can get back the account here then. Will see....

It is likely the hacker has changed your email on your bitcointalk account as well, so you should send theymos a PM (for details: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0).

I've tried...

No response.  Sad

You need to wait patiently now as recovering accounts is not the top priority job for theymos. You may try to re-send your PM after a week or so if you haven't heard anything back.
145  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Free BTC Giveaways on Bitcointalk on: October 12, 2014, 01:13:35 PM
which of these are most worth it?

IMHO, the 777coin one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=254871.0, 0.0001 btc daily, no requirement on activity) and the scratch ticket one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=467870.0, 0.0015 btc, 30+ activity) are the best on-going giveaway. Smiley
All of these giveaways are defacto faucets that only encourage spam on the forum. Faucets are not a good use of your time and you stand to be able to make much more bitcon by otherwise earning money and getting paid in bitcoin

Well if I have to watch annoying ads and solve 10 different captcha on 10 different sites to get 1000 satoshi, it is of course a complete waste of time. But if I only have to spend less than 10 seconds to type my username to get 0.0001 btc a day, it is much better.

Another problem with faucets is that you are collecting dusts and you will need to pay a lot of tx fee in the future when trying to spend the dust outputs. But for gambling sites' giveaway, you can get it directly on your account balance and so it wouldn't bloat the blockchain nor fill your wallet with dusts.

146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent Bitcoins to Wrong Address, how can I see where I got the address from? on: October 12, 2014, 01:08:19 PM
I have no idea about that, but you may try to use google search to see if it was a well-known address or if someone has ever mentioned it before.

Next time, may be you should double check the first few characters as well as the last few characters, just to be more sure you haven't copied the wrong address.
147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is one method of 2FA safer than another? on: October 12, 2014, 01:02:41 PM
I agree with you that email 2FA is the worst for 2 reasons.
1. If you have a malware on your pc, it is likely all your accounts including your email will get hacked.
2. You will need to be very careful separating real 2FA emails and phishing emails.

Other than email, the others are all good IMO. Smiley
148  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question? on: October 12, 2014, 12:54:06 PM
Geeze, that really was one person moving around 100k in bitcoin. Someone should write a script which takes the ip address of large transactions and compares them against IP blocks registered to companies Smiley It'd be interesting (I don't have the skillz). Maybe someone could repurpose that wikipedia script which did the same with wiki edits! I would be interested to see if Chase or Bank of America are moving are btc in large quantities! Surely they'd know enough to obscure their identity if they did. I mean you can probably connect to the btc network through a tor protocol or at least a proxy server. But companies didn't take the time to use a different ip block for their wiki edits either.

And the person was paying just a few cents as fees lol. Cheesy

BTW, bitcoin users are able to connect to the bitcoin network through Tor and so it won't be a simple task to find out the actual IP addresses of the address owners (the IPs you saw on the transaction page on blockchain.info aren't necessarily the IPs of the senders)
149  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: i wanna download electrum (HELP!) on: October 12, 2014, 12:48:09 PM
and also if you used Electrum what do you think about it?

Electrum is a very good wallet, especially to new bitcoin users. It is a thin client (you don't need to download the whole blockchain but just ~25 MB block headers) and it is very easy to use. Smiley
150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online wallet ? on: October 12, 2014, 12:40:36 PM
So i can't just click pay from the wallet like Paypal , i have to use keys?

This is like learning a new foreign language. Cheesy

Guess my previous post made you confused lol. My bad.  Grin

To receive a payment, you just need to give your address to the payer.
And to send a payment, you just need to enter the payee's address and the amount of bitcoin you want to send out.

For ordinary users, you don't need to know how the private keys work or how bitcoin works under the hood. At the early stage, just remember that you should save a copy of your wallet file and keep them away from everyone. Smiley
151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin QT transfer wallet to online? on: October 12, 2014, 12:10:26 PM
Okay before I start I'd just like to mention I'm a total newbie to all things Bitcoin.

I managed to buy some Bitcoins yesterday, only in the region of £30, I downloaded Bitcoin QT and transferred them there, however I did not realise how long it would take to import the blockchain (such a noob comment i can imagine).

After scouring the net I found the best way to speed up the process was to download the bootstrap torrent, which I did so, and it synced the blocks up until halfway point, and now it's going so slow, it looks as though it will take a further few days to complete fully, which is a problem as I was supposed to make a payment using my Bitcoins tonight.

Am I correct in thinking I can't transfer my BTC anywhere until the blockchain import is finished and my balance is visible on QT? Or is there some way around this? I read somewhere it could be possible to transfer my non-visible QT wallet to an online wallet, however instructions were for PC, and I didn't want to trial this incase I screwed it all up.

I'd also like to add I'm working on a 250GB Macbook Air with 4GB ram with a 1.8ghz processor (another reason it seems to be taking forever I'm guessing).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Since you have limited knowledge in bitcoin and need to spend the bitcoin fast, the easiest way I can think of is to import your wallet to blockchain.info.

Step 1: Find your wallet.dat in ~/Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/
Step 2: Go to https://blockchain.info/wallet/import-wallet and upload your wallet.dat
Step 3: Use blockchain.info wallet to send the payment
152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If bitcoin was real coins, Would you pick 1500 satoshis off the ground? on: October 12, 2014, 12:05:50 PM
I will pick any coins on the ground that has value.

Even if such a coin is worth for 0.6 cent?
Wouldn't it be wiser for you to spend your time on a part-time work or self learning instead of picking up those 0.6 cent coins?
Not likely. If someone could bend down and pick up pennies consistently all day, they could ideally make significantly above minimum wage. (very, very ideally)

Assume it takes you 3 seconds to bend down and pick up $.006 once you have a rhythm down. You'd collect $.12/minute or $7.20 per hour. This sounds crappy, but it's worth noting you'd really have no enforceable tax liability, so if you've already maxed out your EITC working a regular job for the year, this could be an exceptionally fantastic part-time job. Plus you get to pick your own hours and have no boss less Coinstar.

Sats are more difficult, though, since you'd probably want to sweep them (or organize a sendmany), which could add an extra few seconds to the process. -So now all we need is a street filled with kilosats. ETA: I guess if they're physical coins, no extra time's added since you could use the coins as-is.

ETA2: This would make for an interesting prison/labor camp. Instead of breaking rocks, just spread $50 in near-worthless coins on the ground for recess.

That is an interesting analysis. But seriously if you repeatedly bend down once every 3 seconds (1200 times an hour), you will probably get into some serious pain and illness very soon. Tongue

154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need Costumers for my Bitcoin site. on: October 12, 2014, 11:57:09 AM
Hello,

so i have developed my own website for Exchanging BTC to LTC,PM,WU Automated. (expect WU) lel.
And i need costumers (emails) from bitcoin users costumers.
any idea how to get?
thanks

You should make a thread in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0 to announce your service.
You will then need to build trust slowly and gain popularity (eg. banner ads on btc sites, bitcointalk sig campaigns, etc.)

ha i just got the "no cupcakes for you part." nice one fabiola, you're pretty clever!  Smiley

Thanks, you seem nice Smiley maybe i could let you have a couple cupcakes after all. x

Can you send me a fresh cupcake through the Internet instantly with small fee?
I guess not, and so probably bitcoin is still better than cupcake. Just kidding Tongue

BTW, welcome to bitcointalk. I know it is a bit late lol. Cheesy
156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online wallet ? on: October 12, 2014, 11:43:47 AM
Is there anything i need to do with the private keys or are they just there as a extra precaution?

The private keys are the only things you need to spend your bitcoin. In other words, if I have your private keys, I can spend your bitcoin.

You should make a backup of your wallet (essentially your private keys) so that even when blockchain.info goes belly up, you would still be able to import your private keys to other wallet and spend your bitcoin.
Of course you don't want anyone to get your private keys, so you should encrypt your backup before storing it on your external HDD, USB, dropbox, or email account.
157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Here :) on: October 12, 2014, 11:39:34 AM
Good Morning everybody Smiley
I am new here in this forum and I just started earning bitcoin last week.
Here are my sources of bitcoin:
tf.org
bitlanders.com

I just wanna have some more faucets & PTC sites(bitcoin) to earn some decent amount of bitcoin.
Please comment all your legit reccomendations.
Thanks in advance to those who'll help me.

If you want to earn some decent amount of bitcoin, you should forget about faucets, try selling stuff or services for bitcoin, or join a signature campaign to get paid for posting.
158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Wallet Limit on: October 12, 2014, 11:36:03 AM
As of right now while I'm posting this:

The maximum number of bitcoins that you can have in your wallet is a bit less than 13,364,954.77726004 BTC.

That limit increases by 25 BTC approximately every 10 minutes or so right now.

The rate of increase on the limit will be cut in half from 25 BTC to 12.5 BTC starting sometime late in the year 2016.

After that the increase on the limit will be cut in half again approximately every 4 years until the final limit maximizes at something less than 20,997,254.75406004 BTC

Another limit would be that you can't have more than 2^256 private keys or 2^160 bitcoin addresses in your wallet.
But again, there is impossible for you to be affected by it. Smiley
159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Private Key on: October 12, 2014, 11:28:15 AM
If I'm using a blockchain.info wallet how do I see my own private key.

Obviously I know my wallet address but where is my private key visible?

When u get into blockchain.info wallet dashboard, u'll find a Download Paper Wallet link at the bottom right corner. Click on that to download it in PDF format. Your private key is there in WIF format.

Btw, if you want to get your private keys in some other formats (Base58, WIF, Base64, Hex), you can click "Import / Export", "Export Unencrypted" and choose the format you want.
160  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Confirmation Times on: October 12, 2014, 11:19:04 AM
Do you believe the confirmation times will be changed in the near future?

TBH, nope.
First, changing the average block time will require a hard fork, and second there is not much benefit in my point of view.
