141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: June 02, 2014, 03:45:42 PM

What the fuck is MEAT and CAKE ?

Why is there only 2 assets in XCP ?

Anybody can create assets, there is no central authority to restrict the words you are allowed. These were likely created for testing the creation, issuance and dividend payment portions of counterparty.

As you can see from a trivial check here http://blockscan.com/asset.aspx or on the counterwallet client there are a lot more than 2 assets.

With so many assets... somebody needs to come up with something like a rating agency!

Hmmmm.... what about a distributed decentralized rating component?

Here's a very interesting proposal for just that.
https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,220.0.html

Indeed interesting that you can't really have assets in a trustless system.

The moment you allow folks to start selling assets, then the sellers and possibly all the other participants of that asset cannot be anonymous.  A trust system needs to be available.

Possibly a distributed decentralized trust system is what is needed.

I have gone through some of the proposals and they are very interesting indeed. However, I personally feel that we are getting a bit ahead of ourselves at this point of time. Most of these ideas are quite elaborate and will take quite a bit of resources to successfully fund and materialize. And then say for a system that is "audit" based you will need competent staff to actually carry out a proper audit on an ongoing basis.

Instead, I feel that what we need now is perhaps something more straight forward and simple. In my mind a system like say.. Amazon's user Feedback system would suffice (for now) and would allow users to post feedback and cumulative score can be maintain. While it will be possible to "game" the system it will still suffice as a source of information for investors.. With a little bit tweaking the scores can be tied to reviewers reputation

Depending on how things pan out, I might be incorporating an asset based user rating system into Blockscan if there a need for such a system..

Cheers

Is anyone else having trouble getting Blockscan to load? I keep getting this error: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ztmjvowfj6slyel/Screenshot%202014-05-10%2020.31.05.png

Looks ok on my end. The only change I made was the addition of the Asset by Address view.

Cheers

Can/will blockscan.com be adapted to show assets at an address?

I have added a basic asset by address view.

Please see http://www.blockscan.com/assetbyaddress.aspx?q=1Nf1LL6z8QN8uLZENLdPNzSGhhcfWqtzax for an example

There is also "link" under the address view

AntMiner S1-0.5 BTC
Speed:    180 GH/S
Price:      0.5 BTC

Wow they keep getting cheaper and cheaper. So so tempted to buy a few

The S1 Antminers are currently $1.25/GH (non overclocked)

The X3 (assuming 5k cost, excluding power supply and including the free unit at a 3th total) are $1.50/GH

Order 111xx requested a refund, bank details RE-submitted and accepted on the 23rd April...

BTC offered & not accepted, waiting for CASH

Although i'm now considering BTC just to get it over & done with

Personally, I would just take the BTC and be done with it. There is always the risk (although very small) that this could get "goxed"

Cheers

31 days after my Refund request Anna keep rolling the same " it will be transferred in few weeks" .

One month lies and BS.

Is it sure that the bank accounts of KNC are still not blocked by Swedish government?

Something start smell here. 1 Month for refund is really a lot, even for cheap bastards like KNC.

Just to remind you guys:

Don't send any Money to KNC. Don't buy any nonrefundable hardware from them.

KNC is SCAM NOW and they going to score Fraud of 2014. Hold on for Q5

Request for a BTC refund instead as they are offering that as an option now.

Well, I did say "now"  Wink

But all the same nonetheless.

How many days will take for a refund if ask refund at btc?

im more interested in how long CASH refunds will take, and how their finance department can be 'super busy' if they are not actually refunding any cash refunds 'yet'

or perhaps the BTC refunds are just so numerous that the finance dept is at saturation point?

copy/paste BTC address - click send - done???

in a typical 8 hr day... or are they already trialing this 6 hr workday??

on account if it all being utter BS mate. they have plenty fiat money and they have plenty bitcoin money. refunds should take 1 day of work, no more.

If I had to take a guess, they might have initially been refunding the from new orders paid via cash and mining operations of BTC sold for cash. However, given their size of mining operations and a quieter market I will only take a guess that any significant amount of BTC sold would have easily depressed the market and kept BTC prices low. So in essence they would have to mine more BTC to repay the refunds.

I am actually glad that they are back to paying for refunds via BTC as this is good for the overall market and requested for one as soon as this was provided as an option. I received double of what I paid for in BTC and I think once the Neptunes and BlackArrows hit the market it will be at least 1 year to ROI (not including the power, heat and management costs). Mine took around 5-6 days after the request was made for the change from CASH --> BTC.

For the same amount of BTC refunded you can get easily get around 4TH now which is a no brainer, unless you are in it for the fun of mining and the need for heating Smiley

Cheers

We are pleased to confirm that Black Arrow Minion works.

We are now testing speed and power consumption.

Great. So I guess we will get our miners early next week then  Shocked

Got my refund too. Today makes it just under a month since the refund request was made for my 2nd (and last unit).

Imho, KNC feels like a house of cards at the moment that will stay up as long as they can get fresh funds $$$ in or mine enough BTC for the refunds. So I took the BTC refund instead of the wire transfer that never went through.

For what it's worth though, thank you the refund (and customer service for the prompt replies) and good luck to those still holding out

Cheers

I tried to contact BA about buying the needed PSUs and the reply was to wait for another update sometime soon. I would hold off buying PSUs for compensation units until BA post another announcement. I hope any hardware delays are not as bad as the Coincraft fiasco earlier this year. I can't believe that Chinese know-off miners where available with the A1 chip before prepaid customer orders where filled. I hope BA does not follow that path.

From the looks of it... the additional compensation units are going to be shipping at a later time than the main orders

I think that i managed to get my e-mail blocked by knc support system after flooding them with e-mail asking them when will they refund me.

I know that they are reading this and i do know that they are holding my refund in order to not get into my Group Buy, but that would be very stupid since sending the money today i will only get them on friday or next week. Don't worry knc i can make plenty of free emails to start flooding you with the same question:

WHEN WILL YOU REFUND ME???

Well if its any consolation, my refund request was made around 3 weeks ago and still no funds yet...

Ok I DID call them and i have requested the refund in bitcoins since it will be faster than the wire transfer. They will refund me at the bitstamp's exchange rate for the day when the refund is done. Keith said a couple of days. With a bit of luck I may get my refund this week! Back to waiting game.

I've asked for BTC refunds in the past they stated they would not do so for single orders. Wonder what changed then ?

I can send BTC from bitcoin-qt right? Or just blockchain.info wallet?

Either one as long as you control the private keys
155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: April 23, 2014, 05:28:32 PM
I noticed they increased the IPO limit from 6000BTC to 7400BTC just as the funds passed 6000BTC.

I hope they don't do that again...

Actually it was first increased from 6000 to 6700, the new figure now seems to be 7341 ...

What next 8000 ?  Huh

"we are processing the BTC manually, but looks like the Master Protocol guys may automate this for us. We are updating the site now to explain this process and the intention. It seems there may be 24-48 delay on seeing the MSAFE coins, but the blockchain confirms receipt of the BTC and we have created a spreadsheet detailing all the tx that we were using for the manual process."
from dirvine

Could you please provide a link in this thread when the site is updated?

All available from safecoin.io now. Thanks for the understanding everyone, we are certainly aware of our mistakes here, but that does not take away the fact we are incredibly delighted there are so many people now involved. We had this project to ourselves for 8 years and many rewrites and improvements in the dark, we never knew so many would share our vision. Now they share our ownership, This is the key point for all of us in the office, it's the support it's not the money, it never has been. Incredible to say the least.

I for one am looking forward to this project.

...In hindsight though, setting the MSC to Safecoin price twice than what it was trading currently for probably was the biggest mistake and sort of left a bad taste (at least in my opinion). A lot of issues could have been prevented if the trades were done purely via BTC-->Safecoin (I know this can be done with counterparty) or if it was priced closer to last trading price

However, going forward if you can get the maid safe platform up and running even close to what to was envisioned, this would be an exciting and interesting time for all those involved

Cheers

Hi Dirvine/Maidsafe,

"BitAngels have already said they will honour some of the MSC guys who did miss out"

In your post you mentioned the above, can you please exapand on that.

Yes BitAngels have proven themselves here for sure. Their honesty and integrity were shown to us in this process. I cannot go into too much info about earlier post as it would not be fair to presume. All I would say is that this is a new world and BitAngels and the Master Protocol team can provide a great service with the ability to balance out any teething problems quickly. If you do a crowd sale these are the guys to work with. I will blog about the experience we had and are having.

I would like to ensure we can ensure the network efforts that need to happen now, can and soon. This means more developers and not maidsafe developers, but new people in new teams all working in unison, but competitively (in terms of the core dev pool).  I hope that helps. It is best to assume this sale stops at 6700 BTC, but we may be able to do better for these teams.

This structure though is discussed in the white paper and on my blog. I think it's  of huge importance.

Are you saying it's possible I will still be able to buy in with my Mastercoins?  When will we know?
IPO for MSC was closed. you can still invest BTC before the amount up to 6700BTC.
thanks for your supports.

I'm asking what this statement means?
"BitAngels have already said they will honour some of the MSC guys who did miss out"

I am not sure how this would be handled. If they suddenly announced that they were once again accepting MSC for Safecoin a lot of people are going to get double burned as the prices rise and drop back again

18 BTC left.....hurry up  Grin

18 + 700 BTC left  Wink

Why +700?

6k reached....

its + 700 now.. who knows what the actual max will be.

When they get enough btc they expect.

They were hoping and expecting to raise a certain large amount of money - large above what they have already raised. They did not expect this big of a response initially. They offered 40% over their promised 17,000 Safecoins per bitcoin for all who responded in the first week. This means that they will have to pay out 40% more on a whole bunch of Safecoins that they were expecting to pay a whole lot less on.

Essentially, this means that they have not received the $amount they needed. So, who knows how long they might extend this whole thing just to get the funds that they need?

Smiley

They were most likely not counting on the large Mastercoin holders cashing out. Their initial expectations were 70-80% BTC from the current allocation.

I just see 6014 atm

I meant the max limit is now around 6700 and not 6k as earlier stipulated.
