141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: June 03, 2015, 09:51:04 AM
When will it start trading, I feel like I invested into this project years ago, this is starting to piss me off. Anyone else here feeling the same way?
What do you expect from your investment? Just curious.

What else other than dumping his ether on noobs for highly inflated prices?
142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: May 26, 2015, 03:11:28 PM
I avoid talking too much about it, I usually just try to explain the basics, sadly most people find it hard to comprehend.

Most of them follow authoritative figures who do not have information about btc other than the misleading mainstream media narrative.

I have given away some btc among my friends, some started to use it to buy stuff online, some buy it yearly since I have introduced them, but the majority still can't even comprehend what is bitcoin/why it would be good for them, and I think they do not even recognize the issues with fiat based systems.

Thank you.

Can someone please link to actual proof which confirms that 21 inc has anything to do with mining?

Price = supply and demand not news.
146  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: May 18, 2015, 02:55:16 PM
Because believing in something without evidence is idiotic.

All religions are nothing more than scams preying on stupid people.

Do you believe what your psychologist said to you? You see that's pretty much the same guesswork as the neolithic shaman's explanations about harmful of beneficial spirits Smiley.

Science has not uncovered the inner workings of a human brain so I take everything with a truck load of salt what a psychologist has to say (I don't even consider it real science yet).

The scientific method relies on available information and not idiotic beliefs. It is constantly evolving, scrutinized and does not stuck with dogmas.

Scientific *conclusions* rely on available empirical information.  The scientific method relies solely upon philosophical reasoning supporting empirical epistemology.

To this extent, the scientific method *does* rely upon belief, just not idiotic ones.  Specifically, it relies on the belief in the validity of logical inference as it relates to inductive reasoning.  This validity is established entirely by logic, and not by physical evidence whatsoever.

And there I'll play the english is not my native language card.

I only implied that there's a good reason why an "atheist" rejects religion. There is no religion which is not based on bullshit (I see we can agree on that). Science on the other hand is all about seeking more knowledge without underlying agendas, delusions or criminal intent.

It really comes down to how these react to unknowns.

Scientific example:

(first solar eclipse happening)

"hmm, WTF is happening, let's investigate to understand what is causing this phenomenon"

Religious:

(first solar eclipse happening)

"IT MUST BE IMAGINARY SKYWIZARDS DOING SHIT BECAUSE X MADE UP REASON, YOU'RE GOING TO BURN IN HELL IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE (waves hands)"

While you could say that science uses beliefs but they cannot be compared to religious delusions in their nature.

The scientific method relies on deduction first, then generalizing the results and finally creating rules depending on the success of the generalization attempt. Actually this could be just as misleading as any religious beliefs, and scientists can be as dogmatic as the most hardcore members of the Congregatio pro Doctrina Fidei Smiley.

The behaviour of some scientists doesn't have anything to do with the fundamentals of science.

I go into this thread and the bad English burns my eyes.

I'm not surprised, little grasshopper. Go now...hop away... there's nothing to see here.
151  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dark Net Weapons Bust Leads To 17 Arrests and a $80,000 Bitcoin Seizure on: May 17, 2015, 05:08:39 PM
I'm not surprised at all. Eventually almost everyone gets caught (I said almost). They definitely aren't doing enough to keep themselves safe.

Actually the only problem here is that they are getting caught, else it would be helping Bitcoin go mainstream.   Wink

Quite the contrary. I doubt if LE can catch more than 10% of criminals. (which is on the level of drug bust estimates)
152  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should the government do to make women start using Bitcoin? on: May 14, 2015, 03:00:29 PM
why does bitcoin need to be based on gender?
we're all humans and what's the point if women starts using it?

i think its better if companies would use it

I think at some point we all need to get real and ask the question, why would anyone use it?

My next door neighbor would like to know why he should go through the difficult process of buying bitcoins so he can then go out and buy something that he could have bought already with the debit card in his pocket. He'd like to know why he should add the extra step.

Every so often, he'll ask me if I have his answer yet. Embarrassed

Bitcoin is voluntary. Nobody "should" use it.

If he lived his life so far without any issues with centralized payment solutions  - with their inherent limits and annoyances - and the properties of fiat money are acceptable for him then he shouldn't use bitcoin.

It's also worth to consider how early bitcoin is. I think the protocol won't be ready for mainstream for a few years more at least.
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think we'll look back on bitcoin and think that it grew amazingly fast? on: May 14, 2015, 02:46:31 PM
Well, all these regulations, bad news/publicity and thefts/hacks tend to slow adoption in my opinion.
Other than that I think the technology behind it is moving blazing fast.

Even banks and governments are considering utilizing the block chain technology.

+1 I'm quite amazed by the progress despite the seemingly orchestrated efforts to steer people away from it.

Funnily, most of the "average" people around me still seem to parrot the mainstream narrative (underground money, illicit uses, money laundering) without giving it a second thought.
154  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do you do with your btc? on: May 14, 2015, 01:00:36 PM
Saving and low value spending lately.

I think it's undervalued to spend/invest at the moment.

Anyone else noticed how shitty bitcointalk became?

It's getting very hard to find interesting stuff among all the noise.

What noise? Why do hates people islam?

158  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wrap It Up, bitcoin Is Done on: May 09, 2015, 12:03:03 PM
Bitcoin has always had scams, hacks, etc. This is not something new, and it is not a fault of the currency. The reason why there are so many scams in bitcoin is that people do not do their due diligence when using a service, especially people who use dark net sites.

Bitcoin is certainly not dead.

but it is dying for now

lol

All nations are slaves already, thanks to the fiat system.
