141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to assign Public IP to BAIKAL A2000 on: January 11, 2019, 12:06:20 AM
If you do put it on a public IP, you can take satisfaction knowing how happy you made whoever hacked your miner 5 minutes after it went online, so theres that.
142  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Radeon VII on: January 11, 2019, 12:04:59 AM
Wait...people actually CHOOSE to buy Vega's over basically any other mining card? This is news to me. I always thought they were kind of a joke.

Remember so few people mine with Vegas try to remember how long it took after they came out before any decent miners were released.

I would expect that it takes months after release before they are performing at anywhere near max capacity.
143  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: January 10, 2019, 05:52:57 PM
T15 issues. When switching pools I keep getting Socket Connect Failed.

For the 10 trillionth time, Socket Connect Failed IS NOT AN ERROR.

Literally all it means is cgminer is not running.

I have noticed when changing pool information on the T15 it can take another 15-20 minutes before it starts hashing again.....how long did you wait before deciding it wasnt working?
144  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: January 09, 2019, 10:00:53 PM
Which FW did your T15 ship with?

Miner Type   Antminer T15
Hostname   antMiner
Model   GNU/Linux
Hardware Version   13.16394.1.3
Kernel Version   Linux 4.6.0-xilinx-gff8137b-dirty #25 SMP PREEMPT Fri Nov 23 15:30:52 CST 2018
File System Version   Sat Dec 29 10:39:18 CST 2018
CGminer Version   4.9.0

^^ Good to hear.
Now the question will become how many weeks/months the miners run before we start seeing issues Wink

I have been doing this for a few years now, and bitmain reliability is on par or better than any company I have worked with outside of Canaan, whose miners are never competitive anyway.
145  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Antminer S9] Miner stops hashing - all stats freeze except LSTime on: January 09, 2019, 06:35:18 PM
Looks like I was mistaken again. So I got some high-level stats and here is what I found...

I have the same issue trying to figure out which are asicboost and which arent. Sometimes the firmware date changes to the Nov 2 date of the ASICboost patch, and sometimes it retains the underlying firmwares date so you actually have to login and look for the LPM checkbox.

The real pain with this issue is the fact that the API and everything else still reports the machine as hashing so if you dont happen to notice in your dashboard that the hashrate is always identical, it can take a while to realize whats happening with the last submission issue.

From my data I have not had any correlation between machine states (aka bad board, etc) and the fact that it stops submitting data. The VAST majority of my machines are in perfect working order and all exhibit the same symptoms.
146  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain will be releasing S15 and T15 on 8/11/2018 on: January 09, 2019, 06:25:22 PM
I received my first T15 this week finally. It has been up for about 2 days now. Here is how the setup went and my findings.

Out of the box the machine would not pick up an IP, had to do the IP report reset right out of the box but it immediately came up after that.

Initial test cycle took a long time, the machine did not start hashing until about 25 minutes after power up.

Normal mode results:

23.1TH @ 1560w at the plug.

LPM results:

20.9TH @ 1260w at the plug.

Other than the somewhat long boot times I am seeing (switching to LPM took another 15 minutes before it would hash) everything is running great.

Factory LPM specs are 21th max at 1260 and they NAILED IT. I couldnt be any closer to the advertised specs.

With all the other miners ive been testing having extremely loud 140mm fans its kind of nice to have a new miner with 120mm fans. Also helps keep my fan inventory useful going forward since I have hundreds of 120mm fans.
147  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: [Antminer S9] Miner stops hashing - all stats freeze except LSTime on: January 07, 2019, 09:08:14 PM
For me this issue is 100% related to the ASICboost firmware. It was never an issue before the patches. As a matter of fact, the second ASICboost patch was a fix for the stalling found in the original release.

We have yet to figure out a way to keep them running so we are developing something that can read the LST and reboot as needed as all of the API info freezes at the point it stops mining while still reporting those final functional values as current even when they are not.
148  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s9 keeps restarting or rebooting? on: January 07, 2019, 04:59:49 PM
check the temps, S9 auto reboot when temps are high

This is not true...they will stall out and stop when they hit the overheating limit but do not auto restart. The status page will show the last status when it was mining, but otherwise it will just sit there until manually rebooted from heat issues.
149  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcing the WhatsMiner M10S 44TH @ 60W/TH or 55TH @ 65W/TH SHA-256 16nm Miner on: January 04, 2019, 05:05:41 PM
Thought I would give an update on my M10s experience.

This thing is a monster. The 140mm fans are so loud I hear them over the thousands of S9s in my data center.

I have now had the machine running for about a month with zero issues. It has consistently been hashing at 54.9TH using about 3450w.

Here is the current status of the unit:

Here is the live power draw:

Outlet A3 = 14th S9
Outlet C3 = 13.5th S9
Outlet E2 = Whatsminer M10s

Here it is on the pool:

Run linux and you wont have those issues

If anyone is on the fence about using PiMP....here is an example of how well their software runs....

This is a 6xGTX1070 rig....The last time I even stopped the miner process was when I logged in back in october to switch from ZEC to ETH.

I have been doing this for a long time and have found NOTHING that is as stable or reliable for GPU mining.
152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ERROR: ethminer exited, waiting to cooldown a bit on: January 03, 2019, 08:35:48 PM
HiveOS has a thread if you go look in the proper section.

This is for bitcoin, you are talking about altcoin miners.

Please either move the topic to the appropriate section, or post in the hiveOS thread for support.
153  Economy / Computer hardware / Feeler - 750 Avalon 741 available on: January 03, 2019, 05:40:31 PM
Just throwing this out there to see if there is any interest.

I have about 750 Avalon 741s recently decommissioned in working order available for bulk purchase. (Thinking in the neighborhood of $25/unit)

Can be sold with or without power supplies. (Most ran 2x 750w HP server PSUs)

We can palletize and arrange shipping as needed.

This is a bulk sale only, I have no interest in piecing out lots of less than 250 units.

This is not a forum escrow deal, this is a sale from a licensed and registered business. You will receive a commercial invoice.

Units are available for inspection prior to purchase.

Please PM if you have any questions or interest. Flexible on price if all units are purchased at once.

Edit: RPis and AUCs are available as well. Will provide many spare AUCs if requested.
154  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will btc difficulty go sideways for rest of the year? on: December 28, 2018, 06:02:33 PM
Why Bitmain want to share income of s15 in their farms with customers? Only one reason... they are sure the price of BTC will fall down again.

*BUZZER*

Incorrect. There are a number of reasons for them to do this.

The electricity prices they are charging are double what they pay.
They are still selling you a machine, through a very indirect and convoluted method, that you may not even want to retrieve at the end of your contract. They also can keep the asset on the books until this happens.
On the books, having GUARANTEED monthly income versus crypto income that can vary wildly from day to day is extremely important, especially for a company trying to forecast or go public.

There are other reasons as well, I just wanted to give a few to prevent the spread of misinformation. Remember, when you make a claim not based on facts (such as what I quoted), there is a chance someone else will read it and think it is a fact, when it is not. This type of misinformation is potentially dangerous and damaging to the community and industry as a whole.
155  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO miner B2: 7NM mining within reach? on: December 28, 2018, 05:51:20 PM
we need as much as possible, not as few manufacturers as possible, to maintain decentralization on a high level

I still dont understand why people have this misguided idea that more manufacturers equals decentralization.....

Its like nobody knows what decentralization actually is....

158  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Z9 Mini Batch 2 Factory Firmware - Unavailable Elsewhere on: December 27, 2018, 12:07:37 AM
Are you two still bickering like an old married couple? I figured you would have gien up by now.

P.S. Why would anyone be wanting the batch 2 firmware? It took the ability to overclock via the GUI away and was the first thing I removed the day I got my batch 2 machines....
159  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Anybody here suing Bitmain on: December 12, 2018, 04:24:05 PM
had these came without an username they would be mostly sitting idle.

Actually s9s sdraw almost full power even when not hashing, they run wam up cycles on the chips to prepare.

P.S. There are many mass deploy tools that would have made your job easier
160  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: OC AsicBoost Antminer S9, T9+ Bmminer - Deploy Tool and access to set freq, volt, Fan Disable on: December 10, 2018, 11:59:23 PM
Hi,

I did backup config before deploy on "upgrade" page.

if I now restore my backup on the same page, will everything be as before deploy?

No. That just backed up the user settings, pools and such.

It did not create a backup of your firmware.
