You can use both XCP and BTC within the platform. However, for technical reasons only XCP can be used for carrying out certain type of transactions -
a) dividends
b) bets
c) betting fees.
Also, XCP based orders for buy/sell are more efficient as the protocol can automatically escrow the funds. The demand for these transactions will ensure the value of XCP.

I know there was similar issue not sure what the resolution for that was. (I am on the latest build). Thanks to the developers for fixing this in such short notice. I have my funds back and everything is working fine. |

I remember to have read somewhere (must have been somewhere within this topic because I cant find it in the OP) that people are responsible themselves to do x (don't remember what that term was; maybe "activate", "import"?) with their XCP when y (some kind of launch?) is announced. You see that I dont have much of a clue anymore what I read there  Just dont wanna miss anything. Bottomline question: Can I just hold my XCP (burned with blockchain.info wallet) for ever/month and do nothing without having to worry about anything? Yes, you can hold them in your block chain wallet. You only need to export/import private keys into Bitcoin-QT when you need to spend XCP or make transactions on it. |

This is true. It would be awesome to see an Asicminer-direct-share-backed asset issued on Counterparty. Maybe ThickasThieves would be up for the task? This would be the first "Bitcoin blue chip" asset on a decentralized exchange. One small step for TAT, one giant leap for Bitcoin securities. +1 This would be a big step for step for Bitcoin based financial instruments. |

Watch out: there's a fatal bug in develop triggered in block 284193 with the error message: 'assert asset != 'BTC' # Never BTC.'. I just pushed a hotfix to GitHub.
I got the error on the master branch. It still doesn't work for me with the latest github. Yeah, mine does the same as well. When I do a "git pull origin master" I get an update saying 'Already upto date'. Maybe that is probably why. |

I've got a plan to build trust without a reputation. Yes, you can issue a real asset on the exchange for trade. The buyers need to know that you really hold those physical precious metals and would redeem them on request. Kind of hard to build that level of trust, unless you have a real world business backing it. |

Interesting to see so much supply on the block scanner. ~11000 XCP for sale, against ~300 on the bid. Both camps are greedy.
Less than half percent for sale is not much at all, especially since I think a large chunk is from one guy. We need to get more publicity to bring in more buyers. A trade platform as btc-e is helpful for publicity. Maybe someone can build this like dgex.com for NXT and masterxchange.com for MSC. +1 We really need a trade platform, makes it easy for every one to buy sell (without the hassle of PMing buyer/sellers on this thread or installing the software and figuring out command line options). |

I feel proud to be part of this historic event. This could be XCP's "bitcoin pizza". Can't think of a more fitting first XCP transaction than a decentralized bet on the Super Bowl. Obviously a friendly bet of course. I'd imagine for truly professional-style betting: 1. Trusted member of community / verified ID / DD 2. Announces betting by signing post with BTC/XCP address 3. Collects the bets (with fees) 4. Announces result of bet, signed again 5. Broadcast result of feed 6. (the best part) winnings are distributed automatically, and are completely trustless The only "trust" in this system is the feed operator, no one else (no middlemen). It would be great application, if we can make bets on the future price of Bitcoin. For Example: 1. Price Feed for BTC 2. A betting system that can be used to sell future options/contract in BTC. e.g., If BTC price is less than XXX, you win so much. This way you can hedge your position in BTC. If BTC price goes up, you make money from your holdings. If it goes down you can offset some of it using the winning of the bet. |
