Please, add counterparty (XCP) an innovative coin to implement = stocks, bonds and dividends on top of the bitcoin protocol. www.blockscan.com

First, lemme state that I own XCP. Some myopic investors are selling their XCP to get an 8X-12X gain on their burned Bitcoins. I can't fault them for doing it, because they (and I) took significant investment risk on this protocol. We've even had security issues with the coin, now since resolved.
To be honest, I have sold just enough XCP to recoup my original investment, but no more. I suspect many others have done the same or dumped a lot more on the market for a quick Bitcoin. XCP has only been trading a few weeks, so selling pressure may continue until news comes out.
Because this protocol was just born (and it works!), it's pretty rough around the edges. No production GUIs exist yet, so you're looking at transactions on the command line. Once it gets a fancy front end, the game will change and Mr. Market will start to price Counterparty much more fairly.
Nice analysis.

I actually installed XCP's client which is really cool. Can someone send me XCP for test?
What's your address? Post your address, one of us can send you some coin.

When will ipo start? thanks!
The developer is working on releasing a prototype of the product, right before the IPO. This is taking some time. This is in the best interest of investors as we will get to see capabilities of the product before investing in it. Otherwise we will be investing based on just a piece of text.

When will the GUI wallet come out?
There is a GUI currently, however this requires you to download and reindex the blockchain. There is also a WebWallet under development (final release in about 3 weeks), this will be really easy to use and does not require any downloads.

Could it be this address, 15vA2MJ4ESG3Rt1PVQ79D1LFMBBNtcSz1f?
I don't know the address. It's inside the exchange. Only busoni can know his address. I don't so, it does not appear that way from the transaction history. Lets not speculate.

Last I heard the 12 BTC were meant for the hacker, as well as a "security consultant" position. I do agree additional money from donations and whatnot since then should also go to the security bounty, which should be paid at the dev's discretion. As described in the chatlog, steps to implement stricter validation are always appreciated, given especially the use of multisig. Similar validation will also have to be done when OP_RETURN is finally implemented, as that has only been on testnet so far. Let's hire the hacker as a security consultant. He needs some funds and we need his security expertise.

I just sent some XCP to poloniex. Any insights for the time needed for them to be shown?
Takes me about an hour for it to show up. This is from my experience one week ago.

Can the BTC functionality be built into a client or counterwallet? Wouldn't you just need an interface where the protocol can tell the client where to send dividends etc? If this functionality could be added I think it would help enormously.
+1 Yes. Great idea. I will add this feature in BoottleXCP: I just add Phase 3 here : https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,134.msg932/topicseen.html#msg932This is the kind of thing that, if it's to be done, should be implemented at the level of counterpartyd. I'll add the functionality to the backend, and you can just call create_dividend as you normally would (albeit with an extra argument), alright? Phantom thanks very much for this. This is ideal, since now a user has the option to buy an asset with BTC and also receive their dividend in BTC. One extension that could be interesting (not sure how difficult it would be to implement) would be to have an asset X, but the protocol can identify whether a user purchased X using BTC or XCP. If BTC was used, dividends are issued in BTC; if XCP was used, dividends are issued in XCP. What do people think, is this a useful feature? Is it possible to implement? If we issue all assets, dividends and fees in BTC. I am not sure what is the purpose of XCP or what value it will have.

Good news, everyone!
The hacker (a bit of a misnomer, as he has pointed out) returned 50 BTC, and I have just distributed it to affected users. Looks like the other 65 will be sent, too.
Great job busconi and the white hat.

Cryptsy doesn't trade Mastercoin, wonder why not, I'm sure the setup is similar to counterparty. I wonder if they steer away from meta style coins.
Yes, the exchanges are quick to add clones of bitcoin (as the API is identicial and all they need to do is make a few changes). It is a lot harder for innovative coins with new source code to get on exchanges. Nxt has been able to do it successfully, however mastercoin is still trading on custom exchanges.

Hello, I did a similar chart in r. If the price is carrying on like this we should touch the second standard deviation soon, around 420 usd ish. For extracting the trend I’ve used the function stl(Seasonal Decomposition of Time Series by Loess) in R Thank you , interesting chart. Could you please post the value of the standard deviation (sigma).

Is there a way to put counterparty coins in cold storage, I know this should be the same process as Bitcoin. However, has anyone successfuly tried this out.
|
|

The web client will be coming soon. You don't need to have counterpartyd to receive XCP on your existing BTC addresses. However, without Counterpartyd you won't be able to move the XCP out of those addresses. What is the problem you are experiencing with countepartyd? Please post your operating system, steps you are following and what the error is. I'm sure someone here or in the official forums can help you out. when will the web wallet be out roughly? In about 2 to 3 weeks time. (There will be a release for TestNet, next week)

It's ok from here in London, UK.
Weird, I'm in Shreveport, Louisiana and I can sometimes get the page to load, but none of the data is there (prices, buttons, order information, etc.) Yes, it's slow to load. Perhaps too much load on the server.

+1 for XCP escrow replacing the unwieldy BTC fee system entirely! Glad to see progress is being made on this. +1 Agreed.
