Um how do you plan to fit more then 4 cards on that mobo? There's only 4 pcie slots.  Huh
142  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: How to keep your window open during the winter? on: September 01, 2011, 05:49:14 PM
I'm using windows at night now because it drops below 60 degrees here. I haven't given what you said much thought yet but opening two windows in different locations tends to move air around quite a bit. Unless its pouring buckets I doubt rain would get in. As the temp drops though you can probably get away with the windows being open an inch or two which will prevent snow and other stuff from coming in.
143  Economy / Goods / [WTS] used 5830 (sold) on: September 01, 2011, 05:39:26 PM

Got this item from CanaryInTheMine's raffle (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=38000.0) As you can see the grill has been clipped. It was just so the card could fit into a case. It doesn't effect the performance of the card what so ever.

I don't have space for it in my current rig set up so I need to sell it. I'm willing to sell it for $130 in bitcoins and this includes shipping (CONUS). Thanks Smiley

You might be able to fit another 6870 on there but I wouldn't personally try to put another 5970 in your machine. What mobo do you have? It might not even be able to support more then 4 cards.
145  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] 5200 rpm delta fan on: September 01, 2011, 05:11:36 PM
I didn't think it was too bad. It does run a little louder then gpu fans but that should be expected when it pulls that much air through it.
146  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GPU / MEM clock ratio? on: September 01, 2011, 04:23:51 PM
The 3/1 ratio seems pretty accurate. I have 5830's running at 1030/350 and 5850's running at 940/325. If I push the mem any higher it doesn't seem to effect the megahash you get.
147  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboard MSI 890FXA-GD70 wont boot with 5 GPU's on: September 01, 2011, 02:47:09 PM
You cannot run 5 gpus without at least one of them being powered.
4 will work.  5 will overload the power that can be provided by the pcie bus.
That isn't true. I'm running 5 cards with out powered extenders right now and have been for awhile.
148  Economy / Goods / [WTS] 5200 rpm delta fan on: September 01, 2011, 02:32:09 PM

It can be seen here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835213001
It runs at 5200 rpm and moves 241 cubic feet per minute! I used this for about a week and decided to go for an skeleton case set up instaid. It reduced my temps by about 10c and does what it promises.

I'm asking for $25 with shipping included or the btc equivalent to any where in the continental US. At the moment I only want bitcoins. I might be open to lower offers if the price is right.
149  Economy / Gambling / Re: Xtreme HD5830 Sapphire raffle (CLOSED) 4 entries. winner to be announced. on: September 01, 2011, 01:36:30 PM
Its a shame to see not many people entered.... you probably should have posted this on the Mining forum I suppose...
He did it was in the hardware section, the mining section, this section, the selling goods section. He literally posted this every where and bumped it constantly. I don't understand why people didn't buy tickets.
150  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Too Late to Join the Party? on: September 01, 2011, 01:22:21 PM
Don't forget to factor in the cost of air conditioning
This is less of a factor for some us now. The temps where I live are starting to drop. Right now its 65 degrees so I've been able to use a window for the majority of the day and I'm running 3 ghash which is a lot of heat.
151  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] PSU Crashed! Need newegg giftcard or NEW PSU. on: September 01, 2011, 04:23:22 AM
www.bitegg.net its been around for ever.
152  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboard MSI 890FXA-GD70 wont boot with 5 GPU's on: September 01, 2011, 02:59:41 AM
I looked up what I was talking about earlier. Its called the pci latency timer. You need more then 64 if you want more then 4 cards on that board.
153  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: New Radeon HD 5970 same $499.99 price as newegg but with more stuff on: September 01, 2011, 02:57:03 AM
FYI the cards from Newegg come with those 3 accessories in the box so there is no difference.  I trust Newegg more  Tongue
Newegg is oos now though.
154  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: September 01, 2011, 02:11:48 AM
i've looked and i haven't found anywhere else.

same seller "unity electronics" is selling them on amazon for 499 but without the $10 coupon.
Guess they are almost gone then. People on the fence should make a decision soon before its too late Tongue
155  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: September 01, 2011, 02:02:18 AM
Looks like they are out of stock now.
Looks like there are a bunch here http://www.buy.com/prod/ati-radeon-hd-5970-pci-e-pci-express-x16-2gb-gddr5-2560x1600-video-card/q/loc/101/223771192.html and they give you a $10 coupon to cover the shipping, so you pay $497.55.

Still trying to decide if I should buy 3 more.
I say do it Tongue I guarantee you'll have fun building your next rig Wink

Is this the only location that's left that has 5970's?
156  Economy / Gambling / Re: Xtreme HD5830 Sapphire raffle (CLOSED) 4 entries. winner to be announced. on: September 01, 2011, 01:28:20 AM
It arrived today CanaryInTheMine is good for his word.
157  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: which program best to use to see temperature for gpu in windows7? on: August 31, 2011, 05:06:51 PM
i just use the window gadget gpu observer. theres also one that comes with trixx
The problem with the trixx one is it doesn't work for 4+ gpu rigs. It doesn't show every gpu. It also is super tiny. I assume the gadget one is some what similar.
158  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: which program best to use to see temperature for gpu in windows7? on: August 31, 2011, 04:54:46 PM
I don't know if its the best but I like using afterburner for monitoring my gpu temps. It shows the top temp as well as a recent past history in a graph.
159  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: which motherboard is most stable for 5 or 6 video card? on: August 31, 2011, 03:55:12 PM
kool but how about 6th card? which board
If you still own the 890fxa-gd70 try what I recommended.

Texas, 77042 to a commercial address (I think that UPS and FedEx charge less for shipping to commercial addresses?)
I have a family member who works for fedex. I can confirm it does cost less to ship to a commercial address.
